A detailed review of the OnePlus 7T from :wired:
I TEST A lot of phones here at WIRED. Smartphones incrementally change each year, and they’ve become more of an essential utility and less of a source of the tech world’s greatest innovations. I often appreciate their new features, but few of those enhancements spark actual joy. The OnePlus 7T, however, has done just that. Putting down the glossy, fingerprint-plastered Galaxy Note10 to review the matte glass 7T was both a relief and a reminder why OnePlus has continued to gain popularity as a smartphone brand year after year.
Like the company's previous devices, the 7T is a phone that showcases much of the best smartphone tech introduced in 2019 at a $600 price—more than $100 cheaper than many top rivals from Samsung, LG, and other manufacturers. What I’ve come to appreciate more is how it uses all that latest tech to enhance my life, often by getting out of my way. Its touch interface is simple and looks just like the brand new Google Android 10 OS it runs on, only a little easier to navigate. It’s just more pleasant, like a PB&J sandwich where mom cut the crust off just because she loves you.
Smooth and Frosty
If you’ve seen an expensive smartphone in the last two years, you know what the 7T looks and feels like, but I’ll describe it anyway. It has a 6.5-inch AMOLED display (that means deeper blacks and richer colors) that takes up its entire front. A teenie teardrop cutout hanging from the top of the screen holds a 16-megapixel selfie camera.
Like the similar and more expensive OnePlus 7 Pro, this display has a 90 Hz refresh rate, which makes the entire interface noticeably smoother. OnePlus calls it a Fluid AMOLED display, and it may live up to that name. Phones have been bumping up the resolution (this one has a 1080p HD screen), but the bump in refresh rate is more noticeable. Everything feels smoother and faster, with richer color than many displays.
The power and volume buttons are in all the right places, and OnePlus has kept its sound/mute/vibrate switch on the right side. It’s a dead-simple little toggle and worth every millimeter of its cutout, letting you easily silence your phone or perk it up anytime.
OnePlus was one of the first companies to introduce an in-display fingerprint sensor, and the latest iteration on this phone is faster than ever. I’ve had trouble with Samsung's on-screen sensors in the Galaxy S10 and Note10, but the optical fingerprint reader in the 7T does the trick in a way that’s more convenient than the fingerprint sensors on the back of many phones like the Google Pixel 3A.
The phone's frame is metal, and the back is covered in shimmering Gorilla Glass because ... well ... trends. It’s silly that the back is made of glass at all, given that we probably drop our phones more than anything besides our keys, and there's no big advantage to the glass here since the 7T doesn’t have wireless charging. But the “glacier blue” color certainly is sleek, and the frosted texture repels fingerprints better than some phones. OnePlus thankfully includes a clear case in the box. I suggest you slip it on.
All Spec’d Out
Between all that glass is a list of luxury technical specs. The 7T runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor, which is half a tad speedier than the 855 on some earlier phones this year. It also comes with 8 gigabytes of RAM, and 128 GB of storage. (Sorry, no MicroSD slot; that’s all you get.) These are all fantastic numbers, as are the numbers you’ll see from benchmark performance tests. It’s a powerful phone, right up there with the best.
OnePlus doesn’t make a lot of changes to Android 10, but the changes it does make seem to (mostly) improve the phone's performance. You can more easily swipe up or down from anywhere on the homescreen to access the notification shade or pull up your entire list of apps. I also like the gesture controls that mimic recent iPhones, and the option to turn the back button into a swipe from the left side of the phone has worked well for me. Your mileage may vary, but you can disable these gestures controls and go back to a traditional back-button setup if you like.
The fact that the 7T even has the latest Google OS is a testament to the company’s focus on delivering software and security updates. It promises two years of updates for buyers of the 7T, and has demonstrated a positive track record on updates for older phones. This is notable—despite costing close to $1,000, most Android phones outside of Google’s Pixel line and Motorola's handsets do not get regular software updates, leaving security vulnerabilities exposed and new features out of reach.
With stereo speakers and a gaming mode that optimizes graphics (and can also restrict notifications and calls so you can play without interruption), this is an ideal machine for playing Mario Kart Tour, or any other high-end title, until your eyeballs fall out. Netflix looks lovely, as well.
I’ve ended most days having spent four or five hours with the screen active, and seen about 50 percent battery remaining. A few nights, it’s been closer to 30 to 40 percent, if I stay up late. This is good, but somewhat normal battery life. If you want to improve your power efficiency, you can turn the 90 Hz refresh rate down to a more normal 60 Hz. In a pinch, the included charger is very quick. It can juice the 7T up significantly in a half hour.
Sadly, like many high-end phones, there’s no audio jack (and no adapter in the box), but OnePlus sells an adapter for $13. And this phone also isn’t IP-rated for water resistance. OnePlus claims it will handle some rain pretty well, but you won’t want to drop it in the tub.
Ready to Zoom
When it comes to smartphones, you ain’t cool unless you have three rear cameras these days, and OnePlus always wants to be cool. Like the 7 Pro, it has a 48-megapixel standard rear shooter that outputs extra sharp 12-megapixel images, a 16-megapixel sensor beneath an ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto. This lets you take shots that you can both zoom out a bit, and zoom in to 2X. There’s also a portrait mode, which adds a bokeh effect, the shallow depth-of-field trick that keeps the subject in focus but blurs the background in a close-up photo.
I had a great time shooting plenty of outdoor shots around Tulsa, Oklahoma, in the past week, and I've even enjoyed the extra stability of the Super Stable video mode, which uses the wide angle lens to better stabilize 1080p video; 4K 30 fps video is also available. Everything looks good, especially shots in the Nightscape mode. Like the new iPhone 11 and the latest Pixel phones, the 7T enhances night shots, adding more light, color and detail to areas that would have just appeared as black splotches on older phones. Night shots require a steady hand and a second or two wait, but they are a definite improvement.

In some of the above shots, you can see some examples of Nightscape mode and Super Macro mode. If you press the flower icon in the upper left side of the camera app, you can move in closer to small objects and still see them stay in focus. The effect isn’t perfect, but I was able to get closer to some plants and ants than I ever have before using a smartphone. It’s a blast to play around with modes like these, and they solidify the OnePlus 7T as a phone for shutterbugs.
