Can I ask for a oneshot of Doc with a reader who's been infected by the Chimera virus?
But here's the thing, the reader still has a little bit of counciouness in them so they're not fully a monster , so REACT keep them in a containment room to study them (basically using them as a lab rat)? Make it angsty please!
hi anon! of course you can, i’m so happy to have some angst in my inbox…it’s been a bit and i’m still very rusty, so hopefully you forgive me! i’m more used to writing fluff and smut, but thank you so much!

Doc x GN!Reader: Woes of the Infected
Trigger Warnings: DEAD DOVE; DO NOT EAT, angst with a bad ending, graphic depictions of: experimentation, body horror, violence, gore; restraint, morally questionable behavior (in the name of humanity), false sense of security
Tumblr media
Everything happened so quickly all those years ago when the Chimera outbreak first occurred; an old Soviet spacecraft crashed back down in the earth’s atmosphere, specifically in Truth and Consequences, New Mexico. All of you luckily managed to have survived the first wave it seems, however none of you seem to be lucky now, years later. The year was now 2022, and the Chimera came back way worse than before. They were still able to infect and take over humans despite having newer, more evolved forms, and their method of symbiosis with their earthly hosts was still pretty much the same.
Around the time the parasite had come back, you had been all alone in your apartment. Seeing as how you were off-duty, you were almost certain nothing bad would happen. And then suddenly, a giant, oozing yet sharp pike crashed through your floor and ceiling. You jolt back, falling off your couch as the strange pike continues to force itself through your apartment complex. To your left, you can hear another one coming through and you move out of the way the moment it smashes through. A small, black ooze rides up it and all you could do is stare at it, scrambling away.
Panting heavily, your eyes go wide once you see the black ooze begin to turn into a tall, slim, and alien-like creature. “I thought we destroyed you…” you say softly, standing to your feet slowly. The new form of Chimera then suddenly shifts its gaze to you and howls loudly. More rumbling happens in the complex and it makes you nearly fall over. “Shit-shit-shit-shit-shit!” You exclaim repeatedly, trying to run out of your apartment. The moment you’re out the door, the unidentifiable new creature launches projectiles at you, one of them lodging into your calf and the other grazing your face.
With a loud yell of pain, you fall to the floor and nearly onto another pike. Reaching for your service pistol, you’re quickly stopped as another projectile lodged into your arm. Another scream of pain rips through you as you struggle to crawl away now. You couldn’t die just yet, not to the Chimera that stood before you as it traveled through whatever it was on the ground. It didn’t look like a Roach, so you put two and two together and figured the parasite had evolved all these years. Quickly, you press a button while continuing to drag yourself using your now injured arm and uninjured leg to do so. It stings like hell, but it’s all you’ve got.
You’ve sent out a distress signal to the rest of Team Rainbow, hoping that it will actually be received. The first to see it is Gustave, and after seeing the breaking news footage from within the Hereford base, he knows you’re shit out of luck. Gustave’s warm eyes exchange a look between Olivier and Lera, looking at the distraught and disheartened looks in their expressions. The duo had bonded with you the most during your career with Team Rainbow due to you being within the CBRN Threat Unit. “I’m so sorry, you two…” He apologizes, feeling hopeless about this whole thing.
And if anything, Gustave feels even worse knowing he has no way of helping you just yet. You were someone just as passionate about him when it came to saving the lives of the innocent. He’d worked with you for so long, and was there when the initial outbreak occurred. Gustave’s heart was just as broken in this moment but one day, some way, you’d be back with him and the rest of the team. Within hours up to a few days, Team Rainbow has swiftly become REACT, led by Eliza and Elena respectively. In this time, far worse things were happening to you. You’d lost far too much blood to remain conscious, but eventually came to a few minutes later.
Vision blurry, you saw that you were in the lobby of the complex you lived in. Everything was covered in black ooze, and there was what appeared to be a nest in the far right corner across from you. Dozens of voices in a language you didn’t understand whispered and clicked in your ear, soft screeching and the squelch of something also coming into earshot. You’d tried to move, but something firmly gripped you and held you back. Tilting your head up slightly, you saw what appeared to be yellow, almost human in appearance, arms and hands gripping you tightly and keeping you in place. “Oh yeah, the parasite’s definitely evolved…but how? Did it…breed underground?”
You think to yourself, only to stop your thoughts to wince loudly as a piercing pain engulfs your injured arm and leg. Whatever it was that was holding you in, seemed to be healing you. But not for the reasons you would think if you hadn’t dealt with the Chimera Parasite before, no. This was…so much different and so much worse than before. With the added voices and clicking in your head, you weren’t being healed for the sole purpose of living—you were being healed to assimilate and become one with the damned thing. The more and more you’d resist, the more the strange arms would grip you tighter, pulling you into the spongey, soft walls of the new Chimera. Steady breathing eventually became ragged and enraged, as your mind began to resist the screeching voices within.
“No…I…won’t become you…! Let…let go of me!” You resist, only to be pulled in further. It’s harder to breathe now as you’re forced into the alien mass, eyesight eventually becoming thermal. It was already too late—in fusing itself with you via your opened wounds, the parasite was managing to get you to assimilate much faster. Your mind relented however, and as you reach out one last bit, you watch several more arms come to restrain you. The same black ooze you’d hated for years finally had its hold on you, and you would never be the same again. Their hands wrap around your face, and one of them even links its fingers to yours. It’s almost…comforting, but you don’t fall for it at all. You were in a living nightmare, and soon enough, about to become the very thing.
Eventually, you’re completely enveloped…but not taken over.
Once your “assimilation” is finished, you’re then taken out of the giant black mass. The voices have stopped, but when you try to speak, a low growl quakes in your chest. Everything looks so…different for some reason, and you realize you could manipulate thermal and “normal” vision; everything was much less saturated. In an attempt to look down at your new body, a whine comes out instead. Your hands are not human anymore. Trembling, weak knees buckle and cause you to fall over. You have no mouth, and yet you still scream loudly in your own throat. It seems your assimilation truly wasn’t complete as you had thought.
While down on the floor, what should be tears begin to fall from your eyes as you tremble. This shouldn’t be happening at all; you’d fought so hard and nearly lost your life entirely. What the fuck was going to happen now? You couldn’t just waltz back in and engage with your previous comrades like nothing happened to you. Thousands of thoughts flood your mind, overwhelming each and every sense that you possess. After a few moments, you just get up and start to walk around, straying pretty far. For a few days, you’d just wander through the abandoned streets aimlessly. There was no motive to do anything anymore.
What could you even do?
In the air, you could hear the sounds of what appear to be helicopter propellers. Looking to the sky, you cover your eyes with your arms to shield from the sun. Recognizing it as Rainbow, just rebranded, you raise your arms in the air before beginning to sprint off for shelter the moment bullets start to rain on you. A much different adrenaline rush goes through you, giving you time to run and hide from whomever it was that was attacking you. Gustave, Olivier, and Julien rappel from the helicopter safely with weapons raised and ready to open fire. Through your hiding spot, you simply stare at the trio as they slowly scan the area for you.
They stick together instead of splitting off, almost as if acutely aware of how much different things are since the first outbreak. You move a little to remain out of their sights once they get too close. At the same time as your movements, Olivier had activated an updated version of his EE-ONE-D and their sights zeroed in on you. With your arms still in the air, Olivier and his fellow Frenchmen then look down at his screen. “No way…C'est impossible…” Gustave says, lowering his MP4 slightly. Julien then looks up at you, “Are you…conscious?” The younger GIGN operator is absolutely stunned to see the state you’re in. Lowering your arms slightly, you step out into the light.
A loud purr seems to rumble in your chest this time around, and it’s accompanied by the nod of your head. “Mon Dieu,” Olivier says as he makes the sign of the cross on himself, “you…what did it do to you?” Feeling ashamed for reasons far beyond your ability to prevent, you just gesture to yourself. The way you are now is what the Chimera Parasite did—there was no going back. Gustave then pulls the others to the side and he begins to whisper, “Did you bring the prototype netting with you?” he asks Julien. “Oui, should we use it on them? Are you sure we should be taking them back?” Julien asks, concerned about the hazards capturing you brings.
“We have to—it’s our only chance to get more samples of the Archæans and test our weaponry,” Olivier says, firm about what they should do with you. “What? But…but that’s your own teammate, Lion,” Gustave also protests, flicking his eyes to look at you before looking at Olivier again. “Don’t you realize what we could learn, Doc? We can catch up with this resurgence and fight them off before they spread further to the world,” Olivier argues. “That’s dangerous though—what the hell happens if we kill them, eh? We lose everything,” Julien also argues. Something in Gustave’s mind suddenly clicks, and for once, he seems to agree with something that Olivier’s suggested when it came to situations like these.
“You know what? You’re right…the scientific and medicinal aspect that could come from this is rather tempting,” Gustave says, nodding his head. Julien just sighs and grabs the small capsule that has an electric sort of netting inside that’s triggered via motion sensor. Handing it to Gustave carefully so as to not accidentally trigger it on each other, Julien just looks a little distraught. Your eyes are focused on Gustave, and you hear him whisper “I’m sorry” before throwing the capsule at you. Due to the motion, it activates and you’re forcibly captured then simultaneously electrocuted. A loud screech escapes you as you’re practically forced to be conscious while this happens.
Almost immediately, your body succumbs to shock due to the voltage and once he’s sure you’re passed out, Julien presses a button on his uniform to stop the current. Growling, clicking, and screeching begins to resound in the area, signaling for the trio to get out soon now that I’ve unintentionally alerted nearby Archæans. You’re then lifted up and carried towards the helicopter, swiftly extracted then transported to the REACT Headquarters, now located in the United States instead of the United Kingdom. The moment you woke up, you were tied up and had several DNA samples taken from you. You make a gentle purr, alerting the scientists with you and making them jump.
Refusing to appear as a threat, you don’t struggle against the restraints they put you in. “Gustave? What should we do now?” One of the scientists asks. Looking forward you can see a rather stern look in Gustave’s eyes at this moment; knowing that if he shows any weakness to what he’s doing to you, he won’t be able to continue his work as the head of Archæan Testing. “Take the samples you have so far and get out of the room—we’re going to test their new limits,” Gustave orders rather coldly. The scientists nod and step out of the room, taking the samples they have and distributing them to other researchers. The restraints on you are then released, and you have free roam to move.
This would only prove to be a mistake, as you’d take a sudden marksman round to the shoulder. Clearly in pain and taken aback, you screech so loudly in your throat that more of your “blood” spurts out of your open wound. You’re able to remain standing, only stumbling slightly. Timur’s the one to have made the shot on you, and through the scope of his OTs-14, you can see him glaring hard at you. He didn’t even consider you a comrade anymore—just a target dummy he had to shoot at. This seemed to be a durability test, testing your new body out. Looking down at your shoulder, you watch yourself regenerate slowly.
