Temptatious offers
Snake Eye and Skye meeting scene - Curses of Crows practice scene snippet
Tw - Alcohol, talks of suggestive acts, smoking. NOT PROOFREAD!! Will fix it up later.
Skye was left at a large set of doors. They were carved intricately, vines and flowers seemed to be the scheme of the carvings. Dark in colour, the wood seemed to smooth.. so different then what Skye was used too. Skye stood awkwardly in the empty, dark hallway. The dark purple velvety carpets seemed like the main focus of her eyes. Well, what was she supposed to do? Wait till someone lets her in? Or knock? She had never been to a brothel—well.. none of this fancy. The brothel back at Rainvale was run down, lack of care shoved into the faces of all customers and workers alike. But this? The workers.. all adorn in make up, jewels, and perfumes. They all seemed… contempt. Or, at least, they acted very well. After a few moments of waiting, Skye shakily exhaled, bringing the courage to knock. Her knuckles rattled against the oak, placing three knocks on the doors. The quiet, echoing noise filled the empty hallway. She heard a voice within call out to her, beckoning her in. Was it Snake eye, perhaps? Well, she sure hoped. She pushed one of the doors large handles, slowly opening it. With a quiet tone groan of the hinges, she was met with the view of the most beautiful rooms she’s ever seen. She took a small step in, closing the door gently behind her. Her gaze quickly found the body that sat on a chair, same carvings as the ones on the doors. The.. feminine looking person was holding a long pipe, green in colour. Emerald, perhaps? It is, of course, Salomes signature stone. Colours of greens and materials of emeralds seemed to lace the city and its decor. It tied well with the lush vegetation they so masterfully grew better than the other two kingdoms.
Skye made no attempt to make a move, but she took the moment to take a look at her surroundings. But a quick nudge of the wrist from the man who sat in the chair caught her attention. He motioned her to sit down.
Keen eyes watched as Skye made her way to sit down at the identical looking chair that he sat on, just across from who she assumed to be Snakeye. In front of her, the only barrier between her and Snake eye, was a grand Oak desk. Its dark wood reflected the warm yet vibrant lights that danced around the room, seemingly replicating vines.
The room itself seemed spacious, various nooks and crannies all around the room. Curtains, beads, jewelry, and vines were hung all across the walls, creating an enclosed, comfortable atmosphere. Various candles too were lit, scattered across surface tops and shelves. And, the most grand seeming part of the whole room—was the large, circle shaped bed. Plush pillows and blankets sprawled all across the surface. Skye couldn’t deny that her body ached to sleep on a cushioned surface for once. The forests floor wasn’t quite helping her sleep. But, she must focus. She was here for a reason—and one reason alone. Temptation would.. *hopefully* not work on her tonight.
Snake eye was the first to speak up. He seemed to be eyeing intensely at her. This was how he worked, after all. His masterful eyes were trained to gauge his customers wants, needs, desires and intentions. But—it seemed this customer of his was a hard one to undress with his eyes. “Please, allow me to help you to a drink, my dear.” His voice rang out. By gods was it smooth. It was like a voice she had never heard before. Being in a village full of old or sickly men—it intrigued her. Yet, added onto the nerves. He sure was intimidating. He once again motioned his hand towards a tray that laid on the desk. Emerald, of course. The two crystal-clear glasses seemed in contrast to its atmosphere. Paired with the glasses, a tall bottle of what Skye could only imagine to be some form of alcohol. The glasses reflected off of the Emerald and lights—creating a sparkling effect. Everything seemed to.. mesmerizing. It was such an odd setting to Skye. She felt extremely out of place.
It had been a while since she had a taste of any alcoholic beverages. The most she was granted was what was left over after she tended to her wounds. And she never liked the taste. Nor, did she like the effects of alcohol. Sure, it warmed her up, but that was the most it ever did to satisfy her. But, she also never had enough to truly know its effect. She’d like to keep it that way. But with the expenses of this.. *night*, one glass would do her no harm—would it? It would give her a distraction, anyway.
“Uh—sure.” She mumbled. Her hands began to reach towards the glasses, until, Snake eyes reached faster. In a smooth motion, he grabbed the tall, dark bottle. The contents within sloshed, but none spilled. He grabbed one of the glasses, pouring the honey colour into the glass. He did the same with the other. It seemed so elegant—so perfectly practiced. It would make sense that he probably did this same gesture for many of his prior customers.