Plus One
OnePlus isn’t tampering with the formula that got it to the dance, and that’s good. The 7T is one of the most powerful phones you can buy, and it costs hundreds less than its peers. It also runs on all four major US carriers, and T-Mobile sells it directly.
I've recommended the Pixel 3A ($400) as the best phone to buy for a few months now, and given the performance it offers for the price, for many of you it still is the best phone. But if you are willing to spend an extra $200, the OnePlus 7T will give you a taste of the luxuries you’d otherwise miss out on.
Correction: I referred to the display as a "Liquid" display. OnePlus calls it a "Fluid" display.

Here’s our latest NFL mock draft after the start of free agency
Tumblr media
Cornerbacks Trevon Diggs, Kristian Fulton, and CJ Henderson are all possible first-round picks in 2020.
There’s much more to this draft than Jeff Okudah in pass coverage. Here are a few other corners who could come off the board early.
In the past week, a lot has changed in the NFL world. Of course, many players have signed with new teams. But there have also been some blockbuster trades involving first-round picks that shake up the 2020 NFL Draft.
Namely, the 49ers acquired the 13th overall pick by trading defensive lineman DeForest Buckner to the Indianapolis Colts. Minnesota turned wide receiver Stefon Diggs into the 22nd pick overall. Strangely, though, the Houston Texans are still without a first-round pick because they didn’t get one for star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins.
The moves in free agency have filled holes on rosters and opened new ones. The cornerback market has been strong at the top, with four cornerbacks getting contracts of at least $40 million — Byron Jones, James Bradberry, Trae Waynes, and Kendall Fuller all cashed in.
But plenty of teams still need good cornerbacks. In today’s NFL, a complete roster should have three quality cornerbacks. Few actually do. This week’s mock draft features five cornerbacks in the first round. The last time that happened was the 2017 draft, which featured Marshon Lattimore, Marlon Humphrey, Adoree’ Jackson, Gareon Conley, and Tre’Davious White in the first round.
This year’s group could be just as impactful. Here’s a look at where they land:
1. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
A recent mock draft by NFL Media’s Lance Zierlein floated the wild idea of the Bengals trading out of the No. 1 pick. In the theoretical deal, the Bengals got pick Nos. 5 and 18, and a second-rounder from the Miami Dolphins. On a rebuilding team, that makes some sense. But passing on Burrow could come back to haunt Cincinnati.
2. Washington: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
If we’re being honest, Washington doesn’t really need Young. The team is loaded up front with pass rushers Ryan Kerrigan and Montez Sweat, and Jonathan Allen and Da’Ron Payne on the defensive line. But when a player of Young’s caliber is available, he’s impossible to pass on.
3. Detroit Lions: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
The Lions have spent the offseason acquiring as many former New England Patriots as possible, including outside linebacker Jamie Collins. That shouldn’t impact the fit of Simmons, though.
4. New York Giants: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
In free agency, the Giants swapped out Mike Remmers for Cameron Fleming, a player familiar with the team’s new coaching staff. But it would be unwise to simply hand a starting tackle spot to him. A player like Wirfs could push for a starting spot at multiple positions on the line. The only thing that should keep the Giants from taking him is a trade back or Simmons being available.
5. Miami Dolphins: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
The plan for Tagovailoa is to still have a personal pro day on April 9 and he’ll send the tape out to teams. But the greater issue is health and the concern of re-injuring himself. I’m keeping him either at this pick or to the Chargers, but his situation still deserves monitoring.
6. Los Angeles Chargers: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
The Chargers made a push to sign Tom Brady, but it was unsuccessful. After that, they aren’t expected to sign a veteran quarterback. That would lead you to believe they’re going to take a quarterback in the first round this year.
7. Carolina Panthers: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
By signing quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, the Panthers are clearly starting a new chapter. That also includes a rebuilt left side of their offensive line, which now features Russell Okung and John Miller. On defense, the Panthers still need help. Ohio State cornerback Jeff Okudah could be considered, but the Panthers have to get better up the middle. Brown is a force on the inside who can improve Carolina’s run defense.
8. Arizona Cardinals: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
After performing highway robbery acquiring Hopkins, that leaves offensive tackle as the obvious move for the Cardinals. Although Louisville’s Mekhi Becton is the better player, he and Wills grade out pretty similarly. Wills could get the nod because the Cardinals need a right tackle, and that’s where he predominantly played at Alabama.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
Cornerback Darqueze Dennard was a decent pickup on a three-year deal, but at $13.5 million total, Jacksonville isn’t exactly paying him to be a starter. If Okudah is still around with the ninth pick, he’s an easy choice for the Jaguars.
10. Cleveland Browns: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
The loser of the Hopkins trade, besides Houston, was Cleveland. It all but assures the Cardinals taking one of the offensive tackles off the board. After handing out a huge deal to right tackle Jack Conklin, the Browns will be after the best left tackle available with the No. 10 pick. That could be Becton or Georgia’s Andrew Thomas.
11. New York Jets: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
The Jets gave big money to offensive tackle George Fant, which should be an indicator of their plans for him. That could lead New York to take the first wide receiver in the draft. Lamb would give Sam Darnold a game-breaking target who can make a play after the catch.
12. Las Vegas Raiders: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Almost all of Las Vegas’ additions this offseason have been on defense. The Raiders could be waiting for the draft to snag a No. 1 receiver. The issue here is about which Alabama player they prefer. Jeudy gets the nod this week. He’s more of a sure thing than teammate Henry Ruggs III.
13. San Francisco 49ers (via Indianapolis Colts): CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
There has been talk since the NFL Scouting Combine that Henderson would be a top-15 pick. Now that the 49ers hold the 13th selection, they could be the team to make that come true. After this season, defensive backs Richard Sherman, Jaquiski Tartt, K’Wuan Williams and Ahkello Witherspoon are all unrestricted free agents. That could lead the 49ers to future-proofing their defense with a player like Henderson.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
The Buccaneers have Tom Brady, and now they have to protect him. The interior of Tampa’s line is good with Ryan Jensen and Ali Marpet. However, the tackles leave plenty to be desired. Thomas saw a lot of snaps at Georgia and is the type of rookie who should be able to start straight away. That’s what the Buccaneers need.