“Hit a more lethal area this time, Timur,” Gustave orders. Giving a nod, Timur steadies his aim towards your abdomen and fires another round into you. You’d wished he’d at least have the decency to let you hear his beloved Marksman rifle as it fired at you, but Timur had a suppressor on it to keep you from that satisfaction. You didn’t deserve that, and yet you couldn’t understand what’s caused him to turn on you so harshly. You fall over this time from the force, putting your hands on your abdomen to stop the bleeding. This shouldn’t be happening at all—this is so much worse than you thought you’d have it.
Days would then eventually turn to months, and you were forced to feed on other Archæans to replenish your energy due to no longer being near the Archæan source and having to take their nutrients for yourself. Everything felt so wrong. Your life turned upside down in an instant, and you’d become a little labrat and training dummy for the “greater good of the team” due to your regenerative capabilities. Greater good your fucking ass this was. As you remain there in a corner, slowly regenerating yourself in the darkened room, the sound of the door opening and someone walking in rings out.
You’ve stopped raising your head to look up at this point, already expecting a researcher, or someone else you’d once known. It was Gustave, and he knelt down next to you. “How are you feeling? Do you need anything?” He asks you softly, giving you a gentle smile behind his quarantine mask. You keep yourself away from looking at him, feeling tears prick at your eyes. Gustave would do this every single night after tests for the day would be over, showing you affection and giving you whatever you could’ve needed. And at first, you’d actually respond by pressing on a little button whenever he’d present it to you.
Nowadays, you just ignored Gustave’s presence. You thought you’d be able to trust your team with anyone that had the misfortune of becoming a Roach years back, but now that they have someone they can use? Many turned a blind eye, meanwhile others protested against what was happening to you. You’d been stabbed, shot, blown up, trapped, electrocuted—anything that was able to be used against an Archæan was first used against you. “Please stop ignoring me…” Gustave suddenly mumbled, breaking you from your thoughts. You simply growl at him, the vibrations so deep that he could feel them in the linoleum flooring.
“Please…you know I don’t like doing this to you. I didn’t think they’d end up putting me in charge of this unit,” Gustave says, gently reaching out and putting a hand on your shoulder. You just flinch away, looking up down at him with angry eyes filled with just as furious tears. He stays there on the floor, looking up at you with an apologetic gaze. It’s as if Gustave can understand what you’re trying to say—you never deserved any of this and if he was really sorry, he’d stop. But he’s too far in to stop, and the Archæans just keep coming and coming the more people they take to their trees. “Mon ami, I can’t just stop…you and I have the same ideals!” Gustave exclaims.
He looks exhausted now, almost like he’s had his own break despite the calm demeanor he usually masks himself with. You just growl even lower at him, keeping your distance desperately the more Gustave inches closer. He comes to his senses at some point, ”I…I’m so sorry…I should have never even agreed to do any of this months ago,” He begins, running a hand through his graying hair, “I don’t know what’s come over me…but I fear I’ve lost myself and hurt the one person I’d cared for the most.” The look in his eyes remains exhausted and apologetic. And yet…you can’t find yourself to sympathize with him at this moment.
If he didn’t want this…then why did he glare at you all the time? Not reacting this time, you simply turn away. Gustave’s talking to a brick wall at this point, and he sighs. “I’ll be back tomorrow with more nutrients for you…bonne nuit,” he says. You then watch him watch out, and the tears that have been teetering on whether or not to call finally spill down your face. If only you’d managed to get out of your apartment in time…if only you’d done something differently, then maybe things would have been better for you. Maybe you’d be out there, fighting Archæans instead of being one yourself.
You have no mouth, and you must scream.

MASTERLIST
warnings: cursing, soft moments
•••
summary: a public appearance leads to a tearful confrontation.
•••
“i think a night out would be good for you, ramírez,” mira begged in spanish, leaning against the doorframe. “when’s the last time you spent a day away from your screen?”
“is that important?” he responded. “we’ve both got work. better have it done now than never.”
“we planned a food drive, few miles from here. you’re serving.”
“do i have to?” jackal didn’t mean that, his mind was overtaken with his occupation. perhaps his concerns were useless, and maybe a minute in the real world would refresh his system. for a moment, his mind flashed to his brother, and the conditions they grew up in. his heart ached at the thought of anyone else going through the same, and he suddenly arose, tying his long undercut into a bun and donning his policia jacket. mira nodded and departed, sending a reminder to the comms about the event.
the last time this much press was on ryad was that dismal day, and each flash and reporter that passed by while he sat in the car made him shudder. there’s a reason i’m always inside, he thought, exhaling, but his mind clawed at the thought, desperate to remove it from his conscience. nothing could ever stop these feelings, those of not being good enough, of never being there for anyone. he turned towards his teammate, lion.
“flament,” he began, folding his hands. “how do you do it?”
“how do you mean?” he replied, single eyebrow raised in surprise.
“through all the problems you’ve come through, how do you persist?”
“well...” he flexed his jaw, giving his full attention to ryad as he turned. “you won’t be able to help everyone, and i’ve come to terms with that. if i know someone can be saved, i do my best to make sure they don’t have the same life i did.”
you won’t be able to help everyone.
his throat tightened.
a large white building topped with a bell came into view, and the operators applied an anti-paparazzi scarf to save them from the press. flashes, screams, barks and praises came to jackal’s ears as he entered the church, prepared to receive instructions. him, lion, mira, buck and amaru stood in a circle in an attempt to block out the citizens’ shouts from outside. one by one, they shrugged off the scarves and received orders.
“you know your positions, we don’t need to chitchat, now, let’s get to work!” mira announced, nodding once. everyone parted, heading to the front doors which were already prepared by church staff. ryad found a station which was stacked with tinfoil-wrapped provisions.
morning turned to a warm afternoon as the line dwindled, the reporters quieted and the food was chilling. ryad’s theories were right: even a couple hours of fresh air seemed to detox his body, fill him with a new spirit that longed to be productive.
ryad turned to his right, watching buck stir the soup idly.
“thirty more minutes,” he mumbled. just as he announced the time, someone strolled up, puppy eyes immediately grabbing jackal’s attention.
“excuse me?” the person quietly said, removing their hood to show a young girl, around 19. “are you still serving?”
“absolutely,” ryad said, smiling. “is there anything specific you’d like? we’ve got a lot left.”
“um...” her eyes scanned across the tables, each operator fixing their gaze onto her. “what kind of meats do you have?”
mira’s eyes widened, turning towards her friend, and shrugged. ryad waved her off, looking back at the girl.
“hotdog?” he held up an aluminum wrapped hotdog, holding it out.
“without the bun, please,” she insisted, waving a hand.
“aren’t you a strange one?” lion added, leaning into the conversation.
“hm? it’s not for me,” she smiled lightly at lion, unwrapping the food and holding the hotdog in her hand. wordlessly, she tossed it up. to everyone’s surprise, a dog leaped into the air, catching it flawlessly and proceeding to finish it on the floor. “and... i’ll take some soup for me.”
“that’s incredible!” jackal called, leaning over the table to stick his hand towards the dog. “what’s his name?”
“he’s named after you...” she pushed a piece of hair from her face. “jackal.” ryad felt as if his heart swelled watching her blush in shame.
“why jackal?” he dared to ask.
“he’s a beagle. he tracks.”
she looked at her worn shoes.
“i’m a really big fan, sir,” she wiped her nose, stuffing her hands in her pockets. “i’ve seen all the good you do. i don’t have much, not a home or family. i wanna be like you someday.
“thank you, but it’s really the team that saves the day,” ryad insisted, grinning.
“no, i’ve heard about you on the news. rainbow six extracted hostage! rainbow six disarmed bomb! rainbow six secured a biohazard! if you weren’t there, your team would rush in blindly. you’re a legend, sir!”
ryad was taken aback by the honesty. not once did he consider himself a legend, let alone a truly valuable asset. he almost laughed at how many times he’s been banned from participating. it was his eyenox, not his talent, he told himself...
...but watching her speak about him so highly with her dog and puppy-eyed stare made him rethink. am i a good person?
he saw his brothers eyes, open to the ceiling. he heard the sirens and the reporters describe the murders. the last person to reassure him of his worth is long gone, buried under a mystery he’s spent his entire life uncovering.
“who are you?” ryad inquired, leaning on the table.
“y/n,” she bent down to pet jackal.
“y/n,” he repeated, grabbing her attention. “don’t let anyone tell you you’re worth less than you are. no matter the situation, things always get better.”
“th...thank you, sir,” she held her food close, taking off into a sprint with jackal behind her. ryad waved his hand in a gentle manner, left in a state of awe.
“what a niña extraña,” mira noticed, shouldering ryad. “i’m glad you came out today.”
“sí,” his eyes were trained onto the horizon. his eyes stung, suddenly feeling moist. “she reminds me of myself.”
“how’s that?” she asked.
“ready to take on the world,” he elaborated. “not afraid of a challenge.”
a single tear slipped down his cheek, weaving through his aged creases and stubble.

Buck x Male!Reader
I’m going to have a small break from reader inserts after this because I have four commissions to be working on right now. Once those are done I will be back to filling my requests.
A fire crackles within the circle of meticulously piled rocks at the center of the makeshift campsite for the group of Rainbow Six operators. In total, there are thirteen of them all spread out throughout the small clearing. On one side of the fire all four male Russian operators sit on an overturned log, laughing boisterously as they throw back mugs full of vodka. To the far side, away from the fire, Thatcher, Smoke, and Sledge sit leaning over a table, all seemingly very invested in their game of cards. Jackal, Montagne, Thermite, and Castle all sit casually beside the fire as they converse amongst each other leaving Buck and Y/n to sit beside each other.
“Are you still cold?” Y/n’s Canadian lover chuckles, the corner of his mouth turning up in a teasing manner. Y/n shivers slightly, even beneath a thick winter coat and a blanket thrown over his shoulders, with a steaming mug of hot chocolate in his hands.
Having been born and raised in the city, Y/n has never been camping before, let alone out in the middle of the wilderness in this way. He doesn’t even have the same amount of experience as any of the other operators alongside him. Yet when Buck came to him with the news of an all male hunting trip with the other operators, he couldn’t refuse that sweet and hopeful face.
“Don’t give me that look. Yes, I am still cold,” Y/n frowns as he takes another sip of his drink, hoping it will help to keep him warm. Buck just smiles at the pouty expression. “I don’t often spend my nights out in the middle of the woods, so I’m not accustomed to getting so cold.”
“Worry not little one, I will keep you warm and safe,” the Canadian laughs at the expression Y/n makes upon being called little one. There is nothing little about him. But Buck only wraps an arm around him and pulls him closer to his body for extra warmth.
Across from the fire, Tachanka watches the lovers interact with a smile on his face. “What you need my friend is some vodka. Will keep you warm!” The Russian raises his mug in the air and gives a hearty laugh. Buck just shakes his head.
