ok so!!! my new object friend!!!!!! they are a pink 3ds xl. ive wanted one ever since i was little (had a ds, dsi, and regular 3ds growing up) and now im an adult with my own money so i bought one. i am trying to decide on a name, im thinking something valentines themed since they arrived to me so close to valentines and they are pink!!! im going to use them to play so much nintendogs (pretty much the only thing i played as a kid, sparking my now special interest in dogs) and finally play through a bunch of pokemon games!!! im very excited to take them everywhere and use streetpass and use them constantly especially for stressful or overwhelming or unpleasant situations. they're way more portable even than the switch lite and the battery should last longer too. i have a clear case for them that im going to put stickers on!!! my boyfriend is at home right now homebrewing them for me and region swapping them bc they're originally a japanese model so they're locked to games in japanese but you can bypass that. and homebrew to do that + im too poor to buy every game i want to play im going to use an r4i card for roms. which should also help to be able to make games more accessible bc i can get romhacks and patches. anyway when i go home tonight i get to play Nintendogs as much as i want (i own uh. 4 or more physical copies.) abd im so so excited. okay thank u for listening im just so excited

if an R4 has a year in it, it has a timebomb 100%. if the date on your DS is set past a certain point, it will just straight up not work (iirc the timebomb on the 2018 carts is during september 2021? 2025 is definitely past it though). the one I used before I lost it was an R4i gold 3DS +, it doesn't have a timebomb and while I had it I didn't have any issues. alternately, TWiLightMenu++ is a free alternative that just needs a hacked console, although compatibility isn't as good

Is Sky3ds+ playing 3ds games on 3DS, NDS and Switch consoles?

Sky3ds+ is only working on Nintendo 3ds system handheld, it can support 3ds games on 3ds, 3ds xl, 2ds, new 3ds xl and new 2ds xl console. But it won't work on Nintendo DS and Switch consoles. Why?

One of the great things about Game BASIC is how easy it makes it to access the Saturn’s peripherals, including the internal backup RAM, external memory cartridges, and even the Saturn Floppy Disk Drive. With a setup like this, you’ll have plenty of space to save your programs and you can use a real keyboard for text entry. You can even start experimenting with different forms of input, like analog controls and light guns! But without access to the tools a PC provides, it will be difficult to make nice-looking sprites, textures, and 3D models. So, this will still limit what you’re capable of. Regardless, this is a great option for the sheer fun factor of “Hey look! I’m programming with my Saturn!” or if you have no ability to connect your Saturn to a PC.

You can even go this route with a Saturn emulator, giving you easy access to improved keyboard, mouse, and storage options. I’ve confirmed that Mednafen successfully emulates Game BASIC and allows for keyboard and mouse pass-through input, meaning you can do a whole lot of Saturn development with very little barrier to entry.

so, i’ve had a PSP for several years and it’s been living in a bookshelf for the last couple.  recently, however, i decided to finally put CFW on it (pro-c) since it’s so insanely easy.  i also grabbed one of those dual micro sd to memory stick duo converters.  it’s been awesome.  no more loading lags for my games. also, emulators!  it’s really nice to have a solid portable way to emulate my favorite 8 and 16 bit games. needless to say, it’s not on a bookshelf anymore.  

this, however, was kind of a gateway to handheld addiction to me.  see, i bought the PSP right around the time the vita came out because it was getting killed off by sony and subsequently mighty cheap.  now, sony is killing off the PS Vita so i figured it’d be an awesome time to grab one, and i was right.  found an OLED Vita for hella cheap, and a ton of really solid games can be found used for hella cheap too because stores like gamestop want to get rid of them. there’s also some big advances for CFW on the Vita that have been going on, but i’m keeping it vanilla for the time being. and, holy shit, the Vita is such an awesome console. i’m super bummed it’s being killed off because the hardware is great and games look stunning on it. also, the game library for it is mighty impressive and has the potential to be incredible if developers would still be, er, developing for it.

then, i started wondering to myself how the 3DS was faring now that the switch is dominating the handheld market.  lo and behold, i found an original 3DS in great shape bundled with a few games (most notable kirby triple deluxe) and some accessories for cheap on the bay of e.  of course, i couldn’t pass that up with my raging handheld addiction happening!  so, yeah, now i have a 3DS also.  naturally, i started wondering about CFW for it, and came across the R4i Gold 3DS Plus Flashcard. hello micro sd storage for DS games and hello super easy CFW install with the use of a magnet! Clones also used the fake firmware for YDC cards though such a scheme was stopped in 2007. This was why the clones such as N5 and others only used decrypted firmware while R4 can still use the encrypted fake firmware. The genuine YDC firmware was even bravely modified by some manufacturers of the clone YDS items so as to be compatible with many other games while others completely scrapped away the YDS firmware to give way to their homebrew loaders like the YSMenu that they have come up with.

These cards are all second generation devices or SLOT-1 solutions that support microSD for storage. They also boast of features such as auto-DLDI patching, Action Replay cheats, Nintendo Wi-Fi connection, and download play. They all support the use of Moonshell media player that is already slated in the main menu of the cards. In August 2007, the cards’ developers decided to take out the spring from the slot where the memory card is to be inserted to solve complaints regarding its malfunction.

The developers decided to halt the production of R4 and the last firmware update was done on April 23, 2008. However, some clone manufacturers continued to use R4’s firmware still.