He handed a glass to Skye. She blinked, but did not hesitate to carefully grab the class from his grasp. Her fingers grazed his, sending another wave of anxiety through her. She held her glass in her hands. “Thank you.” She quickly added. Eyeing the liquid, she looked at its warm colour. Soon, a strong and intoxicating smell crept into her nose. She looked up, seeing the disappearing smoke from the pipe that Snake eye held close to his dark green lips. His eyes never seemed to leave her frame as he did so. With a cleared throat, Skye finally spoke up.
“My.. uh—Intentions may be fairly different from the usual costumers you get.” She fidgeted with the glass. Her eyes not so certain as to where to look. But, generally remained on Snake eye.
Surprisingly to Skye, he chuckled. It was low in tone, but seemingly soft. He closed his eyes, showcasing the glittery green eyeshadow he wore. Now, getting a good look of him—his face seemed to be adorn in glitters. His eyeshadow—his lipstick. Even his soft rosy blush.
“Darling, nothing is of difference to me. I’ve been introduced to a fair share of desires, a spectrum of customers.” He smiled, now opening his eyes again to look at her. He slightly leaned back into his chair, still holding the pipe. “So, do not be afraid to embrace the desires you wish to fulfill tonight.”
Ah.. right. This was a brothel after all, and the assumption is to dive into.. unfamiliar acts to Skye. She was mostly intimidated by the fact the man before her was expecting a display of sexual acts—But that was far from her intention. Yet, as she held the drink in her hand—she clearly was starting to fall into the trap of temptation. With a quick breath, she placed the untouched drink onto the desk.
“I do not wish to preform any.. uh—desires tonight. At least, none of the usual kind you get.” Skye mumbled, her voice a slight rasp. She looked to Snake eye, now her turn to gauge his reaction in return. He simply stared at her, no change of emotion behind his piercing eyes. He took his glass, taking a sip of its liquid.
Okay.. not what she was expecting. She thought this was just his way of saying ‘go on’. She tapped at the desk slightly. “I only wish to ask you a few questions. That’s it.” Her voice seemed a bit more soft.
Now this was interesting to Snake eye. This lady was right—it was something that was different to him. None would spend as much as they would to simply ‘ask him questions’. She was clearly up to something. Or—this was some different kind of role play. He’d hope for the ladder.
“Questions, hm?” He hummed, placing the glass down onto the desk. Pushing the chair he sat on out, he stood. His curled hair swayed with him, the faint rattle of jewelry and beads echoed as he walked, his outfit adorned with such accessories. Skye tensed, seeing as he turned to walk around the desk table, towards her.
She sat still, slightly thrown off by the action’s of Snake eye. What made her heart thrum was when he stopped his advances, right behind her.
“And what questions might they be? I’m rather curious by such a.. desire.” He whispered, his hands now finding a spot to rest on the chair she sat on. Skye swallowed, her dry throat aching to have a sip of the glass before her as she stared at it.
“I-I’ve heard you have ties with someone that might be important for me to find.” Her fingers crept towards the glass. She soon added, “If you would be willing, I only need to ask fairly simple questions.” And with that, she turned her head to get a glimpse of the man that stood behind her.
He stared down at her, eyes glowing in the light. Green.. how fitting. She held his gaze for a moment, before looking off into the distance, towards the large bed and what decorated the area. Oh boy.. she could only imagine what each object that laid atop a large bed-side table was used for. She didn’t want to know.
She slightly flinched at the voice of Snake eye, eyes looking to his. “Hm. My dear, it depends. It is prohibited for me to relay personal backstory of myself. As is the same for any of the workers here.” He said as he pushed away from the chair, turning to slowly walk towards the large bed. Skye looked away, not wanting to now be hypnotized by the sway of his hips. Sheesh. She needed to get ahold of herself.
Snake eye turned back to face Skye, sitting on the end of the bed. It was only a few feet from eachother—but the distance made Skye release a breath that had been kept hidden within her throat.
“Go on, and we will see what I can answer.” He slightly leaned back, legs lazily falling away slightly as his feet laid on the velvet-carpeted floor. Skye hesitated, now debating her first question. She sat up from her chair, walking around it, now leaning against the spine of it as she faced Snake eye.
“First, I just wanted to ask.. are you familiar with the Legends of The Wardens?” Skye asked, now finding slight confidence in her voice. Her confidence was soon knocked a peg as Snake eye slightly quirked a brow.
“Don’t tell me you will be spending the night, pestering me with mere conspiracies.” She laughed at the end. A quick, quiet laugh. “If so, I would much rather spend the night with the low levelled folks.” He quipped at the end. A bit more.. expressive with his words. Seemed to be something he may have experienced before. Skye slightly shook her head.
