The motto was to like her site and talk to her, because it was obvious to me that there was something more to come from her. The fact that this only lasted for a short day really blew my mind, because Rachel released her new single "Weaver Bird" today, 7 October 22, that means one day later. When I heard the track, it knocked me out for the second time. It's a melancholic, sad track that can easily hold its own next to Nick Cave or the great Margo Timmins from The Cowboy Junkies. And Rachel is a gifted songwriter, her lyrics are incredibly moving and hit deep into the soul, but Rachel also reaches out to you and doesn't let you wither away in the emotional hole. Again, a comparison with Margo Timmins and Nick Cave is more than apt. With her lyrics Rachel has shaken me for the third time: "Weaver bird weave your melody From the Branch of a sycamore tree For at last, now I see The Weaver Bird I am she I'm not lost, for I am free My life belongs Just to me" Rachel, this is so awesome and straight to the point. Once you've listened to Rachel's singles, you know where she belongs: right next to Hannah Reid from London Grammar and Ellie Rowsell from Wolf Alice.
