About

Tai is a renegade environmentalist and anti-slave activist from The Verrean-Qelur Alliance. Prior to joining the Jade Owls, she and her adoptive Qelur brother, Rahkar would travel the seas freeing slaves and disrupting trading ships. Through unusual circumstances she has become a member of The Jade Owls and is currently the Falaina's botanist, caring for the plants and herbs aboard the ship’s greenhouse. She is in an open relationship with Haerile.

Personality

Russell describes Tai in his poems and journal entries as the very embodiment of insanity. She is outgoing, optimistic, loving, and ditzy, but also very immature, disrespectful, easily distracted, and very open about inappropriate matters. She can also be somewhat lazy and disrespectful though she appears oblivious to this fact.

Miscellaneous

Tai speaks with an accent which, to Human ears, sounds like a combination of Indian English with Polynesian.

Tai has the power of Botanokinesis. She can control plant life, move trees, encourage plants to grow, manipulate vines, manipulate carbon and oxygen, and even camouflage herself.

She is one of the youngest members of the crew along with Russell and Ash.

Like all Verreans and Qelurs, Tai can transform into a tree, but only does so when she needs to regenerate from illness. Transforming into the actual tree is no sweat and doesn’t take that long, but changing back can take a long time and can be very painful and tiring. She can however turn some of her limbs (i.e. her arms) into roots which she uses as a weapon, and it takes 45 minutes to an hour for her arms to regenerate.

As she is a plant lifeform, when the sun goes down, so does she. At night she becomes extremely sleepy.

Like Rahkar, Tai practices Pahenti and Rahkar listed her as his assistant for ceremonies, so she is kind of like an assistant shamaness.

Tai is a naturist 100% she doesn’t like to wear clothes at all but only does so because the other members of the crew find her nudist tendencies very inappropriate, except for Ash and Rahkar. To the Verreans, Qelurs, and Opar-Han nudity does not equal eroticism and she gets into multiple arguments with the crew because of this.

Tai is secretly a fan-fiction writer and loves writing fan-fiction about herself and Haerile, as well as Ash and Russell, and Chaat and Kasai, and Suri and Lellain. These stories can be funny, heartwarming, others can be needlessly inappropriate, especially when writing about Russell and Ash. She loves those two, they are like the perfect couple to her and wishes she and Haerile could have a relationship like them.

She enjoys teaming up with Lellain in playing pranks on her teammates.

Rahkar’s family, the Euchikuns, adopted Tai when her father had too many children and couldn’t care for her. He didn’t want to give her up, but her father tended to…not be monogamous, and it is usually the males’ jobs to take care of the children. He had too many babies for him to hold, so he sent them to other families and Tai got sent to Rahkar’s family, though she kept her last name.
