I feel we as a society moved on way too fast from the fact that Dave Davies and Brain Jones almost had a threesome.

When you offend someone but you won't let anyone else do it because you love that person
Dave Davies: "I sometimes think that Ray was only happy for three-and-a-half years in his life. And those were the three-and-a-half years before I was born. [He] is a vain, egocentric, narcissist arsehole. [But] I won't have anybody call him that except me. Because I love him to death."
John Lennon: "I'm entitled to call Paul what I want to, and vice versa; it's in our family. But if somebody else calls him names I won't take it."

The Kinks - “You Really Got Me” (1964)
Sixty years ago today, on August 4, 1964, the third single by the Kinks, “You Really Got Me,” was released. After claiming the top spot on the UK charts in a month, the song then went on to break through on the US chart, peaking at number seven, and establishing the Kinks as one of the top bands of the British Invasion. Though the song was written by Ray Davies on piano and conceived as a light jazz-tinged number, the song was transformed when Dave Davies played the riff on electric guitar. The meaty power chord riff and subsequent blistering guitar solo would go on to influence hard rock and punk for decades.
