Oh, I'm so happy to announce that the first issue of 'Raven the Pirate Princess- Year2' entirely drawn and colored by yours truly, will soon be in online shop and comic-book stores beginning with 18 October. My choice for today’s #feministfriday is a little known series about Raven, the pirate princess, and her all-female crew. It’s funny and current and full of adventures, and while it does a great job with representation and the exploration of relevant issues, its brand of feminism is often not one I personally embrace. It is sometimes a little pedantic and lacking in nuance, but it nevertheless brings forward themes that are worth discussing. •⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ This is something I often see with feminism: many people resist calling themselves feminists because they disagree with certain groups or certain forms of its expression. Please, don’t let that discourage you. You may not always agree with all your family members or classmates, but that doesn’t exclude you from the group. The same goes for feminism: sometimes certain actions or speeches make me cringe, but I am still a feminist. It’s such a huge and wonderful world, find those that speak to you, and try to listen to those you disagree with.