15. Denver Broncos: Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
One of the better moves of this offseason has been the Broncos trading for defensive lineman Jurrell Casey. That helps negate the loss of Derek Wolfe. If they don’t want South Carolina defensive lineman Javon Kinlaw, the Broncos could find a partner for wide receiver Courtland Sutton. Ruggs, Sutton, and second-year tight end Noah Fant would give the Broncos an impressive group of receiving options for Drew Lock.
16. Atlanta Falcons: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
The Falcons locked up pass rusher Dante Fowler Jr. on a three-year deal, but that shouldn’t stop them from taking a defensive lineman. In last year’s draft, the Falcons used their first two picks on offensive linemen, so general manager Thomas Dimitroff won’t shy away from doubling down on a need. Kinlaw could be what the Falcons were hoping to get in Ra’Shede Hageman in 2014.
17. Dallas Cowboys: Yetur Gross-Matos, Edge, Penn State
While the Cowboys are still trying to figure out a contract for quarterback Dak Prescott, they’ve made some big-name moves. They gave $100 million to wide receiver Amari Cooper and added Gerald McCoy and HaHa Clinton-Dix on defense. The Cowboys still need pass rush help, and could nab Gross-Matos to play opposite DeMarcus Lawrence.
18. Miami Dolphins (via Pittsburgh Steelers): Austin Jackson, OT, USC
The Dolphins have made several moves to fix their defense in free agency, bringing in Byron Jones, Shaq Lawson, Emmanuel Ogbah, and Kyle Van Noy. Their moves on offense, though, are lacking. That’s why I’m sticking with Jackson to Miami with the No. 18 pick.
19. Las Vegas Raiders (via Chicago Bears): Trevon Diggs, CB, Alabama
Linebacker was obviously a big offseason priority for the Raiders, as they went out and signed Nick Kwiatkoski and Cory Littleton. Adding two starters might mean waiting on the position until later in the draft. Instead, they could address cornerback with Diggs.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars: (via Los Angeles Rams): K’Lavon Chaisson, Edge, LSU
With Yannick Ngakoue wanting out of Jacksonville, his replacement could be found in Chaisson. While the LSU product will need to be developed, he has a quick burst off the line of scrimmage and knows how to create pressure.
21. Philadelphia Eagles: Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
After adding four defensive backs in free agency, that need is no longer as pressing for the Eagles. That’s why I’m holding with Jefferson here. Jefferson would give the Eagles a dangerous deep-ball target for Carson Wentz.
22. Minnesota Vikings (via Buffalo Bills): Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Minnesota’s cornerback play last season was a mess. Now with two first-round picks, the Vikings can address the position. Henderson or Diggs would be the preference, but Fulton is a good fit in Mike Zimmer’s defense.
23. New England Patriots: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
It’s hard to believe the Patriots will go into next season with either Jarrett Stidham or Brian Hoyer as their starting quarterback. A lot of work needs to be done to develop Love, but his tools are outstanding.
24. New Orleans Saints: Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, Colorado
New Orleans smartly brought in wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, and he is a good contrast to Michael Thomas. Now imagine a wide receiver group with those two and Shenault, a player Sean Payton can line up all over the place on offense.
25. Minnesota Vikings: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
Anthony Barr and Eric Kendricks are locked up for the next few years, but the Vikings could use another linebacker. Ben Gedeon has been an underwhelming fourth-round pick. Queen’s ability to chase down the ball would give the Vikings a good young linebacker to complete that unit.
26. Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans): Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
Putting McKinney on a defense that is being rebuilt would give head coach Brian Flores a versatile secondary player. McKinney can play single-high safety or in the slot. A secondary with Jones, McKinney, and Xavien Howard is suddenly one of the better groups in the NFL.
27. Seattle Seahawks: A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa
Epenesa isn’t what the Seahawks usually look for in a defensive end — he really doesn’t fit the Leo position Pete Carroll utilizes. But this is the same team that took L.J. Collier in the first round last year, so maybe their blueprint up front has changed.
28. Baltimore Ravens: Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
The Ravens added some beef on the defensive line, acquiring Michael Brockers and Calais Campbell. That should help fix the team’s run defense. Adding a linebacker like Murray could finish off the front seven.
29. Tennessee Titans: Terrell Lewis, Edge, Alabama
The Titans brought in Vic Beasley on a one-year prove it deal, so they’re not set longterm at pass rusher. Lewis could be a good rotational piece with Beasley and Harold Landry. That would help them stay fresh and give the Titans some options.
30. Green Bay Packers: Josh Jones, OT, Houston
After losing Bryan Bulaga in free agency, as expected, the Packers signed free agent Rick Wagner. Unfortunately, he never lived up to a big contract in Detroit and shouldn’t just be the assumed starter on the right side. If Jones slides, the Packers shouldn’t hesitate taking him. He’s an athletic blocker with enough power to push for a starting job as a rookie.
31. San Francisco 49ers: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson
The 49ers swung and missed on Dante Pettis, their second-round pick in the 2018 draft. They swung and hit a home run in the second round last year with Deebo Samuel. In this loaded class of wide receivers, the 49ers could take one more swing with a big receiver like Higgins. He’s a good outside target who will go up and get the ball. He’s not the fastest wide receiver, but the 49ers have plenty of speed.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Jeff Gladney, CB, TCU
The Super Bowl champions have been one of the quietest teams in free agency, doing little more than put the franchise tag on defensive lineman Chris Jones. The team’s needs are relatively the same, and they start at cornerback. Even if Gladney isn’t the biggest cornerback, he’s aggressive and coaches will love his style of play.

2021 NFL Undrafted Free Agents
Every year - once the final cuts have been made - I like to list which teams kept which undrafted rookies on their 53-man rosters. It can be very telling. Sometimes it indicates teams without great depth or salary-cap room. It can also be a sign of great talent being recognized against significant odds.
In short: it was a rough year for undrafted rookies. No team kept more than two, which is unusual. And 14 teams didn’t keep any!

Fox news One player each team must study at combine - NFL.com
Tumblr media
Fox news
The 2020 NFL Scouting Mix is mercurial drawing come, so we turned to NFL.com analyst and former NFL celebrated supervisor Charley Casserly to give us some insight on this three hundred and sixty five days's potentialities. Who may possibly also fair silent your team be discovering out at the occasion? Casserly identifies one participant for every franchise to preserve up shut tabs on in Indianapolis.
