Sometimes things don’t go quite to plan when travelling. Just to keep it real, here are some things that didn’t pan out quite as we expected... •Getting tickets for a museum, only to find it’s not open. That’s ok - return the next day and admire the Palazzo Pitti interiors. •Someone slipped down the narrow stairs in Innsbruck - saved the wine but ended up with some large purple bruises. •Another of our party got a nasty concussion from a rather large stack on the ski fields at Axamer Lizum. Fortunately she’s ok and it happened in last hour of skiing. •Remember those lovely stone steps in Venice? Well someone missed that last step, which resulted in a badly sprained ankle, that is still on the mend. •Flight to London City Airport diverted because of rotten weather...ended up in East Midlands Airport and took another 4 hours to get back to London. More Venice: Next to the Rialto Bridge, there’s a rooftop terrace st the top of the Fondaco dei Tedeschi store. (Entry is free, but you need to book a time slot to enter.) Awesome views of the whole city. An added bonus was the exhibition of Bvlgari serpenti snake motif designs - these are some of the bracelet watches. We also enjoyed an afternoon vaporetto ride across to Murano. Yesterday the girls had another day of skiing so Eugene and I just hopped across the border to Mittenwald in Deutschland for a quick coffee break! Yesterday I went off to Schlick2000 with the skiers. We all went up in the cable car and I watched some of their antics, before retiring to a warm cafe to thaw out with lots of hot chocolate and a good book. The snow was squeaky fresh! I caught the cable car back down and had to close my eyes a few times with the heights. Caught the bus from Axams (pics 1-5) into Innsbruck (pics 6-10) while the rest of the gang went skiing. The place we are staying is part of a tourist welcome program that gives free bus passes on certain bus routes.