“Last thing that he needs is alcohol if he is feeling cold,” Y/n huffs in slight annoyance as Buck denies him the drink. “Although I would gladly take some if you are offering.” As much as Y/n would also like to partake in some social drinking, he would much rather stay warm and comfortable.
“Of course! Maxim, pour this man a drink!”
The trapper grins as he grabs an extra mug and fills it near to the brim with the clear alcohol and carries it around the fire to him. Fuze and Glaz sit back in their spots and watch happily, grins splitting their faces as they lean against each other.
“You must toughen up Y/n,” Kapkan chuckles as he hands the mug to Buck, and then turns and pauses to pat the other man’s shoulder. “It will only get colder the longer the night goes on.”
“And I will do my best to keep him warm!” Buck boasts with a playful wink, taking a large swig of his drink. The Russians cheer and laugh as they all settle back into their spots, quieting down when Thatcher grumpily tells them to keep it down so he can focus on kicking the other two British operators’ asses at cards. Y/n simply rolls his eyes and tries to absorb as much of Buck’s warmth as he can.
As the night goes on, it does in fact grow colder. Luckily Y/n manages to stay cozy and warm with a solid wall of Canadian muscle pressed up along his back as he sleeps. Yet something wakes Y/n from his slumber. He just isn’t sure what. Turning over, Y/n gazes to see if his lover has also been woken up by whatever has pulled him from his pleasant state. Buck is still snoring softly however with a blissful look on that dashing face.
Maybe he is just imagining things, or is perhaps just uneasy from the unfamiliar environment, and thus simply unable to stay asleep. Since he is already up, Y/n decides that he might also relieve himself so the urge to go does not wake him up again later. So he extracts himself from his lover’s arms without waking him and then slides on his boots. Armed with only a flashlight, Y/n steps out of the safety of the shared tent and towards the tree line. The cold, crisp air feels like a slap to the face that has his skin stinging. It is best to make this a quick trip. The sooner he can get back into the tent, back into the warm and loving arms of his lover the better.
Quickly finishing his business, Y/n goes to  walk back into the clearing, but pauses just inside the circling trees. Something tells him this is exactly what woke him. Lumbering through the center of their campsite is the largest brown bear he has ever seen. In that moment he is glad that he went to the bathroom first, otherwise there would be a mess in his pants.
Luckily, it does not seem that the bear has seen Y/n at all. So, despite his utter fear and terror, Y/n slowly inches his way back over to his tent while never turning his back on the creature. Buck will know what to do. He will keep him safe. So Y/n manages to find himself awkwardly maneuvering his way back into the tent with his gaze still locked on bear. Then he tries to zip it closed as quietly as possible before turning to the still peacefully sleeping Canadian.
“Sébastien, wake up!” Y/n speaks in little over a whisper as he desperately shakes the other man by the shoulder. At this point he wishes that he never agreed to come on this trip. Nobody said anything about there being bears. “Please, Sébastien!”
“Y/n? What time is it? Why are you up? What is going on?” the other man finally cracks his eyes open, but he is clearly still tired and a bit confused. From looking around the tent he can easily tell that it is still the middle of the night.
Just as Y/n opens his mouth to speak again both males hear the sound of the of the beast trailing closer to them. There is barely enough light from the moon to create the shadow of the large beast passing their tent. Instantly Buck is sitting up on high alert, ready for action. It isn’t his first bear encounter, and he is willing to make damn sure it isn’t his last. Y/n bites his lip as he shuffles across the tent to hide behind his lover, pressing up against his back and watching the silhouette of the bear move across their campsite.
“Did the bear see you? Could you see what it was doing?” Buck asks in a near whisper as he reaches across the tent to grab his gun as well as a large canister that looks almost like pepper spray. Y/n shakes his head in response. “Here, this is bear spray. Only use it if and when I tell you to. Got it?”
Several minutes pass of them sitting there, waiting for either the bear to leave or for it to make a sudden move towards them. But it doesn’t attack. It circles the entire campsite, searching every nook and cranny, leaving no stone unturned. Several times it brushes up against the fabric of their tent, and Y/n has to bite back a whimper.
“I’m scared,” Y/n is terrified that if he speaks, the bear will hear him and come after them, but he needs the comfort of his lover’s voice. He desperately clenches handfuls of the other man’s shirt as he tries to keep himself calm. “What are we supposed to do?”
Buck adjusts his hold on the gun, turning so that he can wrap his other arm around Y/n and pull him to his chest. “It will be alright, Y/n, I will keep you safe,” he presses a kiss to the top of his head to punctuate his words. “We must wait. Most likely the bear will lose interest and wander back off. If not, that is what the gun and bear spray are for. But no matter what, I will not let it hurt you.” The Canadian looks directly into Y/n’s eyes as he says those words, and Y/n knows that he is one hundred percent serious.
True to Buck’s words, the bear wanders the clearing for another fifteen minutes or so before it grows disinterested and walks back into the trees. Only then does Y/n sigh and allow himself to relax once more. Buck gives a breathless chuckle as he sets his gun back down and takes the bear spray back.
“Are you alright?” Buck watches his lover with a great deal of concern on his features before pulling Y/n against his chest and tucking his head beneath his chin.
“Yeah, I think so,” Y/n breathes after a few seconds. “Just a little spooked. Remind me not to go out alone again.” There is another chuckle from the Canadian as he slowly drags them back onto their bed pad, pulling off the other man’s boots before he throws the blankets back over them.

The world around you was burning hot yet freezing cold at the same time as you lay on the floor. You were in and out of consciousness as the stasis foam covered your entire form, locking your position in place until you could possibly hope to be saved. You were completely overwhelmed and managed to be separated from Gustave and Olivier in an attempt of getting rid of a newly formed nest. “(Y/N)! Quickly, we need to get to her!” you hear Gustave faintly yell. “No, it’s too late! The stasis foam has already overtaken her! We’re getting overwhelmed right now, we need to leave!” Olivier yells over the bullets spraying fire into Archæns. “Merde…we’ll come back for you later (Y/N)!” Gustave yelled. You wanted to reach out to them, hope you would be able to be rescued at some point once the Archæns realized the threat of you coming in and killing their nest was gone.
But there was nothing you could do but fully enter the stasis state.
Back on REACT base, a man has just had the sensation of his world crashing. Upon seeing only 2 of his 3 fellow operators, one of which being his wife walking back into base covered head to toe in anti-Archæn body armor, Marius was frozen. He saw the two Frenchmen you had gone along with distraught and disheartened. They couldn’t bear looking Marius in the eyes, for they knew they were filled with fear and an undeniable pain. “Where is she?” the German spoke, voice barely above a whisper in the now quiet hall they were in after removing their gear. “Mon ami, please—we did not want this to happen to (Y/N). We were completely surrounded and separated; Gustave and I barely made it out of there together.” Olivier says, voice usually loud as always. “We need to hurry and get back to the central room to input and strategize who’s going and when.” Gustave spoke, carefully putting a hand onto Marius’ shoulder before walking away.
Marius reached out and grabbed Gustave’s hand, eyes filling with tears, “Let me go, please.” Marius said, voice panicked and filled with desperation. “Non. If you go with the extraction team in this state you can risk getting them, yourself and (Y/N) killed. You must stay here.” Olivier said. “Please understand, this is for your wife–for (Y/N).” Gustave pleaded gently.” Marius just stared at him before letting go of his hand. A soft “merci” was whispered before the Frenchmen walked away, looking at the distraught husband of their colleague like he was just a puppy.
A few days would then pass before the rescue extraction team set out, and Marius found himself standing in the exact same spot he had been when he realized you were left behind once it was announced you were safely recovered and they were set back on their way with you. Marius’ heart pounded wildly in his chest, knowing you were safely rescued was half the battle. He knows you’ll be comatose for a good bit, as is protocol when someone is rescued after being reported M.I.A.
Marius wouldn’t have to wait too long for you to come back, as the entrance to the decontamination room was opened and you were rushed inside in a gurney. Being rapidly decontaminated, you were then transferred to a sterile gurney and wheeled to the infirmary. Marius then ran through the facility to get to you and once he was about to step into your room, someone quickly stopped him by firmly placing their hand on his shoulder. “Why in such a rush, малыш?” l Did they get (Y/N) back?” the person, now recognizable as Aleksandr, asked. “Ja…she’s back…I’m so relieved and I want to see her so bad…I don’t care if she isn’t awake, I want—no, I need to be right next to my wife…” Marius said softly.
Aleksandr, despite wearing his balaclava, smiled sadly at the German. “Not right now, you must wait a bit more. I am sorry.” he said. Marius just sighed, his shoulders slumping, “I always have to wait…” he mumbled. “Hey, remember when you were two years into your relationship with (Y/N) at the beginning of this? She was terrified when she heard you went down, acted the exact same way as you малыш. Just like I told her, it is the same for you now.” Aleksandr said. Marius simply looked up at him with teary eyes, remembering the whole ordeal. “Come, let us sit together and wait for someone to give you the all clear.” Aleksandr said, leading Marius to sit on the chairs outside.
The two sat there, with Marius eventually finding himself able to sleep for once. Aleksandr let the poor man rest his head against his shoulder as he slept, eventually falling asleep himself and allowing a good 14 hours to pass. Being gently woken up by Gustave, Marius did the same to Aleksandr and the two stood up. “(Y/N)’s vitals are steady and she’s ready to see you. Be gentle, okay? She was comatose for a good while.” Gustave suggested. Marius looked up at Aleksandr, who simply pushed him gently towards the infirmary.
Stumbling a bit, he just walked inside and closed the door carefully behind himself. Your head came up once you heard the door open and turned to see Marius, noticing his mildly disheveled state. It was a bit out of character for him, but you knew it was because of what happened. “(Y/N)..!” he exclaimed. Before you knew it, he was right beside you, on his knees with his hands gripping tightly onto the sheets that were covering you. Feeling yourself beginning to cry, your hands tangle into Marius’ hair to try and calm him down. “I was so scared…” he whimpered into the mattress of your bed. “It’s okay, I’m right here…” you whisper.
“I’m so glad you’re safe, I know exactly what it’s like to be surrounded by those Archæns…” Marius whispered, looking up at you. “It’s awful…getting completely surrounded and knocked down by something like them…” you say. “But it’s okay…you’re here and you’re back with me…” Marius said. He stood up a bit to give you a gentle kiss, one you were happy to reciprocate. You put both hands onto his face, gently holding onto him like that. Marius eventually pulled away from you, bringing his own hands up to cup your face as well. “Once you’re more recovered, we’ll do anything you want…” he said. “Sounds great…I love you…” you whisper against his lips. “Ich liebe dich auch, liebling…” Marius whispered before you pulled him into another kiss.

