hi everyone this is my rat blog and these are my little men Gob and Len!! i adopted them a few months ago from a sibling who had gotten them on craigslist a few months prior but didn't have enough space for them. i don't know much about what their life was like before that. they're probably about two years old, and although they don't like to be picked up they're slowly getting friendlier to human hands!! i'm hoping to get them a nicer more spacious cage this year so they can live their best middle aged rat lives!!

(cw pet illness) len is not feeling well 😢 seems like a respiratory thing, he's had low energy, lots of eye secretion, and trouble breathing for the last couple days. doing my best to clean their enclosure of old dusty bedding, and i think he's gotten a little better, but still feeling very worried and sorry for the little guy 🥺

rat city usa update: Len passed away a couple weeks ago; Gob was there for him right up to the end, and has now become an uncle to three new guys: Cinderblock, Garma and Meep! they're all 8 weeks old and very soft and cute. i got a much bigger and better habitat for them and they are getting along well! we stay squeaky :3

Cinderblock Garma and Meep have settled in well and made friends with Uncle Gob, which i am very happy to see. they've also gotten a bit shy towards me and spend a lot of time in the darkest recesses of their cage. i suspect this might be because i'm petsitting my sister's dog this month, who i imagine is a giant horrifying beast from their perspective, like an orca whale (i keep him out of my room whenever i open the cage of course) and they're suspicious of anything that smells like the dog. but that's just my speculation, i will try to play with them more to build some trust.

other than that they've been doing pretty well! i hear them playing and running around at night:3