“No, no. I’m only asking if you know of the tale.” But she knew he was well familiar with it. Well.. if she was taking Anikas advice to true honesty. “Voices say you do, Snake eye.” Skye
Hadn’t meant to mumble it with rudeness, but she did. She quickly fixed her voice. “B-but, correct me if I’m wrong.”
Snake eyes gaze never faltered, eyeing Skye. No wonder he was given the name he has. Snakes weren’t too native to the hills of Rainvale, but she had come across a fair share of them out in her early mornings. The way they eye their enemy—or, they’re prey. Sharp, calculating eyes. Yet, they moved with such elegance. This man may very well be an embodiment of a snake. She really couldn’t be too sure.. everything seemed to be possible now.
After a few agonizing moments, he replied, “Yes, I do know of this tale. The “seven great virtues”, creations of the Devine Sisters.” He eased into the conversation slightly, smiling. “Such a fascinating story, no? You don’t hear of it very often in these parts.” The last part was said with a hint of question.
Skye nodded along. Pleased to know that he was aware of such tale. She quickly dismissed the last part of his words. “Then, I’m assuming you know the Warden of War?” Snake eyes posture seemed to tense—if only for a second. He then leaned slightly more back again. He hummed, “yes. What of it?” Skye debated her next question, not sure if she should dive in straight away with her question, or butter him up more first. There may be no use if he grew bored of her questions. The growing anxiety within Skye was unrelenting as piercing cold eyes stared at her, each moment growing more suspicious.
“Forgive me if I’m wrong—but I’ve heard you may know the resting place of the Warden of War’s grave.” She ripped off the bandaid. She feared she was.. too blunt. Time wasn’t on her side, unfortunately. She feared Snake eyes reaction would be infuriated—irritated or put off. But , it was quite the opposite. His head fell back, displaying his bobbing Adam’s apple as he laughed.
“Ah, Such a bold assumption. And what makes you believe I know anything of this.. wardens gravestone?” He slowly raised his head back, a small smile on his face. Skye once again felt uncertain of her next words. She obviously wouldn’t out Anika for informing her of these rumours—of Snake eye and his mysterious connections. Anika was, after all, a wanted princess. She fidgeted with her fingers, until she puffed out her chest slightly, trying to feign some sort of confidence.
“Well.. it’s not everyday you hear the name ‘Snake eye’. Snakes are known as a bad omen within the kingdoms, aren’t they? Many try to deter anything relating to the serpent.” Skye rambled on, mostly pulling this out of thin air. But it was true—animals such as a snake were perceived as an evil force to the kingdoms. Same as a crow. She read it in an old book she found years ago.
Skye didnt want that part to linger in the air too long, so she continued. “Rumours have it you were spotted to have collected books of the ancient books. Might I point out—they are illegal to own such tales, aren’t they? The kingdoms sure frown upon anything magic related.” Skye added, trying to keep her tone as less aggressive, and more curious.
“Some even say you have a mark—a sigil, relating to the Warden. But, you cover that up, don’t you?” This made Snake eye perk up. Eyes slightly widening. His hand went to graze his neck, but hesitated. His hand fell back down, gaze hardening. The makeup surly hasn’t faded from the time he covered his tattoo earlier that day.
“Rumours are simply rumours. None of such can be confirmed. Not by you. You’re accusing faults that can very much take my head to the burning stake.” He fixed his posture, sitting up straight. His gaze didnt falter as he stared back at Skye.
“I’m not accusing you of any faults. Simply just asking you if you know of the gravestone. If anyone knows of the wardens, then they should know of the prophecies behind them.”
This left Snake eye quiet, debating within his own mind. Sure, if he would spill such information, whats in it for him? What was Skye’s goal? He knows of prophecies—of a legend who would restore the wardens and rebirth the sun and moon. But there were many prophecies. Ones leading to different fates. Like a hero, who would soon turn corrupt and destroy the world. Of a wasteland—ruled by a corrupted ruler. If anyone wanted to find the graves of the wardens, they had to have a specific reason. All of their soul stones have been stolen—so there was nothing to gain from this expedition. This made Snake eye raise a brow.
“And what would you do with this information? There is nothing to gain from finding these graves. Only empty souled statues. Lifeless, if anything.”