A/N: I have a thing for medics in Video games. Please God bless my tainted soul. Reader is kinda OC reader, which I hope is OK to those who read this. Reader is an angel and I have NO IDEA how many parts I want this to be. This is currently 30+, 40 pages long on google docs, which is a major accomplishment to me.
Tumblr media
Y/N had the night off from work. Non-stop, for the past month, Y/N worked, helping patients whenever the other doctors got too busy. Y/N worked at the hospital, working with patients that had Covid, keeping her patients healthy and alive.
Y/N was in the bloodline of angels and for decades, her and her family helped heal anyone in need. However, Y/N wanted to pursue something more at her pace. While still studying to earn her Doctor's degree, Y/N also took up technology. She was the first person of her generation to create the healing staff, also known as “M.E.R.C.I.”
“Merci” worked as a temporary healing staff. It used nanotechnology to immensely speed up the body’s healing process. With the press of a button and Y/N’s fingerprint, it starts its process. A simple paper cut? Instead of taking a week to heal, with the help of “Merci”, it was healed in less than seconds. Got the flu? No worries, the staff is able to take the vaccine and nanotechnology to kill off any bacteria. Everyday, Y/N takes her time to find anything to improve her staff. The previous update to the staff, Y/N created it to work with her wings to heal herself while touching the staff. In order to heal herself, Y/N allowed her bloodstream from her wings (since they have a different blood clot than her body’s bloodstream) to move through her staff and body’s bloodstream to heal herself. 2 months ago, she found a way to heal herself just through her wings without having to hold her staff.
Recently, she and some other doctors have been trying to find the cure for the recent plague. Covid has been around for 2 years, and she hasn’t been able to find a cure. More and more people came under her care, only to pass away with no success of a new cure. However, the past month, she caught onto something. The first week she encountered the cure for Covid was a test run. When the vaccine proved to be effective, through everyone. Y/N took the chance to heal anyone in her care and now that she’s got some time to herself for her hard work, she decided to upgrade her staff.
While she was working, her apartment building in San Francisco, California started to shake. Most likely an earthquake. Quickly finishing up her work, Y/N grabbed her staff and phone. If there was an earthquake nearby, that would mean she would have to get to work to help out. Opening the door to the hallway, the other people on her floor exited their rooms to see what the ruckus was. “Don’t worry everyone, it’s just an earthquake,” Y/N reassures everyone. However, the building started to shake violently, which triggered Y/N to tell everyone to evacuate the building. Helping anyone she could, Y/N walked down the stairs quickly and exited the building.
Once she was outside, Y/N decided to take off to see what was fully going on. Opening her wings, Y/N bent her knees, and jumped, getting momentum to get in the air. Taking to the sky, Y/N flew past her building and glanced around, trying to get a glance of where the earthquake was starting. However, something emerged from her building, headed straight to her. Barely dodging it, the spike submerged back into her building.
Then, instead of one spike, multiple spikes shot out of her building at once, directly aiming at Y/N. She heard screaming below her when the spikes emerged. People were screaming at her, worried their successful angel was going to die. Y/N tried her best to dodge the oncoming spikes but they only enclosed around her. The spikes continued to close out any light that tried to peek through. There were screams of panic and she could faintly hear her sister and father shout to her. Looking the best she can, through the only slim light the spikes prepared to close, she saw her sister and dad urgently flying to her. Then in a split second, Y/N’s vision was completely black.
When Y/N gained her vision back, she noticed she was in something gooey. Opening her eyes, Y/N saw she was in a small building with souvenirs all around her. Looking closely, one of the souvenirs had the Statue of Liberty. That can’t be right. I was in California, how’d I get to New York? Y/N questioned herself as she sat up. There was an annoying beeping ringing in her ears. This was the museum of New York. But the room was filled head to toe with a black substance. And there were bulging things popping out of the ground and wall, convulsing.
Standing up, Y/N took in her surroundings some more, noting everything around her, trying to find a way out. The air smelt of rotting flesh and intoxicated gas, causing her to cough. Searching the floor in hopes maybe someone dropped their gas mask, Y/N saw an orange, clear glass gas mask. Quickly reaching for it, Y/N put it over her mouth and nose and tightened the straps around her head.
The beeping was still ringing in her ears, which brought Y/N back to her current predicament. Spinning around, Y/N saw someone hanging from a pillar of arms and spikes, just like the same one that sprung from her building back in California. Walking closer to the person, her foot hit something metallic. Looking at what she kicked, she noticed it was a pistol. Picking it up, she checked the mag, which was fully loaded. Deciding it was best to keep it, Y/N put it in her back pants, between the jeans and belt she wore, making sure the safety was on.
Carefully moving closer to the person hanging, Y/N noticed it was a man. He had the same mask she was wearing but more advanced. He was covered in a yellow substance, it was like foam architects use for insulation in homes. Worried about the person, Y/N quickly moved her two fingers to his neck, checking for a pulse. When there was a pulse, Y/N started to remove the man from the pole. However, there was a noise coming from the flesh wires connected to the man. Suddenly, there were these parasites coming at the man, so having no choice, Y/N took the pistol out of her back pants and unfastened the safety of the gun. Quickly shooting at the things while still pulling the man from the pillar's grasp, Y/N released him in no time. Grabbing the man before he fell to the ground, Y/N carried him on her back.
Exiting the small building, Y/N saw many creatures wandering around. At first glance, they looked like a normal person but the spikes and red shot eyes told a completely different story. Quickly looking around, Y/N saw a small little shack - probably a storage room - and quickly yet quietly moved her and the man she was carrying to the room.
Pressing the button to open the door, it opened and Y/N rushed in and carefully set the man down and closed the door. Once it closed, Y/N slid down it, already stressed from what’s going on around her.
Finally taking the time to catch her breath, Y/N realized her staff wasn’t with her. Quickly rising to her feet, Y/N decided that it may be where she woke up. Looking at the man, the yellow foam started to dissolve from his body, and deciding it was best to quickly search for it before he woke up, Y/N opened the door, gun in front of her, prepared to shoot those things. Quietly running to the gift shop area again, Y/N saw her gold, long staff, shining bright from the reflecting lights. It was sticking out like a sore thumb compared to the black substance it was around. What was very interesting to her though, was the black substance refused to touch her staff. It looked like it was trying to regrow itself but with her staff there, it rejected from getting close to it. Snatching up her staff, Y/N made her way back to the unknown man. While walking back to the small room, the black substance urged itself away from her staff and herself.
When Y/N opened the door, the man was still unconscious, leaning against the wall she propped him up on. Sighing a relief, Y/N sat next to him and shifted him into a more comfortable position. Laying him down on his side, Y/N shifted him to put his head on her thighs, using them as pillows.
There was constant groaning outside the small shack Y/N and the unknown, unconscious man were in. Y/N didn’t know how long she and the man were sitting there for, but Y/N could feel her wings start to get too tight. The beeping she heard when she saved him long since stopped. Occasionally, Y/N heard a helicopter flying around in the sky. Y/N wondered if whoever was in that helicopter was trying to look for this man. Once all the yellow foam disintegrated from the mans’ body, Y/N could clearly see he must have been a military operator. A Doctor one at that.
He had heavy armor on - probably to protect himself from the monsters outside - and there were obvious badges on his vest letting people know of his rank. Y/N started to feel drowsy, which led her to believe the two of them have been sitting there for a while. However, Y/N decided it would be best she should be away when the man wakes up, hoping to get some answers from him.
However, it wasn’t long before the man started to stir awake. Not wanting to frighten the man when he awoke, Y/N decided best to not move or speak until he knew where he was. She saw him glance around, probably expecting to see someone familiar, but when he glanced at her, shot straight up into a sitting position.
At first, Doc didn’t remember where he was last, until looking around the room. Last thing he remembered was getting cut off from his teammates while on a mission to gain more information on the parasite invading their world. Doc fully expected to be back at base with Eliza or Jordan to be sitting next to him, maybe even Elena - if she wasn’t busy burying her nose in her technology. Instead, he was laying down with his head on some random woman's thighs. He shot straight up, half expecting her to be one of the infected monsters, since he wasn’t fully awake. In his “Fight-or-Flight” mode.
The action, however, didn’t faze Y/N one bit, quite frankly, she fully expected it to happen. She didn’t know him, and he didn’t know her, and if she were in his position, would probably do the same thing. Being the Doctor she is, decided to calm the man down before he did anything to get them killed. In a calm and quiet voice, Y/N told him everything was alright. That they were safe for now.
“Who’re you!” the man quickly questioned. “How’d you get here?” he yet again questioned. How was a nurse here? Why was a nurse in the Hot-Zone.
“I’m Y/N L/N. I don’t know how I got here or even what’s going on, I assumed when you woke up you could give me some answers,” Y/N explained herself.
“I’m Gustave Kateb, an operator working for Rainbow,” Doc introduced himself, having no choice but to work with this woman. “What’s a nurse doing here? Everyone was supposed to be extracted from this area.”
“Like I said, I don’t know how I got here. One moment I’m evacuating my building from an earthquake, then the next some spikes attacked me and brought me here. And I’m a Doctor, not a nurse,” Y/N barked back at the man.
Doc was completely flabbergasted. There was no way the parasite could teleport someone from one place to the other. Either this woman was lying or his situation got a whole lot more dangerous. Doc squinted at the woman, trying to decipher if she really was just lying. But when the woman shifted her position to the middle of the small room and let out enormous pure white wings, Doc knew something didn’t add up.
“Who are you really? Did I die and go to hell just to be teased by an angel?” Gustave questioned the woman. The statement caused the woman to chuckle quietly until she saw his blatant facial expression.
“You serious? You’ve never heard of me?” Y/N asked the man. Doc only shook his head, waiting for an explanation from the angel. Y/N only kept quiet, thinking of what could possibly be going on.
None of what was going on made sense to her. She’s never heard of “Rainbow” and this man has never heard of her and looked bewildered to see her wings. He didn’t look a day over 40, so even if he didn’t know about her family when he was younger, he would’ve at least heard about her at some point.
Then it finally clicked. Whatever those spiky things were, they brought her to a different dimension, at the exact same time she was originally from.
“This is going to sound insane, but do you know the multiverse theory?” Y/N asked Gustave. Doc only nodded his head, not quite sure where this woman was going. “Ok, good. Well, I’m technically not from this,” Y/N paused, choosing her next words carefully. “I’m not from this dimension. From where I come from, my family has been angels for centuries, and it wasn’t uncommon to see me or my family members. Well, a while ago, I was working on my staff,” Y/N showed off her staff to the Doctor. “When there was an earthquake in my state. Well, at least at the time I thought it was an earthquake. When I went to check it out, these red and black spikes attacked me and blocked me from escaping. The next moment, I wake up on gooey black ground in New York,” Y/N explained her bizarre story to the medic.
