India's T20 World Cup Triumph 2024
"Dhoni finishes off in style, It's India who win the World Cup." These lines said by Ravi Shastri had gone old with respect to India's World Cup Trophy drought. The most dominating team in bilateral series could not win an ICC Trophy and this was the biggest disappointment for ICT fans. After losing the 2023 world cup final, the first thought which came into my mind was that most probably 2024 t20 wc would be the last world cup Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will play together. So, this was their only chance for a world cup glory and they did not gave us a feeling of dismay, sadness and disappointment but an year full of cherishing memories, joy and happiness
India won the T20 World Cup 2024 happening in the USA and West Indies. They became the only team to win a world cup staying unbeaten. Their journey to the final was a happening one from the high pressure game against or the game against Australia. Especially, the game against Pakistan was a sheer representation of the evolution of Indian team's pace battery in the last decade. From 98 percentage of winning the match with Pakistan our pace battery broke their dreams of winning a game against India as they took the game from them in the last 10 overs. From the first game to the last one, India never looked a under confident or worn out team as they dominated everybody they faced badly. One such win was against Australia in the Super Eight which was personal for every Indian citizen ( If you know what I am talking about). Rohit's knock in that game was the indication of the frustration he had in himself after every knockout loss in every world cup in the last 5-6 years with more respect to 19th November. Then comes the Semifinal against England and that transition from 10 wicket win to 10 wickets out was outstanding. The game was one sided as soon as England completed their powerplay during the batting stint. Every cricket in the team was hungry of that silverware. So, they never looked back to the losses they had been facing but focused on their race to the unmatched legacy of winning a World Cup Trophy. The final was the best which could happen in an ICC tournament. It was not a cricket match a display of every emotion one can imagine in a game of cricket. India set a target of 177 and defend for India seemed easy until Klaseen smashed 24 runs in the 15th over and his team needed just 30 of 30 balls. India's pace attack pulled off a blinder from that stage by first Bumrah giving an economical over and then Hardik took the wicket of Klaseen to shift the momentum of the game on his side. The hidden hero was Arshdeep Singh who also pulled of two brilliant overs at the right - one in the middle and the other in the death. Last over consisted of South Africa requiring 16 runs and Hardik had to defend them. The first ball was a full toss indicating the pressure Hardik had with respect to his last 6 months. Miller swung his bat so hard but could not get the middle and it was the sticker that touched his bat but it was enough to go to the boundary but not above it as Suryakumar Yadav caught the ball and fancied India's chances to get the silverware.
Virat Kohli was in tears and Rohit Sharma lied down to celebrate their undermining hard work in the last decade and the last time in this format. The pair decided to announce their retirement from T20I's together after getting their hands on the silverware. Looking back to their world cup triumph I see a roller coaster ride filled with emotions of joy, happiness and satisfaction. The trophy weighing 12kg which they lifted had made 1.3 billion people happy back home which they expressed through lighting firecrackers and doing individual parades. India became the first cricket team to win a T20I world cup unbeaten displaying their want to get hands on the trophy badly and they gave everything for it. We also gave everything for it and got the result back paying the debt of our worshipping to the team from the last 17 freaking years.
Ravi Shastri's lines were replaced by the ones - Long on, Long On and what a catch, Suryakumar takes it and Miller's gone !!!!!!!!

#Rohit Sharma Dismisses T20 World Cup 2024 Selection Rumors As 'Fake'; Denying Reports Of Key Meeting With Rahul Dravid, Ajit Agarkar | Cricket News #TATAIPL #IPL24
#IPL24 # In a surprising turn of events, Indian cricket team captain Rohit Sharma has dismissed recent reports of a high-level meeting to discuss the country’s T20 World Cup squad as nothing more than fabricated rumours. Speaking on the Club Prairie Fire podcast, the seasoned opener categorically stated that no such meeting took place between him, head coach Rahul Dravid, and chief selector Ajit…

Till then continue..BCCI is another proposal for Rahul Dravid Repoted News..
