love this quote xdd
Young Buzz: I just felt like we were getting a little too old to go trick-or-treating. Young Nate: That's exactly why we need to go trick-or-treating, cuz. We're getting older. There's not that many Halloweens left. I guess I didn't realize it was already our last one.

Note
Is the 8th English-speaking YDKJ host Jack Cake or Raul,,, idk if Raul counts but iirc he was a part of the netshow? I’ve always counted him (he’s my personal favorite Jack host despite the lack of content for him)
Nate Shapiro (95)
Guy Towers (96)
Buzz Lippman (96)
Jack Cake (96)
Cookie Masterson (97)
Schmitty (97)
Bob (98)
Troy Stevens (01)
I feel perplexed including Raul since we really don't have footage of his episodes and mostly just word of mouth that he was there. The fact a lot of this franchise is lost media kills me

You don't know Bronies, A jackbox au I had in mind.
Its a mlp x Jackbox+ ydkj where yes, its just mlp but with a bunch of idiots. Here's just 9 of the cast ponies.
Nate sharpio, as twilight sparkle: He's the smartest out of the mane 6, and has the most brain cells. Originally, this role was gonna go to cookie, but that be dumb of me. The element of magic, he has enough wisdom to think the worst is gonna happen. To reflect similarities, he's gonna be a unicorn turned alicorn.
Helen, as Spike: A dragon friend with similarities of the formerly mentioned, and takes things seriously. She's mostly helper of Nate, but gets along with the rest of the main six just as fine.
Buzz lipman, as Rainbow dash: Often up for an adventure, holding up the element of loyalty. As a Pegasus, he dreams of joining the wondercolts as well. Speed is his top priority, so he's also a good mailpony/ racer. Cousin of Nate of course.
Cookie masterson, as rarity: He finds that one ponies trash can theoretically be his advantage. Cookie feels that everything has value. But just like in the ydkj canon, he treats the mane six as trash most of the time. Still got the element of generosity tho, yet rarely shows this to the guys and rarely seen in general.
Guy towers, as Applejack: The honesty element at the finest, this earth pony(and the only one of the entire six) works his days as a coach for every common sport, but none better than basketball. Knows everypony like the back of his hoof and wants everyone to be fair. He as acts the mane 6's brawn, ready to kick ass when at the ready!
Schmitty, as Fluttershy: He got the element of kindness, but its not to his kind. It rather comes from other creatures, like the quips he carries on his back everyday, everywhere, everytime. This Pegasus tends to avoid conflict, or at least getting involved. But he also has an angry side, and not afraid to show it when his limit's pushed.
Bob, as pinkie pie: The element of laughter, he is popular on equestria's main social media. He's the most positive out of the group, and whenever one gets down, he can use his unicorn magic to make funny memes to get others a good laugh. And yes, he's a unicorn.
[Redacted], as starlight glimmer: When he's introduced, which is earlier than the season 5 premiere, he has about the same first impressions as starlight; Controlling minds of the ponies of his town into being equal and creating a fake paradise, only for it to be ruined by the mane 6. He later reforms after making a deal with nate. Turns out, the former did his past actions because he despised cutie marks, seeing how they took his friends and family away from him to study their passions. [Redacted] has his cutie mark shortly after friending the mane 6. His specializes in Unicorn dark magic, like draining life from foes and resurecting the dead.
Rue Meringue(the name came from the jackbox wiki btw), hostess of roomerang, as Sunset shimmer: An earth pony and a previous student of Raul( The celestia in the au), she belived that even a earth pony with no talent could be special. When rejected behind the later's back, she more often goes to the human realm. One fucking movie later and she is reedemed after the mane 6 stop her from reaching her goals, which was to vanish all magic in equestria, including non earth ponies.
... Im gonna add more soon, but thats all for now, ok? Show Will be rated T due to many swears, but not m since theres nothing more than that and crude jokes.