Doc could not believe what he was hearing. This woman must have hit her head or something and actually believes she’s an angel. Doc thought to himself. But, it’s the only logical thing. He didn’t see her just appear out of thin air, he was in Stasis, waiting for his teammates to save him.
“I don’t know how much I believe your story, but for the sake of surviving right now, I’ll believe you,” Doc finally admits, grabbing at his face.
Y/N only rolled her eyes. If he didn’t believe her, let him believe whatever he wanted to believe, she knows the truth.
The two sat in silence before Doc spoke up, “Your staff, what does it do? You mentioned you were working on it and that you’re a doctor, neither of those have something in common.”
“The staff can heal someone in a matter of seconds, depending on the severity. I call it ‘MERCI’, which stands for Mature Emergency and Reflected Child and Infant,” Y/N explained her technology to the man.
“How does it work? How can it heal someone in a matter of seconds?” Doc asked again.
“With the click of this button here and my finger print, it uses nanotechnology to speed up the healing process of the human body. Let’s say you broke your arm. Instead of needing 6 weeks to heal and physical therapy, MERCI can heal that wound in under 3 minutes.”
“C'est tellement intéressant! Can it heal anything like disease? Let’s say - the flu?”
“Yeah!” Y/N exclaimed.
Doc asked Y/N if he could see how it works, with a closer inspection. Y/N agreed and handed over her staff to him. For a brief moment, when Gustave took MERCI into his grasp, he felt a warm, tingling sensation. Like a sense of security. While examining MERCI, Gustave explained his gadget to her. However, while he was explaining his gadget, Gustave realized he probably didn’t have it on him. Worried, Gustave searched his body, checking the spots where he kept his Stim Pistol.
“Merde, mon Stim Pistol, je l'ai perdu!” Gustave exclaimed while still frantically searching around.
Y/N, knowing little to no French, questions what he just said. “My Stim Pistol, I lost it! It must be back where I was in Statis.”
“Your Stim Pistol? Is that the gun you were just telling me about?” Y/N questioned the French-man.
“Oui!”
“OK, calm down. It’s probably in the gift shop where my staff was, I can go look for it if you need it that bad,” Y/N went to say before Gustave interrupted her.
“No! You could get hurt, it’s best if we wait for backup. We can’t take on whatever’s out there.” There was realization in Doc’s eyes. “How long have we been here? Was there a beeping sound coming from my uniform when you saved me?”
“Yeah, after a while it stopped. And I don’t know how long we’ve been here for. Whatever you’re getting at, I heard a helicopter pass by over us some time ago.”
“Oh mon dieu, espèce d'idiot. That beeping was a distress signal to let REACT know my location! They must have been searching for my distress signal again for the past couple hours,” Doc exclaimed.
“Hey man, I’m not a military operator, I’m just a doctor.”
“‘Just a doctor.’ Did you forget you’re a mythical creature too?” Doc mocked while grabbing his communication device.
“Touche,” Y/N replied while finally closing her wings, already giving them enough time to stretch.
Y/N noticed Gustave messing around with a phone-like device in his hands. She went to question what he was doing before there was a beeping sound. It lasted for a couple of seconds before there was a voice on the other line. “Gustave! Oh my god we were looking everywhere for you! What happened? Why did your distress signal stop?” a woman frantically exclaimed. Y/N let the two talk, half expecting for it to be an important and private conversation.
Y/N took the time to examine her staff, making sure whatever was making the black goo shy away from her staff. It had to be one of the vaccine’s. It wasn’t a very long conversation Gustave and the woman were having until Y/N heard her name pop up in their conversation.
“A woman named Y/N found me in Stasis, so she must have accidentally stopped my distress signal,” Gustave explained to the woman on the phone. Y/N didn’t know what to do, introduce herself or wait until they’re rescued.
“Y/N? Never heard that name before,” a new voice spoke up. Instead of being another female, it was a male speaking.
“Jordan, do we have an extraction team headed their way?” the woman asked the other man on the phone.
“Si, Ela and Lion are almost there,” another woman joined in the conversation. She didn’t have the same accent as the other two that were on the phone. Y/N noticed the woman’s accent was Spanish. “Ay, and the woman that saved you? Is she currently conscious?”
“Oui, infact, she’s listening to the conversation,” Gustave chuckled while looking at Y/N. Y/N’s face immediately lit up red, like she got caught with her hand in the cookie jar.
“Well Y/N? Did I say your name right?” the American woman asked the angel.
“Yeah.”
“Ok, well, I’m Eliza Cohen, the other two on this call are Jordan Trace and Elena Álvarez. We’re sending some of our elite operators to save you. They’re 5 klicks away, Gustave, where are you two at?”
“We’re in a small shed outside the museum gift shop,” Y/N butt in before Gustave could, since he didn’t know exactly where he was taken to.
“Already letting Ela and Lion know of your location. There should be an extraction point right outside the gift shop. Are you two trapped? Surrounded?” Eliza asked.
“I’m not too sure, but I should tell you something before we’re rescued,” Doc told the people over the phone.
“Everything ok? No one hurt, right? Is she infected?” Elena asked.
“No, uhm, we’re fine. No injuries. However, uhm,” Gustave stuttered while looking at Y/N for confirmation he can tell his colleagues what she is. Y/N hesitated before nodding her head. “Y/N isn’t exactly from here. She has wings like an angel.”
There was a long pause before Jordan spoke up, “Doc, are you sure you didn’t hit your head?” However, before Gustave could respond, the duo heard the helicopter nearing their location.
“I hear Jäger approaching.”
“Gustave-” Eliza went to complain before Gustave ended the transmission.
“Your wings are too big to get into the helicopter, and whatever is in your staff is the answer we need to stop this parasite. When Olivier and Ela come get us, follow us to HQ,” Doc explained his plan to the angelic doctor. Y/N didn’t know what to say to his plan, so she just nodded her head before they heard shooting outside the shack. “Ok, you ready?” Y/N felt her heartbeat pick up, the anxiety starting to crawl on her skin. It’s been a while since she’s felt like this. Last time was when she was introducing herself back in middle school.
When the shooting stopped, Gustave stood up with the help of Y/N and the two made their way to the door. Gustave pressed the button and the door opened up. Y/N peaked around the corner, pistol out, preparing to shoot anything the extraction team might have missed. However, Y/N saw a buff and thin figure, guns out in front of them and looking around. Y/N helped Gustave out the door and Gustave called the two operators. “Ela, Olivier! Over here!”
Olivier and Ela hastily made their way to Y/N and Gustave. Lion could see that Y/N was struggling to completely hold Gustave up, so Olivier took Gustave’s large form from her small structure. That was when Ela saw her wings.
“Gustave didn’t fucking hit his head, she’s a literal angel!” Ela exclaimed in shock. Olivier looked at what Ela was seeing. Despite her small frame, Y/N’s wings were huge, easily towering over Olivier. “She’s not going to fit in the helicopter,” was Lion’s only response to seeing the angel.
“We’ve already discussed that. Before we go, my Stim Pistol is back in the gift shop. Ela, can you help Y/N go find it? She only has my pistol and there’s probably not much ammo left in it.”
“Sure,” Ela agreed while starting to make her way to the gift shop. Y/N followed quickly behind, looking around, prepared to shoot anything that comes their way. There wasn’t much conversation, but maybe it was best, Ela needed to be on her top gameplay. Entering the small building, Y/N and Ela quickly looked around the floor, attempting to find the older medics gun.
“Did you notice that wherever she goes, the parasite refuses to touch her?” Lion questioned as he watched the two females make their way to the gift shop.
“Oui, whatever cure is in her staff, that’s the cure we need to end this parasite,” Gustave briefly explained as he glanced around, preparing himself for any threats. Olivier looked at Gustave with astonishment. He said that so nonchalantly.
“Did she already explain how the staff worked?”
“Yes, the staff’s name is MERCI, like thank you in french but it stands for Mature Emergency and Reflected Child and Infant. Apparently she can heal anything with that staff within seconds, minutes even.”
“Impossible! Where did she come from?”
Doc went to explain the whole situation she’s in but the two French-men heard the infected coming their way.
“Oh merde! Ela, Y/N! It’s time to go!” Gustave shouted, hoping the two could hear him. Almost instantly, Ela and Y/N ran out of the building with infected hot on their tail.
“Bez gówna! Y/N, go ahead of me!” Ela shouted an order to Y/N. However, before she could, one of the infected shot a spike at Y/N and hit her leg.
“Oh shit!” Y/N exclaimed as she fell to the floor.
“Y/N!” Gustave shouted in worry. Ela heard the ruckus and quickly shot at the parasite that attacked Y/N. Once it was dead, Ela went to help Y/N up but she shoved her away.
“Go, I can’t get in the helicopter, I’ll follow you guys!”
“Ela, Y/N, hurry up!” Olivier shouted as he shot at incoming infected.
“Go!” Y/N shouted over the gunfire while getting up.
Ela was conflicted, but she had no choice but to trust the injured woman and ran to help Lion with shooting off infected. Olivier helped Gustave into the helicopter then followed suit while Ela defended the helicopter. “What about Y/N!” Doc exclaimed as he saw Y/N lagging behind, also noticing her wound.
“She told me to go without her!” Ela shouted as loud as she could over the blades of the helicopter. Ela quickly jumped in as Jäger started to take off. Lion and Ela shot at the infected that were running to them as Y/N shot at the ones that got near her. Gustave so badly wanted to jump out and help Y/N but it was suicidal.
While Y/N was shooting at the infected, she decided it was best she grew in size. It would help her take off to the sky quicker than if she was normal size. Once the helicopter was high enough in the air, Y/N ran while focusing her energy to grow. Y/N felt her body grow, which felt heavier - as if she was obese - and her wings felt heavier yet light.
“What is going on with her!” Jäger exclaimed as his radar started to detect Y/N’s large form and saw her shift forms.
“I don’t know, she didn’t tell me about this!” Gustave shouted as he saw Y/N take off.
Y/N barely took off without any more problems but not before one of the infected stabbed her side. Y/N let out a shout in pain as she shot the thing in the head. The stab wound stopped her form from growing anymore, which caused her to shrink back to her normal height. Gustave shouted out to her, seeing her get stabbed in the side.
“I’ll be fine! Just get going!” Y/N shouted to Jäger as he guided her to HQ. Y/N held her side, stopping blood from pouring out while her wings healed her.
Y/N followed from a distance, yet next to the helicopter. Her wings grab the air, helping her keep up with Jäger. The wind blew her long blonde hair all over the place, but yet it refused to get in her face. The wind was quiet in her ears, her body adapting to muffle the loud wind naturally, which also muffled the sounds of the blades on the helicopter.
Y/N always loved flying, she and her sister would always race when they were younger, seeing who could fly the highest, or the fastest, or who would save the most animals. When she grew older, she used flying as an escape path from reality. Flying in the clear sky during the day, but night time flies were always Y/N’s favorite. Despite her family being famous, and she loved her people, sometimes they just got too much.
