take care of yourself - mason mount
summary: the boys can tell Y/N isn't doing well while dealing with a long-term injury, and Mason confronts her about it; no established relationship, some hurt/comfort and a little bit of pining if you squint
pairing: mason mount x footballer!reader
word count: 2.7k
notes: here is my second fic, this time, one for mason! as always, let me know what you think and feel free to send any ideas or requests my way! <;3
You sighed as you collected your things from the wall of the training room. Today had been… hard, to say the very least.
You had been out of both practice and games for the last several weeks due to a persistent knee injury. Day after day of physical therapy, strength training, and rest that had been intended to get you back on the pitch had yielded only minor results. You were beginning to be discouraged with your progress. The club’s physios had originally hoped to get you back in shape before now, and every day past their original goal left you feeling more and more despair.
The rest of the women’s team had left a few days ago to attend an away game. You had elected to stay behind, training, stretching, whatever you could do to make any progress with your injury. Today was the day the rest of the girls would be playing, and you couldn’t help your mind from wandering as you trained to how badly you wished to be with them, warming up and getting ready to play. It hadn’t helped that one of the cameramen from the media department had found his way into the gym as you worked on the various exercises intended to alleviate your knee injury to record some clips for the “behind the scenes” training content on the Chelsea social pages. After all, you were the only member of the women’s team left behind to get content from, so the rest of the content would have to come from the boys. You understood the man was only trying to do his job, but you could practically feel the lens of the camera pointed at you from behind and you only felt humiliated as you worked through the exercises, feeling the tears burning your eyes as you struggled to hold them back.
You had finished the day with a light workout in the gym, avoiding any weights or activities that would put excessive pressure on your affected knee. You tried your best to forget the discouraged look on the trainers’ faces today as they noted that you hadnt made much improvement since they last assessed you. As you finished, you dropped onto one of the weight benches, lifting your water bottle to your lips as you looked out of the windows of the Cobham Training Center. A flurry of activity on the fields outside caught your eye, and you watched as the distant figures of the boys’ team ran around on the fields.
You decided to go out and say hi to some of the guys before heading out for the day, so you grabbed your water bottle, heaving yourself up from the bench and weaving your way through the familiar halls of the building, through the locker room to the outdoors. You walked slowly, beginning to limp slightly as your knee grew sore from use throughout your training.
As you approached, you watched as the boys were competing in 5v5 matches on only half of the field. Their antics and banter brought a smile to your lips, the heavy weight you had been feeling on your shoulders the whole day feeling a little lighter already.
Soon enough, the boys are called together for a quick huddle before they wrap up practice for the day. The group begins to disperse, and you spot Ben and Mason joking with one another elbowing each other in the side as they walked off the pitch. Ben is the first to spot you standing there, raising his hand to wave at you with a soft smile. Mason follows his eyes, waving soon after.
You return the gesture, mustering up as much of a smile as you can manage after such a discouraging day. The two boys make their way over to you as the rest of the team begins the trek back inside of the facility.
“Hey, there, stranger,” Mason quipped throwing an arm around your shoulders once he reached you, pulling you into his side in a short hug. “How have you been?”
“Doing alright,” you lied, turning up the corners of your mouth in a small smile. “You all seemed like you were having fun today.”
Ben chuckled, hugging you as well after Mason had released you. “Kai was talking all sorts of smack, so we had to put him in his place.” Both of them laughed at the comment.
“How’s the knee doing?” Ben asked, gesturing slightly to the brace wrapped around your left leg.
“Eh, it’s slow moving, but it’s getting there,” you shrugged off the question. “You know how it is.” Ben truly did know, having faced a similar injury to yours and facing many setbacks in the process.
Mason and Ben share a look of concern, unbeknownst to you as you stare at your shoes. They can tell you haven’t been the same recently, and they’re both keenly aware of the effects that such a long-term setback like this can have on an athlete. Mason frowns at your demeanor.
The three of you talk for a moment about what they had been doing in training recently as they gathered their things from the sideline and begin walking back toward Cobham. Shortly after, the topic turned to the game that the rest of the Chelsea women’s team would be playing in tonight, and you tried not to let on to how badly you wished you were able to play.
“Actually, several of the guys were going to head to the pub to watch the game after we hit the showers and get out of here,” Mason stated, meeting your eyes as we walked. “Would you want to come or would that make you feel worse?” He narrowed his eyes just slightly at you, attempting to read your expression.
You ponder the invitation for a moment, eventually deciding that you would probably end up watching the game anyway if you just went home, and you could really use the company. You nod. “Sure, yeah. I’ll go.”
You parted ways with them once you reached the facility, heading into your respective locker rooms and showering the sweat (and in the guys’ case, dirt from the pitch) off from a long day of training. You sat by the exit once you had finished, playing on your phone until you spotted Mason and Ben, both with slightly damp hair, and we headed over to the pub to meet some of the other guys, sliding into a decent-sized booth just as the TV over the bar showed the game’s kickoff.
The night went on, some of the guys getting a little rowdy. No one was drinking too heavily since everyone was still in the middle of the season, but clearly it was enough for them to get a little buzzed. You remained quietly tucked in the back corner, leaning your back against the wall as you sat sideways in the booth, facing toward the TV so you could focus on it. Mason was seated across the table from you, and the couple of times you tore your eyes away from the game, you caught him watching you with a look in his eye that showed he’d caught on to more than you would have liked for him to.
The reality was, even as you cheered with the rest of the boys for your teammates as they scored, something in your chest twisted with sorrow for the fact that you weren’t there. That simple fact completely dampened the joy you felt for the goal.
After the full 90 minutes, Chelsea emerged with a 2-0 victory, and the guys began collecting their things, shouting and creating a scene on the way out of the bar, yelling about the win. You laughed at them as you slid out of the booth and made your way out of the front door with them. Everyone began parting ways, saying their goodbyes to one another. You had caught a ride with someone else on the way over, so you elected to walk back to your apartment, seeing as it wasn’t too far away.
