I love milk, and you can call me Milk.
I have an autistic curse that makes me gay for most cartoon or video game characters I hyperfixate on.
I write only for fun and when I want to, so the quality may vary, although I try my best to write long posts and fics.
I'm an adult, there might be some spicy things on this blog that will be properly tagged and spoilered under a line. Minors don't interact with a post tagged đ.

5 of Swords ~ Bachus Tarot
The Five of Swords is a battle with no winners. One person might gain from the experienceâhe is collecting the swords of his opponents. But itâs not clear that he actually won, or if others simply abandoned their weapons as they were leaving the scene of battle. It is a card where one person attempts to connect with another, but instead of using their hands or their words, they use weapons. And no one wins in that scenario. Possibly a fight that must be abandoned, possibly a situation from which nothing can be gained.
In 1998 director Terry Gilliam had an idea for a film of Miguel de Cervantesâs classic, Don Quixote. He signed up an all-star cast, led by Johnny Depp and Miranda Richardson, he had a clever twist on the story, and he was coming off of the successes of his Academy Awardânominated and financially successful films The Fisher King and 12 Monkeys, and the cult-film favorite Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas. But from the very beginning, the production was plagued with problems. There was a flood, and then military planes kept flying overhead, making the audio useless. The actor playing Quixote suffered an injury and had to be flown to a hospital. Then there were issues with the investors and the insurance company. The whole production had to be shut down, and the film was believed to be dead.
Gilliam would not give up. He assembled a new cast and began moving the film toward production. But again problems arose almost immediately, and actors had to quit because of scheduling conflicts. Gilliam still would not give up. He assembled a new cast and began again.
Meanwhile, he worked on other projects. His previous films, before he began working on Don Quixote, were all financial and artistic risks, but most paid off and became classics. Brazil shows up regularly on the lists of the best movies of the twentieth century, Monty Python and the Holy Grail is a beloved film that has been wildly influential and adapted into a successful Broadway musical, Spamalot. But the films that came after Gilliam refused to give up on Don Quixote, from The Brothers Grimm to The Zero Theorem, have been seen as self-indulgent and too cerebral with no heart. They have failed to connect with critics or audiences. Itâs as if his iron grip on Don Quixote, refusing to abandon the project, had drained the joy out of his work.
Thatâs a Five of Swords situation. You are engaged in a fight even though you know deep down there is no way to win. But youâve invested so much time, so much thought and money, that you canât give up on the dream. Your pride is such that itâs not that you canât stand not winning, itâs that you canât stand the idea of losing. It has blinded you to the reality that this is not going to work. The only thing you can do is to drop the idea wholesale and walk away. Put that energy into a new project instead of squandering it on something that isnât meant to be.

I absolutely love Vito and Carmela too! By all accounts they had a happy and loving marriage, so good for them :3 Is Vito your inspiration for Danielâs dad in Mobland? Is his mom Lucille or Carmela?
Hi Nonnie, if you want to learn more about Daniel's family, I have a lot of these fills archived on my Ao3:
Yes, Vito is the main inspiration, but there's also the pictures of Ralph and Bob on Broadway:
And Cobra Kai canon. So Daniel's father was born Antonio Andolini, who changed his name to Anthony LaRusso because he was extremely good at knifing people to death. His wife is Lucille (who is not unlike the mom in A Bronx Tale), children are Louie/Luigi, Vanessa, Michael/Miguele and Daniel/Daniele. Antonio's younger brother is Vincent LaRusso, who is married to Lisa, with their son Billy.
Which, you know is still 90% Vito, of course, but he ages not into Brando but into De Niro's other characters. Michael is still 100% Al Pacino, but he's not acting as Don. I like Daniel LaRusso with Michael because they're each others inversions: two beautiful men, one with all Vito's cunning and ambition but none of his heart and one with all of his heart, plenty of cunning but none of his ambition. The Fredo character here is Louie, who doesn't mind being a henchman as long as his mate Anoush is safe and happy and his children like him. Michael is rather happily married to Apollonia after Daniel's urging to for heaven's sake stop pestering sweet Kay. Michael's children are Antonio (because Daniel beat him to Anthony) and Mary, for now.
