OMG OMG i see ur fic abt prof riddle w the mreader n im in loveeee god its so cute 😭😭💖💖💖 have you ever thought when the roles were reversed? Like reader is a wizard that came from the future, he adopt tom from the orphanage n becomes a father to him n he's also the one that stopped tom from kill1ng ppl n shi omgg that would so cute give this man sum parental figure yall he needed it 😔🫶🫶
Adopted - T. R. x platonic male!reader
A/N: thank you so much for the request!! 💛 I’m so glad you like my fic!
This is the first part of a short series I’m planning for this request. It’s completely unedited and barely proofread. There’s no use of Y/N
CW: alternate universe, death mention, lying, manipulation, Reader is from the future, Reader lies to adopt Tom, slight Dumbledore bashing, slight fluff during the middle/end, this is kinda fast-paced sorry
691 words
In another universe, Tom Riddle was introduced to magic by Professor Dumbledore, a cunning old man who saw the evil before he saw the boy.
In another universe, Tom Riddle becomes Lord Voldemort, the most feared Dark Wizard since the old days.
In another universe, a couple dies for their baby, a boy too young to remember anything but his mother’s scream.
This is not that universe.
In this universe, Tom Riddle is introduced to magic by a very unconventional wizard. A man with no friends, odd mannerisms, and a habit of using strange spells.
You.
You appear in Tom’s life exactly half an hour before his fated meeting with Dumbledore.
You hurry up the steps to the orphanage and knock on the doors. They open to reveal a haggard woman with a sharp face. She questions you, and you lie as smoothly as still water.
A few moments later, you’re face to face with the boy.
Because that’s who he is, after all. An eleven year old boy with no friends, odd mannerisms, and a habit of talking to strange snakes.
He looks up at you, half scowling, half nervous. “Who are you?”
The lie rolls off your tongue with ease. “I’m your uncle.”
Tom waits till you get in the cab before asking questions.
“Are you really my uncle?” His expression clearly says he doesn’t believe it, but you can see the flicker of hope in his eyes.
“For all intents and purposes, yes.” You give him a slightly sympathetic look. “But no, I am not your kin.”
Tom wilts a bit. Then tries hard to hide it. “Oh. Okay.”
There’s a brief pause, then his forehead wrinkles. “Who are you, then?”
“You wouldn’t believe me if I told you.”
“Try me,” he challenges.
“I am a wizard,” you say calmly. “Sent back in time after an unfortunate mishap with a Time Turner artifact.”
Tom blinks. Stares. Tilts his head. “You’re… not lying… are you…?”
You give him an odd smile. You had to give it to him, the boy knew how to spot his lies.
“Of course I’m not lying. It’s far too ridiculous for me to have come up with something like that.”
You settle into your seat. “Besides, you’ll understand more once we reach my house.”
Tom, who still seems to be having a hard time digesting your earlier words, just nods quietly. You give him the silence of the car ride to figure his thoughts out. As a courtesy and all.
Tom seems to like your little house. It’s tucked away from the city, in a small village that’s used to your odd antics by now.
It’s quaint and cozy and just big enough for separate rooms for the two of you.
Tom surveys the house, then turns to you. “If you’re a wizard, I want to see your magic.”
You look down at him, amused. You can already tell he has a sharp mind, important for the days to come.
You pull out your wand and cast a simple spell. One that causes pretty blue butterflies to flit about the room.
Tom goes still, eyes wide. One of the butterflies flutters over to him and lands on his nose. He goes cross-eyed trying to look at it and you stifle a laugh.
“Is that proof enough?”
He waves the butterfly off, looking at you in awe. “You really are a wizard…”
You stifle a grin, trying not to seem too proud. “I am. And you are too.”
His eyes go wide. A slow flush creeps up his cheeks, his eyes gleaming with excitement.
“I knew it,” he breathes, “I always knew I was special. Everyone else called me crazy, but I knew.”
You pat his shoulder and smile down at him. “You are special. You’re a wizard, Tom.”
His answering grin is worth all the problems you know are coming.
Dumbledore, especially, will be furious once he finds out.
But you’ve done what you’ve done, and you’re prepared to face the consequences. As far as the wizarding world will be concerned, you really are Tom’s uncle.
And you’re going to keep it that way.