Y/N wondered if her sister and father were doing ok. Knowing them, they were trying to find her. Hopefully they weren’t taken here like she was. She wanted to make sure they were ok and not in this hell hole of a dimension.
While Y/N was reminiscing about her family, she failed to notice the yellow, black and white military boat sitting on the water. She also failed to see that military operators were landing on said boat. It took for Elena to shoot the air near Y/N to get her out of her head.
Y/N glanced down and saw the four operators exiting the helicopter, so Y/N closed her wings and dived down, almost like a parachuter would. Before Y/N got close to the boat, Y/N extended her wings, letting the wind catch her before carefullying flying down, landing safely.
“Holy shit, Doc was right! She’s a goddamn angel!” Jordan exclaimed as multiple people followed behind him, Eliza leading the way. 15 to be exact.
Jordan looked like he was in his mid-30’s, however, white hair started peeking through on his head and face. He had short brown hair and barely a full length beard, copying his hair color. What caught Y/N’s eyes was the bandages barely covering his scarred, burnt hands.
“How is that possible? Who are you really?” Eliza asked the woman. Lion helped Doc past the large group and Ela joined in greeting some of the other operators. Eliza was a middle aged woman, barely any wrinkles on her face, however her face was littered with freckles. She had long, ginger hair braided to the right. She was short compared to Jordan next to her.
“I- ah… I don’t know where you want me to start,” Y/N stuttered nervously. Rubbing her left arm, a habit caused out of anxiety. It seemed like everyone on the boat was staring at her, wondering in amazement how or why she’s there.
“What did you tell Gustave?” Jordan told her, crossing his arms across his chest, waiting to know how she exists. However, this may not have been the most crazy thing he’s seen in his life. The parasite changed his mind on the world and how it worked.
“Ah, well. I’m from a different dimension, where I’m from, my family is descendants from angels. I was taken by the spikes you guys encounter daily. I don’t know why or how that’s possible, but I was just minding my business, working alone before I was taken,” Y/N explained her story yet another time. This time, it sounded to be more real than it did when she first explained it.
“Ha, wait til Harry hears bout this,” a tall and buff Scottish man exclaimed, seeming not to be fazed by her story or appearance. He definitely towered over Y/N’s form, even from afar, she saw this. His head was shaved and he kept his face clean.
“Ok, now what’s your story? Who were you before you were taken here?” Elena asked the small woman.
“I’m a doctor working in San Francisco, California. I’ve achieved many different vaccines for my people and took many people under my wing - no pun intended - when they needed me the most. I’ve achieved to heal people with this staff, MERCI. I can heal people within seconds and minutes with a click of a button.”
“So why follow us?” Jäger asked behind the woman as he exited the front seat of the helicopter.
“Whatever vaccine is in my staff - it’s the cure for whatever this parasite is. Or at least a start to help you defeat this parasite.”
“And your size? How big can you grow?”
Instead of explaining this one, Y/N decided to show them. Taking off, Y/N made sure she wasn’t above the military boat and grew her size. Everyone on the boat watched in amazement at how quick and big she started to achieve. Y/N’s only ever reached the height max of 80 stories. She was the only one in her family to change her physical form. However, for the sake of not losing too much energy, she only reached 20 stories. Switching back to her normal height, Y/N landed back on the boat.
“You’re going to help us rebuild everything once this nightmare is over,” a voice appeared behind the woman. Spinning around, Y/N saw a young man - maybe middle aged - closed a door behind him and approached the woman.
“Harry Pandey, head director of Rainbow. I’ll admit, it’s very interesting to see an angel here in front of me. And I caught your name is Y/N? What’s your last name?” Harry introduced himself. He stuck his hand out towards Y/N for a handshake.
“L/N,” Y/N replied while taking his hand and shaking it.
“If you’d like, we can inspect your staff for the cure and with your help, save thousands of lives. I can’t promise once this is over you’ll return to your world but we’d be honored to have you join us in defeating this parasite plaguing our world.”
“I’d do anything to save someone’s life. The only problem is, I don’t know much about military operations. I know how to shoot guns - my dad would teach me during the summers - but that’s it.”
“We can teach you how and explain all that you need to know but first, let's introduce you to everyone.”
So Harry led Y/N around to meet everyone. She was introduced to the other medic they had onboard, Finka. Her real name is Lera Melnikova. Her partner was Lion - who Y/N already met - and she learned his name was Olivier Flament.
IQ and Jäger were introduced together, the two Germans joined as a group with two other Germans that weren’t on the mission. IQ was Monika Weiss and Jäger was Marius Streicher. Their other two partners were Bandit and Blitz.
Alibi was a short woman but taller than Y/N. She was an Italian woman who joined in with a man named Maestro. She introduced her real name as Aria de Luca.
Fuze and Tachanka were the Russians and also the second strongest operators in Rainbow. They also joined Rainbow with two other operators. Glaz and Kapkan. Fuze wanted to be called Shuhrat and Tachanka explicitly told Y/N to call him Lord Tachanka. Y/N didn’t question the man.
Sledge and Smoke were the Brits. Their other comrades were Thatcher and Mute. Smoke introduced himself as James and Sledge introduced himself as Seamus. He was the second oldest in Rainbow, which surprised Y/N. To her, he didn’t look his age, anything, he looked younger.
Pulse, Jordan and Eliza join Rainbow as the first four operators. They had another friend who wasn’t on the mission named Castle. Pulse introduced himself as Jack Estrada. They were the FBI agents which explained why Eliza and Jordan were the main operators to lead the extraction.
Elena was Rainbow’s head of Research and Development. She’s the one who helped other operators with their gadgets. Y/N requested she be the one to help her improve her staff. Elena felt honored to help the angel with her healing staff, so of course she accepted the challenge. Elena also explained the angel may be able to help her colleague, Jackal, finally sleep. Y/N accepted her request and Harry introduced her to Hibana.
Hibana was probably the most enthusiastic, eagerly introducing herself to the angel. She explained she joined team Rainbow with a man named Echo. She introduced herself as Yumiko and explained how she was so excited to be working with an angel. She told Y/N that she read all about angels when she was younger and dreamt of meeting one.
Rook introduced himself as Julien Nizan and he was one of Doc’s closest friends. He told Y/N that he joined Doc, Montagne, and Twitch on their journey of joining Rainbow. Their unit was the first French, which was pretty obvious to Y/N.
Capitao gave Y/N “I don’t mess around” vibes, and when he shook her hand, confirmed her little theory. He told her his real name but requested that she call him by his code name, explaining he and his colleague, Caveira, were the only ones to use their real names to each other. Out of respect, Y/N obliged and explained she looked forward to working with him and maybe his colleague.
Gridlock was probably the thickest out of everyone she met so far, but when she shook hands with the Aussie, informed Y/N that despite her looks, that it was muscle. Her and her lifelong friend, Mozzie, joined Rainbow together. Gridlock was more serious than Mozzie, which Tori said Max was the most reckless. Telling her that he was the most frequent operator to visit Doc in the medical bay. Y/N laughed at that and explained she was excited to show him her staff. Tori and Y/N had a good laugh at how he would just get in dangerous situations just to get healed by the angel.
Nomad gave Y/N mother vibes. When Sanaa introduced herself, she explained she and her comrade, Kaid, always traveled together. Y/N saw her pointer and middle finger gone on her left hand, which Sanaa noticed and explained how it happened and how she’s been adapting. Especially since she’s trying to get back into drawing.
Lastly, there was Vigil, but he disappeared before Harry could introduce the angel to him. So after meeting everyone, Harry explained that Ela had a sister, Zofia, and that Ela was chosen for the job specifically because of her concussion mines. Harry also explained that over all, including everyone Y/N’s met, that Rainbow has a total of 60 operators. Y/N’s eyes felt like they bulged out of her eyes when she heard the number, but composed herself and explained she couldn’t wait to meet everyone.
Elena came up to Y/N after introductions and let her know that they have VR training, where it’s like the actual thing, but no consequences. Eager to get started, Y/N followed Elena with Harry following to the door Harry came through and went down the stairs.
There were rooms upon rooms under the main deck of the ship. Many of them were occupied by technology and science to find out how to stop the parasite. However, Y/N was directed to a door which led to a small locker room.
“This is where your lockers would be and where our operators prepare for their mission. This is also where we prep you for VR training. And this room,” Elena explained as she led Y/N past the double doors, entering a big, empty room. “Is where you will train the VR. We have a shooting range above on deck. Do you know some guns you can tolerate?”
“I can range from AR’s to Shotguns to sniper rifles. For pistols? Really any, machine gun pistols to regular pistols,” Y/N listed off the guns she’s comfortable with.
Elena continued to explain the process to Y/N, which then Elena decided it would be helpful if Y/N’s wings had protection, so she started listing off what she could do with her wings. Before though, Elena helped Y/N in the VR gear and brought her into the big room. Elena asked what gun she wanted to start with and Y/N explained she wanted the AR and would like the machine gun pistol. Giving Y/N the VR guns, Elena led Y/N to the middle and gave a thumbs up to Jordan and Harry who were in the control room.
“Despite the room being void of anything, when you get close to something in the VR headset, the wall or person will pop up in this room, giving you a sensation of what it’s going to be like out on the field,” Elena explained to Y/N as she guided her to a wall on the headset, and guided Y/N’s hand out to feel the false wall.
“I think I’ve got the idea. I think I’m ready to go,” Y/N said with confidence as she stepped back from Elena and the wall. Elena said that she’ll be up in the control room with Jordan and Harry, and that she’ll pick the simulation. Y/N waited for the screen to turn from black, with her gun held properly in her hand.
There was a sound before Elena spoke through the intercom, “We’ll start with New York, each Hot-Zone has an objective, be sure to complete it before the time is over.” Throwing a thumbs up in the air, the headset changed back to the area Y/N was when she and Gustave were trapped at.
For the rest of the evening, Y/N practiced with the headset, proving her worth that she didn’t realize she had. There were time’s Y/N had to use her staff on herself to heal herself up faster compared without her staff. Y/N had her staff on her back, always having a hilt for her staff wherever she went. Throughout the training, the rest of the operators joined in the control room and watched Y/N perform under tense situations. After the first try on easy mode, Y/N proved that she can easily take on the most difficult situations. Everyone was impressed by her fast and stealth ability, even with her wings on her back.
“I’m impressed, she even uses her wings to protect her from oncoming attacks and uses them for momentum. I want one of you guys to get access to her phone and see if you can contact anyone from her world. I have a feeling someone in her family was a part of the military,” Harry explained his plan. “Elena, I want you to try to find out if you can get into her phone, see if you can reach her world, Gustave, I want you to give her a check-up before her first solo mission.”
“So soon? Shouldn’t she at least be accompanied by at least one of us?” Gustave asked with worry.