Tumblr media
With Rahul Dravid's tenure as the head coach of Team India coming to an end with the World Cup 2023, it is interesting to see who will take over the duties next. As Dravid is not willing to extend the contract, there are speculations that BCCI is thinking of hiring a new coach. But recently, it seems that BCCI has approached Dravid once again. At least till the T20 World Cup, he wanted to take charge as the head coach of the team. If Dravid accepts this offer, there is a possibility that the support staff will continue with him till the ODI World Cup. But 'ESPN Cricinfo' report says that no response has been received from Dravid yet. If there is no positive response from Dravid, it seems that VVS Laxman, who is currently the chief of NCA (National Cricket Academy), will be given the responsibility of coach.

Former stars advise the Inclusion of these players, as Rahul Dravid admits to the long-tail problem of Team India
In T20 cricket, the Indian cricket team is still battling the long-tail problem. Even the head coach of Team India, Rahul Dravid, admitted that there is a shortage of all-rounders in the team. In the 5th T20 between India and the West Indies cricket team, Tilak Varma even bowled and cooked the wicket of Nicholas Pooran. Although Varma and Yashasvi Jaiswal have been backed to bowl more often by the Indian team management, even former cricketers are backing this approach by the Indian team.
Tumblr media
Former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra said that Team India should push batsmen who can bowl and give youngsters like Yashasvi Jaiswal and Tilak Varma a long rope and encouragement to bowl as often as possible. He also called for spin-bowling all-rounder Washington Sundar to become a part of India's scheme of things in the T20I format.
Chopra said in a tweet on X, Considering that most of the current Indian batters don't bowl even a couple of overs, the Indian team must start pushing for batters who do. Yashasvi-Tilak should be given a longer rope and encouraged to bowl as often as possible. Washington has to be in India's T20 scheme of things too."

Thoughts on Ishan :
(and ict in general)
1. When he opted out of India's test squad before our series with S. Africa....I knew... I KNEW it will be a long time before we'll get to see him playing for India again.
And then few weeks later Rahul Dravid said in a press conference... He can come back... Just play domestic.... My heart sank.
Here's the thing, I don't blame him at all for taking a break due to mental fatigue.
I fully support his decision as well. He prioritised himself and that's good.
But my dude... If I was your friend, if I was there with you... I wouldn't have let you go.
I would have grabbed his trousers and refused to let go. This is team India. You take one step back and 10 other people are standing right behind you ready to take your place.
Shubhman gill was hyped up so much... Remember his 126 in 63 balls against New Zealand?
But he faltered.
And Today he's in reserve.
Jaiswal is going to be our new opener in all 3 formats very soon. And there's nothing wrong with that. The guy earned it.
Ishan left the South Africa Series and a month later during the india Vs England test Series Jurel was picked and he did an excellent job.
Now imagine... Imagine if Ishan was there instead... If ishan had scored those 90 runs.....he would have made his place permanent.
I'll repeat myself.... I don't blame him for leaving... But he should have thought this through. Especially when a guy like Rahul Dravid is your coach.
(he's the same guy who gave declaration during a test match when Sachin Tendulkar was about to score a century. He's not as innocent as he looks.)
Another thing which really hurts me is how so many people complain about him being benched and then dropped but Yaar....there are tons of players who have gone through this.
Even Ashwin was benched. He said in an interview that when his team would win he wouldn't even feel like going in the ground to congratulate them coz of how hurt he felt.
It happens.
.
.
.
Anyways My overall opinion on this drama is :
1. I support him for leaving.
2. But I hate that he left.
3. A block of ice would be a better coach than Rahul Dravid.
Anyways... Jo hogaya so hogaya.
What I want now is for him to focus on his future.
And He can start by leaving Mumbai Indians.
MI was the team who would pick young players, groom and invest in them and make them capable enough for team India.
The MI we have seen this year is no longer that team. It doesn't matter how many reels their insta page puts out, the atmosphere of that team is tense, awkward and a hot mess.
If Mumbai really cared about a future captain as they claimed.... They should have made Ishan their new captain...like how csk and gt did with ruturaj and gill.
But oh well.
Right now... The best he can do is keep himself fit, play domestic and leave MI at THE EARLIEST.