“There is nothing to gain for knowing my reasons. I just need to know the resting place of this Warden. And in turn, I can give you something.” Skye eyed the man who was clearly showing a display of himself before her. She hoped she had hooked him in now. He looked at her, eyes squinting. He raised his head, humming in question. “Go on. Though, I do not see anything of value to me in this situation.”
Skye took a moment to think over her words. She hoped Snake eye still cared for his past allies. If not—this bribe would be futile. With a breath, she stood straight. “While it’s forbidden for me to make you speak on your past, I’m sure this could be of exception.” Snake eye sat still, waiting for her next words. “Your sister… I believe her name was Belle. We came across her whereabouts. I know where she is being held captive.”
Tension grew thick, Snake eye seemed frozen. Unblinking. Skye waited for him to say the next words. Until, in a slow motion, He now stood, tall and straight-postured. More rattles of the accessories he wore rung out in a tune as he made slow steps to Skye. Intimidated, Skye took a small step back, meeting the back of the chair. He was around the same height as her, although she may have been an inch taller. It didn’t hide the fact he was intimidating. She watched as he grew closer, until he stood only a foot apart from her.
His eyes roamed around her face, getting a good look at Skye. He had took notice of her scar. Her crazed hair, the dirt on her clothes. She was not from this kingdom. She was up to something, and he could sense something.. strong. He exhaled, smelling the faint smell of campfire and must radiating off of her. She was a nomad, a traveller. Something that intrigued him—far different from any costumer he had ever gotten.
“You aren’t lying, are you?” He asked, suspicion bubbling deep within him. But within his smooth tone, held hope. His sister and him were separated when their family was taken captive all those years ago. Long before he found himself a high ranked Salome Citizen. Skye looked back into his eyes, now getting a good and clear look of his eyes. They held a dangerous look, hints of greens and blues. His pupils seemed far more smaller then a regular humans. Such an interesting character, he was. She knew she had to draw his face after this ordeal. sensing his hidden emotions. She nodded, replying with a soft mumble, “I wouldn’t lie of such thing.”
With a few moments pause, tension thick on a line—Snake eye grabbed ahold of Skyes hand, leading her to a hidden room within the grand space.
“Allow me to help you get comfortable. Then, perhaps, we can discuss a deal.”

Faeverse OC: Kamen Rider Scribe
I was talking metafictional story ideas with @grampa-lion a little while ago, and he proposed some ideas for Kamen Rider alter egos for himself and me to fit into his Faeverse and Kamen Rider Mystic story. I really liked the idea he came up with for my identity, so I wanted to flesh it out and share it with you all! Enjoy!
Background
I entered the Faeverse and became retroactively Fae-blooded through one of two avenues: dropping in a la Kamen Rider Decade and changing to accommodate the world, or being pulled into the world through a Fae ritual to summon a champion and infuse them with Fae’s magic to create an artificially Fae-blooded being. Either way, I encountered a roc Fae named Agrippa shortly after my arrival, and established a Fae-Bond with her to protect us both from the Deharmonized, becoming the newest Mage in Rainvale – Kamen Rider Scribe.
Blessed with the Talent of knowledge inherent to the roc species, I acclimated quickly to my magic and fought off the Deharmonized before contacting Nicky and Gaius. After explaining my situation and showing them my new abilities, I offered to aid them in purifying the corrupted Fae and preventing Ajura and Angelo from finding the Ultima Potentiae, and things went from there.
Visuals
Kamen Rider Scribe, unlike Mystic, has access to only one form: Roc-Talent, accessed through inserting the Roc Charm Coin of Agrippa into the Mythic Driver. Its armor is predominantly dark gray with amber highlights to match Agrippa’s feathers, with golden boots and yellow eyes, and a beak on its mask. It has a silver mantle, not unlike that of Kamen Rider Beast, attached to its left shoulder.
Scribe’s wand is similar in design to Mystic’s, with an amber gem inset into the end. The Laimargia (see under Powers) has a silver cover with a bas-relief of a bird skull on the front, with topazes for eyes; this cover design plays a role in some of Scribe’s spells. Scribe typically holds the wand in his right hand (his dominant hand), while keeping the grimoire in his left.
Powers
Kamen Rider Scribe wields a magical grimoire known as the Laimargia, which acts as his Rider weapon. The Laimargia is the focus of Scribe’s magical ability, and the vast majority of his spells involve it in some way. The jacket of the book is indestructible (allowing for use as a barrier), but the pages inside are regular paper and can be damaged or torn out (they will regenerate within a short time). There is a finite number of pages in the grimoire, and the contents of the pages will remain until Scribe dismisses them or the pages are removed or badly damaged. Lastly, the grimoire can be thrown, and will follow a determined flight path and then return to Scribe’s hands.