I'm sorry to not include Carmela, but I love Daniel's dynamic with his Mom, and how she might react to Terry!

My Cousin Vinny (1992) dir- Jonathan Lynn
some facts about the movie i find interesting-
â˘this is one of my favourite movies. a lot of people were considered for the role of vinny gambini, (including robert de niro and danny devito) but joe pesci was cast finally.
â˘the character of mona lisa vito (played by marisa tomei) was almost cut out of the film entirely, but the scene about the 'biological clock' was what saved it finally.
â˘this movie is extremely accurate pertaining to the legal court parts of the film, and clips are also shown in law schools
â˘vinny gambini was originally supposed to be dyslexic
â˘will smith was originally considered for the role of stanley rothenstein played by mitchell whitfield
â˘the scenes in the prison were shot in a real prison with real prisoners shouting at the actors in the scene (mitchell whitfield as stan and ralph machhio as gambini)
(i may or may not know this film by heart heh)

The Morning After - Oscars 2019 Edition
My favourite photo from the 91st Academy Awards
My two favourite moments from last nightâs Oscars are better represent in audio, those being Olivia Colemanâs speech when she won Best Actress over the heavily favoured Glenn Close, and when Rayka Zehtabchi exclaimed âI canât believe a film on menstruation won an Oscar!â
It was fun keeping up with everyoneâs reactions and remarks during the awards, and chiming in with many of my own even though I do, as always, find the speed of twitter a little breakneck. Also friends and colleagues who, knowing that Iâm a big movie buff, came by or message me to discuss last nightâs show. At times we got animated enough that random passerbys and company VPs felt the need to chime in, which is the best gathering of the minds possible in my world.
Hereâs a list of the winners and what I thought of each recipient:
Best Picture
âBlack Pantherâ âBlacKkKlansmanâ âBohemian Rhapsodyâ âThe Favouriteâ âGreen Bookâ (WINNER) âRomaâ âA Star Is Bornâ âViceâ
While not entirely classy of Spike Lee to turn his back when Green Book was announced, he was able to joke about it later that every time a film about driving was pit against his own film, he would lose to it (Do the Right Thing lost to Driving Miss Daisy) My silver lining was knowing that TIFF audiences picked yet another Best Picture winner. We do have quite a track record, donât we? I really thought the Academy was going to make a different type of history in diversity by awarding a foreign film (Roma) with Best Picture. Or at least Black Panther, that wouldâve been cool too.
Director
Spike Lee, âBlacKkKlansmanâ Pawel Pawlikowski, âCold Warâ Yorgos Lanthimos, âThe Favouriteâ Alfonso CuarĂłn, âRomaâ (WINNER) Adam McKay, âViceâ
I agree with this win.
Lead Actress
Yalitza Aparicio, âRomaâ Glenn Close, âThe Wifeâ Olivia Colman, âThe Favouriteâ (WINNER) Lady Gaga, âA Star Is Bornâ Melissa McCarthy, âCan You Ever Forgive Me?â
I was ecstatic to have guessed wrong in my Oscar picks for this category. Both Olivia Coleman and Glenn Close were such strong contenders (as was Melissa McCarthy). Glenn Close carried her film, Olivia Coleman elevated her already very good movie to another level.
Lead Actor
Christian Bale, âViceâ Bradley Cooper, âA Star Is Bornâ Willem Dafoe, âAt Eternityâs Gateâ Rami Malek, âBohemian Rhapsodyâ (WINNER) Viggo Mortensen, âGreen Bookâ
Itâs nice that Rami Malek won, and I guessed he would. But I think Christian Bale was still better.