“Y/N!” a voice called to you from the side of the road as the group began to disperse. It was Mason, standing with the door of a cab open. “You want to split a cab?”
You waved him off, shrugging your shoulders. “I only live a few blocks from here. I’m just gonna walk. Get some fresh air.” You forced a smile at him. “Thanks, though. I appreciate it.”
Waving goodbye to him, you spun on your heel and began walking in the direction of your apartment. You furrow your brow in confusion when you see the cab that Mason had just been standing in front of speed past you on the street, empty except for the driver.
You hear soft footsteps before you see Mason jog up to your side, joining you as you walked down the sidewalk.
“What are you doing?”
“You really think I’m gonna let a lady walk home alone at this hour of the night?” Mason smiles genuinely at you, and you feel your chest warm slightly at the soft look on his face.
“You don’t have to do that, really,” you looked down at the concrete as you walked together.
“Well, I’m going to. So hush,” he replies playfully. You do your best to hide the blush that you feel rushing into your cheeks, and you’re thankful in this moment for the privacy of the dark night and dim streetlights.
The two of you walk in a comfortable silence for a few moments before you hear Mason inhale deeply before speaking.
“So how are you really doing with your injury?” he asks, that same look on his face from earlier, slightly narrowing his eyes as he seems to be trying to read you. It’s the same look he was giving you when you caught him staring in the pub as well.
You shrug at the question once more. “I mean progress is slow, but it’s getting there-“
“I’m not talking about your knee. I know how that’s coming along. I’m talking about you,” he cut you off before you could brush off the concern like you usually do. When you lift your eyes from the sidewalk, Mason is giving you a look that seems to pierce into your soul. “And don’t tell me you’re doing fine, because I watched you watch that game in there, and I could tell that you felt like a part of you was dying.”
Your heart did a little flip at his caring words, but at the same time you hated that he was able to read you so easily.
“I’m-“ you began and then sighed heavily. There was no use in telling him the same lie you told anyone else that would ask. In that moment, you’re absolutely sure he would see right through anything short of the truth. And your resolve to shut him out and pretend everything was fine was crumbling as you slowly walked in the direction of your apartment.
“I don’t know. It’s been hard lately,” you spoke softly, as if you were afraid someone else would hear, even though the sidewalks were empty at such a late hour. “I just feel like I haven’t made any progress since I first started working with the trainers last month. And this game today was the goal they had set for you to be back to normal and playing again. I guess it’s just really hitting me that today was supposed to be the day that I got to get back to playing the game that I love so much, and yet I still feel like I’m falling apart just as much as I was the day that I first got hurt.”
Your mind flashed back to the night of your injury. It was pouring rain in the stadium that day, and the team was in the 76th minute of the game. You collided hard with one of your opponents, and in the tangle of limbs, the sole of your boot had gotten firmly planted on the ground. As you had fallen on the slick rain-wetted pitch, the awkward angle had twisted your knee into a position beyond how it was meant to move. The sharp pain had shot through joint almost immediately, and you knew this wasn’t just a small bump that you could walk off, hopping back on the pitch to finish the game. As the trainers surrounded you on the pitch and began trying to stretch your leg, the adrenaline that had been flowing through your veins due to the game began to wear off, and the pain intensified. You had to have two trainers help you off the field, unable to carry yourself almost at all on your left leg.
“Well, make sure you’re taking care of yourself mentally, right now, too,” Mason spoke, pulling you from your thoughts. “Obviously the physicality of it is important, but I know the training team is already all over you for that.”
You laughed shortly at his quip about the trainers. “I guess… I’ve just felt pretty lonely lately… like I’m almost not a real part of the team anymore. I can’t do all of the training they’re doing, and when I am with them, I feel like I’m holding everyone back. And now, I feel especially separated from them when they’re preparing for and leaving for this series of away games,” you realized that you had begun rambling, trying to fix it with a short, “I dunno, it’s stupid.”
“No, no, that’s not stupid at all.” When your eyes met his, his gentle smile was reassuring. “That makes perfect sense. I’m sorry you’ve been feeling that way.” Your heart warmed at his remark, and you tried your best to hide the smile playing at your lips as butterflies erupted in your stomach.
You asked him about how the men’s team had been doing lately in order to change the subject, having had your fill of opening up for the night. He took the subject change in stride and began telling you how their recent training sessions had gone and about the strategies they had discussed for the match they had coming up within the week.
Soon after, the two of you reached your apartment building and you slowed to a stop in front of the entrance. “This is me,” you smiled at him, gesturing to the building.
“Alright, get some sleep, and I’ll see you at Cobham tomorrow, yeah?” he pulled you into a quick hug, and as soon as he let go, you missed the warmth and comfort of it.
You nodded in response, and he turned to leave, choosing not to walk you inside so he didn’t overstep any boundaries. “Hey,” you caught his attention before he could walk away. “Thanks for listening to me. I think I really needed that.”
A smile spread across his face, his eyes crinkling slightly at the edges. “Anytime. Take care of yourself and let me know if you need anything, okay?” he reiterated. You only nodded in response, fearing that if you opened your mouth to speak, he’d be able to hear how nervous you felt. “Goodnight, Y/N.”
“ ‘Night, Mase.”
And with that, he turned to walk down the sidewalk, away from your building. It felt like your heart was skipping beats as you let yourself into the building, walking upstairs to your apartment door. Your hands were still shaking slightly as you turned the key in the lock.
Your conversation with Mason had done wonders for lifting your mood, and you felt lighter, almost as if you were floating as you moved through your apartment, shedding your clothes for something more comfortable, washing your face, brushing your teeth, and slipping into your bed.
