Este, para livrá-Lo, apresenta-O ao povo juntamente com um ladrão e assassino; mas o povo responde: SEJA LIVRE BARRABÁS, E JESUS SEJA CRUCIFICADO. Ó céus! Todas as vezes que pecamos, fizemos o mesmo, pospondo nosso Deus a um vil interesse, a um pouco de fumo, a um vil prazer. AI DE MIM, MEU SENHOR!