Original Song
âAll The Starsâ from âBlack Pantherâ by Kendrick Lamar, SZA âIâll Fightâ from âRBGâ by Diane Warren, Jennifer Hudson âThe Place Where Lost Things Goâ from âMary Poppins Returnsâ by Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman âShallowâ from âA Star Is Bornâ by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando, Andrew Wyatt and Benjamin Rice (WINNER) âWhen A Cowboy Trades His Spurs For Wingsâ from âThe Ballad of Buster Scruggsâ by David Rawlings and Gillian Welch
I donât think any other song legitimately had a chance.Â
Original Score
âBlacKkKlansman,â Terence Blanchard âBlack Panther,â Ludwig Goransson (WINNER) âIf Beale Street Could Talk,â Nicholas Britell âIsle of Dogs,â Alexandre Desplat âMary Poppins Returns,â Marc Shaiman, Scott Wittman
One last time Iâll say this: Where was First Man? After not seeing it on the list I really had no one to root for.
Adapted Screenplay
âThe Ballad of Buster Scruggs,â Joel Coen , Ethan Coen âBlacKkKlansman,â Charlie Wachtel, David Rabinowitz, Kevin Willmott, Spike Lee (WINNER) âCan You Ever Forgive Me?,â Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty âIf Beale Street Could Talk,â Barry Jenkins âA Star Is Born,â Eric Roth, Bradley Cooper, Will Fetters
I think a writing Oscar is an excellent award for Spike Lee to win. Iâm rarely familiar with the original story vs its adaptation, therefore itâs hard to say who did the best job of adapting their source material. That said, any way you slice it, BlacKkKlansman was a great script.
Original Screenplay
âThe Favourite,â Deborah Davis, Tony McNamara âFirst Reformed,â Paul Schrader âGreen Book,â Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie, Peter Farrelly (WINNER) âRoma,â Alfonso CuarĂłn âVice,â Adam McKay
While I put my money on Green Book, I canât fathom why anyone would think itâs a better script than The Favourite nor Vice (I didnât see First Reformed, and I think Roma is at least on par with Green Book) Destroyer was an original script right? Iâm personally disappointed it wasnât up for any writing awards.
Live Action Short Film
âDetainment,â Vincent Lambe âFauve,â Jeremy Comte âMarguerite,â Marianne Farley âMother,â Rodrigo Sorogoyen âSkin,â Guy Nattiv (WINNER)
I didnât watch any of the shorts this year.
Visual Effects
âAvengers: Infinity Warâ âChristopher Robinâ âFirst Manâ (WINNER) âReady Player Oneâ âSolo: A Star Wars Storyâ
Again, please to be wrong in this category. If anything I would have said First Man stood out more in audio achievement, but visual effects were also excellent and Iâm glad the film got at least one Oscar because it is such a fine technical achievement.
Documentary Short Subject
âBlack Sheep,â Ed Perkins âEnd Game,â Rob Epstein, Jeffrey Friedman âLifeboat,â Skye Fitzgerald âA Night at the Garden,â Marshall Curry âPeriod. End of Sentence.,â Rayka Zehtabchi (WINNER)
Amazing acceptance speech. I want to see this now.
Animated Short
âAnimal Behaviour,â Alison Snowden, David Fine âBao,â Domee Shi (WINNER) âLate Afternoon,â Louise Bagnall âOne Small Step,â Andrew Chesworth, Bobby Pontillas âWeekends,â Trevor Jimenez
Also a fine, inspiring acceptance speech by Domee Shi. I didnât see any other shorts but I did watch Bao several times over and my Torontonian pride swelled when it won. Growing up Asian, thereâs a lot of embedded humour in this short as well, the husband character is still my absolute favourite.Â
Animated Feature
âIncredibles 2,â Brad Bird âIsle of Dogs,â Wes Anderson âMirai,â Mamoru Hosoda âRalph Breaks the Internet,â Rich Moore, Phil Johnston âSpider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse,â Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman (WINNER)
I really gotta see this movie.