As you pulled your comforter over your legs, you picked up your phone to plug it into the charger on the bedside table before you went to sleep. Your heart jumped in your chest again as you read the text that had popped up on your lock screen, a text from Mason:
hey, a few of us are gonna be at the gym tomorrow afternoon, if you wanted to join? i didn’t know what you had planned for training, but i just wanted you to know you have workout buddies if you want them x :)

Not only will you be tasked with a key role in looking after our campers and overseeing indoor and outdoor activities, you’ll be carrying out maintenance jobs such as cleaning and cataloging equipment. This opportunity will also let you meet like-minded individuals - some of them alumni like yourself - and build on your team working skills!
Attached to this email is a handy map we send to all campers and counselors - just incase you’ve forgotten your way around!
See you soon!
Kind regards,
Cheryl Williams
Head of Administration
--
P.S. Hey Kid,
Welcome back,
I’m not surprised you’ve applied for this, I’ve seen you every summer for the past 10 years and I knew the second you stepped foot in this camp crying and screaming that you’d love it here. A quick reminder though, you're here as a counselor now, you’re being paid to do a job. So let me remind you that this is a professional environment. Which means:
1) No chit-chat with Mia when you’re both supposed to be paying attention.
2) You need to arrive on time to all duties.
3) No fighting with any of your peers.
You’re a good kid, don’t get carried away. And don’t let Danny rile you up, you’re both grown ups now. I’ve said the same thing to him, so don’t think I’m picking favourites here.
Sincerely
Camp Director Ash Williams

The Incident: Whats happened so far, and what to look out for
By AzureClouds
As many of you know by now, Grian and Scar have accidentally blown up Doc’s Tunnel Bore when they took a short break from building. While the Tunnel Bore had been tested and shown to be both Grian proof and Scar proof, it was not prepared, nor safe, for the two of them at the same time and it has been theorized by many that it is impossible to create a machine immune to the duo’s combined chaos.
The two soon attempted to fix it using their limited Redstone knowledge after a brief panic, mainly using photos of the Tunnel Bore from before the incident and experience watching other Redstoners building similar machines; they sadly failed after several attempts and opted to leave gifts instead! Amongst these gifts where diamonds, ScarLand merchandise and even TCG cards!
Unfortunately, when they showed Doc the destroyed Tunnel Bore on a tour of the Perimeter, he was not swayed by their gifts or numerous compliments, although they complimented his base and his redstone. Grian and Scar then flew out a pre-prepared escape hole, only narrowly avoiding Doc.
Although Doc enjoyed the ScarLand merch , especially the hats, he still decided that revenge must be taken against them, in the form of haunting the two trouble makers. He began by making an Update Skipper, a simplified version of the Update Suppressor to shrink Grian’s Nether portal to one block, and turning it sideways. Grian’s portal was invisible from approach, and according to inside sources, decided to keep it, and has not attempted to fix it. He has instead decided to take this opportunity to work on the back of the Crastle.
Afterwards, Doc began work on the Wither Reactor, an especially dangerous machine, after receiving five stacks of Wither skulls courtesy of Impulse. In addition to plans for using it for Concrete farming, he added a feature allowing him to collect blue skulls, as although they are rarer and more destructive, loose their extra properties once unloaded.
Soon after its construction, the Wither Reactor provided Doc with enough skulls, and he began placing them over ScarLand forming an ominous cloud over the “Happiest place on Hermitcraft.” Doc furthered his prank by teaming up with Bdubs, after realizing the latter had left horses to freely roam the area as revenge for the death of his first horse. They chose to challenge Scar to a TCG game, and whilst Bdubs and Scar went against each other in Docs arena, the Anvil Canon had been set to randomly launch anvils into the arena, several of them nearly taking out Scar, who was none the wiser, thanks to Bdubs and Docs quick cover ups.
Additionally, many of the citizens residing and working in Grian’s Base, as well as Scarland, have already temporarily relocated, and those who have not done so yet are advised to make plans to do so or prepare for hauntings in and around their places of residence and work.
Now onto other news below the cut!

Gurhulk Begins Hermit Citizen Hub Build in Minecraft
Recorded by Cirrus, the Shoebill, written by Lydia
Hermit Citizen Hub member and builder Gurhulk has begun a project to construct a digital architectural version of the Hermit Citizen Hub through Minecraft. While the Hermit Citizen Hub did not previously have a set blueprint for a virtual building, it currently exists as a Discord Server for Hermitcraft viewers, artists, writers, musicians, builders, and engineers. This Discord Server was created by Tumblr user Ink-Ghoul after they had drawn up a Citizen I.D. card template for anyone wishing to create a fictional character to live on the Hermitcraft Server. Since April 11th, the Hermit Citizen Hub Discord Server has amassed approximately 625 members.
Creating a Hermit Citizen involves a few simple decisions, with participants choosing a name, species, occupation, and home base for their brainchild that they bring to the Server, in addition to determining a few Minecraft-related skills for said Citizen. These skills involve building, combat, engineering (Redstone), agility (movement), navigation (exploration), farming, mining, and prank execution. Afterward, an incredible amount of members have enjoyed throwing their Citizens into scenarios that could easily fit the tone of several genres of media and entertainment, including but not limited to prime-time comedy television shows, soap operas, teenage drama novels, workplace comedies, psychological thrillers, horror films, and fantasy serials.
While the creation of a Citizen to hypothetically live in the world of Hermitcraft may seem odd to those unfamiliar with making fan characters, those who have participated have stated that it is a deeply enriching experience for their inspiration to formulate extensive backstories, artwork, writing pieces, and thought-provoking character traits, as well as build interpersonal connections with other fans within this Server’s welcoming environment. The presence of Hermits is often inconsequential to many of the Citizens, as almost all of them have entirely separated arcs, homes, and personalities from their Affiliated Hermits.
The Hermit Citizen Hub Discord Server encompasses channels for artwork, writing pieces, music, and a brainstorming area for participants to ask for suggestions regarding their character creation. Perhaps one of the most significant implementations of the community center is the addition of the Citizen Connections. This feature has helped to kickstart a great number of stories for the majority of Hermit Citizens who are searching for their place among their fellow residents. Notable Citizen Connections Groups with high amounts of activity include the Birds of The Birdhouse, the Sculk Research Team, the Decked Out Crew, the staff of The Overseer, the Scarland Staff, and those affiliated with Watchers among many others.
