Bhimbetika Rocks
Bhimbetika Rocks--
The Bhimbetka rock shelters are an archeological site in central India. The rock has existed and been used in Bhimbetika since the ancient Stone Age and the Middle Ages. Vimbetka is a UNESCO World Heritage Site with about 450 rocky outcrops in 10 hills covering 10 km. These rock formations were inhabited by indigenous peoples about 100,000 years ago. Some of the 30,000-year-old prehistoric rock paintings can also be seen in some of Vimbeta's rock formations. These paintings mainly depict animals, birds of prey, and ancient dances. Bhimbetka is the oldest and largest historical site in the Indian subcontinent.
Naming history-- The Hindi name Bhimbetaika (4) is associated with the mythological character of the second Mahabharata poem, Pandava Bhima. The word Bhimbetaika is thought to have been derived from the abbreviation of the original Bhima meeting (4) (the original word means "Bhima meeting" or "Bhima's sitting place").
Location-- Bhimbetka is located 45 km southeast of Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh, and 4 km from Obedullagni town in Raisen district. To the south of Vimbeta is the Satpuda hills. In the Ratapani Tiger Sanctuary, Bhimbetka is located in the sandstone bed at the foot of the Vindhy Mountains. The archaeological site covers seven hills, namely Binayak, Vonrawali, Bhimbetaika, Lakha Jwar (East), Lakha Jwar (West), Jhondra and Munibaba Ki Pahadi.
History-- Winkedka, an 18-year-old British-ruled Indian official, described Bhimbetika in his article. He described Bhimbetika as an ancient Buddhist site based on data collected from tribals living near Bhojpur Lake. As the first archaeologist, Vishnu Shankar Wakankar discovered some caves in the area and realized its historical significance. He came to the conclusion that the rock structure he had seen before in Spain and France was in harmony with the rock structure here. In 1956, he took a team of archaeologists to Bhimbetka and discovered various archaeological sites. In the 1990s, the real expansion and significance of the Bhimbetika rock was discovered. Since then, more than 750 rock and caves have been discovered. Of these 450, 273 belong to the Bhimbetika group and 16 to the Lakha fever group. According to the Archaeological Survey of India, there is evidence that the settlement dates back to the Middle Ages and the second millennium BC. This is evidenced by the analysis of rock paintings, excavations, vessels, and deposits. The walls and floors of the Vimbeta rock are believed to be the oldest in the world. Archaeological remains have been unearthed in some parts of Vimbeta, and it is believed that raw materials were imported from Raisen in Madhya Pradesh. The 182-hectare Bhimbetika is a protected area under Indian law and was handed over to the Archaeological Survey of India in 1901. In 2003, the site was recognized as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Hall (Auditorium) Cave-- The largest cave (also known as the Auditorium cave) is the largest cave in the world. Surrounded by many quarry columns, the hall caves can be seen from a distance. It is the largest of all the rocky outcrops in Bhimbet. In Robert Bednarick's language, the interior of this historic building looks like a church and its roof is like a Gothic arch. Looking at the interior, it has a rectangular path and points in four directions. The main entrance to the cave is on the east side. The east side has a huge stone floor towards the end of the rock. It is found in almost all corners of the globe and is visible from all sides. Archaeologists have also called it "Chief's Rock" or "King's Rock". It is unknown at this time what he will do after leaving the post. The caves are the center and center of the caves, which have been scattered throughout Bhimbetka. There are about 458 rock sites on both sides, of which 500 are rock paintings.