Supporting Actor
Mahershala Ali, âGreen Bookâ (WINNER) Adam Driver, âBlacKkKlansmanâ Sam Elliott, âA Star Is Bornâ Richard E. Grant, âCan You Ever Forgive Me?â Sam Rockwell, âViceâ
As expected. Though Richard E Grant is still my favourite, anyone catch his interview with Ryan Seacrest on the red carpet? And how heâs besties with Melissa McCarthy now? Love it.
Film Editing
âBlacKkKlansman,â Barry Alexander Brown âBohemian Rhapsody,â John Ottman (WINNER) âGreen Book,â Patrick J. Don Vito âThe Favourite,â Yorgos Mavropsaridis âVice,â Hank Corwin
Fixing up a film in editing doesnât warrant it as best edited film of the year! I cannot believe Bohemain Rhapsody won in this category. Especially again films such as The Favourite and Vice, the formerâs editing has a hand in shaping its visual mastery, the latter is entirely built from the art of editing. What the hell?
Foreign Language Film
âCapernaumâ (Lebanon) âCold Warâ (Poland) âNever Look Awayâ (Germany) âRomaâ (Mexico) (WINNER) âShopliftersâ (Japan)
Capernaum was still better ;)Â
Sound Mixing
âBlack Panther,â Steve Boeddeker, Brandon Proctor and Peter Devlin âBohemian Rhapsody,â Paul Massey, Tim Cavagin and John Casali (WINNER) âFirst Man,â Jon Taylor, Frank A. MontaĂąo, Ai-Ling Lee and Mary H. Ellis âRoma,â Skip Lievsay, Craig Henighan and JosĂŠ Antonio GarcĂa âA Star Is Born,â Tom Ozanich, Dean Zupancic, Jason Ruder and Steve Morrow
-and-Â
Sound Editing
âBlack Panther,â Benjamin A. Burtt, Steve Boeddeker âBohemian Rhapsody,â John Warhurst (WINNER) âFirst Man,â Ai-Ling Lee, Mildred Iatrou Morgan âA Quiet Place,â Ethan Van der Ryn, Erik Aadahl âRoma,â Sergio Diaz, Skip Lievsay
Just because a film is about music doesnât automatically qualify it for best sound! Have all the Academy voters gone out of their mind??? If youâre gonna go by that misguided logic then at least give it to A Star is Born. Itâs been a day and I still canât fathom how anyone could think the sound editing of Bohemian Rhapsody is better than First Man, A Quiet Place, and Roma!
Cinematography
âCold War,â Lukasz Zal âThe Favourite,â Robbie Ryan âNever Look Away,â Caleb Deschanel âRoma,â Alfonso CuarĂłn (WINNER) âA Star Is Born,â Matthew Libatique
This was a pretty stacked category and Alfonso Cuaron did make a beautiful looking film. I donât know if it was more striking that Cold War or The Favourite, but all in all he did deserve the win.
Production Design
âBlack Panther,â Hannah Beachler (WINNER) âFirst Man,â Nathan Crowley, Kathy Lucas âThe Favourite,â Fiona Crombie, Alice Felton âMary Poppins Returns,â John Myhre, Gordon Sim âRoma,â Eugenio Caballero, BĂĄrbara EnrÄąĚquez
Fine. At least it wasnât Roma, and I get that more often than not the period film usually wins it, so itâs cool to shake it up. The Favourite is still my fav.
Costume Design
âThe Ballad of Buster Scruggs,â Mary Zophres âBlack Panther,â Ruth E. Carter (WINNER) âThe Favourite,â Sandy Powell âMary Poppins Returns,â Sandy Powell âMary Queen of Scots,â Alexandra Byrne
Again, I like The Favourite more.
Makeup and Hairstyling
âBorder,â GĂśran LundstrĂśm and Pamela Goldammer âMary Queen of Scots,â Jenny Shircore, Marc Pilcher and Jessica Brooks âVice,â Greg Cannom, Kate Biscoe and Patricia Dehaney (WINNER)
Iâd have been surprised if anyone else won.