Gurhulk’s Hermit Citizen is a robot named G.U.R. who works as a caretaker of his maker, Grumbot, living in his cave. He excels in engineering (Redstone) and building. He joined Hermitcraft in Season 7 and functions as a walking redstone torch, in addition to containing multiple decades of knowledge. He keeps a sample of the amethyst that infected the Hermatrix so that he may continue to analyze it. The design of Gurhulk’s Citizen is a humanoid robot standing at six feet tall with a red and gray color scheme and sleek mechanical frame, hearkening back to the days of Isaac Aasimov’s robot science fiction, especially that of Caliban, the archetypal tale of a robot grappling with its place in human society and the advancement of robots to fully sentient beings. G.U.R. arrived on our Discord Server on April 15th.
The Hermit Citizen Hub Build is not the first digital architectural representation of a structure on the Server. The previously completed Build was The Birdhouse, a highly detailed and meticulously crafted tree house with a fully decorated interior. The original concept art for The Birdhouse was drawn by Morph, and a fully realized Minecraft version of said Birdhouse was hand-crafted by Discord User Redfeather, creator of the laboratory technician, mob biologist, and animal behaviorist Citizen of the same name.
This Birdhouse includes several floors all with different purposes to be the quintessential artistic rendition of the Haven for the Avians. It includes a communal kitchen, infirmary and bird bath, living room, library, sleeping quarters with hammocks and beds, an observatory, a trellis, an outdoor cafe, a large community table at the very top with a beautifully colored stain-glass roof, and all of the luxuries an Avian could ever want. The inside is filled with couches, books, knick-knacks, study areas, plant life, bird toys, and bean bag chairs, and the outside includes private conversational areas, a tire swing, a parkour challenge, and landing pads for new and returning visitors.
To Gurhulk, the Hermit Citizen Hub is a place to interact with numerous wonderful people from the Hermitcraft fan community. Here, he was able to connect with them more so than he was through his Twitter page, finding this as the ideal community center of his escapades. The digital architecture of the actual Build is intended to appear similar to an inside marketplace, taking heavy inspiration from Greek architectural styles. Gurhulk states that he is “definitely going for the Big Quartz Build,” as the idea had come across him during one of his work days. He did not note any specific inspirations for the project, though he had previously seen The Birdhouse. With the use of the Immersive Portals modification, Gurhulk plans to make the structure on a large scale from the inside to represent the various channels on the Server. Therefore, its interior will be much larger than its exterior. He sees this location as a place for Hermit Citizens to come together outside of their affiliated bases, as well as being a gathering place for various groups such as The Overseer staff, SSS, and SUS, among multiple other groups.
With the attitude of taking one step at a time and seeking ways to enhance his work, he sees this as a perfect opportunity to show how he has improved over time. The project has been in the works since Wednesday, May 24th, when he asked for other members’ input about color ideas and began putting together the modifications he would need for the structure. On the following day, he confirmed that the other members would enjoy the use of the Greek-inspired architectural style with a blue and cyan color palette, and began building its front porch section. Modifications for the project have also been implemented, including the Create Modification, Chipped, Immersive Portals, and MrCrayfish’s Furniture Modification, along with a few others. Due to the number of modifications being used, Gurhulk is uncertain about the feasibility of an efficient world download but stated that he would consider it when the project is finished.
Gurhulk’s representation of the Hermit Citizen Hub in architectural format is one we intensely look forward to, as it takes an analytical and innovative individual to translate these features of such a large online space to a physical version within Minecraft, and a creator with an unfathomable amount of gumption to present the result as an intended location for the entire population of the Server. In addition to a description of the overall beginning stages, the community has received two photographs from Gurhulk of the initial progress of the Hermit Citizen Hub Build. These photographs depict the front porch area and the front balcony. These photographs were taken on May 25th, May 26th, and May 30th.
Gurhulk welcomes all feedback from his fellow Server members. We wish him the best of luck as he continues to show his building prowess in his newest constructive venture!

Soup Cats, Legit or Souptaster?
By Nes
Recently opened by the Pearlescentmoon affiliates with locations across the server near any and all Twinkly Trash outlets, Soup Cats is a surprisingly punny store selling a variety of goods of the soup variety, including soup themed clothing. Although innocent at first glance, upon further inspection, some anomalies arise. The most pressing being that of all the workers being cats or cat hybrids, which seems quite normal until you consider these people were not cat hybrids last week. Join reporter and writer Nes as she visits one of these locations to uncover the truth beneath the soup.
Upon first entering their shopping district location, I was immediately overwhelmed by the cozy yet chaotic nature of the interior, followed shortly by the equally chaotic nature of two workers named Zera and Larimar. Although it took some adjustment, I did find myself enjoying the atmosphere after some time, especially the cozy seating and cat cafe vibes that came with the various felines lounging in and around the establishment.
Before placing my order, I had the chance to speak with Head Chef Zera and Head of Marketing Larimar. Apparently, they had been expecting me. During a conversation laced with soup-based puns and general excitement for the store being in the paper, I was unable to learn much outside of my already existing knowledge on the establishment. Regardless, I enjoyed my time with them both immensely and highly recommend visiting just to talk to them and all the other staff!
This article isn’t about the staff and their amazing hospitality. This is about the soup and the secrets that lie within. Upon Larimar’s suggestion, I liked and soupscribed to Pearlescentmoon before ordering the mystery soup, as suggested by Zera. After ordering, they assured me that the meal was completely safe, which did not bode well for me, but I carried on despite my hesitance.
The soup I received was deceivingly appetizing in appearance, and I was left alone to enjoy my meal. Interestingly, there was a faint glow radiating from the otherwise plain looking potato soup. I would be lying if I claimed I wasn’t slightly concerned for my well being as I took my first bite, but despite the anomalies, it tasted fine! In fact, I’d be willing to bet it was the best soup I had ever had.
