The Reddit Situation, a.k.a. Great Googly Moogly It's All Going to Shit!™
Honestly, at this point, I'm mostly just pissed off at all of the information that's most likely permanently lost and all of the art that people who only used Reddit won't be able to recover. r/Warframe and its other associated subreddits have gone perma-private, and from what I've seen from lurking on the dormi.zone Lemmy instance there's been a bunch of backlash to migrating any of the information from the subreddit to the instance (or even on the wiki or forum) due to wanting it to "grow naturally". r/GuiltyGear seems to also have gone perma-dark with no signs of coming back... I feel worried for quupie. I hope they found another site outside of Reddit and Ko-Fi to post to, because the GG subreddit going private basically nuked their Reddit account.
And all of the alternatives people keep shoving in my face immediately turn me off. Raddle.me doesn't really have any of the specific communities I'm interested in (and it needs mods to make communities), Tildes.net is invite-only, Squabbles.io reminds me way too much of Twitter's interface which I find unusable, and I cannot wrap my mind around the clunky "you need to make individual accounts for each facet and if the instance you made your account on dies your account dies too" structure and constant infighting of the "Fediverse" (Mastodon, Lemmy, Beehaw, Kbin honestly seems the most tolerable of the lot but I just need to wait and see).
It's an enfuckening and it sucks.

raddle.me: a site run by anarchists for anarchists. The only social media site with an antibigotry tos.
twitter: currently owned by techbro pissman
tumblr: actively removing functionality and bloating the interface with things nobody uses
discord: being retooled by ex-Meta management who don't understand the appeal of the platform
youtube: neutered by advertisers and algorithms and also tiktokification
reddit: half of the site is down due to protests about the outrageous monetization of third-party API support
facebook: my mom is on there

hey fellow canadian! what do you know about security in popular canadian chains (ardene, aritzia, garage)
Heyy! I was thinking of making a masterlist of what I know about different stores, but I'm too lazy so I'll just answer this for now ;D
Aritzïà: never l!fted from there, although I remember reading somewhere that they have magnet detectors so b very careful
Ardènés: again, never lïfted from there, although I'm pretty sure they don't tag much and tbh seems pretty easy
Gàrâge: they tag fucking everything. Even scrunchies and underwear. If you own a hook/magnet though, I'm sure u could get away with taking stuff in the dressing room. They count on the way in, but on the way out no one rly cares
Hûdśons Báy: only like 70% of their clothes have hard tags. CHECK TAGS FOR RFIDS especially brand name things. Don't try anything around the makeup/perfume area. It varies by store I'm sure, but usually there's no one monitoring fitting rooms. You can just walk in and take an empty one and do yo stuff in there.
Làsenža: nothing is tagged. Fun times, right? But employees are pretty attentive so be careful. If you load up a bag with underwear and stuff, they won't let u take it in the dressing room, and say ur only allowed 6 items at a time. BUT, if you just have a couple bras and look innocent, they won't bother counting. It depends.
Là vie èn rosè: my store has 0 cameras, but take that with a grain of salt becos it varies with location. Underwear and bathing suits are untagged, but bras and pajamas are tagged. I can't say much about fitting rooms because I normally just conceal on floor lol
Shöppers Drûg Màrt: they put sticky silver beep beep tags on some makeup. They are real and will set off alarms, so double check stuff for that. Cameras are usually sparse, and since the shelves are tall there's hella blind spots. If the employees seem chill and aren't staring daggers at u then they won't bother u.
Those are all the Canadian stores I can think of off the top of my head?? I hope this helped in some way lol. Imma also leave a link to an ultimate masterlist of stores and their security
https://raddle.me/wiki/shopliftingml
Good luck! Feel free to hmu if u have any questions <3

Everyone knows about the master list right?
Just in case some don't, it has security details on most stores, including camera info and tagging frequency. I always read this over for the stores I'm gonna hit just in case :)

looks like @antifainternational got banned? strange, they're not even one of the more radical antifa blogs on here. anyway, it's always a good time for me to mention some other platforms i like/use:
raddle.me - a leftist Reddit-style site
PeerTube - decentralized, federated p2p video hosting platform
Mastodon - decentralized, federated p2p Twitter-style microblogging service
Tixati - torrent program that also offers decentralized p2p forums, chatrooms, and video/audio streams
Fopnu - decentralized p2p file sharing from the developers of Tixati, also includes chat functionality
remember: capitalists will always have an incentive to crack down on leftist communication and organization. don't rely on their platforms and services.
(that includes ISPs, and if any of you out there have some good resources on shit like meshnets and other forms of rogue telecommunications, or just other leftist-friendly sites and services, please feel free to add it to this post)