Scribe’s fighting style mainly involves using his grimoire to replicate objects in his environment and enemy attacks, turning the enemy’s abilities against them. However, he lacks much magical firepower without the Laimargia, and must rely solely on his physical prowess and fighting ability if he is deprived of the grimoire.
Spell List (under construction):
Kesem Haketz: Conjures the Mythic Driver around Scribe’s waist, identical to Mystic’s version of the spell.
Qiuro Grimas: Conjures the Laimargia in Scribe’s hand, if he does not already have it in hand. Can return the grimoire to Scribe if he has lost it.
Parolda: Allows Scribe to write a Word physically upon an inanimate object using his wand, bestowing the Word upon the object and modifying the object according to the Word bestowed. These Words are predominantly adjectives, and alter the properties of the object according to Scribe’s intentions when bestowing the Word (he decides its exact meaning in context). For example, bestowing the Word “red” will turn an object red, and the Word “seeking” can turn a thrown object into a homing projectile, make an object lead Scribe toward a related thing, and so on. These Words remain until dismissed, either by Scribe’s will or other sufficiently powerful magic.
Vea Klevran: The eyes of the bird skull on the Laimargia’s cover flash, recording any inanimate object(s) within its sight at that moment and displaying them within its pages. The objects in the grimoire’s pages can be altered through Parolda.
Exsar Ta Usymas: The mouth of the bird skull on the Laimargia’s cover opens; upon making contact with an object or living creature while in this state, the grimoire will pass through the object or person, which will then fade and be sucked physically into the grimoire, and be displayed within its pages (living creatures of sufficient power can break out of the grimoire while inside it). Objects can be altered through Parolda, while living creatures have relevant information displayed underneath their image. Things stored in the Laimargia do not affect its weight, and any number of things can be stored in the Laimargia at once, but each use of this spell can only capture one thing.
Gemella: Creates a non-permanent magical copy of an object recorded or stored in the Laimargia’s pages, modified by the Words bestowed upon it. These objects fade over time, disappearing in about ten minutes.
Vea Connalua: The eyes of the bird skull on the Laimargia’s cover flash, displaying any text within its sight upon its pages. Text within the grimoire can be displayed in any language Scribe chooses.
Vea Visal: The eyes of the bird skull on the Laimargia’s cover glow, recording events within its sight like a video camera. These recordings can be replayed upon the pages of the grimoire at any time.
Vea Adapat: The eyes of the bird skull on the Laimargia’s cover glow, recording the thoughts of anyone in its sight and displaying them on its pages in real time.

WeatherSensor and MusicBox
After getting the bluetooth working, I started putting all the pieces together. I have two arduino circuits, one named ‘WeatherSensor’ and one named ‘MusicBox’. The WeatherSensor is made up of one raindrop sensor, two LDR’s and a HC-05 Module transmitting the data. The MusicBox is, at the moment, one Piezo speaker and a HC-05 Module.
int rain = analogRead(A0); int light1 = analogRead(A1); int light2 = analogRead(A2); int light = (light1 + light2) / 2; Serial1.write(rain); Serial1.write(light); delay(1000); Serial.flush();
I started this development by sending a String containing direct readings from the rain sensor and an average reading of the LDR’s to my phone, just to check the data was sending.
Then I set up the MusicBox to receive this message. The next step was parsing the message into separate readings again. Due to sending String instead of raw int or byte values, this was more complicated than I expected. My prime language is Javascript, so I’m very used to being able to easily manipulate String values. This is not as easy in C, and I had to struggle with splitting and clearing the String message. I did eventually figure out a system, but once I fully understood the Serial Buffer and how it works, I was able to switch to just sending and receiving two integer values which was a lot easier.
if (Serial1.available()) { int val = Serial1.read(); if (alt) { Serial.println(val); rainVal = map(val, 0, 1050, 0, 100); Serial.println(rainVal); alt = false; } else { lightVal = map(val, 0, 30, 0, 100); alt = true; } }
Next I wrote a series of if/else conditions to determine what kind of weather it was depending on the Light and Rain values. Each statement passes different values into the playMelody()’ function, the index of the required melody and the tempo it is to be played at.