Documentary Feature
âFree Solo,â Jimmy Chin, Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi (WINNER) âHale County This Morning, This Evening,â RaMell Ross âMinding the Gap,â Bing Liu âOf Fathers and Sons,â Talal Derki âRBG,â Betsy West, Julie Cohen
:) Thatâs the one I picked.
Supporting Actress
Amy Adams, âViceâ Marina de Tavira, âRomaâ Regina King, âIf Beale Street Could Talkâ (WINNER) Emma Stone, âThe Favouriteâ Rachel Weisz, âThe Favouriteâ
I preferred Rachel Weisz and Emma Stoneâs performances. Amy Adams even.
So, thatâs it for awards season 2019. I did pitiful in my predictions this year because I was way off on the technical awards, not to mention some big ones too like Best Picture.Â
Iâll wrap it up by recommending that you watch First Man (with a good sound set up as it is superb technical, has a great score, and supporting actress Claire Foy), Destroyer (for its story and Nicole Kidman), The Hate U Give (that delivers a much stronger message than Green Book ever will), and Beautiful Boy (where supporting actor Timothee Chalamet actually has a sizable role).

I liked this yearâs Oscars; had to watch it over two days on DVRâŚbut it was fun. I especially liked 3 of the song nominee performances: Bette Midler (Mary Poppins), Jennifer Hudson (RGB), Lady Gaga/Bradley Cooper (A Star if Born). Loved Olivia Colmanâs and Alfonso Cuaronâs acceptance speeches, too.
Thanks to the 19 of you who played; the biggest turnout thanks to Sam getting his friends to play! This was fun.
Winners: stand-by your mail boxes for your coveted 2019 Oscar Pool prize-in-the-mail!! (small type: you must send me a photo of you with your prize-in-the-mail and be available at anytime for interviews and TV appearances!)
Congratulations again Jane, Caroline, Josh, Sam, and Diana!

Random comments below from me with the full list (updated 3/11/19):
Best Picture:
âBlack Pantherâ - JT: Fun but sometimes get bored by marvel-type movies
âBlacKkKlansmanâ - JT: Sam says problematic FBI wrong doings, we liked it
âBohemian Rhapsodyâ - JT: well done. Debbie has seen this at least 3 times!Â
âThe Favouriteâ - JT: I liked it but a bit dark for me
âGreen Bookâ - winner. JT: entertaining, but bit dated, formulaic. Lots of criticism out there on this choice.Â
âRomaâ - JT: great
âA Star Is Bornâ - JT: I want to see this. Thereâs an âencoreâ version playing in NY for one week w/20 extra minutes..
3/11/19 update: we saw the âEncoreâ this weekend. 12 extra minutes...I loved it and thought Bradley Cooper did a great job and what a good singer! Lady Gaga was amazing, what a good actress! Very sweet, romantic, believable (except for two glaring moments to me: one when they first met and two, when they first sing together). Otherwise, now I want to get to know the soundtrack and see the other versions (Streisand, Judy Garland, Mitzi Gaynor). I just bought âAmerican Sniperâ with Bradley Cooper on Google Play for $3.99...
âViceâÂ
Lead Actor:
Christian Bale, âViceâ
Bradley Cooper, âA Star Is Bornâ
Willem Dafoe, âAt Eternityâs Gateâ
Rami Malek, âBohemian Rhapsodyâ - winner
Viggo Mortensen, âGreen Bookâ - JT: just saw yesterday at the schmancy dine-in IPic theatre South Street Seaport. Thought he was really good and should have won best actor, though I loved, loved Ramiâs performance. Havenât seen much Viggo - his movies are too rough for me
Lead Actress:
Yalitza Aparicio, âRomaâ
Glenn Close, âThe Wifeâ - she was good, but I found the movie mediocre, so not surprised she didnât win this time
Olivia Colman, âThe Favouriteâ - winner

Melissa McCarthy, âCan You Ever Forgive Me?â - JT: excellent movie and she was amazing; could have won this.Â
Supporting Actor:
Mahershala Ali, âGreen Bookâ - winner
