hiiii rage! in scary dog privilege, you mentioned eren was already into reader in college- why did he wait so long to let his feelings out? did he ever come close to crossing the line before the night of the party?

sorry i just got around to this! so my thoughts are as follows:

firstly i think it was just the typical “i’m scared to let this person know how i feel bc what if i lose them?”/“am i good enough for this person who i’ve loved platonically for a long time?” and the general squeamishness of not knowing for certain that your feelings are returned. not to mention reader had jean around for awhile…..also i picture eren just not being super emotionally aware and while he knew he wanted to fuck reader in college idk if he realized he actually had feelings for her til later. i imagine her dating jean sort of snapped it into place for him? it’s mentioned that he’s sort of a fuck boy so i think esp in his college era the “sex” and “emotion” parts of his brain are miles away from each other lolol

secondly i def think he’s subtle when they’re alone…….like it’ll cross his mind for sure but he doesn’t necessarily act on it. i imagine they’re very touchy. he’s always got her feet in his lap and plays with her hair and lets her pop his zits lol i think he’s really interested in the more intimate touches than the sexual when they’re alone bc that’s what’s new and exciting for him.

sdp is supposed to be like he …. got fed up and snapped, ykwim? and reader did too, ofc, but i think eren’s fantasies about them getting together were a lot…mushier and more romantic than it turned out even if it was hot hahahaha i def think he feels conflicted ab the way it played out when it happens….