“I’ll have Sledge and Nomad on standby in case things get tight on her first mission. Elena, if you would.”
“Y/N, you did amazing, I’ll meet you down by the locker rooms right now,” Elena explained over the com once Y/N’s training mission was done. Out of breath, Y/N took the headset off her sweaty forehead, whipping the sweat off. Making her way to the double doors to enter the locker rooms, Y/N prayed that they had showers on this ship. If not, she doesn’t mind washing in the ocean.
Gustave stared at Y/N as she made her way out of the VR training room. He couldn’t help but admire her morality. She was strong willed and wanted to help anyone that needed it, even if she didn’t know them that well. Besides, having another doctor on duty would help Gustave immensely, especially when she may become the second in command in the med-bay.
Elena quickly asked for her to expand her wings, so she could get measurements for her armor. “I plan to also adjust it to where when you change your size, then the armor will adjust with you.” Nodding her head, Y/N let Elena do her thing and soon she was good to take a shower. Not before Elena showed Y/N her locker, where she could temporarily keep her staff when she didn’t need it.
Turning the hot water on, Y/N stripped from her clothes and stepped into the short wall shower. Closing the curtain, Y/N let the blazing hot water fall on her wings. Y/N felt a visible releaf leave her shoulders, all the stress from today leaving her. Y/N took probably the longest shower in her life, even when she first became a doctor, she never had a long ass shower. Realizing she didn’t have any of her belongings with her, Y/N decided to reuse her clothes until she’s able to get more, and just wash her body of oder with the water, waiting until she can buy hygen objects. Deciding it was best to leave the shower and eat something, Y/N grabbed the towel Elena left for her. Once she was dry, Y/N grabbed her clothes to put on before Elena came back with fresh clothes.
“Gustave suggested you should have a fresh pair of clothes but all we had was a large t-shirt and boxers. Sadly, none of the females we have on board fit your size so you might just have to use your old one’s until we get you better clothes,” Elena explained apologetically. Y/N only shook her head, letting the Director know anything would be fine than her sweaty and dirty doctor’s clothes.
“Also, tomorrow Gustave requested that you visit him to get your physical. Then after that you and I can discuss armor and gear,” Elena told Y/N the plan and Y/N nodded her head in confirmation. Letting Y/N get changed, Elena left the bathroom and waited for her outside. Once Y/N put on the clothes that were given to her, Y/N exited the bathroom with the towel and continued to dry off her wings before letting them air dry.
It was currently 23:00, and Elena led Y/N to the cafeteria where all the operators and REACT workers were eating dinner. Elena explained that they were having a simple dinner such as lasagna and any fruit she decided. Walking behind Elena, the duo grabbed their food and Y/N chose an apple for a side while also grabbing a simple water bottle. Y/N followed Elena to the group of elite operators, who all were talking about random things.
“Ay! Y/N, you did fantastic in training, ye sure yur not apart of the military in yur world?” Seamus asked in suspicion while chewing on some baked noodles.
“Pretty sure, my mom is a nurse while my dad is an engineer. He also went hunting during the summer and he would take me and my sister but when she grew old, my sister didn’t like the idea of killing animals so she stopped and pursued technology,” Y/N described her life in a quick sentence. Her sister was the one who helped her create the idea and look of the staff, of course with a little help from their dad and mom.
“Have you tried to see if you could use your phone while in this dimension?” Elena asked before shoving a fork full of meat, cheese and noodle in her mouth. Y/N didn’t think about contacting her family while in this dimension.
“No, I’ve been busy saving and surviving and my phone is probably dead,” Y/N half heartedly laughed.
“Why don’t you just charge it tonight and try it in the morning?” Julien suggested while taking a sip of some red substance in his water bottle. Y/N only mentioned she’ll charge it and try it in the morning before digging into her food. The recipe tasted exactly like how her mother and father made it. Quickly devouring her food, Y/N felt like she was back home, when she was a kid.
12 year old Y/N was sitting in the dining room with her 11 year-old sister, Rose, and her mom, Leena and father, Dae, having a family dinner, talking about school and homework. The warmth of the food melting in the family of 4 mouths. The heater on and their family pets - a dog and a cat - sitting on the couch in the living room, in view of the family. Laughs were shared and food was shared.
Y/N felt like she was home, and she missed it. She took a drink of the water she grabbed and excused herself.
“Mi amiga! Where are you going?” Elena asked the woman with her mouth full.
“To dry off my feathers!” Y/N shouted over her shoulder to the small group of elite op. Everyone just shrugged their shoulders before continuing their food. On her way out of the cafeteria and to the dock, Y/N passed Gustave, who looked like he had just finished showering.
“Ah, Y/N. I saw you during training, you did wonderful. Harry was impressed and Elena bumped up your difficulty to the real world,” Gustave stopped and praised the woman who blushed at the compliment.
“Thank you. I also was informed you need to see me tomorrow for a physical. What time should I see you?”
“Whatever time you wake up, don't let it be too late like after 11 hundred. Where are you going?”
“I need to dry off my wings and take a nightly flight.”
“Would you like me to accompany you? It gets quite dark out on the sea. And would you care for a jacket?”
“I wouldn’t mind you joining but if you haven’t eaten, don’t worry about joining me. And the cold doesn’t affect me like it would you, I’ll be fine without a jacket,” Y/N explained before starting her trek outside. Gustave followed beside her, excited to see her wings in action again.
There wasn’t much light outside, proving Gustave’s point, but Y/N had faith she would be able to find the ship if they kept a light on. When Y/N exited the small staircase and looked outside, Y/N saw the chaos the parasite caused to New York. The lights that would usually light New York up, were pitch black with the only light coming from the spikes. Creating a hue of red around it.
Not letting the parasite ruin her night, Y/N prepared to take off. Walking to the edge of the military ship, Y/N opened her wings and jumped off, letting the wind catch her. Taking off further into the sky, Y/N closed her eyes, letting the wind dry her hair and wings. She felt free, the smell of the ocean gave her a sense of serenity.
Gustave watched as Y/N glided gracefully around the dark sea. In his eyes, she looked elegant, creating a dark pink hue to cover his face, a feeling to erupt in his stomach. However, while he was watching the angel fly, he failed to notice his colleagues walking up behind him. It wasn’t until Seamus put his hand on Gustave’s shoulder that made him realize they came to watch the angel as well.
“Gee, didn’t realize ye were so infatuated in the bird laddie,” Seamus joked as his deep voice let out a chuckle.
“She’s so interesting to watch, is it bad of me to want to study her and see how she does it?” Gustave questioned his colleague.
“Nay, she is very interesting to watch, anyone would want to know how she does it,” James joins in on their conversation. Despite keeping his cool, he was very excited to see Y/N fly around elegantly with her white wings.
It didn’t take long until Y/N’s wings dried off enough that she was ready for bed. Today was stressful for everyone. And Y/N had a feeling that whatever she was here for, was far from over. Making sure her landing was safe, Y/N noticed all the operators she met today were chatting and some were watching her. Landing enough away from the group, Y/N closed her wings and approached everyone. She failed to see Gustave watching her every move.
“Ay laddie, ye’r a sight to see flying. Are yuh strong enough to carry anyone?” Seamus asked the woman as she approached their group.
“I can carry a max of two, depending who wants to do it. Why? Would you like to fly without the safety of doors?” Y/N joked as she saw some faces contort with confusion. Seamus and James chuckled, accepting her challenge.
“I think I haev it saved on my bucket list.”
Y/N joined in on their chuckling before pardonding herself to sleep. It was then Elena realized that they may not have enough room for her to sleep like the others.
“Y/N, we don’t have space for you to sleep anywhere, we weren’t expecting to have anyone else join us in this fight,” Elena stopped Y/N to explain their problem. Most perked up when they overheard the problem at hand. Gustave wanted to intervene and offer his cot, but there’s a reason the men are in their own space and the women in the other.
Y/N explained it was alright, the cots wouldn’t be strong enough to hold her up, with her wings adding to her weight. She also explained beds were always a problem in her family, so they often slept on the floor with blankets and pillows. “I can sleep basically anywhere,” Y/N explained as she requested she at least have room to sleep. Many of the women protested to her request but Capitao butt in.
“The woman has a point. Cots would just be crushed under her, and if she’s grown up, with her parents joining her, sleeping on the floor, I’m sure she’s fine without a cot or bed for the time being,” Capitao explained as he uncrossed his arms. He was standing back, leaning against the staircase entrance with his arm crossed, watching their problem unfold in front of him.
“Ok fine, we’ll get you some blankets and pillows,” Eliza finally gave in as she guided Y/N back down the stairs. Most of the other operators followed suit, planning to head to bed, considering it was almost midnight.
Gustave and Olivier stayed back, Gustave watching the stars and Olivier fixing his gear, still not having the chance to desuit him from his armor. Before Olivier decided to call it a night, he asked Gustave, “Is there another reason you know why she’s here?” Gustave looked at Lion with disbelief.
“You don’t believe me?” Gustave questioned the man in his mother tongue. Gustave couldn’t believe that Lion of all people was doubting him. Though it made sense. The two French men didn’t see eye to eye.
“Harry and I did some research after he introduced her to everyone, and apparently the real Y/N L/N wasn’t an angel, or a doctor. Y/N L/N died a couple years ago while working on a project in the military. Whoever this is, we can’t trust her. I don’t understand why Harry is trusting her, but I don’t,” Lion explained himself as he crossed his arms. Nothing of this situation made sense to him.
“Harry also explained that she may be able to contact her family from where she's from. If she can contact her family, or someone that can vouch for her, we’ll have enough proof that she can be trusted.
“Do you also realize when you, me and Sledge opened the Gateway, we must’ve triggered something to kidnap her from a different dimension?”
Lion didn’t say anything as he looked down. Before speaking up, Harry intervenes in their conversation. “You may not have known this, but Y/N L/N from our world looked almost similar to that angel. Whether this is a gift from God, or if there really are different dimensions, either way, this is a blessing to help us stop this parasite. Until we have further proof, we just have to trust her. Whatever is happening here, is getting us closer to understanding this parasite.”
Lion only nodded his head to his superior, and Gustave snorted in frustration, and a way to tell Lion, ‘I-told-you-so’. Gustave excused himself and headed back to his respective room, excited to sleep.
On his way to his room, he bumped into Y/N, literally. Apologizing, Y/N laughed while she was on the floor. She explained that she didn’t expect him to be around the corner and scared her, which was funny to her. Gustave lightly chuckled at her childish behavior before reaching his hand out to help her up. Y/N took his offer and stood up. Saying goodnight, Y/N and Gustave went their separate ways.
Throughout the night, Y/N laid restless on the floor, the blankets provided for her wrapped around her small form. Her head rested on the surprisingly soft yet stiff pillow. Her eyes staring at the ceiling, listening to the waves outside clash against the side of the boat. The occasional sound of the boat starting up, keeping the insides warm and some places secure.