ebug's sister, dm91
part one / part two / part three / part four /
i accidentally deleted this with ctrl z THREE TIMES i was going to have a mental breakdown

liked by dawson1417, edwards.73, and 5,612 others
blakefriarr_: my brother's an ebug, episode four!
i thought my last post was missing something, and i decided it was eyebrows looking horrified at something in front of him, so that’s back. see slide four
from the top, though, slide one is rowdy and merc sitting on the bench. nothing special other than dawson very closely inspecting the blade of his stick
then we have daws in the sin bin repenting for his crimes. they give them little juice boxes like school children!! go to timeout and have your lil drink, it’ll make you less prone to felonies <3. he’s even matching with the zebra, cute!
fifth and not finally, we have dawson, again, looking all cute n shit, to balance things out, obviously, cause this post didn’t have enough of him already.
actually finally, we have me and jj (we’re about to express a light to moderate amount of emotion, babes. viewer direction is advised)
jj let me literally cry on his shoulder last night, and this morning he brought me (i drove, but that’s besides the point cause he initiated it) on an impromptu shopping spree!! some old hag looking bitch at work screamed at me for something that was entirely out of my control and made me cry about seventeen minutes into my eight hour shift yesterday, and twin mode was very activated in him.
he even bought us those dazzling glasses and posed for my photo, AND he stood outside the dressing rooms while i tried clothes on and gave me very crucial information on wether or not i should buy things (one nod for yes, a look of complete disgust for meh, and a dumbass smile for ‘this looks great but i refuse to say it even though we are biologically the same and look almost identical’)
thank you, slightly older brother, for being there for me and listening to me complain about my often overwhelming and underpaid job <3 i love you like 96% of the time

*looks at you like a kid in bed awaiting a bedtime story* what was reddit like…?
Ahh my old home... It was beautiful... Well actually not really it kinda sucked but it was home. After a long day of hard work I would kick back and relax by immediately getting into arguments with conservatives about whether or not I deserve to exist, spending all night moderating every new post made to r/familyguyporn (erm... You broke rule #274, how dare you, permabanned for life), and visiting 30 different subreddits only to see the same unfunny joke recycled and reposted for the thousandth time!
Haha but seriously though it wasn't all bad I actually really enjoyed my time there. If Reddit ever becomes not stupid again there's really great communities on there and it provides a much more structured and useful method of interacting with interests you like. There are some great communities that I honestly can't find comparable groups to on Tumblr that I wish I didn't have to continue using Reddit or a discord server to keep in touch with.
If you guys ever want to see what's up with Reddit I'd highly recommend r/196 (currently not allowing posts but maybe someday, also it's just fun to look through the old posts) and its little sister subreddits r/691 and r/19684 because they have a similar Tumblr (queer, lefty, shitposty) vibe, it's where most of the Reddit refugees on here came from initially. Also r/Tumblr and r/curatedTumblr (both private right now), because it's just reposts of Tumblr screenshots so the people there would probably be more accepting of you little tumbleweeds. r/wunkus (silly cats and stuff, I love that sub so much, criminally underrated). r/vexillologycirclejerk and r/mapporncirclejerk (private) are some of my favorite communities and I'm sad there's not a similar big community here. They're pretty left wing and focus on shitposting and jokes about flags and maps, they're very funny but some of the jokes get old quick. As well as literally any community you can think of! I swear, no matter how niche your interest is, there's probably a subreddit for it. And if there isn't, you can make it!
I'd avoid major shitposting subs, as that seems to be where the 'edgy teenage suburban white boy with unlimited internet access' archetype tends to congregate. I'd also avoid sorting by controversial in the comments when LGBT people get brought up on mainstream subs. Reddit takes itself a lot more seriously than Tumblr does and people will not be afraid to argue with you. A lot. Also you get punished with downvotes if people don't like what you say.
Anyways that was a lot. I hope Reddit stops being dumb because it's honestly hard to replace and it's such a great place to find things and people that you're interested in. Not to mention if you have a very specific question about basically anything, Reddit will literally save your life. I like Tumblr a lot, but Reddit will always be near and dear to my heart.

Something you should know about me is that I can go rather far to commit to a bit.
I saw this video recently and was inspired for my capstone project (Statistics Major)
By recently I mean last night at 8pm (20:00) with my presentation of this project at 9:30 am today. However I decided it was too great to pass up so hear I am.
My presentation was on bootstrap stats which is used to increase sample size when otherwise unable to. This is supposed to give more accurate sample statistics.
First things first: Acquiring the Spaghettios A-Z
Unfortunately the ones he bought in the video were not in stock so I got these. As you can see these also have numbers. So I had to sort them both alphabetically and remove the meatballs and numbers. This process took about 2 hours with 2 people (me doing 4 cans my partner doing 2)
This is what my spreadsheet looked like at the end
I then went online and got the full movie script for Shrek that lacked image descriptions and who said what (aka just the dialog).