That team, it's atmosphere, the mismanagement and inner conflicts (believe me, they exist) will not help him at all.
Imo, he doesn't need a team to grow. He has developed a good skill set. What he needs now is a stage.
A team like Kkr, RR or Gt will be great for that because these teams don't drop Their players after 1 or 2 matches... Have good coaches, stable environment and a good atmosphere overall.
Ishan is an excellent wicket keeper + batsman and the type of cricket he plays is best suited for t20 format (one day and test also but especially t20).
Whether we win or lose this t20 world cup... This one is the last one for our senior players.
After that, our youngsters will take charge (at least they should).
Yashasvi and Abhishek should be our openers.
Gill, rutu and Riyan would perfect be for middle order.
Ishan, with his explosive batting style, would be the perfect finisher.
Also... This dumb culture of batters not learning bowling (encouraged by this stupid impact rule) that has developed in the Indian team needs to STOP.
Look at Australia and New Zealand's t20 squad. Look at how many all rounders they have.
Look at ours. We won the 2007 cup because of all rounders as well.
Also... We cage our players. We hold them back. A player like Travis head is playing with such ferocity because his style and mindset is supported by his captain, his team and his media.
Meanwhile... If an Indian player attempts to do the same and doesn't make a big score in 2 -3 matches... He'll be benched instantly.
Another thing... If we look up the stats of our players in this year's t20 wc squad...
Except virat, Bumrah and maybe kuldeep ...everyone else is on ram bharose.
When players like n. reddy, ishan, rutu, gill, Riyan, natrajan... will be groomed and given enough opportunities....their aggressive style will be supported instead of criticized.... that's when we will win trophies.

I fail to understand exclusion of Ashwin: Sachin Tendulkar | Cricket News
NEW DELHI: Despite the Australian line-up comprising five left-handers batters, premier off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin was not picked in the India XI for the World Test Championship final as coach Rahul Dravid defended the decision saying that overcast conditions forced the team to pick a fourth specialist seamer. Legendary Sachin Tendulkar however found Ashwin’s exclusion baffling, pointing out…

[ad_1] Virat Kohli for team India and Carlos Braithwaite for West Indies at the Eden Gardens (PC: ICC) Everytime I walk into Eden Gardens, I feel enthralled. Is it because of the fact that my city has such a historic & iconic cricket stadium? Is it because whenever I start walking around the stadium, the Gavaskars, Imrans, Sachins, Souravs & Rohits start talking to me? Emotions kept aside, I think one of the main reasons for my excitement is because of the matches Eden Gardens has gifted us over the years. I know, when I speak of The Eden, the first things that come to mind must be that famous follow-on featuring VVS Laxman and Rahul Dravid or the Hero Cup final where Sachin Tendulkar (for a change) bowled India to a famous win or the cursed World Cup semi-final between India and Sri Lanka or Rohit Sharma’s swashbuckling 264. But this ground has given us some brilliant T20 matches as well. Let’s take a trip down memory lane ahead of the first T20I between India & England. The rain and the Kohli masterclass. India vs Pakistan. Blockbuster, everytime. Eden Gardens acted as the perfect box office as the two teams went head-to-head in a Super 10 T20 World Cup match on 19th March, 2016. Rain interrupted proceedings early. Due to the world class drainage facility at Eden (courtesy then CAB secretary, Sourav Ganguly) the ground was ready in a flash. However, overs were reduced to 18. On a turner, Pakistan limped and struggled to 118 in their 18 overs. The spinners conceded only 36 runs in their 8 overs, less than 5 an over, validating MS Dhoni’s team selection. 