A day after her disappearance, Deepika Padukone's former manager appeared at the NCB office.

Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone's manager Karisma Prakash appeared at the Narcotics Control Bureau office on Wednesday as per the scheduled date after being missing for a day. Incidentally, a search of NCB Karisma Versova's house turned up 1.8 grams of hashish and three bottles of CBD oil. The NCB then summoned him.

Investigators said Karisma was missing and did not respond to a summons. Karisma Prakash had applied for interim bail before appearing for questioning at the NCB office on Wednesday. According to a Mumbai court order, Karisma cannot be arrested till November 8. According to special sources, Karisma has already left the talent agency Kewan. He is not even associated with Deepika Padukone in any way.

It is learned that NCB has sent summons to Karisma as well as employees of Kewan Talent Agency. This Kewan Talent Agency has a big role to play in proving Bollywood drug addiction. Incidentally, the investigation took a turn after the body of Bollywood actor Sushant Singh Rajput was recovered from a flat in Bandra on June 14. The NCB has launched an investigation into Bollywood's drug addiction, where Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet are being questioned.

No truth in 'clean chit to Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor': NCB

The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) on Wednesday refuted claims about clean chit given to Bollywood divas Deepika Padukone, Shraddha Kapoor, Sara Ali Khan and others questioned in connection with the drugs case surrounding the death Sushant Singh Rajput, saying such reports are “devoid” of “truth and facts”.

“The news article mentioning that the drugs law enforcement agency giving clean chit to those examined by NCB is devoid of the facts and truth.”

He said that the necessary “rebuttal” is being issued to the concerned. The remarks came after a media report claimed that the NCB has given clean chit to Deepika, her former manager Karishma Prakash, Sara, Shraddha and others in a drugs related case.

Ther NCB questioned Deepika, Shraddha and Karishma on Saturday in Mumbai for several hours over their alleged chats discussing drugs. The NCB also questioned Sara, who starred with Sushant in “Kedarnath” for over five hours in the case on Saturday.

Deepika is the daughter of badminton icon Prakash Padukone and married to actor Ranveer Singh, while Shraddha is daughter of veteran actor Shakti Kapoor. Sara is daughter of actors Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh.

The NCB also grilled actor Rakul Preet Singh in connection with its probe on Friday for four hours.

However, the officials of the NCB have remained tightlipped on its findings after the questioning of these actors in the case as it is corroborating the statements of all the people questioned in the case so far.

The NCB also arrested Kshitij Ravi Prasad former executive Producer of the Dharma Productions in connection with the case after it was found that he procured drugs for over a dozen times between May to July and paid Rs 3,500 for every 50 gm of the contraband.

The NCB has already arrested Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, the late actor’s house manager Samuel Miranda, personal staff Dipesh Sawant in the case along with 16 other accused.

The NCB registered a case after it received a request from Enforcement Directorate (ED) following the alleged chats discussing drugs came to the fore. The NCB registered two cases and Sara and Shraddha are inter linked in both of the cases.

Besides NCB, the CBI and the ED are also probing the death of Sushant, who was found dead in his Bandra’s Mont Blanc apartment on June 14.

With the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) questioning several top Bollywood divas as part of its investigation into the drug angle in actor Sushant Singh Rajput‘s death, the drug law enforcement agency’s chief Rakesh Asthana arrived in Mumbai on Sunday to take stock of the probe.

According to NCB sources, Asthana, who flew from Delhi to Mumbai earlier in the day, met several officers and was briefed on the two drugs cases the agency had registered last month after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) wrote to it following the alleged chats of several Bollywood celebrities purportedly discussing drugs.

He was also apprised of the latest developments in the case by the NCB’s SIT. The NCB questioned Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and Deepika’s former manager Karishma Prakash on Saturday.

It had questioned Bollywood actor Rakul Preet Singh, Dharma Productions’ former executive producer Kshitij Prasad Ravi, fashion designer Simone Khambatta and Anubhav Chopra on Friday.

After being questioned for several hours, Kshitij was also arrested by the NCB on Saturday.

