There was something in the air in total drama island

like maybe it was the first season so they had all the tropes in the world to explore without you getting that cartoonish vibe but there was also just. something else, i guess

the writing wasnt perfect by any means. hell, heathers plot armor was just unhinged, they still had the talking sharks and most the challenges were far from something you'd see on your day to day reality tv show, chris was cartoonishly evil from day 1. point being- it was far from realistic

but somehow they just managed to combine all of this and turn it into something so raw and real in a way i cant put into words (and neither could the following seasons clearly 💀) i guess the characters just felt like average teenagers who could be your friends.

i think its also why im such a sucker for tdi duncney. i seen good girl x bad boy tropes a trillion times already, never been moved once. but something about the way tdi writes it that just makes it so realllllllllksdajkadslm
