PSA: user ravenanddoe uses AI in their fanworks without disclosing it
They have recently even gone as far as to open an etsy shop where they claim their work to be 100% handmade without any involvement of AI, which is simply not true.
Some proof:
In the past they disclosed their usage of "AI elements" in their posts, but after i started calling them out for not doing it any longer on their new works, they deleted their old images.
Some of these old images (where the AI involvement was even more apparent):
If you want to use AI to generate your fan content, fine. What is not fine is deceiving and scamming others who believe they are supporting an actual artist.
#i tried to contact them about this but they did not respond#so now im making this post before anyone gets scammed#ravenanddoe#artists on tumblr#artist on tumblr#Loki#loki fanart#mcu#marvel fanart#loki art#anti ai#fuck ai#fuck ai art

“Last Straw” - Digital painting
Loki is so done, haha.
I wanted to give him armor reminiscent of his outfit in IW, but note his gold aesthetic has returned. This takes place in an AU where he has embraced his identity as an Odinson, and fights beside Thor to bring down Thanos

That loki art by the ravenanddoe user or whoever is ai generated, check the comments!
I had to scroll down to see which one you meant! But I read that this AI art was done most likely stealing from a Bucky fanart, yes? Anyhow in case that was it I'll deleted.
Maybe it's a bit polemic but given I'm a programmer, I don't mind AI stuff (once you try programming an AI you gain a whole knew level of respect for AI) as long as it's done in an ethical way, but using said tool to steal... gross

it’s ravenanddoe.
there was a piece, which they’ve since deleted presumably because we were calling them out for using ai. there it was the most obvious. there are other ways to tell when looking at their pieces that they are ai, though, even if it’s not as obvious as their deleted artwork.
they’re trying to pass off some of the artwork with a weird blur filter on it as a “wip.” they’re also selling this ai artwork on etsy for $32 usd. which is WILD.
there is an artist posting loki “paintings” that’s using ai and they’ve restricted the replies so you can’t point it out. they don’t properly tag it. one of their posts is getting a lot of notes right now. please look for signs of ai artwork in the art you’re reblogging and in their other art before you interact with it.
#sorry for not adding a name before#you are definitely right that is very important and i was being a bit of a ~coward~ to put it lightly

WIP - “Revenger”
“Well, because I’m getting revenge. You’re getting revenge. And you’re—do you—what do you—do you want revenge?”
Digital painting
I feel like this painting is taking forever. Of course, the fact that I’m working on two other pieces at the same time isn’t helping…

How it started / how it ended
I always figure out pose and lighting first. I love lighting, and I'll wax poetic all day long about how good lighting can turn a bland piece into a masterpiece (not shown here). Since lighting is absolutely dependent on how the character is posing in relation to the light source and the "camera", those two elements are (for me) at the heart of every piece.
As for the composition.... Eh. Partway through I realized I wanted more of the image devoted to Loke's face than the original allowed, and also that Thanos was too small. I cropped closer and made T-Man larger. Then, I couldn't shake the feeling that the background was looking a little Star Wars-y; so I changed the spaceship to random magic.
There are several other things I want to fix, but I'm tired of working on this painting so: voila. Done.

Step Two:
I'm using the same round texture brush to create smaller and smaller details, starting out with a large size and decreasing diameter in stages. I do this by unfocusing my eyes and painting the fuzzy shapes/colors I can see until I've done so fairly well, and then zoom in a bit with a somewhat smaller brush and repeat. The idea is not to jump on details too fast, but make sure the underlying shapes/ colors are more-or-less how you want them. Looking at your image and the reference with blurred focus is the easiest way to do this.
I've decided to heighten the color by pushing the contrast in hues between the warm shadows on her neck and the cool outfit--turning the outfit blue and the shadows fuchsia and orange.
I haven't decided if I'm going to remove her glasses or not. The model has some interesting lighting going on that I don't want to obscure, but I like the story added by the focused expression and glasses. If I add them it'll be later, after I finish the area under/ around them.

Happy Friday! This isn't fanart (HORROR!) but I wanted to do a quick lil series showing my digital painting process. First up, here's the reference I'm using (with permission) and a base study I hammered out in around ten minutes. I don't do a line drawing first, but that's a me-thing. I find drawing just as energy-intensive as painting, so I cut to the chase and just start the painting. Don't worry, I'll clean up the outline/ details as I go.
Everything is done on a single layer, using about 2-3 brushes, a modified scatter-smudge tool, and (rarely) a basic eraser. At this level I'm mostly using the round texture brush.