Using R studio I found the amount of each letter in the Shrek script.
A 2061, B 431, C 459, D 925, E 3208, F 504, G 691, H 1663, I 1844, J 62, K 535, L 1225, M 717, N 1771, O 2678, P 358, Q 37, R 1511, 2 1600, T 2552, U 1142, V 242, W 779, X 20, Y 1046, Z 9.
I then found the averages for each letter in my 6 cans combined (rounded up). From this I divided the Shrek script by the cans to find how many cans it would take per letter. Then I found the letter with the highest amount of cans needed and thus had my answer (268).
Now I did the bootstrapping. This is basically taking random numbers from my dataset (with replacement) and assigning them to random letters in a new row. I did this and created 3 new datasets. One with 120 entries per letter, one with 1,200, and the last one with 12,000. I then repeated the process that I did with the first can to find the amount of cans needed (256, 268, and 256 respectively).
So from this I can conclude that it would take 256-268 cans to recreate the Shrek script.
#statistics#r#r studio#r programming#spaghettios#bit#silly idea#capstone#bootstrap statistics#Not kidding I finished this 10 minutes before I had to present#I slept a bit last night too#I had nightmares of my data both becoming people and sacks of rice#blame the rice part on my partners mom#then when my alarms went off#I turned off the first the panicking about my sentient data#so yeah#weird#college#student

Part 6 of A Treatise of Embroidery, crochet, and knitting with illustrations
By George C. Perkins, Anna Grayson Ford, and M. Heminway & Sons Silk co circa 1899.
Please note, this book was written in 1899, and as such uses a racist term to refer to the dyes that were used for the thread. If you'd like to read more about this period in time, the term, and the stereotypes that the Victorians had, I've actually linked the wikipedia article here that goes more in depth. It's not the end all be all of it, but it's a good starting place for anyone wanting to educate themselves on the topic.
Since the alt text was too long to fit in the actual pop up, I'm writing it down here!
Page 29. Lessons In Embroidery.
This page has the pattern for the strawberry and blossoms embroidery on it. It resembles a paint by numbers/letters image with a table showing the corresponding colours. I will try my best to explain the image, but first the colour charts.
Berries-Ripe.
Red: 655 shade number 1, 655 shade number 2, 656 shade number 3, 657 shade number 4, 658 shade number 5, 659 shade number 6, 660 shade number 7, 661 shade number 8.
Blossoms: 691 shade number 9.
Centre: 647 shade number 10, 409 1/2 shade number 11, 410 shade number 12.
Unripe Berries: 682 shade number 13, 683 shade number 14, 684 shade number 15.
Leaves and Stems.
Green: 0428 shade letter A, 428 shade letter B, 429 Shade letter C, 429 1/2 shade letter D, 430 shade letter E, 431 Shade letter F, 372 shade letter K, 373 shade letter M.
Brown: 300 shade letter O, 301 Shade letter R.
Strawberry Design. Materials. — M. Heminway & Sons' Oriental Dyes, Japan and Spanish Floss.
Berries. — Ripe and unripe; Red — "Sharpless variety" — 0655, 655, 656, 657, 658, 659, 660, 661. Unripe — 0655, 655, 656, 682, 683, 684. Blossoms.— 691, 682, 683, 0655. Centres. — 647, 409 1/2, 410. Leaves. — 0428, 428, 429, 429 1/2, 430, 431 ; or 370, 371, 372, 373, 374, 300, 301. Scallop. — 581 or 691. —Spanish Floss.
Design No. 153 — Strawberry. 18 inch. See Colored Plate C1.
Description.— Fill in berry crosswise, shortstitch on the wrong side, not much filling. For filling to raise the berry use M. Heminway & Sons' white Persian Floss. Start at the point of berry with two strands of red, 655, shading with one strand as dark red as 661. For an unripe berry start with light green, 682 and 683, shading into the green the light pink, 655, making the berry as ripe in color as 660. The seeds on the red berries put on with small stitches, gold, 409 1/2. On those that are not ripe use green, 428.
Blossoms. — White, 691, shadow of green, 682 on lower petals, touching a few of the new blossoms with light pink, 0655; pollen of 647, 409 1/2, 410.
Leaves. — On the outer edge of the leaf use two strands, shading toward centre with one, use a little brown, 300 and 301, for faded part of leaf.
Scallop. — Button-hole stitch in pink, 581, Spanish Floss, or 691, with an outline above scallop of one strand filo, 310.