NOTE: Click on on every prospect's name for a paunchy scouting portray.
AFC East
BUFFALO BILLS: Tee Higgins, WR, Clemson. The Funds prefer to score extra components, so drafting a receiver early is certainly in play.
MIAMI DOLPHINS: J.Ok. Dobbins, RB, Ohio Suppose. Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa may maybe be the proper participant on this convey, however he is now not cleared for the physical section of the combine after having hip surgical operation. That mentioned, the Dolphins additionally desire a running again.
Tumblr media
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS: Ok'Lavon Chaisson, OLB, LSU. The quarterback quiz may possibly also fair silent be answered earlier than April's draft, and I maintain the Patriots may possibly also fair now not procure a appropriate trace at TE or OL later in the first spherical. They'll also enlighten a trip rusher and this class is deep with expertise.
NEW YORK JETS: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia. The Jets' offensive line struggled all the design in which thru the 2019 season and hindered Adam Gase's unit. Who greater to focal level on on this pre-draft route of than a respectable address?
AFC North
BALTIMORE RAVENS: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU. The Ravens will settle the most attention-grabbing participant available or exchange again. Queen may maybe be a sturdy addition to a unit that must again its front seven.
CINCINNATI BENGALS: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU. It is lining up for Burrow to be the constructing block of the franchise. We already know what he can enact on the sphere. The interview and profile testing are what Cincy may possibly also fair silent be most fascinated with.
CLEVELAND BROWNS: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama. The Browns prefer to shore up the O-line and Wills would certainly aid. NFL.com draft analyst Lance Zierlein lists Wills' professional comp as Jason Peters, which supplies him fascinating upside, however the Browns need him to play A LOT. That is the quiz Cleveland wants answered.
PITTSBURGH STEELERS: Ok.J. Hamler, WR, Penn Suppose. The Steelers desire a sail receiver to alleviate one of the vital crucial eye on JuJu Smith-Schuster. Hamler is the particular person, as a dynamic speedster who may possibly also excel in the slot. He's expected to register a sub-4.4 40-yard depart in Indy, which would possibly well also boost his stock.
AFC South
HOUSTON TEXANS: Jaylon Johnson, CB, Utah. Houston has a serious need at cornerback and Johnson may possibly also repair one of the vital crucial components. The Utah product is most efficient as a press nook at this level in his profession.
INDIANAPOLIS COLTS: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma. If the Colts can clear up their quarterback quiz in free company, they may be able to also mercurial private an explosive offense by including a top-tier receiver from this draft class. They desire a wideout to pair with T.Y. Hilton. Lamb's playmaking ability may possibly also fit the invoice and be available after they draft at 13th total.
JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS: Isaiah Simmons, LB/S, Clemson. Any participant on the 2nd and third phases will aid this Jaguars protection. Simmons is versatile and may possibly also possess a different of roles. What's his most efficient convey? No subject -- he'll right this moment construct this unit greater.
TENNESSEE TITANS: Jonathan Taylor, RB, Wisconsin. Will the Titans re-signal Derrick Henry? I maintain the league speeding champion will return to Nashville, however they must private a backup notion.
AFC West
DENVER BRONCOS: Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama. After trading Emmanuel Sanders away, the Broncos must procure a complement to an on-the-rise Courtland Sutton. With this deep receiver class, they must private several choices. Ruggs would add yet another playmaker to the offense and his elite sail may possibly also aid Drew Lock stretch the sphere.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS: Marlon Davidson, DE, Auburn. The senior defensive cease excelled in opposition to the bustle and trip in his closing three hundred and sixty five days at Auburn. He may possibly even be a appropriate fit for the Tremendous Bowl champions.
LAS VEGAS RAIDERS: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama. The Raiders private lacked a No. 1 receiver since trading Amari Cooper away in the heart of the 2018 season. (Undergo in thoughts the Antonio Brown fiasco?) Jeudy is the tip participant at his convey and would fit in neatly with Tyrell Williams, Hunter Renfrow and Darren Waller.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon. The Chargers' starting quarterback may possibly also fair now not be Philip Rivers for the first time since 2005. There's loads weighing on their QB decision this offseason. May possibly maybe well Herbert be the lengthy bustle?
NFC East
DALLAS COWBOYS: Xavier McKinley, S, Alabama. With Byron Jones hitting the originate market, the Cowboys desire a playmaker on the again cease. McKinley is a man who can play man and zone, construct an influence appropriate away and possess this need that Dallas has had for quite some time.
NEW YORK GIANTS: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville. The Giants are at some stage in of rebuilding their offensive line, and the address convey is predominant to retaining Daniel Jones. Becton may possibly even be a appropriate addition, and the combine will give Massive Blue answers as to what extra or less form he is in.
PHILADELPHIA EAGLES: Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU. The Eagles were extremely thin (and, to be resplendent, wound-riddled) at broad receiver closing season, so ask them to procure at this receiver class as a complete. Jefferson may possibly also pique their hobby.
WASHINGTON REDSKINS: Streak Younger, DE, Ohio Suppose. Younger is the most attention-grabbing participant in the draft. Period. He may maybe be a super fit in Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio's 4-3 protection.
NFC North
CHICAGO BEARS: Cole Kmet, TE, Notre Dame. The Bears' ideal need on offense is tight cease. There are several guys who would fit neatly in Matt Nagy's map, including Purdue's Brycen Hopkins, however why now not fair for the most efficient TE in his class in Kmet?
DETROIT LIONS: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn. The Lions desperately prefer to again their trip crawl and may possibly also procure the acknowledge in Brown, who generally beat opponents along with his quickness and energy at Auburn. Brown additionally has the skill position to boost Detroit's 21st-ranked bustle protection.
GREEN BAY PACKERS: Raekwon Davis, DT, Alabama. The bustle protection wants a good deal of aid and Davis boasts elite physical traits that will also dominate in the internal.
MINNESOTA VIKINGS: Austin Jackson, OT, USC. The offensive line must again this offseason, namely at address. Jackson is a top-five O-line prospect and may possibly also give the unit a make a selection.