Overall, I would rate the experience a 10/10, with amazing service staff and even better food. Not only that, but as I left, I was able to buy myself my very own soup themed shirt! I had a wonderful time and meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow meow*
*Editor's Note: The Overseer would like to apologize, it seems the author of this article was turned into a cat and has left to pursue a career at Soup Cats. We wish them the best!
Lost and Found
By Virtual
The following items were collected from across the server over the past week. If you would like to report an item missing, or if you recognize any of the below items as your own, please contact us at [email protected]* *not a real email address
Item 1: A lodestone compass, Found in a pile of barrels in front of of Bdubs’ castle. The pile was eleven barrels high at its tallest and seventeen barrels wide at its widest. The barrels were completely empty except for a barrel at the center, which contained a single lodestone compass. Following the compass led to a bedrock pocket in the perimeter, which did not contain a lodestone but did contain Item 2. The compass is now spinning endlessly with no apparent target in sight. If the compass is not collected, it will be returned to its pile of barrels for Bdubs to handle as he sees fit.
Item 2: A pair of sunglasses with six lenses, found on the floor of the Perimeter. These glasses, when held up to the eye, allow a player to view set locations in six different servers, with each server corresponding to a different lens. Citizens reported splitting headaches and double vision for up to an hour after use. The glasses have been placed inside an ender chest for safekeeping, and will be removed only upon request for return.
Item 3: A bag of seven polyhedral dice, found on the roof of Cleo’s megabase. When one die is taken out of the bag, another die of identical shape but different color takes its place. There seems to be no end to the amount of dice the bag can produce, as careful tests (read: holding it upside down for an hour) have demonstrated the bag’s regenerative capabilities to be mildly impossible. If the bag belongs to you, make sure not to slip on the dice-covered floor when you come to pick it up.
The Museum Situation
By Ilea
A few weeks ago, we here at The Overseer provided you with a comprehensive guide to Cleo's fabulous collection. This week we are covering the escalation of the "museum situation."
You may ask what “museum situation” means, and I am glad to say that it is my name for the current and past events surrounding all museums on Hermitcraft. That’s right, there is more than just Cleo’s collection, and this is less a guide for the rest and more of a history rundown on them.
Starting with Cub’s museum, we are happy to inform you that there are a few parkour courses inside and outside the facility. Another great part of it is the experience that it provides you when getting from the third to the second floor with the use of slime blocks. Just this time, we encourage you to jump from the barriers.
Regarding the exponents, Cub has collected all of the easter eggs from the Easter Egg Hunt, including the Gold Eggs used in the final round to determine the champion. The redaction of The Overseer would like to remind you that said Egg Hunt took place over a year ago.
Another fine thing you may find in that museum is an interactive music display, where you can listen to important music discs from Hermitcraft history. For example, “The Ballad of Joe Hills” is there. Most of those discs, as well as multiple heads of Empires members, were collected from the Christmas area.
Speaking of collected heads, due to the kingmaking and dungeoncreating nature of BdoubleO, he has his own display in the museum that consists of his head, his original bed, and a crescent moon made by Cub to represent the nature of the exhibit.
Hermit history is not the only thing collected in the museum as we heard that there are some rare ores on display there.
For now, the last part of the exhibition is a small stand for King Ren that involves some old tomatoes that were thrown at him, a statue representing him, and the Invite to the Vault Party that started the downfall of monarchy.
If you want to take a more comprehensive look at the story surrounding King Ren, we are happy to inform you that across the road from Cub’s museum, you can see the Royal museum focuses only on that part of our history. Cleo managed to find absolute rarities to put in said museum, including a replica of the actual King’s throne and a replica of the cage in which Ren was put after the King’s Vault events.
Aside from those showstopping replicas on the parter, we can find all of the crystals and infamous pumpkins from the King’s Quest time. Next to them, there is a representation of the rewards from it. On that same level, we can find a head of the good King Ren, a replica of the tiny crown, and right beside them is an entire exhibit dedicated to the Vault Party, which has the original “No, No, No” music disc, the Invite, a crystal from the quest, and head of one of twelve Xisumas that are to blame for said party.
On the other side of the throne, we have a representation of the Bad King Ren’s rule, including Gigapies™, Royal Emeralds, affirmations written by the King Ren himself, armours representing those given to the contestants in King’s Vault, and the original Sword of Lady Cleo from that event.
Upstairs, members of King’s Court are represented in small displays. With them, there are original diamond glasses that belonged to Lady Cleo. The last exhibit shows the further story of the now only figurative monarchy on Hermitcraft.
We are glad to inform you that both museums are looking for donations both in the form of items and diamonds. We are also happy to inform you that Jevin already is trying to profit off this and that the original King Ren’s netherite armor from the King’s Vault event is still on display in Pearl’s Trash Shop.
After the situation escalates a bit, we will give you another short rundown on the museums with further developments in both collections.
ADVERTISEMENTS
—————————————————
hOtGuY’s Gify Shop is officially open! I know we citizens haven’t had the best relationship with our server vigilante, most often being used as target practice, but who wouldn’t want a signature hOtGuY bow to shoot back at him with?
—————————————————
Were you left unemployed in the wake of Grian and Scar’s Incident? Do you know how to not burn down the house with an oven? Good! The Lush Cave Bakery in The Citadel is looking for employees. Please contact Azelea for more information.
—————————————————
With the addition of both Cub and Cleo’s museums to the server, the Gardening Club is hosting a tour! If you see something you recognize, don’t worry, they would never steal anything and probably just found something similar. Leave your roses at the door for free entry!
—————————————————
At least WE at the SSS never go into homes uninvited. Our services respect private property even if we see the phantoms giving citizens extra tight hugs. All members of the Scar Safety Services are willing to wait for you to invite them in so they can insure no deaths will happen on the job nor afterwards.

Had another weird dream last night, this one some unholy mix of sci-fi and horror.