How to write a You Don’t Know Jack-style trivia question
by Haley Walker, the head writer of Salty Trivia with Candy Barre, a YDKJ fangame
The anatomy of a YDKJ question
As the tagline says, YDKJ is where “high culture and pop culture collide”. A good YDKJ question is first and foremost a soft trivia question that most people can reasonably confidently expect to guess. It also has a little pop culture coating around it, like the hard candy shell on a Tootsie Pop.
The “pop culture” bit could be references to movies, video games, music, memes, or TV shows (or their modern equivalent, online streaming service originals). It could even just be a stupid pun.
Asstronomy How many Earths could you stuff into the volume of Uranus before it just couldn’t take any more? A. 6 B. 63 C. 630 D. 6300 —YDKJ2011 E1 Q1
Oh, and of course, official YDKJ questions have a lot of fart jokes in them.
High-to-Pop Balance
The questions should be fully understandable with cursory knowledge of the reference in question. For example, someone who has only kind of heard the name “Paul Rudd” in passing could get all the questions right in YDKJ2015’s Paul Rudd episode. In fact, none of the questions ask anything about Paul Rudd.
Let There Be Rudd If Paul Rudd’s real first name were like Paul the Apostle’s original first name, what would he be called? A. Raul Rudd B. Saul Rudd C. Gaul Rudd D. Simon Rudd —YDKJ2015 “Paul Rudd Episode” Q4
Be careful, though, to make the pop culture reference clear enough, without sacrificing the understandability of the trivia question underneath it.
The ideal YDKJ question is a Tootsie Pop, with a soft trivia center inside a hard pop culture shell. When there’s too much lollipop, it’s too much effort to get to the tootsie roll center. Too little lollipop, it’s just a tootsie roll on a stick.
Examples
Let’s review some fanmade YDKJ questions.
This is a well-balanced question.
Moderating’s Hard Say you were spamming in a server. Mostly what were you caught doing? A. posting multiple chicken pics at once B. starting beef with others C. slapping someone with a large fish D. not shutting up about pork
The high culture layer is what kind of meat Hormel’s luncheon meat Spam is made of, and the pop culture layer is the act of spamming that the Monty Python skit gave name to.
This is a question with too much pop culture.
Mythic Baked Liquids Guess what Pastry's Skill Quote this rhymes with In test, Delight of Denise. 1: You are able to control all water and have a Crush on the Moon. 2: You want your Enemies to WITNESS something. 3: Perhaps something about the SEAS?
This question is all pop culture, and requires more than a cursory knowledge of what "Pastry's Skill Quote" is. (The question writer then clarified that it's supposed to be some kind of thing from Cookie Run, but that doesn't explain anything and doesn't cause us to be able to guess that the right answer is "Witness the might of the seas", and that’s kind of the point of why this question is so unbalanced.)
I would raise an example of a question with too much high culture, but ample of them are already in Jeopardy!, so I won’t harp on about it.
Pitfalls
Some sources are not very reliable, including Wikipedia, but there are a lot of other places that are less reputable.
Names of phobias come up in fanmade YDKJ questions quite often, but the vast majority of them are invented by some random person with a less than stellar understanding of Greek and Latin. If you can find it in Wikipedia’s list of phobia names that aren’t in the “Jocular and fictional phobias” section, it’s safe to use. Otherwise, if you can’t find a medical paper that uses that name, it’s wise to discard it.
Terms of venery are another iffy subject. Aside from the very famous “flock of birds” (but “murder of crows”), “pack of dogs/wolves”, “herd of cows/horses”, “pride of big cats”, and “school of fish”, you should generally shy away from them.
Writing patterns
There are some common pitfalls that a YDKJ question can fall into, most of which arise from the wording not being clear enough. Here are some phrases to mitigate the issues.
“Which of these [things] is the MOST/LEAST likely”
This pattern is used when there are multiple correct answers, or the options all apply to a different degree. It is also used to signal that it’s a matter of opinion or simple wordplay.
“Based on [criterion]” or “Because [criterion]”
This pattern is used to clarify why. I will show you a bad YDKJ question for a change.
Pixar Movies Make Me Gassy If I wanted to reenact the movie Up, what would I definitely not want to attach to my house? A. hydrogen balloons B. helium balloons C. carbon dioxide balloons D. ammonia balloons —YDKJ2011 E25 Q6
The intended answer was C. carbon dioxide balloons, because it was the only one of the three had a lower density than air at room temperature. However, you wouldn’t want to attach the rest of them to your house for various reasons: Hydrogen and ammonia are both hazardous to handle because they are flammable, while we are running out of helium, so they would be very expensive to use. This is not even to mention that ammonia has a very strong odor. (Did I mention YDKJ has a lot of fart jokes?)
Adding the phrase “Based on” to the question, I can rewrite the question to clarify why Cookie would definitely not want to attach to his house:
Hydrogen: Because it is the most flammable, what would I...
Helium: Based on the price, what would I...
Carbon Dioxide: Based on its density, what would I...
Ammonia: Based on the level of health hazard, what would I...
“If/Say/Suppose [premise]. [question]?”
This pattern is used to introduce a premise that too complex to be woven into the question itself. If you need multiple sentences to introduce the premise of the question, even after the little rant Cookie sometimes does before the questions, you may want to reword the question, work on it some more, or scrap it.

