sometimes some people have to understand that all kismessisitudes are different just like matespritships. a lot of homestucks are just like "but if they don't seem like they hate each other then they cant be kismesis" SHUT THE FUCK UP YES THEY CAN!!! some are allowed to be able to talk just fine in public like they arent secretly mortal enemies..its called public decency. not all of them have to constantly be trying to kill each other. theyre not even SUPPOSED to want to kill each other. they can think about it sometimes but NO.
"that's not how pitch relationships work they can't be outwardly okay with each other" sir they inwardly hate everything about this guy please shut up.

This blog started because I submitted an incorrect quote about Karkat ranting about the love square in miraculous ladybug. People seemed to enjoy that content, so now I’m filling the demand. Feel free to send in requests, submissions, or any questions you might have.
EXPLAINATION OF THE QUADRANTS:
For those of you who might not be from homestuck, or who just need a little refresher, the quadrants are the troll romance system, represented by the card suits.
Redrom and Blackrom: Red romance/redrom is romance dealing with love, where black romance/blackrom is romance dealing with hate. blackrom is not wanting someone dead, you very much still care about them a lot, they just get under your skin. Y’know how some perfectly healthy couples say “fuck you” to mean “I love you”? that is blackrom.
Concupiscent and Conciliatory: Concupiscent is what humans would view as romantic, where conciliatory is what humans would view as queerplatonic (more than friends, but not lovers. a platonic life partner, exact same value as a romantic partner, but different. it’s hard to explain, but that’s the gist of it.)   Flushed: The flushed quadrant is concupiscent redrom; the closest to a human understanding of romance in the quadrants. People with a relationship in this quadrant are “Matesprits” This quadrant is represented by the heart symbol.
Pitch: The pitch quadrant is concupiscent blackrom. Someone who you hate to no end, but still care about them a lot. you sort of hate that you are attracted to them, but you care about them just as much as a matesprit, it’s just a different kind of caring. People with a relationship in this quadrant are “Kismesises”. This quadrant is represented by the spade symbol.
Pale: The pale quadrant is conciliatory redrom. Someone who will balance you out, protect you, and calm you down. This quadrant normally has a very soft, fluffy dynamic, but pale relationships often have partners gently making fun of one another. People with a relationship in this quadrant are “Moirails”. This quadrant is represented by the diamond symbol.
Ashen: The ashen quadrant is conciliatory blackrom, and by far the most complicated quadrant to explain. There are two ways to have an ashen relationship, which unlike the other quadrants, is comprised of three people instead of two. Being in an ashen relationship is generally conflict resolution. Either there are two members of an ashen triad who are pitch needing someone ashen to calm them down during especially fierce couples disputes, to help them calm down and maintain their relationship when they aren’t talking to each other, or to otherwise keep them from breaking up or harming each other. Basically someone who they care about and trust enough to help them with their relationship issues. The other way is when there are no parties with pitch feelings towards each other in the triad. When this happens, the relationship looks a little different. The members of the ashen triad need to keep each other from killing each other, this time with no one person who’s always calming the others down, instead the roles change frequently. If one or more parties have a kismesis outside of the triad, the triad may also keep them from cheating on their kismesis, or otherwise making regrettable pitch decisions. The person calming the other members down is an “Auspistice”. The ashen quadrant is generally considered to be emotionally exhausting and not very rewarding, but it’s still considered to be romance, and a deep caring is still present, just like in every other quadrant. This quadrant is represented by the club symbol.

dave irl + a troll irl but i wont bring it up in case they arent okay with doubles coz i know they look at this lol
Matesprite/Red feelings/<3 are the most akin to human romance, as you said lol, and i think andrew hussie connected that as well because the example given was two humans. but also its kinda weird bc its also kinda different in a way. most trolls consider it sexual but im p sure asexual matesprites exist so idk lol. theres a lotta stuff that goes into it. that goes for most other quadrants- just as normal love is complicated, troll love is even more complicated.
you were pretty accurate with Moirallegiance/pale feelings/<>. these things are akin to queerplatonic partners, in a more 'i was literally made for you/p' way. It is a form of guardianship, but it isn't simply about being platonic soul bros forever. they are like aa,,, a protector of their moirail's heart. They keep each other grounded n junk.
Kismesistude/black feelings/<3< are like.. Hate-love? like 'god i want to kiss your stupid face and then punch you 20 times in a row' kind of thing. Basically 'fuck your enemy but also fuck your enemy'. killing your kismesis is a strict no-no, though, as you can only have one and that destroys the mutual weird respect/let me kiss you/im gonna punch you thing going on. "the tension in kismesissitude relies not only on hatred and annoyance of ones more irksome aspects, but also a level of admiration for their more positive aspects"
Auspisticism/ashen/♣ is automatically poly lol. Basically, two people hate each other and want to tear each other up, and the middle person, the auspistice, makes sure they dont kill each other so they can continue to be in the relationship bc again fate and junk."An auspistice is a "facilitator" of some sort between a pair, mediating interactions between them and keeping their relationship functional." i personally am an aromantic auspistice so i dont have a lot to say on this lol
if you think you have red feelings for someone and you get together but it doesnt work out, then its because you quite literally werent made for each other. its like a 'soulmate based system' that trolls take really seriously. For example, pale feelings are described as "A troll is compelled by fate to watch over their moirail and keep them in line." fate stuff woo
sorry i like ranting about stuffs

oh woah!! thank you for the explanation!! yeah, i found a little bit on it, but it wasn't very helpful- it said ashen and pale feelings were just "platonic but a little different" and i had to kinda figure it out. ashen feelings seem kinda cool!! honestly, this whole thing is really cool! thank you so much for the detailed info!!