It starts off with a crew exploring deep space and stumbling upon a city ship/station, but far larger than any they'd seen before and a model they didn't recognize. It looked like someone had taken a city, encased it within a dome, and launched it into space wholesale. Except...the dome (partially retracted, not broken) was open, and the city sat dark and drifting. No response when they hailed, no distress beacon or signs of life when they run their scanners, no signs of struggle or damage when they circle the vessel.
Of course, they send a party to investigate. The buildings were all sealed. After following the "outdoor" pathways for a time, the party decided to split up. One team stayed on the surface, and the other went into the maintenance tunnels to see about restoring power.
Through dream logic, the underground team finds a flooded section of tunnels, and their space suits are apparently rated for diving too (again, dream logic), so they go in. They manage to restart the city's power after finding a flooded room with a lot of controls, but they also activated a defense turret. They do not have clearance to be down there, so they end up dodging bullets. Thankfully, the turret doesn't seem as smooth and quick as it should be.
Meanwhile, the aboveground team takes advantage of the restored power to enter what looks like a medical center. Once the airlock door closed behind them, their suits pinged with an alert that the atmosphere was breathable. Sick of breathing recycled air, they take their helmets off. They're in the pediatric ward when people start appearing: nurses, receptionists, patients, all walking around as if they've always been there, and the away team's presence isn't anything out of the ordinary. One woman (non-human species, but somehow they know she's a she) approaches them and asks if they're lost. In perfectly understandable English.
Back with the underground team, one of the bullet dodgers surfaces, looking for some sort of controls to turn off the turret that works underwater. Upon getting the "breathable atmosphere" alert, the man pops their helmet to better see. Something in the water had grimed up the helmet's visor. As he's scrambling to figure out the foreign control system, a person walks soundlessly up behind him and asks him if he can be of assistance (again non-human and again totally understandable). The man yells/explains about his team being shot at, and the alien points out which screen and command will deactivate the security turret. The turret shuts down, and the rest of the underground team surface and take their helmets off. No major injuries, thankfully.
The two teams reconvene at the engineer and nurse's home (the teams managed to run into two halves of the same couple) and talk with their hosts. This was a colony ship, meant to carry tens of thousands, now abandoned, mostly. The male alien mentioned that there were other ships in their fleet, but this one was the biggest and the most expensive to keep operational. There is some old grudge there about certain people wanting the ship decommissioned due to the cost. It was finally abandoned when an illness broke out. No treatments worked to slow the progression, and a large number of the ship's inhabitants died. Since they couldn't find a cause or cure, the dead were cremated and vented into space. Those infected were left behind in quarantine to die while the healthy evacuated to other ships. The rest of the fleet left them behind.
Somehow, the majority of those left behind recovered.
Something went wrong with the ship's power about the time the last sick person recovered, and everything just shut down. They hadn't been able to fix it (no one left behind knew how), until the away party did something that caused the system to reboot.
The away party hailed their ship to land inside the still-open dome, so everyone else could get a break from their own ship's recycled air too. The aliens' air system seemed far superior, and while the "outdoors" was still a vacuum, inside the buildings was perfectly safe.
They even brought the 2 ship's cats to let them stretch their legs and explore.
Things start taking a turn when they get to asking about the mysterious disease that hit the colony. It seemed to start respiratory then startlingly quickly become a systemic infection. What the infectious agent was, they never did find out. Cultures didn't grow anything by the time the entire colony was compromised. The male alien grumbled about the "disease" being set loose on purpose to push for the ship's abandonment.
At some point one of the away team bumps into one of the aliens...and passes right through them. They quickly come to the realization there weren't truly any survivors. Conversation shifts to other topics including wondering why they stayed as ghosts when their daughter (one of the earliest to die) and so many others didn't.
The cats by this point are comfortable to make nuisances of themselves, so I (I think I was in the aboveground team, but I perspective hopped a few times) closed them in the alien couple's daughter's room. As soon as put them in the room, Meili has a sneezing fit and bolted further into the room. Paisli just looked back at me and meowed. That didn't get them out of their banishment.
I walked back into the central room of the house to the female alien describing their daughter's symptoms. Now, while alien biology was undoubtedly different, the description they gave was eerily similar to some I'd heard before. Fungal infections. The dread set in as I recalled Meili sneezing in the daughter's room, the daughter who died first of the family. Then Meili came trotting into the room and hopped onto the alien male's lap to demand pets.
The door to the daughter's room was still shut.
And then I woke up.
#scifi#horror#a dream expanded on slightly as I wrote it down#weird freaking dream#couldn't look at Meili and Paisli the same today at work#unspoken is the Dead Space style implication that they can only see the “ghosts” after they breathed the colony ship's air and got infected#that's also why they can understand the aliens#story#writing#dreams

You have ocs? 👀👀👀👀👀Tell us about them
Yes! I have so many I don't know what to do with them all sometimes!! I won't go through LITERALLY all of them because I must have at least 40 or something at this point (and that is not a joke, I remember counting them all once and I know I got to a number in the 40s lmao) but I will go through the ones that I do the most stuff for.
I’m also going to add in a read more break because even though I don’t talk about ALL of my OCs, I still talk about a decent amount of them and give somewhat chunky descriptions of the main ones.
First of all, I have an entire page on my blog that gives the run down for all of my DnD OCs, including base stats, backstory, the amount of sessions I've played them for etc. Currently I have 15 of the silly little dudes and I have even written a few fics about some of them! They can be found on my AO3.
