RRB NTPC Exam Pattern

Railway Recruitment Boards release RRB NTPC exam pattern along with detailed notification on their official portal. Candidates should check the exam pattern of all stages of RRB NTPC Recruitment before starting the exam preparation. This will help them align their preparation with the NTPC exam requirement.

Before going into the exam pattern, let us discuss some important facts about the RRB NTPC recruitment process. Every year, Railway Recruitment Board invites online applications from eligible candidates for the following Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) posts in Indian Railways:

The selection process of RRB NTPC includes various stages i.e. Computer Based Test (1st Stage), Computer Based Test (2nd Stage), Writing Ability Test/Computer Aptitude Test (as applicable) and Document Verification/Medical Examination.

In this article, we have shared the detailed RRB NTPC Exam Pattern for all stages of recruitment for the reference of aspirants.

RRB NTPC Selection Criteria for Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT)

RRB NTPC CBAT round will be held only for candidates who applied for Traffic Assistant and Station Master. Candidates will be shortlisted for 8 times the number of vacancies in the category.

Candidate will be shortlisted for CBAT on the basis of marks obtained in second stage of CBT who applied for the post of SM/TA.

Candidates must clear each of the test batteries from CBAT to be considered for the post of SM/TA.

CBAT paper carrier will be in English and Hindi only and there will be no negative marking in this round.

SM/TA merit list will be prepared only for the candidates who qualify in CBAT with 70% weightage of marks secured in second stage CBT and 30% weightage of marks obtained in CBAT.

Applicants will need to obtain at least a T-score of 42 points in each of the test batteries to be declared qualified. Also, this applies to all categories of candidates and no relaxation of the minimum T-score is allowed.

RRB NTPC Writing Skill Test (TST) Paper Pattern

Writing skill test is conducted for the posts of Senior Clerk with Typist, Junior Clerk with Typist, Junior Assistant Accountant with Typist, Senior Timekeeper, Accountant with Typist and Junior Timekeeper.

RRB NTPC Typing Skill Test will be of qualifying nature.

In the typing test, candidates will be asked to type at 30 words per minute (WPM) in English or 25 WPM in Hindi only on a personal computer without editing and spell checking tools.

Candidates appearing for the typing skill test in Kruti Dev, Hindi and Mangal will have the script displayed on their personal computers during the test.

RRB NTPC Document Verification 

Candidates who qualify CBT Level 2 and CBAT/TST (as applicable) will be shortlisted for document verification.

The final appointment of the selected candidates will be based on the qualification of the candidate in the required medical fitness test and final verification of the educational and community certificates and antecedents/character of the candidates.

Candidates will have to carry the following documents in original/ to be considered in the final merit list of RRB NTPC.

Matriculation/secondary school leaving certificate or equivalent

+2 / Inter / Higher Secondary/PUC/Equivalent Certificate

University degree

Caste certificate if applicable

Proof of income, if any

Original release sheet for ex-services

Self-certification from transgender candidate

Death certificate of husband for widow candidates
