So if I got all this right, all these will become that armor piece. I didn't originally mean to do all my dye work last night, but one dye test turned into two buckets turned into covering my bathroom in strips of drying fabric to be woven this weekend! They're all from an old threadbare sheet I had, so the cotton's super thin and soft and takes the dye quickly, and I have a tooooon left undyed still, even with the other pieces I dyed navy blue that are still drying in the bathroom! My last two machine needless broke trying to hem the cloak thing, but once that's done and the pants are sewn up, then the armor is really the only piece left to make, beyond wrappings and accessories, and because the con has stupid weapons rules I'm making a paper katana for her. Fingers crossed I can get her all completed in time for #lbcc next weekend! How to Weave with a Heddle Loom?

I have so many questions. I’ve been watching videos because I’ve wanted a loom since I was a kid, and I think it’s time I finally put in for one. But... where do I start? I really hate those kid-sized looms that I can make with cardboard. I think I want to start with a heddle loom, but I tend to use very lightweight yarns or threads so is there a better kind of beginner’s loom for that? Sockweight is probably the thickest I would use for warp threads. I am looking to make my own summer obi (Japanese traditional clothing), which are made from hemp or other fibres. I really don’t like the modern synthetic feel, and it can melt if I accidentally get it too hot in Florida, so I want to start with cotton and work my way to hemp. I may do ragweave sakiori or more dense wool later, when I’m more experienced. Advice?

Well, I stayed up way too late again and my shoulders were aching by the time I got done tieing it off, but the back panel is done now!