NFC South
ATLANTA FALCONS: A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa. The Falcons prefer to herald some defensive aid. They are truly going to prefer to survey defensive ends in Indy to make obvious they gain a sturdy trip rusher in the first spherical, particularly with Vic Beasley hitting the market this offseason. Epenesa may possibly even be the ideal unusual threat on the D-line.
CAROLINA PANTHERS: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina. The Panthers private a good deal of defensive desires to possess with Luke Kuechly retiring and others hitting free company. There are a different of broad defensive potentialities on this class; Kinlaw is one who may possibly also make contributions from Day 1.
NEW ORLEANS SAINTS: Laviska Shenault, WR, Colorado. The Saints desire a participant to enhance Michael Thomas and this three hundred and sixty five days's class components a ton of choices. Shenault's physicality and ball abilities may possibly also add to an already-explosive offense.
TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa. The Bucs private several holes, however the offensive line is the one they private to focal level on in the draft. Wirfs supplies versatility along the line; he may possibly also play appropriate address or guard at the next stage.
NFC West
ARIZONA CARDINALS: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio Suppose. The Cardinals private larger wants than cornerback, however they may be able to also fair silent be fascinating if Okudah falls to them at No. 8. They're going to most likely enlighten a good deal of time searching at defensive tackles in Indy, though Okudah playing reverse Patrick Peterson is absorbing.
LOS ANGELES RAMS: Cesar Ruiz, OL, Michigan. The Rams' internal line struggled closing three hundred and sixty five days and Ruiz may maybe be an again at heart. Can he play guard at the next stage? That's a quiz that will be explored at the combine.
SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS: Damon Arnette, CB, Ohio Suppose. Their trip crawl covers up a good deal of weaknesses in the secondary. Arnette can play internal or originate air and would right this moment again the again cease of Robert Saleh's protection.
SEATTLE SEAHAWKS: Yetur Infamous-Matos, DE, Penn Suppose. Jadeveon Clowney is a free agent and the Ziggy Ansah experiment did now not work. The success of Seattle's protection starts with having a appropriate trip crawl. The athletic Infamous-Matos is a playmaker, as evidenced by his 17.5 sacks and 35 tackles for loss as a two-three hundred and sixty five days starter at Penn Suppose.

Here’s our latest NFL mock draft, right after the combine
Tumblr media
Where Tua Tagovailoa will end up is one of the biggest question marks of the 2020 NFL Draft.
A potential bombshell was dropped at the NFL Scouting Combine. What happens if Washington doesn’t draft Chase Young?
The NFL Scouting Combine is a wrap, and it’s leading to some serious speculation about the second overall pick.
We all know that the Cincinnati Bengals are poised to take LSU quarterback Joe Burrow first overall. But headlines were made when new Washington head coach Ron Rivera spoke to the media about his intentions with the second pick in the draft.
“Everything is an option,” Rivera said when asked about Alabama quarterback Tua Tagovailoa. “We’re not closing the door on anything.”
For now, that opens things up to discussion about Washington not taking Ohio State’s Chase Young. Here’s a look at how that could alter the first round, as well as some players who helped their stock at the combine.
1. Cincinnati Bengals: Joe Burrow, QB, LSU
Offseason needs: Quarterback, wide receiver, offensive tackle, linebacker
Forget that silly false narrative — Burrow has no problem playing for the Bengals. Adding to that, Bengals player personnel director Duke Tobin all but shot down the notion of trading the first pick in the draft. Put that together and the case is even stronger that Burrow is the No. 1 pick.
2. Washington: Tua Tagovailoa, QB, Alabama
Offseason needs: Offensive tackle, pass rusher, wide receiver, cornerback
You can’t dismiss the fact that Rivera was not part of the organization when it drafted Dwayne Haskins last year. And while Rivera said a team can win with Haskins, this seemed like much more of a damning quote.
“He’s not anointed, that’s for sure,” Rivera said during his media session. “I expect him to come in and compete and work, and we’ll see what happens.”
3. Detroit Lions: Chase Young, DE, Ohio State
Offseason needs: Cornerback, defensive tackle, pass rusher, wide receiver
No one will be happier if Tagovailoa goes second than the Lions. That leaves Young, the best player in the draft, for them. After giving Trey Flowers a five-year, $90 million contract last offseason, the Lions would have a lot of money tied up in their pass rush. But defensive ends of Young’s caliber make it worth it.
4. New York Giants: Isaiah Simmons, LB, Clemson
Offseason needs: Offensive tackle, pass rusher, linebacker, cornerback
Simmons, somehow, exceeded expectations at the combine with his insane workout. Call him a Derwin James clone. Or a taller Thomas Davis. No matter the comparison you prefer, Simmons is going to be a star in the NFL.
5. Miami Dolphins: Justin Herbert, QB, Oregon
Offseason needs: Quarterback, pass rusher, offensive tackle, running back, cornerback
Herbert stole the show during the quarterback portion of combine workouts, but not so much that he becomes one of the first two quarterbacks off the board. But if Tagovailoa is the No. 2 pick, the Dolphins could sit back at No. 5 and take Herbert.
6. Los Angeles Chargers: Jedrick Wills, OT, Alabama
Offseason needs: Quarterback, offensive tackle, cornerback, guard
Arguably no team will be hit harder by Tagovailoa going second than the Chargers. It would mean there’s a strong possibility on missing out on Herbert and going into next season either starting Tyrod Taylor or a free agent signing. Whomever is the quarterback in Los Angeles needs an improved line. If the Chargers can fix their line and add a couple of pieces here and there, they could be one of the surprise teams in the NFL next season.
7. Carolina Panthers: Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn
Offseason needs: Linebacker, defensive tackle, cornerback, quarterback
If three quarterbacks go in the first five picks, the Panthers can find themselves in position to get one of the draft’s elite players. Brown, at 325 pounds, is a powerhouse defensive tackle who can stuff the run and get after the quarterback. As new head coach Matt Rhule reshapes Carolina’s roster, Brown could be the centerpiece on defense.
8. Arizona Cardinals: Tristan Wirfs, OT, Iowa
Offseason needs: Offensive tackle, defensive tackle, wide receiver, pass rusher
It’s hard to decide who had the single most impressive combine, but you can’t go wrong saying it was Wirfs. He set a record for offensive linemen in the broad and vertical jumps, and he had the fast 40-yard dash time of all blockers in Indy this year. That was all at 320 pounds, too. Wirfs’ athleticism is legendary. The craziest thing? It’s all evident when you watch him play.