Next, we've got OCs that are a part of my main writing project: Finders Keepers. This is a book idea that I really hope to write one day, and it actually spawned from a dream I had one night! I remember sitting bolt upright in the morning and thinking " I NEED to write this down" and then I scrambled out of bed and to my laptop to write it all down before I forgot too much. I will say that I had this original dream back in April 2020 and since then it has evolved and grown so SO much (I have a google doc with literally ALL of the info about the plot, characters, the magic mechanics, the enemies etc that currently is 13 pages long. If you're so desperate to look at this document then feel free to DM me for a link!). It follows four teenagers as they discover that there are dark forces in the world that seek to destroy humanity, and obviously they are the ones that need to stop it all and save the world! The four main characters of this and their sort of “main characteristics” are as follows:
Faye Harper, 16, she/her; long golden blonde hair that is often tied back in a messy ponytail, pointed facial features, soft green eyes, tall for her age and tallest of the group, appears to be thin but is surprisingly strong, messy and scruffy in general, un-identical twin sister to Ewan, bit of a horse girl, outdoors-y, adventurous, creative, not afraid of much, explores everything she can (sometimes she explores a little too much and it gets her into trouble), brave and determined, works hard to achieve her goals and sticks to her beliefs and opinions, commanding and stubborn, can be impatient
Ewan Harper, 16, he/him; short and neat-ish blond hair the same shade as his sister, hazel eyes, kinda short for his age and the shortest of the group, chubby, acne, quite strong, a lot neater than his sister, has Pretty Boy potential, un-identical twin brother to Faye, animal nerd, also naturally outdoors-y but not as adventurous, has to get dragged into things by the others, the Mum Friend and the voice of caution, can be a tad childish, will be first on hand to help the others if they get injured, stubborn and rooted, anxious
Skylar Murphy, 16, they/them; black hair that’s cut in a sharp jawline bob with full fringe, warm brown eyes, average height, lean in build but still has a little bit of stock to them due to them being in good shape, small bit of acne, can speak both English and Japanese, English father, Japanese mother, both parents are very strict, casual nerd that mainly enjoys video games and cartoons, also really active and enjoys sports and exercise (especially skateboarding), is on the school’s netball and hockey teams, used to bully others in primary school, the Cool Kid, does not like to appear vulnerable or soft, aggressive and confrontational, determined, daring and quick thinking
Kaden Black, 16, he/him; brown eyes that are so dark they look black sometimes, somewhat round facial features, floofy brown hair that’s cut short except for at the front and sides where it parts in the middle into cheekbone-length curtains, acne, short but not as short as Ewan, average in build but a little on the larger side, broad shoulders, large round glasses, biggest nerd of the group and is into literally everything (particularly Star Wars, Bill and Ted), enjoys cosplay, history buff that enjoys researching things, absolutely riddled with ADHD, impulsive, eccentric fashion sense, chill and goes with the flow, can be impatient sometimes, good listener, fun sense of humour
And then I have to also mention an important side character called The Keeper (real name is Waylon Foster), 56, he/him; wears a grey turtleneck jumper, thin black-brimmed reading glasses, fluffy grey hair, light grey facial scruff that is just a shade or two lighter than his hair, stocky but not exaggerated in build (has a bit of a dad bod), strong but also a little soft facial features, fairly tall, has an Anakin Skywalker-style scar over his right eye, soft and kind blue-grey eyes that don’t look Quite Right, the 'Old and Tired Mentor', Dad Energy, enjoys reading and learning new skills, good at teaching and communicating, soft, kind, caring, gentle and patient, aggressively protects the kids no matter the cost, can’t quite remember How To Human properly, quiet, humble, a little bit shy and reserved, sometimes can get lost in his thoughts
So that’s brushing the surface of Finders Keepers! Next, my other main creative project with OCs: The Van Helsing Project. This I would love to turn into an animated TV show, and this also has a large google doc of everything although it’s only 5 pages long (tbh it’s mainly just character descriptions and basic plot, I need to add stuff to it). This is about the grandson of the infamous Abraham Van Helsing continuing the family tradition of hunting monsters, and forming a team to aid him in this endless mission. I basically like to call it 1930s Scooby Doo but for adults because it has the same sort of format hehe. It was inspired by a couple of my absolute favourite films, Van Helsing (2004) and The Mummy (1999), as well as my favourite TV show, Jekyll and Hyde (ITV, 2015). Anyway here’s the gang and their main characteristics:
Abdiel Van Helsing, early 30s, he/him; character design and personality is loosely based on Rick O’Connell from The Mummy: shortish messy hair, side parting, thick and short sideburns, Obi Wan Chestnut’ in colour, bright green eyes that are almost unnaturally bright, a fairly strong and square jawline but not exaggerated, short scruff facial hair that’s slightly darker than his hair, thick and scruffy eyebrows but also not exaggerated, large scar diagonally across the nose as well as plenty of others on the body, strong and chunky in build but again not exaggerated, tall, wide grin, complete himbo but has a decent knowledge on a lot of monsters and how to hunt them, no actual superpowers but he’s just naturally talented and well trained, has ADHD, can be a bit too cocky for his own good but in an oddly charming way, care-free, playful and energetic, gets along with most people, casually flirts with pretty much anyone if he finds them attractive enough
Mary Frankenstein, early 30s, she/her; long bright ginger hair that is tied back in a high-ish ponytail with a sweeping side fringe, pale skin, lots of freckles, pale blue-grey eyes, pointed face and nose that is a little hooked in shape, large round glasses, gold cross-shaped earrings as well as a gold cross necklace, thin and average in height, shoulders slightly wider than hips, zoologist and cryptozoologist, wants to find out how monsters tick, how to kill them more effectively and how to cure and rehabilitate monsters if possible, can handle herself in a fight easily, confident, thoughtful and thorough, smart and intelligent, stern and serious, no nonsense attitude, blunt, cold and harsh (especially to those who don’t know her very well), develops feelings for Abdiel but really does not want to tell him about them