Now I will describe the first illustration which shows the embroidery by letters/numbers diagram. I will be describing the image from the bottom to top as the spray of strawberries and blossoms flow in a diagonal from the bottom left to the upper right.
We start with two parallel, diagonal stems that branch off in multiple directions to hold the entirety of the design. The two stems are done in shade letters D and E. The rightmost stem slips under two leaves, forking into a third tendril, before the left fork curves gracefully to the right and ending in a strawberry. The right fork goes downwards and forms the triple fork from where the three large strawberry leaves all come from in this piece. An upper one, a bottom one, and one off to the right that is slightly twisted so the underside of the leaf tip is visible.
Shade letters for the bottommost leaf, from base to tip, left to right. Starting at the top where the base joins the stem: 1st row: E, O, R. 2nd row: E. 3rd row: F, C. 4th row: D, E, E, D. 5th row: B, D, C. leaf tip: C.
For the twisted leaf at the right of the previous: 1st Row: C, D, C. 2nd Row: D, E, C. 3rd Row: C, D. 4th Row: E, D, B. 5th Row: F. Leaf tip: A.
For the Upper Leaf: 1st Row: D, E. 2nd Row: C. 3rd Row: B, D, E, D. 4th Row: D, C, D, C, D. 5th Row: A, B. 6th row: A, R. Leaf tip: A.
Back at the beginning, where the stems are parallel, the leftmost stem forks before the two separate bits slip under the upper large leaf that we described earlier. The right fork curves up and to the left into a strawberry while the left fork curves up behind it. It would seem a second strawberry also emerges from a stem coming from behind the same leaf, although it does not show a fork. This berry sits just under the other.
Higher Strawberry: 1st Row: 4, 6. 2nd Row: 3, 2, 5, 3, 3. 3rd Row: 2, 15, 4, 8, 3. 4th Row: 14, 2. Strawberry Tip: 13.
Lower Strawberry: 1st Row: 8. 2nd Row: 5, 6, 7, 5. 3rd Row: 4, 4, 5, 4. 4th Row: 2, 2, 2, 2. 5th row: 1, 1, 1.
Only two of the little strawberry leaf tops have any kind of letter indication, all of them combinations of C, D, and B, so your guess is as good as mine.
Emerging from the top strawberry is another series of three stems, two of which appear to have forked somewhere behind the berry unseen. The left stem goes up and then promptly forks before slipping under a fully bloomed strawberry blossom, and then emerging from the top with a single leaf gracing the end. Somewhere behind the flower another tendril has forked off this one and goes up to end in a tiny blossom not yet bloomed. Next to that is the stem that will be described in a few paragraphs, and then another stem leading to a small blossom, that is also not fully bloomed.
Big Blossom: This has 5 petals in total, and all the petals are tipped in shade number 9, and all excepting the leftmost petal gradiate to shade number 13. The leftmost petal gradiates to shade number 14, and then the center is shade number 10.
Small Blossom: 9 at the tip, 13 at the base, there are 3 petals showing.
Tiny Blossom: same, 9 tip, 13 base, also 3 petals showing.
Back to under the blossom, the right stem from the original fork leads up to an elegant waving stem that branches off into several tendrils mostly decorated with a pair of leaves each.
The left tendril from that fork extends up a ways, waving a bit and is done in shade letter B, and then forks one last time culminating in a pair of tiny leaves on the right fork and a waving tendril on the left that finishes in shade letter A.
Leaf 1: Base E, Tip D. Leaf 2: Base C, Tip B.
The right tendril from the fork that leads into the last also immediately forks again ending in a pair of tiny leaves coming from each tendril.
From lowest leaf to highest, base to tip:
Leaf 1 right tendril: E. Leaf 2 right tendril: D, C. Leaf 3 Left Tendril: D, E. Leaf 4 Left tendril: C, B.
all the tiny leaves leaves save one are done in two colours, one for the base and one for the tip. So wherever you decide to put a tiny leaf, you can keep the colour schemes in mind.
There is an image at the bottom captioned Design No 153- Strawberry. 18 inch. See Coloured Plate C1.
This has what appears to be a doily with an embroidered scalloped edge and the large strawberry image placed at the top and bottom of the doily, flowing with the circular edge. There is a small smattering of petals coming off of an extra pair of fallen blossoms that were added to one edge, and a small detached strawberry on the other.
All in all, thank you for your patience while I try to get these out. If anyone has any suggestions to make these easier to understand, my inbox is always open. I will be posting another pair of images sometime this week!