//------DECIDE CONDITION //LIGHT LOW + NO RAIN if (lightVal < 50 && rainVal < 30) { Serial.println("CLOUDY"); playMelody(1, 140); // zelda theme } //LIGHT LOW + SOME RAIN else if (lightVal < 50 && rainVal < 60) { Serial.println("DRIZZLE"); playMelody(0, 88); // zeldas lullaby } //LIGHT LOW + LOTS OF RAIN else if (lightVal < 50 && rainVal >= 60) { Serial.println("HEAVY RAIN"); playMelody(4, 85); // jigglypuff song } //LIGHT HIGH + NO RAIN else if (lightVal > 50 && rainVal < 30) { Serial.println("SUNNY"); playMelody(3, 140); // take on me } //LIGHT HIGH + SOME RAIN else if (lightVal > 50 && rainVal < 60) { Serial.println("SUMMER SHOWER"); playMelody(2, 140); // mii channel theme } else { Serial.println("ERROR"); } //light high + lots of rain not included as it is very unlikely to occur
I created a separate header file to contain the arrays of melodies, simply for organisations sake, and created a global constant ‘jagged’ (multidimensional) array called ‘melodies’ to store them. I also created a separate array containing the sizes of these melodies, as the sizeof() function didn’t seem to work on the instances of the ‘melodies’ array. Each of the melodies are from this GitHub https://github.com/robsoncouto/arduino-songs
extern const int* melodies[] = {zelda1, zelda2, miiChannel, takeOnMe, jigglypuff}; extern const int sizes[] = {sizeof(zelda1), sizeof(zelda2), sizeof(miiChannel), sizeof(takeOnMe), sizeof(jigglypuff)};
The playMelody() function is a reworked version of the loop that comes with the melodies from that GitHub, altered a bit to function with the ‘melodies’ array. As it uses the delay, I had a problem with the Serial buffer becoming backlogged with unprocessed values. I added a serial.flush() function to the WeatherSensor code to clear the outgoing buffer each loop and keep only the most current data in it.
void playMelody( int index, int tempo) { int notes = sizes[index] / sizeof(melodies[index][0]) / 2; // this calculates the duration of a whole note in ms (60s/tempo)*4 beats int wholenote = (60000 * 4) / tempo; int divider = 0, noteDuration = 0; for (int thisNote = 0; thisNote < notes * 2; thisNote = thisNote + 2) { // calculates the duration of each note divider = melodies[index][thisNote + 1]; if (divider > 0) { // regular note, just proceed noteDuration = (wholenote) / divider; } else if (divider < 0) { // dotted notes are represented with negative durations!! noteDuration = (wholenote) / abs(divider); noteDuration *= 1.5; // increases the duration in half for dotted notes } Serial.println(melodies[index][thisNote]); // we only play the note for 90% of the duration, leaving 10% as a pause tone(buzzer, melodies[index][thisNote], noteDuration * 0.9); // Wait for the specief duration before playing the next note. delay(noteDuration); // stop the waveform generation before the next note. noTone(buzzer); } Serial.println("end"); }
The next step is to get the project working remotely. I have some batteries, a couple of snap connecters and some barrel connectors arriving soon that I will use.

Evaluation
I am really happy with how this turned out. It was definitely a fairly complex and long process, but it all works and I’m proud of how far I’ve come. There are just a couple more pieces to add and I will do a full evaluation of circuit, code and general project outcomes then.

[News] Down Payment
So, when I originally started playing New Leaf, I had plans to never skip ahead in time. However, as I have had to destroy an old town from the game’s original release date, and then a town created after that, and finally a corrupted town that I had fallen in love with... Well, I threw my rules out the door. I’m skipping forward through time until I have caught back up to my original town, and then I will return to the real date and time. That being said, there is some news: I have paid the down payment for my house. Hurrah! Also, Phoebe has moved into Rainvale! However, Phoebe was not at her home whenever I went to welcome her to Rainvale, so I guess I’ll try again. I kind of adore her. Hopefully, I will be able to move quickly enough through the game that everything will work out. Anyways, cheers: Mayor Mika’eli

Sounds of Rain
Curses of Crows test Chapter One.
As I work through my story and figuring it out, I’m trying to work on a test run of what I plan on doing for my chapters! So this will NOT be the finalized chapter. I’m sure this will go through many re-writes.. but this is my first “official” run of the book. It’s a little old, so it’s definitely going to be worked on some more as I go back to finish chapter two.
Tw - Animal death.. I think that’s it.
