This summer, he borrowed a GSXR 1000 bike and rode at 120 m.p.h. from Los Angeles to Laguna Seca to cheer on his hero, the legendary champion Valentino Rossi. When Day-Lewis spoke about Rossi, it was in the same adulatory tones he reserved for De Niro, Brando and Montgomery Clift. “I’m a groupie,” he said. “Rossi is a genius. There are some parallels between what he does and what those actors do — his work requires both a great deal of discipline and a wildness of spirit. With acting, there is always that intangible aspect that goes beyond the practical framework. Brando had that — the freedom that he had was more the instinctive freedom of an animal at times than a human.”

Day-Lewis, a long-time motorcycling fan, enjoyed the ride hugely, especially because it gave him the ultimate insight into a sport he loves. “That was radical, I beat my own personal heartbeat record and I think I’ll be talking Martian for the next few minutes!” beamed the British actor who lives in Wicklow, Ireland. “That was just unbelievable, definitely the best cure for anyone who thinks they can ride a motorcycle. I’ve ridden one track day but the braking was totally different, amazing. You’re used to releasing the brake as you crank into corners but Randy just kept braking all the way to the apex. And the acceleration was astonishing, you get the full measure of it down the big straight. As much as you feel the force of the braking throwing you forward, it’s the opposite when he gets on the power. These guys are real athletes, Randy could probably carry the bike on his back if he wanted to! “But the really lovely thing about the ride was that it gives you a taste of what it would feel like if you were able to ride a bike really well. And it gives you a huge insight into what these guys do, now I’ll be able to see the racing a little from the inside. I’ve been into bike GPs for years, watching Randy, Rainey, Schwantz and Doohan and then the current guys, and Joey Dunlop was a huge hero of mine.”

Idk why his is the only picture I got, but on Friday at the Valencian GP they had a fan stage thing, where they got the riders out and asked them some questions. (What's your favourite food, that kind of thing).

When Pedro came out he basically stole the microphone and spent his time on stage trying to 'find Augusto a girlfriend for Sunday night'. I couldn't translate it all cuz it was in Spanish and my Spanish kind of sucks, but eventually they got a girl from the crowd onto stage and Augusto proposed to her.

Then the guy asking the questions (Randy Mamola!) Was trying to speed them up cuz they went so far off script.

The only other things I remember was Pedro lead a chant - "who's going to win on Sunday" - and then got everyone to chant Augusto's name. They also asked him why he didn't need to find a girlfriend and he got really sad and said something along the lines of "romance escapes me". I'm pretty sure he has a girlfriend tho.

Anyway that's why Pedro is the funniest rider.

A franciaországi Eurexpo Lyonban megrendezett Salon du 2 Roues nagy sikert aratott: a március 7-10. közötti négy nap alatt több mint 150 000 látogatót fogadott. A Nemzetközi Motorkerékpáros Szövetség (FIM) első alkalommal volt jelen több mint 300 m2-es kiállítótérrel. A Spirit of Speed a Történelmi Országúti Motorkerékpárok Európai Gyűjtőklubjával közösen több mint harminc motorkerékpárt választott ki 1904-től napjainkig, amelyek a FIM 120 történetét ölelték fel. A lelátó zsúfolásig megtelt a nézőkkel a számukra szentelt pillanatok alatt, olyan bajnokok jelenlétében, mint Giacomo Agostini, a tizenötszörös FIM Grand Prix világbajnok, James Toseland, a kétszeres FIM Superbike világbajnok, a kétszeres FIM Supersport világbajnok Sebastien Charpentier, Eugene Laverty, a korábbi 250cc, MotoGP, Supersport és WorldSBK versenyző, valamint Greg Black és Etienne Masson többszörös FIM Endurance világbajnokok. Végül pedig a francia versenyzőnők, Emily Bondi és Ornella Ongaro, akik részt vesznek a FIM Női Körverseny Világbajnokságon, amely június 16-án kezdődik Misano Adriaticóban (Olaszországban), . Nagy érdeklődést váltott ki a Nemzetközi Motorkerékpáros Szövetség 120. évfordulóján elindított Örökség program, a FIM versenymotorok tanúsítása. A FIM által kiadott tanúsítvány lehetőséget ad a gyűjtőknek, hogy megszerezzék az azonosító táblát, amely igazolja a motorkerékpár eredetiségét, szigorúan valamelyik következő versenyekről származik: MotoGP, Superbike, Supersport, Endurance, Formula, Sidecar és Landspeed rekord. A tulajdonosok, gyűjtők és múzeumok büszkélkedhetnek majd a rangos plakettel és egy QR-kóddal, amelyen keresztül a motorkerékpár műszaki és történelmi jellemzőivel kapcsolatos összes információ elérhető lesz. A FIM középpontjában a motorkerékpár eredetiségének védelme és népszerűsítése áll, mint a FIM által képviselt felbecsülhetetlen sport- és történelmi értékű örökség tanúsága.