(HEAVY TW!!!) Likely my hottest Jackbox Games take yet: Cookie & Schmitty should've never reappeared after YDKJ: FS & TMP 2 respectively.
I'll start this off by saying that i do not hate either of the two as characters, the reason why i think that their appearances should've ended at You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream & Trivia Murder Party 2 is because it's a perfect karmatic ending for them do to how terrible they are as people.
Now i'm going to bring up a lot of heavy topics in this hot take, because Cookie Masterson & Josh "Schmitty" Schmitstinstein are just...terrible human beings who have done and do a lot of fucked up things, a lot of it isn't even played humorously (if you could even call writers put in humorous). If topics such as manipulation and abuse strum the wrong cords in you, or if you treasure these characters and don't want them potentially ruined for you after hearing all the fucked up things they have done in the game's cannon, i heavily suggest skipping this post for your own sake, but if you're okay with the above: click "Keep reading" to continue.
Cookie is manipulative, using his emotions and words to get what he wants, whenever he wants it, with little to no repercussions. He was able to go first in You Don't Know Jack: The Ride when he was supposed to go last with a trapdoor and complaining. He's able to get interns to tend to his every need with threats and his charisma, to the point of him being able to KILL them if he so desires. It's a miracle he's not in jail with his numerous cases of indecent exposure and kidnapping of actual scientists, even his future self hates his guts, that's how toxic he is. Don't even get me started on the fact he strapped his boyfriend Raul to an electric chair against his will for his sick amusement.
Schmitty is abusive, physically assaulting the people he's working with or destroying the property of others with either his fists or sometimes giant rocks. He convinced Old Man to fake his own suicide in front of Cookie as a "prank", admitted to committing both adultery and gerbiling, and while he isn't hosting games naked, pissing on walls or having sex with his players midgame like Cookie has done; he makes up for it by simply not wearing pants most of the time, especially during work hours. He's also both been to jail and is currently on trial, likely for the above, and he's also just as verbally abusive as he is physically.
This in mind: their fates in You Don't Know Jack: Full Stream & Trivia Murder Party 2 is perfect karma for them! Cookie being the one manipulated for the benefit of another and to the detriment of himself, having nobody but a single intern that occasionally checks up on him and another who just reads out the questions for quality control, and being eternally forced to do the same song and dance till the day he dies without much as a break is PERFECT karma!
While Schmitty constantly being assaulted and abused, never getting to see the sun for the rest of his days, forced to live in a crate until he's forced to line read, tortured, or fed vile food just to keep him alive at the hands of who he used to think of as a friend. His only moments of peace being when the hotel explodes into smoldering smithereens, until he's brought back alive to repeat the cycle anew, making for a fitting punishment to someone who harmed many.
In fact, these ends are SO perfect that i'm almost convinced that these originally WERE going to be their last appearances, but due to how fans reacted, and how they likely weren't going to stop complaining about their situations; they brought them back to get some extra hype going for Pack 7 & Pack 9 respectively. But that's really all it is, marketing. While i like Schmitty's sequel and you guys know my opinion on Cookie's sequel ALL too well; the hosts...really added nothing. They're remarkably soulless at best and viciously flanderized at worst. Their roles could be filled by any other host and practically nothing would change, proven by the fact that Cookie isn't actually Cookie (which was added in a fucking PATCH by the way).
They don't deserve the "happy" ending they ended up getting, their fate filled with suffering was poetic; the worst out of the original cast getting their well deserved comeuppance two decades in the making. Getting rid of the old by giving them what they had coming to make way for Jackbox's new generation of psychotic hosts! Shame that they threw it away for the sake of marketability, before quickly discarding them like they were worth nothing to them. Capitalism kills art sometimes, that's just how it be.

i think the thing that surprised me the most about YDKJ The Netshow is that it had its own exclusive round 4 art + animation since twice a game it would break for ads (a good number of which were army themed it looks like?) but im waiting ever so patiently to see if raul actually was a host on the netshow. i hope the guy uploading videos of netshow gameplayll find remnants of it