Thundering skies swept over Rainvale like a shadow, a common occurrence all the residents were familiar with. Dusk enveloped the grass fields as the rain grew rapidly, the plangent rumbles from the shadowed sky intensified with every booming light. The townspeople hurried into their houses, collecting their dirtied children from playing in the muddy puddles. The farmers hurried their steps, whistling their dogs to herd the cattle that scattered from the noise of thunder.
Skye looked up at the sky, her eyes squinting from the rain that poured down. Her hair grew clammy, sticking to her face. This was no surprise to Rainvale. It seemed to rain more than it did shine. The clouds never seemed to leave the sky above. The hill she stood on overlooked the outskirts of Rainvale. A dreary village that inhabited even drearier people. With a step into the mud, Skye began to descend down the grassy hill, towards the stable she’d worked at for years now. Her boots were dirtied with fresh mud, clothes now dampen. With each step brought a squelch in the mud the more she got closer to the stables.
The stables were built by her uncle Arthur about a decade ago. The wood has long since decayed by the elements overtime. The never-ending rain eating away at it. But they held strong, just like her uncle. They had kept the cattle warm enough to live through harsh winters when the cold months came. A time many farmers feared for their livestock.
Making her way past an old wooden fence built around the stable, she walked towards an open entrance into the wooden structure. Within, the rain had created a rhythmic sound against the metal roof. A bucket in the far corner collecting the drops that did find its way through.
Skye pulled her hair away from her face, the black tendrils stuck to her cheeks and hands. Tucking the strands behind her ears, she walked to one of the eight stalls, inside was their cow. She didn’t have a name, not that Arthur has mentioned, but Skye would commonly call her “Nana”. Something simple and easy to remember. She can’t recall why she named the cow that. Maybe she heard a town boy call his grandmother that name one time when the old lady held him by the ear and dragged him into the house. The cow was a lot like a grumpy old lady. She acted like it, anyway.
Beside Nana was a bull calf, about six months old. He wasn’t called anything. Skye knew he would grow and be sold off to a butcher for a hefty sum of copper coins. She didn’t have the guts to call him anything other than “Boy.” But until then, she’d treat him nicely and make sure he was healthy. Like what her uncle kept reminding her, “We need the lad nice and fed.”
Skye had no real problem saying goodbye to the cattle. She has said her farewells to many of the animals over the years. Plenty of cows. But Nana stayed the longest. Her time would be coming to an end sooner than later, though. Skye didn’t have the time to dwell on it.
With a slight pat to Nana's white head, Skye leaned away from the wooden walls of the stall and walked down the hall of the Stables. Each side has four stalls. The wooden gates closed, besides one of them opened ajar. Some didn’t hold Cattle at all. Once, they did. It felt like a very long time ago, though.
Two other stalls held what sheep they had left. Three in each. They all huddled together, laying on the hay covered floor. The others held nothing else. They had two pigs not too long ago, but they had passed suddenly. Arthur still can’t find out why—but decided it was some sort of sickness that got them.
Skye made her way up to a wooden stool. Placed atop that was a match box. She picked it up, sliding it open to retrieve one of the small sticks. With the flick of her wrist, she ignited the match stick. Placing the small box back down on the stool, Skye grabbed a lantern that hung up on a hook on the wooden wall and lit up the small candlestick within it. The stable lit up with a faint light that the lantern provided. A warm hue of orange to the darkened night.
Walking up to the opened stall, Skye looked inside to see Vigilance sleeping—laying in the wilted hay. His head bobbed up quickly as he heard her approach. His long tail wagged, picking up the hay and scattering it.
Vigilance was Arthur’s dog. A skilled farmer's dog. He herded the sheep for the most part, occasionally helping to scare away the mice and rats that found their way into the stables and across the fields. He was a loving dog, extremely loyal at heart. But Arthur won’t let him in the house, and says he won’t be a hard worker if they give him too much love. It never really made sense to Skye. Whenever she snuck him into the house when she was younger, she’d get an earful on It. Skye soon knew it was an attachment thing most likely. Not many animals lived long out here, Vigilance was no different. But Arthur’s wife, Mary, always liked to complain about the mess Vigilance would make. Most of it being his muddied paw prints scattered along the wooden floors. Something that always made Skye crack up too. She knew Arthur always listened to his wife, so out the dog went. The stables is where he slept most his life. Vigilance didn’t seem to mind it, though. Skye would always put leftover hay inside his stall for him. She even snuck an old blanket inside for him, too. Though that thing has long since become threadbare and ripped.