9. Jacksonville Jaguars: Jeff Okudah, CB, Ohio State
Offseason needs: Cornerback, wide receiver, linebacker, safety
Okudah had a brief injury scare at the combine, but it in no way should impact his draft stock. If the Jaguars target a defensive player and Simmons is gone, Okudah should get the nod over anyone else. He can lock down lead receivers for Jacksonville, and take a lot of the pressure off veteran A.J. Bouye.
10. Cleveland Browns: Mekhi Becton, OT, Louisville
Offseason needs: Offensive tackle (both sides), safety, linebacker, slot cornerback
Becton tipped the scales at the combine at 364 pounds and still managed to run the 40-yard dash in 5.1 seconds. That’s a lot of force at play. More importantly, Becton has shown he uses his size against defenders, both at the edge and in space.
11. New York Jets: Andrew Thomas, OT, Georgia
Offseason needs: Pass rusher, offensive tackle, wide receiver, cornerback
Leading up to the start of free agency, there are rumors of the Jets being the landing spot for Titans right tackle Jack Conklin — unless they are not. What happens with Conklin will determine what the Jets do with the 11th pick. If Conklin signs elsewhere, the Jets could take the fifth offensive tackle in first 11 picks. In most drafts that would be ridiculous. But in any other year, a player like Thomas would be in contention for the first five picks.
12. Las Vegas Raiders: CeeDee Lamb, WR, Oklahoma
Offseason needs: Wide receiver, cornerback, linebacker, quarterback
The Raiders could have their pick of wide receivers if we do see a big run on offensive tackles. Raiders general manager Mike Mayock explained what he’s looking for in a wide receiver, and Lamb fits the bill nicely.
13. Indianapolis Colts: Jerry Jeudy, WR, Alabama
Offseason needs: Quarterback, wide receiver, offensive tackle, defensive lineman
The Colts seem poised to sign a veteran quarterback this offseason, with Philip Rivers the likeliest possibility. If that happens, the Colts will be in win-now mode. With a good offensive line and solid running game, Indianapolis’ offense could be rounded out with a sure thing of a wide receiver like Jeudy.
14. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Javon Kinlaw, DT, South Carolina
Offseason needs: Quarterback, pass rushing defensive tackle, pass rusher, offensive tackle
Kinlaw sat out the combine because of tendinitis, but it shouldn’t ding his draft prospects. For the Buccaneers, Kinlaw would give them the type of pass-rushing interior defensive lineman that they need next to Vita Vea.
15. Denver Broncos: Henry Ruggs III, WR, Alabama
Offseason needs: Wide receiver, offensive tackle, cornerback, linebacker
Although Ruggs didn’t break John Ross’ 40-yard dash record, he still had an excellent combine. That means the discussion point will be about whether or not he’s jumped over Jeudy or Lamb. The Broncos should hope not. Ruggs is a perfect complement to Courtland Sutton and would give Denver a strong wide receiver duo.
16. Atlanta Falcons: K’Lavon Chaisson, Edge, LSU
Offseason needs: Edge rusher, interior pass rusher, cornerback, offensive tackle
Whether it’s Takkarist McKinley or Vic Beasley, Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff has shown he has a preferred type of pass rusher. This draft’s version is Chaisson, a speedy standup rusher with good athleticism.
17. Dallas Cowboys: Xavier McKinney, S, Alabama
Offseason needs: Safety, cornerback, defensive tackle, pass rusher
With the fate of Amari Cooper, Byron Jones, and Dak Prescott up in the air, the Cowboys are the most intriguing team going into free agency. What happens with that trio will determine the direction Dallas takes in the first round. Jones is the most likely to leave, putting defensive back squarely at the top of the team’s needs. McKinney bowed out of the combine with cramps, but he’s considered by many as the top safety this year.
18. Miami Dolphins (via Pittsburgh Steelers): A.J. Epenesa, DE, Iowa
Offseason needs: Quarterback, pass rusher, offensive tackle, running back, cornerback
If Epenesa slips past Atlanta and Dallas, the Dolphins should pounce. While they do need offensive line help, good pass rushers are hard to come by. Epenesa can play inside or outside for the Dolphins.
19. Las Vegas Raiders (via Chicago Bears): Kenneth Murray, LB, Oklahoma
Offseason needs: Wide receiver, cornerback, linebacker, quarterback
While everyone is rightfully excited about what the offensive linemen and wide receivers did at the combine, it’s easy to overlook Murray’s performance. He ran a 4.52-second 40 and had good vertical, bench press, and broad jump numbers. There’s some ambiguity to his exact position as a linebacker, but the Raiders need a talent like him on their defense.
20. Jacksonville Jaguars: (via Los Angeles Rams): Justin Jefferson, WR, LSU
Offseason needs: Cornerback, wide receiver, linebacker, safety
Jefferson was a first-round player before the combine and did well to bolster his draft status. Jefferson is a stellar slot receiver with speed and sure hands.
21. Philadelphia Eagles: CJ Henderson, CB, Florida
Offseason needs: Wide receiver, cornerback, linebacker, safety
There was plenty of speculation from NFL Network’s Daniel Jeremiah during the combine broadcast that Henderson is a top-15 pick. If he happens to drop to this range, the Eagles should snag him. Philadelphia has multiple free agent cornerbacks, and Rasul Douglas and Sidney Jones just haven’t developed as expected.
22. Buffalo Bills: Jalen Reagor, WR, TCU
Offseason needs: Pass rusher, big wide receiver, interior defensive lineman, cornerback
With Tee Higgins sitting out the combine and Laviska Shenault limited by injury, Reagor could rise ahead of them in April. Reagor may not be the 6’2 or 6’3-type of receiver the Bills need, but he plays bigger than his 5’11 size, and he showed it with a 42-inch vertical leap.
23. New England Patriots: Jordan Love, QB, Utah State
Offseason needs: Pass rusher, tight end, offensive tackle, quarterback
Even if the Patriots get Tom Brady back, or acquire a veteran quarterback, they should strongly consider Love if he’s available. Love is a project, but the Patriots could refresh their franchise if he’s coached up correctly.
