LATAM’s historic start and NiP’s surprising loss headline first day of Rainbow Six Copenhagen Major
Tumblr media
A lot of focus has shifted to some of the lesser regions in the Rainbow Six esports circuit since the Rainbow Six Copenhagen Major began today. The newly united nations of Asia, Japan, and Korea all made their entrances onto the international scene, but it was LATAM's representatives that made the largest impression. Previously no Mexican or Argentinian majority lineup had beaten any professional team outside of their region since October 2021. Now with LATAM being offered two direct qualification spots to the Six Major, we finally got to see them on a global stage for the first time in Rainbow Six esports history today. The representatives in question were Six Karma, a Mexican majority roster with two Argentinian players, and REVEN ECLUB, a British, French, and American team that had moved to Mexico specifically to compete in the LATAM League. Both of these teams defied expectations with very strong early victories. REVEN ECLUB faced Japan’s NORTHEPTION to open the tournament. Despite including one of Japan’s most exciting new players, Nina, NORTHEPTION were unable to perform as they fell apart while moving onto the attack on Oregon. Five round losses in a row gave the game to the British-majority LATAM League team in a 7-3 scoreline. Two hours later, Six Karma played what was a much more difficult opponent on paper, Ninjas in Pyjamas. NiP’s core roster previously won the Six Invitational in 2021 and were runners-up in 2020 as well as at the Rainbow Six Sweden Major. They are arguably Brazil’s most successful team and a massive obstacle in Six Karma’s way. Nevertheless, on Club House another 7-3 result went LATAM’s way to end an 18-month dry spell for the region against Brazil. This meant day one ended with both LATAM League rosters winning their games and now being a single map away from the playoff stage of the tournament. REVEN ECLUB will face Soniqs on Wednesday, April 26, at 6am CT, while Six Karma faces Spacestation Gaming, another Six Invitational-winning organization, an hour later. Should either team lose, they will rematch today’s opponents in the lower bracket final. https://twitter.com/R6esports/status/1650584357453570064 While good news for LATAM fans, it was unexpected for many Brazilian viewers who are used to their teams easily dispatching LATAM opponents. In a post-game interview after NiP’s subsequent victory over Elevate, Gabriel “pino” Fernandes commended Six Karma stating they “evolved a lot with the new lineup” and put their loss down to a lack of confidence due to the best-of-one map format. Ninjas in Pyjamas will next face either Spacestation Gaming or Six Karma in the lower bracket final in another best-of-three, as they may have a chance to avenge their defeat. The Rainbow Six Copenhagen Major will resume tomorrow, April 25, at 6am CDT with w7m esports vs. Team Bliss as Brazil’s second and Oceania’s only representative enter the competition. So i barely follow the siege community here on tumblr, let alone on twitter or reddit. But i was wondering what happened/is happening over there? I mean only if you want to talk about it and are willing to share. Tbh i know how toxic and awful the siege community is, so maybe no explanation is even needed :( but i hope you are ok!
After that rant post I wasnt going to say or post anything cause honestly, I was legit tired. But today I saw people were still tweeting in the hashtag, and it's been more than 48 hours without Ubisoft responding or making any statement.
This isn't about toxicity, it's about ubisoft supporting racists and islamophobs. I've wrote everything that happened in the past 3 days, with evidence screeshots, tweets and a video you MUST watch.
TW // ISLAMOPHOBIA, RACISM, STEREOTYPING. Please take caution and read carefully.
ps. i'm as okay as i can be, as i get extremely tilted when i hear or think about this shit which is like every 10 minutes.
to get the gist of it; on Sunday SIEGE.GG announced that they will hold a Rainbow Six Major in the UAE (United Arab Emirates, the country I live in). When the Arabic community learned about this, we were so happy that finally the MENA pro players will get some spot light in the Esport scene that many arabic pro players deserve, truly we have some great talents.
but some butthead ignorant racist (who I shall not name cause they don't deserve any attention), stereotyped the whole country (that means the whole middle eastern area as well) based on old laws and us being Muslims, and made a petition to remove the Major from UAE with a stupid hashtag.
this isn't all, they made a post with text that you can barely read, spreading lies and misinformation based on stereotype like I said above. Those misinformations basically calling us savages and murderers who has absolutely no morals towards human rights. Total and utter stereotyping and racism.
i quote tweeted that tweet saying 'this is some bs and you all are misinformed greatly', why would I say that? cause I was born here and lived my whole life here (still am here too and I could not be happier). I got blocked, with no argument to be held, no debate back and forth, just a block from their pathetic fragile self.
everyone supported this blindly just by reading some article's they've found on the internet without doing deep research.
a mutual of mine, who is also from UAE, quote tweeted trying to debunk those lies and why everything they said was all misinformed, and you guessed it!! she got blocked too :D
images attached;
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
if that's not racism and islampphobia idk what is. truly, you can see the westerners are at their prime.
i was seething, rage could not be contained within me because me and my mutual are the only two who were speaking about this and trying to stop the slander of this country spreading, the country that we love and care about. but my mutual and i's voice were too little to be heard, we were helpless. we could not do anything.
this went on and on with the whole western community demanding Ubisoft to change the location for the August Major. From casters to pro players to content creators that I watched from time to time and admired, to voice actors. everyone participated one way or another by either tweeting some bullshit or liking the bullshit someone else tweeted. every single one fell from my eyes. how the hell did they believe all that? they even made a petition that got 10K signatures. we're Muslims, not savages for god sakes.