She opened the stalls gate fully, creating a dull creak in its rusted hinges. She walked in, her boots sinking into the hay. She crouched down, bringing both her hands up to Vigilance’s face as she scratched at his fur. His eyes squinted, welcoming her scratches. She moved away, sitting in the corner of the stall. Vigilance propped up and sat beside her, his ears flopped and tail still wagging, though not as aggressive as before.
Beside where she sat, left among the hay, was a leather satchel. It was hers. Something her mother made for her fifteenth birthday three years ago. She treasured it, as she did any items she received from her mother. She flipped over the flap of leather, inside she fetched a small journal and along with a graphite stick.
Vigilance layed close to her feet as she began to write. Skye commonly spent her long nights in the one stall with Vigilance. She would write about her day, mostly. She didn’t have anything else to really write about. Sometimes it could be about the town, Rainvale. The people in it, the people she met, maybe about animals she saw. She would draw them, too. It was a way for Skye to keep track as the days went by. She would never waste a single page. She spent most of her pay for these small journals and graphite sticks. It was worth it to her. Though Mary liked to nip-pick at her about where her money went and “What a waste it is to spend money on this girl.” Skye couldn’t care less about what Mary said. She doesn’t know what made Mary dislike her so much. Skye was anything but rude to the woman. She found her conclusion of never knowing why. It was hard trying to get through that thick skull of Mary, anyway. Too much hair.
Skye would eventually find herself up the ladder of the small loft on the other side of the stables. It was hay storage, but made a good sleeping place. There was a bed up there. A thin cloth held wool and hay. Atop that was her wolf spelt. A gift Arthur gave her a while back. It gave her all the warmth she needed. She would spend the months of spring, summer and autumn up in the loft. Though, the autumn months got cold. But she has toughened them out for years now. But when nights got too cold, she had a place in Arthur’s house. For the winter month, there was a small room in the basement of the house. It was cold and damp, but doable for the winter. It was storage for Arthur and Mary, but had enough space for Skye to sleep in. The mice weren’t so favourable.
As Skye wrote, the noise of the graphite stick against the coarse paper comforted her. So did the rain. The way it thudded against the roof and walls, shying away all other noise besides the occasional huff of the cows or the bleat of a sheep. She soon dozed off, leaving her drawing of the scene before her unfinished and layed astray in the hay.

Remote Power
Once the batteries, snap connectors and barrel connectors arrived, I worked on making the circuits remote and functional. Before I got around to that though, I realised there was still some issues with the serial buffer on the MusicBox. I changed the data back to String format so it could be sent as one package rather than two, and added the custom serialFlush() function to clear the buffer after the data has been parsed.
Parsing String
char * token = strtok(message, " "); while ( token != NULL ) { int val2; sscanf(token, "%d", &val2); switch (val) { case 0: rainVal = map(val2, 0, 1050, 100, 0); break; case 2: lightVal = map(val2, 0, 50, 0, 100); break; default: break; } token = strtok(NULL, " "); val ++; }
Clear String
memset(message, 0, sizeof(message));
SerialFlush
void serialFlush() { while (Serial1.available() > 0) { char t = Serial1.read(); } }
After sorting that, I attached snap connectors to two batteries and attached the wire ends to barrel connectors. I taped this all up with packing tape to keep it together. I’m using a tupperware box to put the WeatherSensor in, to keep the circuit safe and dry outside. I cut a small hole for the rain sensor, so it can still detect raindrops, but used enough tape around it to keep the rest of the circuit safe. Surprisingly, the clear-ish lid doesn’t seem to affect the LDR’s too much, but I put the map scale down to 0-50 rather than 0-100 just to be safe. I am now also scaling the values before sending them, just for organisation sake.

For the MusicBox, I found an old wooden box to put the speaker in so it functions more like a music box. I used another clear lid of a tupperware box to cover the circuit and protect it, and bought some foam to pad the sides where the lid didn’t reach. I also added an LDR to detect if the lid is open or closed, so the music won’t start if it's closed.

Evaluation
I will do one final post outlining and evaluating the whole project, but other than that I think this is the end of my project for the moment. I’ve achieved what I wanted, two fully separate functioning circuits that can communicate with each other. As I have absolutely zero experience with circuitry, Arduino or the language C, I think this is a pretty good achievement, and it has definitely been fun to experiment and learn.

-i liked the characters in rainvale more
-the cutscenes used armor stands instead of text in panoris so that was cool.
-panoris has jumpscares... Not a fan personally
-panoris has tutuorial
-panoris has non Minecraft music (at first at least)
