yeah! so first of, all of them are connected in a way, mostly because two of them can be used as umbrella terms.

alterhuman is a huge umbrella term that covers many different identities and other parts of life such as plurality, furries, nonhumans, and more. (this can be used as a stand alone term as well, it’s just not very common)

otherkin is both an umbrella term and sometimes a stand alone term (often used as both) that can mean a few different things. as an umbrella term, it can be used to describe therians, fictionkind, placekin, objectkin, plantkin, holothere, and other identities that are either nonhuman or situations like human fictionkin. it can also be used as a term for identities that are not earthen nonhuman animals, though earthen nonhumans can still use the label.

therian is a bit of a small umbrella term that is equally used as a stand alone term. this is typically used for earthen nonhuman animals, but can also be used by dragons and others that fit under otherkin.

all in all though, you can use any of the labels, it just depends on preference. you can even use some other labels, or no label if wanted! just do keep in mind that anyone who falls under these catergories can absolutely be spiritually that thing, psychologically that thing, or physically that thing! if you have any other questions i’d like to recommend that you check out @/a-dragons-journal because rani has a lot of really good resources

would anyone who has the time be willing to help explain the differences between otherkin vs therian vs alterhuman? Looking it up there's a ton of different answers and I'm not sure Which Is Correct

since we’ve introduced our water deer fella, we’ve gotten permission to talk about him a bit more. he’s a bit confusing to us in terms of what he is. like, only we can see and hear him, but it’s always outside the body. sometimes he can have physical contact with real things, but sometimes he phases through them. this isn’t really something we’re concerned about, just wanted to share because we find it interesting

so today we went exploring for a bit and it was a lot of fun! even tried quads (even though we suspect having like a mild dyspraxia and fibromyalgia or soemthing similar) for a bit too! there was even some wild berries that we checked were edible and ate a couple! (not very many of them, just two and we washed them first) overall a great experience! /vpos