two days later, R6Esports made a statement basically saying "yes we hear you western community, even though know UAE is a safe country and we made safety arrangements with Abu Dhabi police and government and everything, but we care about your fragile feelings more than a whole ass community we ignored for most of the time. so we will move it for you boo. love daddy ubi<3 " not the literal words so don't take it seriously but that is how I saw the statement basically.
okay so when I say this triggered it for the MENA community, I don't mean it lightly. some good gaming public figures started to speak about this. they wanted a different place, and they got it but at the cost of losing the whole Middle Eastern community's support and trust. we all felt betrayed by ubisoft.
from online video game retailers to big blue mark Middle Eastern gaming reviewers, all decided to boycott every little and big product from ubisoft themselves until they issue an apology and make an official statement on the stupid stunt. It's been more than 48 hours without any single word other than "We stand with Ukraine".
now you would think this ends here, lol but it doesn't. a youtuber, a content creator, public figure, a racist cuntbag, Islamophobic bastard, made this reply and before he deleted people managed to take screenshots of him basically saying a cultural genocide is in need if you don't support lgbtq. And of course it back fired badly.
Tumblr media
Then tried to justify human genocide with this bullshit.
Tumblr media
literally doesn't take a genius to contact a MENA player to fact check what was spreading as misinformation, it's not rocket science. in the end he did a twitlong apology like any youtuber does and said he 'would step down from representing FNATIC'. after what? hm?
Also watch Pisty, one of the MENA R6S caster, expressing how gutted he felt learning about this whole mess + that cuntbag's stereotyping and being islamophobic and racist.
some example tweets from the MENA gaming community :
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
there area a lot of more quote tweets made by the community both respectful and angry at the decision and the slander the western community has spread about UAE and MENA, I wish i can post more screenshots but tumblr only allows 10 images per post.
a social media public figure who is a child activist FROM THE UAE! had to speak about this! it got that bad!
then we started a petition and it got trending in UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia:
Tumblr media
on top of all this bs, a member of ubisoft's pr team joined a twitter space that was held by one of MENA public figures. who says he's from MENA, but god help if he's not there just to spy on what we say. when siege esport came out, he basically supported them with their decision, mind you this person lived in the UAE for 7 fucking years, but says whatever slander the western community said was right and ubisoft made the better decision. when he joined the space he says he joined as a middle eastern person and not as a ubisoft employee, but all he did was throw some PR shit at us and left cowardly, when one of the people in the space (a MENA pro siege player) caught his misinformation about UAE and proved him wrong multiple times. all the time he was in (which was like most of the time cause others barely had time to speak) he didn't say anything informative, couldn't stick to one topic, jumping from one excuse to another just to rid himself from the anger of middle eastern community, he also kept mentioning that 'if it wasn't for him the MENA servers for siege wouldn't exist'. wow what an absolute angel, he did what needed to be done when the game was fucking launched after 5 years of the game's release. the next day he privated his account. good fucking riddance.
in the end, it was not about esports anymore, it was not about the MENA players having the spotlight anymore, it was not about the major being held in UAE anymore, it was bigger than that. it was about the westerners being ignorant about the Middle Eastern culture and religion, it was about UAE's reputation, dignity and honor.
you'd think stereotyping, racism, and islamophobia would less in THIS community, because they know how discriminating people can be in general. but we were wrong, i'd hate to say it but you guys really think you're the center of the world don't you, the harsh truth is you are not.
conclusion; they've insulted and slandered us in many ways and basically called us murderers, we didn't even say anything to that, or that they chose not to hear it when people tried to fix the misinfo legitimately felt like talking to a wall. they succeeded to move the Major from UAE, basically gate keeping the esport scene from the MENA players. they called our culture and religion "dogshit" and said it "shouldn't exist". many words can fit into that one sentence tweet, but they chose those words.
all of this lies and stereotyping happened out of nowhere when we were just living as a country, we even didn't say or do anything. they heard UAE and their racism and islamophobia activated.
Edit: mind you all of that came from LGBTQ community members and their supporters. You'd think they would know better by now but no they literally dont know jack shit, and they dont bother educating themselves about a topic if it wasnt about their own beliefs or agendas. They call us names, slander us, stereotype us, say islamophobic and racist shit, and when we try to educate them and try to fix their misunderstanding they ignore us and believe what they want to believe. And when ONE person who had enough of this bs, and got triggered by them basically calling us murderers, calls them the F word, we become public's no.1 enemy. But can you blame that person for saying it? What excuse and right, do these people have to spread all those lies that is any better than this person calling you the F word? In any other day I would feel disgusted and ashamed for being associated with that person, but after all that mess unfolding I wouldnt bat an eye, whatever this person says it wouldn't be as bad as them stereotyping us, insulting our culture and promoting cultural genocide.
You people have absolutely no right to be racists and islamophobs, as we as muslims dont have any right to be homophobic. I'm sorry but all of this really shattered my trust and believe in LGBTQ people. I don't think any person who isn't someone i know personally, can change my mind about this community.
this is the end of it all, with still no response from ubisoft or r6sport accounts. and if this thing keeps on going we will boycott ubisoft product in the future as we are doing now.
some informative tweets that can help people understand how things work here;
1. over 50 retweets and 140 likes tweet.
2.a good argument went back and forth but the person asking was a goddamn dumbass.
3.showcase of events that was held/being held/will hold in MENA area from 2020-2022
my opinions? fuck r6s community, their racist casters and content creators, and their over all twitter community cause EVERY single one of them is racist and islamophobic and you cannot change my mind.
the end, thank you for coming to my TED TALK.