The agency has already arrested Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Showik, the late actor’s house manager Samuel Miranda, personal staff Dipesh Sawant and several others.

Sushant was found dead in his Bandra flat on June 14.

Besides the NCB, the Central Bureau of Investigation and the ED are also probing his death.

Looking at the number of celebrities who have taken to cycling during the lockdown, it will be apt to say that cycling is back in vogue. A lot of celebrities including Jennifer Lopez, Karishma Tanna, Harshvardhan Rane and Rakul Preet Singh have taken to cycling in the recent past and sharing videos or pictures of them taking a bicycle ride on social media. Experts opine that this trend is going to grow furthers as gyms are still shut and people would avoid going to the gymnasium for sometime even when it gets open.

  “Firstly, it is a great way to exercise during the coronavirus quarantine and secondly you get a chance to step outside your house with proper social distancing measures in place. It also helps reduce green house gas emission and controls local air pollution,” says fitness expert Karan Oberoi.

     “Cycling is also good for our mental health as it release happy hormones or endorphins to the brain. The bike riding culture is already seeing a surge. The number of people who have taken to cycling near my premises have significantly increased in these past two months,” says psychologist Pulkit Sharma.

Says a trade source, “Nikkhil was keen to sign Mrunal as he’s worked with her in Batla House (where she plays John’s wife and a news anchor) and feels that she is very talented. Bell Bottom is said to be a spy thriller revolving around a cop-cum-detective’s stories. He is a cop in the day but likes to be a sleuth when off duty. If everything goes well and Mrunal signs Bell Bottom, she will play Akshay’s romantic interest. Her role is interesting and has shades to it – someone whom Akshay’s character meets in the course of his life as a cop and falls in love with her. It’s a retro movie set in the 1980s, and the thriller revolving around one of India’s forgotten heroes. It will be a mix of all Akshay, Vashu and Nikkhil’s style of filmmaking – action, emotion and entertainment and is said to be inspired from a real-life incident.”

Bollywood Hungama was the first to write about Akshay Kumar being in talks with producer Vashu Bhagnani, to discuss a project with him. The producer, who has given many blockbusters over more than two decades in the Bollywood film industry, is working with Akshay for the first time and buzz is that he has given Akshay a huge remuneration of over Rs. 120 crore to act in the movie.  Bell Bottom is produced by Nikkhil Advani, Vashu Bhagnani, Jackky Bhagnani, and Akshay Kumar. Akshay and Vashu have been in talks for quite some time to do a movie together while Nikkhil was looking for a good script for Akshay, post Airlift. The actor said she is trying to strike a balance between both the film industries. "When I did 'Yaariyan' I was very new. I was not aware about the film industry. I was very young. I had a Telugu film that released two months before 'Yaariyan' and it turned out to be huge hit and I had big film offers there so I decided to do that. It was not a conscious break it is just that I got so busy there then I thought when something great comes up I will do Hindi films. I am now trying to balance," she said. Rakul said creatively both the industries are growing and it is the best time to be working as an actor. "I am not running for money. Money is something that follows. I am in this profession because of my passion for cinema." Rakul said her upcoming film De De Pyaar De provided her an opportunity to work with two National Award-winning actors - Ajay Devgn and Tabu. "I wasn't intimidated rather I was over excited. It was surreal to be working with them. I have grown up watching their films and it was great to be seen in the same frame with them." "The film gave me a scope to perform, it put me out there. Despite having two award-winning actors in the film, I am grateful that people are taking notice of me in the trailer," she added. She is thankful to both the seasoned actors for being warm and welcoming. "Ajay sir never made me feel like I was new and that he is a seasoned actor. Everyone was welcoming. If I was nervous it would show on screen. If I don't talk or interact or get along with my co-stars and if we are doing a scene then chemistry wouldn't know what to do. But we all got along well. There was a positive vibe on the sets." The actor said in a romantic-comedy film it is tough to get the humour element right. "It is a fun film but humour is tougher to do than crying on screen, one can use glycerine, it is tough to get the right comic timing. It may look easy on the eyes."