24. New Orleans Saints: Laviska Shenault Jr., WR, Colorado
Offseason needs: Cornerback, interior offensive lineman, wide receiver, quarterback
A cornerback will be intriguing here, but in Drew Brees’ final years, the Saints could stack their offense for a Super Bowl push. Shenault didn’t do much in Indianapolis and has to undergo surgery. In other words, you have to trust what Shenault did at Colorado to justify a first-round pick.
25. Minnesota Vikings: Austin Jackson, OT, USC
Offseason needs: Cornerback, offensive line, defensive tackle, wide receiver
If Jackson and Houston’s Josh Jones are both available, the Vikings should flip a coin and choose whichever one it lands on. Both are a step below the top four offensive tackles, but have starting ability as rookies. Jackson is a quick blocker and handles speed rushers nicely. In a division with Khalil Mack, Za’Darius Smith, and potentially Young, the Vikings will need that type of blocker.
26. Miami Dolphins (via Houston Texans): Josh Jones, OT, Houston
Offseason needs: Quarterback, pass rusher, offensive tackle, running back, cornerback
If the Dolphins come out of the first round with a new starting quarterback, pass rusher, and offensive tackle, that’s an A+ draft. That’s right, we’re already talking about draft grades.
27. Seattle Seahawks: Isaiah Wilson, OT, Georgia
Offseason needs: Pass rusher, wide receiver, interior offensive lineman, offensive tackle
Going into the combine, people were sleeping on the massive Wilson. Maybe it’s because he was only a redshirt sophomore and sat out Georgia’s bowl game. But the long-limbed, 350-pound right tackle looked good at the combine and may have pushed his way into the first round.
28. Baltimore Ravens: Patrick Queen, LB, LSU
Offseason needs: Linebacker, wide receiver, pass rusher, cornerback
I’m sticking with this pick from last week. Queen suffered a hamstring injury at the combine, yet still put up a 4.5 in the 40. That shows his athleticism to a degree. It’s the type of athleticism Baltimore needs on defense.
29. Tennessee Titans: Julian Okwara, Edge, Notre Dame
Offseason needs: Pass rusher, offensive tackle, quarterback, tight end
A leg injury limited Okwara to only doing the bench press at the combine, which is unfortunate. Several teams in this range are after a pass rusher, but Okwara might slide over concerns about his health. If he does, Tennessee could take a chance in the back for the first round and find a partner for Harold Landry.
30. Green Bay Packers: Brandon Aiyuk, WR, Arizona State
Offseason needs: Wide receiver, linebacker, offensive lineman, tight end
This would be a great spot for either Jefferson or Reagor, but both were gone in this scenario. This is actually a tough draw all around for the Packers. The best offensive linemen and linebackers are all gone, and there isn’t a tight end worth a first-round pick this year. Aiyuk is a fringe first-round player with his ability to get deep and make a play after the catch.
31. San Francisco 49ers: Grant Delpit, S, LSU
Offseason needs: Safety, cornerback, offensive lineman, linebacker
Despite an impressive showing by Lenoir-Rhyne’s Kyle Dugger at the combine, I’m still sticking with Delpit to the 49ers. With Jimmie Ward potentially gone in free agency, the 49ers can find his replacement near the end of the first round.
32. Kansas City Chiefs: Kristian Fulton, CB, LSU
Offseason needs: Linebacker, cornerback, running back, offensive lineman
Between Fulton, Clemson’s A.J. Terrell, or Mississippi State’s Cameron Dantzler, the Chiefs should have some solid cornerback options with the 32nd pick. Fulton had 25 passes defensed the last two seasons and comes out of an LSU program that knows how to develop secondary players.

1973 Ford Pinto: Gapp & Roush’s Fast Little Pro Stock Pony
In many respects, the domestic automotive scene in the early- to mid-1970s was a growingly dismal situation. The end of the muscle-car era arrived, compression ratios plummeted, 5-mph bumpers debuted, the oil embargo hit, and subcompact economy cars began to sell in volume. While doom and gloom dominated dealer showrooms, all was not lost in the world of high performance. Production-based race cars were running faster than ever, and those new subcompacts that were so underwhelming in factory form, were solidly embraced in Pro Stock. Pintos, Vegas, Gremlins, and Colts were quickly becoming the standard-bearer in the top door-slammer class, and few found more success in the early 1970s than the Ford team of Wayne Gapp and Jack Roush.
While not sponsored by Ford itself (Ford ended motorsports support at the end of 1970), Gapp and Roush had a long history with the Blue Oval. Both Gapp and Roush were engine engineers for Ford, and Gapp was a longtime drag racer. To say the least, Ford connections ran deep for the duo who first paired up in 1971 with a Pro Stock Boss 429 Maverick, which was soon followed by a Pro Stock Pinto in 1972.
The car you see here is believed to be the second Pinto campaigned by G&R, this one’s chassis being built by Tom Smith of Wolverine Chassis. It was one of two G&R Pintos the team campaigned for 1973, with the other being destroyed at a race in St. Louis. NHRA Pro Stock rules at the time awarded the season championship to the winner of the World Finals, no matter their performance at the six previous races. Jack Roush offered an interesting 1973 World Finals story to us when we discussed the Pinto with him recently. “We ended up running Bill Jenkins in the final, and ‘Grumpy’ had been running about half a tenth faster than us all weekend. I’d been doing some evaluation of parasitic losses due to lubricating oils and figured we could pick up a bit if we ran less oil. I put the Pinto on jackstands and got under the car with a 5-gallon bucket. We were pitted next to Jenkins, and he just stood there and watched. I drained a third of the engine oil, half the dif oil, and all of the transmission oil out of the car. In the final, Wayne picked up one- to two-tenths, and we won the race.” And with that, Gapp and Roush had secured the 1973 Pro Stock Championship. As an aside, Gapp won two races and was runner-up in two more, a combination that no other Pro Stock driver achieved in 1973.
We can date this photo to 1974; the 1 Pro stickers on the window indicate the prior year’s championship. Here, Wayne Gapp is his typical wheels-up while Jack Roush observes from behind.