118 suddenly looked 200 plus when India was reduced to 23-3 in just 4.4 overs. Left arm seamers have always troubled India. The peak Mohammad Amir breathed fire by getting the peak Rohit Sharma and conceded just 11 in his 3 overs. Mohammad Sami proved why experience is considered an asset in crucial matches by chipping out Shikhar Dhawan and Suresh Raina. Yuvraj Singh joined hands with Virat Kohli in the middle. And then came the masterclass from the chase master. Kohli batted on a completely different track it seemed. Everything hit the middle of his bat. Starting watchfully, Kohli enthralled the packed Eden crowd by unfurling an array of exquisite strokes as Pakistan had no answers to one of the modern day’s greatest batters. After reaching his fifty, Kohli raised his bat & probably a silent toast to his idol, the great Sachin Tendulkar in the crowd. Tendulkar stood up, appreciated as the whole world took note of a worthy successor to the throne. The circle was completed in the 2023 World Cup, 7 years later, when Kohli repeated the celebration after reaching his 50th ODI hundred at the Wankhede in Mumbai. Kohli turned that tricky, nerve-wrecking chase into a cakewalk in the end. India marched home with 13 balls to spare. For the Latest Sports News: Click Here Carlos Braithwaite madness at the Eden Gardens (PC: ICC) Carlos Brathwaite – Remember The Name! The iconic Eden Gardens had the privilege of hosting the T20 World Cup final in the same year. India bowed out to West Indies in the semi-final despite another Virat Kohli special. West Indies and England faced each other in the World Cup final. It was an encounter for the ages. England managed to get 155 while batting first, thanks to the two J’s, Joe Root & Jos Buttler. The magic of Root continued with the ball as he got rid of both the openers, Johnson Charles & Chris Gayle in his opening over, only the second over of the West Indies innings. West Indies played a more or less catch-up game from there on. Marlon Samuels settled down and played the perfect anchor but it was just not enough. Something had to give. England captain Morgan turned to his trusted ally, Ben Stokes to bowl the final over of the match. On strike was Carlos Brathwaite who had faced only 6 balls till then. West Indies needed 19 off the last over to lift another World Cup. England needed to do what they had done for the rest of the match. What followed next has been etched in the minds of the cricket lovers & the history books forever.
Brathwaite smashed four gigantic sixes off the first four balls to seal the World Cup for the Windies. The crowd went euphoric, Ben Stokes had his hands on knees, his face covered as the mighty Ian Bishop roared from the commentary box – ‘Carlos Brathwaite, Carlos Brathwaite! Remember the name! History for the West Indies!’ The Windies captain Darren Sammy later mentioned in the post match presentations how difficult it has been for them all along this tournament. The team came to India almost bankrupt, having no support from their cricket board whatsoever and this win was special, for reasons more than just one. The cricketing gods smiled as West Indies reclaimed the cricketing throne that night. Funny, how life and cricket both turn a full circle very quickly. Fast-forward to the 2019 World Cup final, Stokes was the centre of attention yet again as England lifted the World Cup under captain Eoin Morgan. The crestfallen Stokes to the triumphant Stokes – world cricket saw it all. Eden Gardens has always been historic & it is only fitting that the new-look T20 Indian side starts their dress rehearsal for the 2026 T20 World Cup today from Indian cricket’s Mecca itself. Ravindra Jadeja is angry at the unfair treatment of Ishan Kishan
With the Board of Control for Cricket in India preparing a contract extension for head coach Rahul Dravid after the ICC World Cup 2023, the chief of the National Cricket Academy and batting icon VVS Laxman coached a second-string Indian side for the entire five-match T20I series against Australia. Under the leadership of new captain Suryakumar Yadav, a second-string India side defeated Australia 4-1 in the bilateral series.
Tumblr media
Superstar Shreyas Iyer, who was rested for the first three T20Is, joined the Indian squad as Suryakumar's deputy for the final two encounters against Australia. While Iyer was roped in as the No. 3 batter for the 4th and 5th T20I, India decided to release Ishan Kishan from its playing XI after the third encounter of the five-game series. When Ravindra Jadeja got asked, “Was Kishan really that tired after three matches?’ Jaddu said, “There was a series right after the World Cup. Ishan Kishan played three matches and went home.
Was he really that tired after three matches that he needed rest? He didn't even play a lot of games at the World Cup. He deserved his spot in the playing XI for the first few World Cup matches. How many Indian players have scored a double century on a good day? He can change the game on his own. When will he get ready? Will you keep him on trial all the time? In the last two years, how many games has he played? This problem of Indian cricket is not of today; it is very old that we don’t select players but reject them.”