This wasn’t how Y/N wanted her day to be like. She expected to wake up and work on her staff, hopefully have her sister visit. Have some coffee for Rose and tea for Y/N. The sisters eat a small baked bread they would buy at their local bakery like they do every time Y/N has time off from work.
The more Y/N thought about her sister, the more she wished that she was asleep and she was really back home, being watched over by her sister. Hoping to wake up and see her sister's bright blue eyes and warm smile. Y/N didn’t realize how much she would miss her sister until now.
Deciding that she wouldn’t get sleep, Y/N quietly left the room full of women, charged phone in hand. It’s better now that she can’t sleep to see if she can contact her family outside this world. Closing the door behind her, Y/N walked around until she found the doors to the cafeteria. Opening the large doors, Y/N swiftly made her way to the back in hopes to find something to calm her nerves.
Finding some tea packets, Y/N prepared a pot full of water and heated up the stove. While the stove was heating up, Y/N opened her phone. Going to the “Phone” app, Y/N quickly found her fathers name and clicked on the call button. It didn’t ring once, indicating that either her father blocked her, or whoever was in this world blocked the phone number.
Y/N tried once again, and this time, it rang once before the call dropped. Having hope that maybe, in some way, she really was able to reach her family outside the hell she’s in. Calling once more, Y/N heard the phone being picked up on the other line. There was no sound coming from the other line, so Y/N greeted hesitantly. When there was no reply, Y/N hung up and called again. Maybe whoever was on the other end didn’t hear her.
It rang once then someone picked up, and this time, there was a voice. It sounded like her fathers, and they sounded urgent. “Y/N?” the voice questioned quickly. Y/N waited a little, not knowing what to say. If this was her dad from her world, she needed answers.
“Dad?” Y/N finally found the courage to ask. The person on the other end shouted something to whoever was with him before he replied.
“Is this my Y/N? The angel?” The man asked, and with the sentence he asked, Y/N knew she was able to reach her family from this world.
“Dad, yes it’s me! Oh my, how are you? Are you ok?” Y/N said as she felt tears prick her eyes. She heard her father start to sob before someone else spoke up.
“Y/N, baby, is it really you? Where are you? We’ve been looking everywhere for you,” Y/N heard her mother question tenderly.
“It’s really me mom, I’m ok, nothings broken,” Y/N chuckled hopefully to lighten the sap reunion. Y/N heard her father chuckle and her sister sob-laugh.
“Where are you baby? When we tried looking for you on your phone, it said it was disabled and in New York. Why are you in New York?” Y/N’s mother, Leena, asked her oldest daughter.
“It’s a long story, really,” Y/N nervously laughed. When Y/N went to explain her situation, the tea kettle started making a high whistle sound, letting Y/N know that her hot water was ready to be put into a cup. Y/N told her mother “one second” then prepared her tea. Sticking the raspberry flavored package in the boiling water, Y/N put the kettle in the sink. Walking out from the kitchen into the cafeteria, Y/N sat at one of the tables and proceeded to tell her long story.
When she was done explaining her wild story, her family was quiet on the other end. Not long after, Y/N heard her father and mother start to whisper back and forth urgently. Whatever they were talking about, sounded like to Y/N they knew why she was taken.
Eventually, her mother explained that they knew this would happen, just not so soon. Then her father spoke up, also explaining that she was there on purpose. He explained that ever since their family became angels, there would be a time one of them would be taken to another dimension to help out with their crisis. Her parents explained they knew it would be her because when she was little, her wings weren’t white, but a gold hue, an indication to start the prophecy.
“Remember that book we would read to you and your sister at night?” her father asked her, which she replied with a yes. She remembered the story her father would read to her and her sister at night.
The story told of a little girl, being raised by angels who blessed her with wings of her own. Though, since she wasn’t a pure angel, her wings were a gold hue. Y/N remembered her mother would always add in that the angels that adopted her were madly in love, approved by God. The story continued with the little girl growing up to heal any disease with the touch of her hands.
The story was her favorite when she was younger. The story was actually the story that inspired her to create MERCI.
“Yeah, I remember that story, what does that have to do with me?” Y/N questioned as she took a sip of her drink, glancing up making sure no one walked in on her conversation with her parents.
“Well. When you were born, we were gifted a book from an anonymous person. Their handwriting was so elegant, far from anything we’ve seen. The book described what you looked like perfectly, so we knew that you were a prophecy. We taught you how to hide your true wings with magic, but of course since you were young, you didn’t grow into it. It’s why you’re able to grow so big, and your wings are actually gold instead of white. The story told us that you would be taken by spikes when you were old enough and would be taken to a world that needed a cure. A different dimension. That you would join a military operating group to help stop the parasite that plagued their world. And once you were done helping them rid of the parasite, that you would rebuild what was broken. That’s why when you were younger, we taught you how to shoot guns, and practice what they know, because we knew you would, at some point, be taken from us to help others,” Her mother explained while Y/N stared at the doors, and listened to her mother speak.
There was a long, silent, eerie pause. Nothing sounded in Y/N’s ears except a faint ringing. The ringing grew louder and louder until it deafened her. She didn’t hear how her mother continued to talk or noticed that one of the operators walked in the cafeteria. The ringing in her ears continued to happen until a deep, loud voice spoke out to her.
“Y/N,” the voice started, rumbling in her ears. “The gifts I’ve given you aren't limited. You’re needed here, something I failed to give them. But fear not, for it is all planned. You have a gift that no one has ever been given,” the voice continued to speak to her. Vigil, the operator that walked in, noticed Y/N and the phone she was holding. Someone was calling out to her, but she didn’t even flinch when they called her name. Vigil also noticed that she didn’t follow his movements when he entered and he noticed her wings. They weren’t white like the others were describing them. They were bright gold, and they were spread out, spreading out two table’s worth of space.
The voice continued in Y/N’s ears, “I have given you the gift of resurrection. You were always gifted it, but I did not want you to use it until the time was right. You will know when to use your gift. For now, prepare and be ready to save those you love.” The voice faded out and the ringing slowly stopped in her ears. Whatever happened left Y/N confused. Was the voice in her head or did someone walk in and speak to her without her knowing. Y/N only heard white noise, like static in her ear until she felt her body go light weight.
Vigil was grabbing something to drink when he heard a soft thud and shouts coming from the phone she provided. Thinking of the worst, Vigil exited the kitchen and looked in Y/N’s direction. Her wings have gone back to their original position, closed behind her back, and her phone dropped on the floor in front of her face. Vigil noticed that she passed out and slight blood came from her hands. There were vertical cuts on her palms with a slight glow of gold coming out of her palm. Reacting quickly, Vigil grabbed rags and secured her hands to stop the bleeding. The people on the phone begged whoever was there to get her to safety. Grabbing the phone, Vigil spoke up.
“I’m an operator for Rainbow. Your daughter passed out and I’m bringing her to our medic. I’ll need you to remain calm, I need to hang up,” Vigil stated to the family on the other line. Y/N’s father told the Korean man it was fine and that he requested their daughter to call them back when she was ok. Vigil ended the call and then picked the angel woman up.
Surprisingly she was light, he expected her to weigh a ton from her wings. Wasting no time in picking her up, Vigil rushed out of the cafeteria and to the medical ward, hoping Doc was awake so he could heal the woman or perhaps explain what was wrong with her.

Pregnancy (I never properly addressed or clarified any of this and would like to apologize for what it was previously listed as. I am avoiding fetishization of anybody who can get pregnant because I have received 2 asks by the same person back in August and as you can tell, I never wrote them because they were offensive fetish prompts centered around stereotypes. There are no exceptions for this one)
Thank you very much for requesting!!

Request Info (Writing, HCs, Prompt Requests)
So I wrote one like over a year ago, but it was too messy for my liking so I’m gonna rewrite it!
Before I get into what I will and won’t do, the requests can take me a while. It all depends on the ship/prompt and motivation. I don’t like putting out things that’ll suck, especially if it’s requested by someone. I hope you understand! And yes requests are always opened, just shoot me an ask or a DM.
Big disclaimer: When it comes to Ghost I will not write him in a way that makes him seem like an asshole for no good reason. I absolutely hate when he’s portrayed like that and personally I think it’s a bad take on the complex character that he is. I’ve dealt with that interpretation for a decade now, I’m tired and i hate it. I will also not write Roach in a way that makes him seem weak. He’s a soldier in an elite group, he’s far from weak.
Fandoms:
Rainbow Six: Siege/ Extraction
Call of Duty - MW series + Reboot & Ghosts
Character’s I will do:
The OG 20 operators - I’m the most comfortable with them.
Mira, Mozzie, Lion, and the majority of the other operators, it’ll just take me a bit longer. I will do Aruni. I know I said I wouldn’t take requests for any NITHAV members, but I like Aruni.
Ghost, Price (both versions), Soap, Roach, Dunn, Gaz (both versions), Alex, Farah, Logan, Hesh, Rorke, Keegan, and Merrick. When it comes to Price and Gaz tell me which version you want or I’ll automatically go to the OG versions.
MW 2019 operators.
Character’s I won’t do: Mainly because I don’t like them or they don’t have a lot to go off of.
Finka, Kali, Ace, and probably like every other NH operator that gets added tbh.
Makarov, Elias Walker, Yuri, Kick.
Ships I will do:
Canon x Canon (F/M, F/F & M/M)
Canon x OC (Just give me a bit of their personality/background and I will do my best to give them justice)
Canon x Reader (Headcanons only, unless given a gender. No neutral readers for right now ‘cause I suck at them and not really a xreader writer.)
Mozzie x Whoever - I know he’s canonically married, but I really don’t mind answering stuff for him and another operator. Same goes for Zofia.
Ships I won’t do:
Tachanka x Anyone who is not Skylar or any of the other Spetsnaz boys. He belongs strictly with Skylar fight me on that.
Ghost x Anyone who is not Liz or Roach. Ghost also belongs strictly with Liz fight me on it.
Incest Ships - Self explanatory.
Rorke x Logan - Y’all had to be freaks and make every single fic a freaking r*pe fic.
Fuze x Ying & Kapkan x Frost - I just don’t like them.
Misc:
I do accept NSFW prompts, however I will not do a/b/o, non-con and dub-con for obvious reason and anything I find offensive or it just not my things.
I won’t do anything regarding enemies to lover or love/hate relationship stuff because I just don’t vibe with them.
If you’re unsure if I’ll write a certain ship, just shoot an ask. When it comes to siege there’s a lot so don’t hesitate to ask.
Speaking of NSFW stuff, I do not care who tops or bottoms, if you want a certain character to do either than just tell me. I really do not care, I have bigger issues to worry about.
Age gap relationships are a-okay (I have plenty of my own). As long as both of the characters are adults than I am more than happy to work on a request.
Angst request are very much welcomed here. I do love writing a bit or a lot of angst.