G&R debuted their famous Tijuana Taxi four-door Maverick during 1974, at which point the Pinto wasn’t the team’s featured vehicle moving forward. However, it did continue to race through the 1975 season and was then sold in Spring 1976 to privateer Tim Goodner of Minnesota. In an interview with Pro Stock photographer Dan Williams, Goodner explained that he purchased the Pinto for $6,000 sans engine, and Gapp himself gave him one particularly sage tip: “Don’t mess with the suspension.” Goodner proceeded to race the car as “Genesis” in C/G and C/MP with a Boss 302, primarily in Division 5. He eventually concluded that just qualifying for the Pro Stock field was a better payout than winning a Sportsman class outright, so Goodner returned the Pinto to the Pro Stock ranks. In 1978, he updated the car to appear as a ’76, fitting a new grille and bigger bumpers (among other things) to comply with NHRA rules that mandated Pro Stock cars to appear within five years of manufacture. Goodner stopped racing after the 1982 season, as the debut of 500-inch engines effectively ended the competitiveness of his Genesis operation. His best run in the 1981/1982 era is said to have been an 8.89 e.t.
This photo is circa 1978, after second-owner Tim Goodner updated the car to 1976 appearance specs with big bumpers and egg-crate grille. The NHRA required Pro Stock cars to appear within five years of manufacture.
It’s at the end of the Goodner era that the trail of the 1973 Championship Pinto goes a bit cold. Goodner says he sold the car at the end of 1982 to a racer in New Orleans and heard that it was sold again by the late-1980s to someone in Ohio. About the same time, fellow Pinto racer Jim Evanuik was turned on to an ex-G&R Pinto being sold in Kentucky, believed to be the same car, and alerted his friend Bob Sharp. Sharp ended up purchasing the Pinto and enthusiastically bracket-raced it for a decade or so around the Northeast, now lettered as the “Gambler.” Evanuik built a 400M-derived engine for the car and paired it with a Powerglide for “easy 9.40s.”
When Sharp put the Pinto up for sale in National Dragster in 2000, Rob Holzman noticed the G&R lineage and mentioned it to Ford collector Brent Hajek of Ames, Oklahoma. Says Hajek, “Rob and I went out to buy the car, and right away took it to the track to have some fun. We probably made 25 passes one weekend, and I turned it over to Rob for some freshening and a return to its Gapp & Roush appearance.”
Besides a fresh paintjob, Holzman’s main task was to get a period drivetrain back in the car. He did just that by using a former Bob Glidden 351C that Hajek had acquired through former Tasca mechanic John Healy. Holzman also fitted a period-correct Lenco four-speed. You’ll note that much of the interior is well-used, and Rob believes the carpet, seats, door panels, and more are per original G&R days. Other items are not to original spec, but acknowledge several decades of evolution and history. As an example, the mods that make the car appear as a ’76 were actually never seen with Gapp & Roush livery—rather, this was done during the car’s Genesis era.
Speaking of the Genesis era, then-owner Goodner reportedly showed up to try and qualify the Pinto in Pro Stock, perhaps for the first time under his ownership, at the 1977 NHRA Springnationals. During tech, Goodner was disqualified for having a rollcage that was made of “too-thin” material. When he asked how the same ’cage passed when it was being raced by Gapp & Roush, he was told that inspectors figured it had been built in a legal manner since it was done by one of the leading teams. Go figure! The DQ required Goodner to have the ’cage rebuilt, and upon returning to Minnesota, he turned to Don Ness for the necessary work. Clearly, it wasn’t the first modification ever made to this historic Pinto, and it certainly wouldn’t be the last!
Tech Notes Who: Brent Hajek What: 1973 Ford Pinto Pro Stock Where: Ames, OK
Engine: Ford’s 351 Cleveland was beginning to become a favorite powerplant for the Ford camp by 1973, with Gapp & Roush leading the charge. Hajek’s current engine came in a roundabout way after Bob Glidden sold off his Cleveland parts to John Healy when Glidden switched to Boss 429s. The block is a rare furnace-brazed Boss 351 casting with markings that indicate a Roush origin. G&R engines typically used an internally balanced Boss crank, Brooks aluminum rods and pistons, and a General Kinetics valvetrain and roller cam (period article mentions specs of 321/330 degrees duration and 0.721/0.700-inch lift). Much-modified Boss 351 cylinder heads feature raised-exhaust port plates to straighten the exhaust port (again, these heads once being in the Glidden inventory). A modified Edelbrock tunnel-ram mounted twin Holley Dominators. Sounds simple, but the truth was infinitely more complicated!
Exhaust: Custom JR headers.
Transmission: Rob Holzman performed the mechanical restoration of the Pinto in 2000 and reinstalled a Lenco four-speed, per original. Remarked Holzman, “Even though it had a Powerglide in it when Brent bought it, the original mounts and holes for the Lenco were still there and were used when we reinstalled the trans.”
Rearend: Ford 9-inch with 5.68 gears, a spool, and Strange axles.
Chassis/Suspension: Gapp and Roush had Tom Smith’s Wolverine Chassis build the chassis for this car, one of many Pintos Wolverine did in the era. The front suspension was a production-based double A-arm arrangement with Koni coilovers, while the rear suspension featured Koni coilovers, a Watts link, and adjustable ladder bars.
Brakes: Strange 4-wheel discs.
Wheels/Tires: Period photos during the 1973 season generally show the Pinto running Motor Wheel Flys up front and Spyders in the rear. The 1975 images show Flys all around by the end of the G&R era, and that’s the way the Pinto appears today. Appearances can be deceiving, however, because the current wheels were actually custom-made by Bogart to strongly resemble Flys. The 15×3.5/15×12-inch rims are shod with Moroso frontrunners and Firestone 14.5/32.0-15 slicks.
Interior: The interior is pretty much as found in 2000, which is to say that it’s circa 1973 with various revisions through the years. Holzman tells us he believes the carpet, dash, seats, and door panels to be original, and likely other bits and pieces as well.
Exterior: Roush tells us that the G&R Pinto was so fresh when it arrived at the 1973 Winternats in Pomona, that it had yet to be painted: “Pomona ended up getting postponed for a week due to rain, so we took it to a nearby shop and had it painted in the interim.” A period article in Super Stock credited Tom Stratton for that paint job with multi-color accents, which was replicated in 2000. Fiberglass panels were used for the hood, hatch, fenders, and dash.
