Soft OC Asks: 🍂, 💫 and 💦 for Alex please! (:

Wee, thank you for the ask (in need of procrastination and fighting the headaches I’ll answer it right away as a treat and maybe will do more when actually on vacation :D)

🍂 Does your OC enjoy hugs? What do they do as a show of affection for: their friends, their family, their significant other(s) or for strangers? Over all what are they like with recieving affection from others? 

Heck yes, she does! Alex is a very physical, touch loving person. Always has been. She would never force that on anybody, but she’s always to have for hugs, playful touch, holding hands, small meaningless touches - the iconic “you need a hug or something?” line from Rossi can be taken very seriously. Anyone close to her can always come up and get a hug. Skin hunger is a huge real thing and she knows it and she does what she can to help fight it. She’s fighting the more and more growing attitude of many the touch=sexual, while touch is first and foremost just touch and a basic human need.

Other ways of showing affection: always being there and always having an open ear, randomly checking in on people and making sure they’re well fed and hydrated (e.g. when Dave is working on his books and doesnt come out of his office at home for ages), getting soul food for others. She’s not best with words, but makes sure other people know they’re loved.

When recieving affection: she’s so so with it. Deep down there will always be part of her that doesn’t believe she’s actually likable and that people simply like her for her so she’s still learning to accept and enjoy shows of affection (this is especially true for romantic relationship, because Dave is way better in showing affection than her former partners were and Alex still at times is like “wtf you sure about that? why you even like me?”). She is very unromantic though and doesn’t enjoy “classic romantic” gestures too much. But she learns to just accept and enjoy love with time (and I’m such a big softie okay?).

💫What is your favourite fact about this character and why? 

Can you believe I first started writing her in an early version in 2011? I just found a snippet some days ago from 2011 but don’t really remember the context. Of course she has changed a lot in these 9 years, but she’s been part of my creative life for so long now... And I think what I love most about her is the way turned out these days. It was a lot of work fleshing her out and I really like what she became. After all these years almost feels like a long known friend.

💦 If you as the writer could erase one traumatic event from this OC’s life what would it be and why?

One thing I kinda regret definitely is killing off Alex’ former social worker and dear friend Yuri Volkov. Argue with me if that was traumatic or only dramatic for her, but I would have loved to see him interact with her and get to know Dave at some point later on. From all the other traumatic stuff that has happened in her life - I wish none of it to happen to her. Then again, it did shape her story for better or worse. But what happened when she was caught as a teenager by the local miliz definitely is one I would erease from her memory if I could (will come up in a later, almost finished chapter, so I won’t spoil too much here).