Quincey Harker, mid 30s, he/him; character design inspired by Keanu Reeves’ portrayal of Jonathan Harker (as if this version of John was Quincey’s dad): collarbone length straight black hair that is often tied back in a loose ponytail with shorter swoopy bits at the sides and complete with widow’s peak, somewhat pale skin, long and rounded face and nose, thin features, defined jawline, warm brown eyes, three large ‘claw mark’ scars over the left side of his face from the cheekbone to the chin as well as lots of other scars over the body, body is thin and lean but still somewhat muscular, tall and is a few inches taller than Abdiel, Protective Older Brother energy, grew up alongside Abdiel due to the Van Helsings and the Harkers keeping in touch and visiting each other frequently, also continued the family tradition of hunting monsters, quiet, calm, reserved, considerate, chilled out, has the capability to be chaotic and stupid because he’s sometimes enabled by Abdiel, good at picking up on other people’s emotions, good at comforting and looking after others, plays a big part in matchmaking Abdiel and Mary since both of them refuse to believe that the other could possibly like them
Cynthia Lanyon, late 20s, she/her; character design inspired by TGS Lanyon: soft brown skin, average in build but with surprisingly squishy cheeks, round and bright eyes that are a soft dark brown in colour, small and rounded features, dark brown ringlet curly hair that is fairly short and surprisingly well kept, almost always has a pair of goggles on her head (brass or copper in colour with varying colours of lenses), short, hourglass body, makes gadgets and weapons for Abdiel and others to use, knows chemistry, alchemy and mechanics, is autistic, shy and nervous with people to start out with but becomes cheerful and friendly once she gets to know others, very much at home in her workshop, enjoys telling people about the things she’s made, she can manage in a fight but will always be looking for a way out of it, prefers to be The Guy In The Chair, talks rather fast, easily anxious, creative and thoughtful, always tinkering with something
Charlotte ‘Charlie’ Talbot; this character I haven’t properly developed yet, but her basic concept is she’s the team’s medical professional who wants to help and heal people, but during the show she becomes a werewolf and has to try and deal with these new animalistic and aggressive behaviours that she absolutely hates
Detective Samuel Drake, early 60s, he/him; shortish salt and pepper hair that has a bit of a curl to it, thick and angular moustache of the same colour as his hair, the beginnings of sideburns, bushy eyebrows, strong features including a prominent nose that has clearly been broken in the past, washed out blue eyes, rounded face and jawline, rectangular rimless glasses that are always pushed right up to the bridge of his nose, average in height and build but definitely has a bit of a Dad Bod going on, is not one of the main hunting party/group and works for the British police and is pretty much one of the very few people in the police that know about Abdiel’s unique job so does his best to make sure that Abdiel and his team don’t get into too much trouble, childhood friend of Abdiel’s mother, friendly and witty, focuses completely on the task at hand and becomes stern and serious, has a very good moral compass and makes sure that people know this by breaking the 4th wall and lecturing the audience while staring directly at the camera (the other characters don’t even know that there is a 4th wall to break so they are greatly confused by this behaviour)
Next I’m just gonna list some OCs that aren’t a part of these main three things, some are independent and some are for already existing media. I’m also not going to go in as much detail as the ones above (because this post is long enough already lmao):
Drew Hunter, an Outlast OC that becomes a werewolf and is admitted to Mount Massive Asylum by his sister Sarah. Turns out the asylum has a whole section for those who suffer from clinical lycanthropy as well as actual lycanthropy. All of these patients are treated by the cold-hearted and oddly soft-spoken Doctor Zachery Baines. I have written one fic about how Drew was sent to Mount Massive on my AO3 and I do have another WIP of him meeting Dr Baines but I honestly don’t know if I’ll ever finish that one lmao. Maybe one day, we shall see.
Oscar Hart, a BBC Ghosts OC who is a medieval ghost that died during a training accident on the grounds that would become Button House. He desperately wanted to join the next crusade but he was always kinda clumsy and accident prone, so he never made it. I have a tumblr post giving the run down on this sweet boy.
Lucid Dream and Canine King, who are Killjoy OCs. Spawned from my reawakened obsession with My Chemical Romance this year, I decided to finally delve into and understand the Danger Days lore. Lucid Dream actually was a pre-existing OC from when me and some friends played the Cyberpunk tabletop game once (they were just called Dream back then), but that campaign died a year or two ago and since then this OC had been left; they’d gotten dusty. So upon deciding to make Killjoy OCs I went “hold on a second, Dream would fit so perfectly into this universe” so I gave them a makeover and now they’re a Fabulous Killjoy. Canine King is an originally made Killjoy and tbh I haven’t developed them much, but they’re kind of a sona, and also kind of me going “hey what if we added werewolves to this universe”, because putting werewolves into everything is kinda my thing.
Elizabeth Wolfe, an OC for The Glass Scientists, a lodgersona that I made back when everyone was making funky little lodger versions of themselves. Ironically I’ve kind of fallen off TGS but I do still really enjoy Elizabeth and her tiny reanimated dinosaurs. I have two fics on her becoming a member of the Society and the antics that ensure on my AO3.
Charles Starr, an eccentric mad scientist that basically spawned from me thinking one day “hey Charlie Day would play a really good mad scientist”. So basically he’s a combination of Charlie Kelly and Newt who’s been thrown into that stereotypical mad scientist vibe like Doc Brown from Back To The Future. He’s a flexible OC, like I can put him into different universes for fun, so he’s definitely going to feature in The Van Helsing Project at least once.
Emily and Gayle, who were part of my original writing project that I had before Finders Keepers. This was actually also based on a dream! The concept was basically ‘Good Omens Except With Vampires And Werewolves’. Emily is a werewolf and Gayle is a vampire, both have gone to university at the same time and have ended up being in the same halls. It takes them far too long to realise that the other is a supernatural creature and therefore hilarity ensues. When they do finally realise though, they decide to team up and become best friends (eventually more than friends) as Emily is no longer in a werewolf pack and Gayle left their old vampire clan long ago. I do still want to write this one day because I think it’ll be fun!
Max and Kit, two pirates that also spawned from a dream. Max and his nonbinary wife Kit co-captain a pirate ship together, and with their faithful crew they explore the world. They also have a pet hippocampus!
Canine Anarchy, a band formed of 5 werewolves (hey look more werewolves, I do so much shit with werewolves, everything is better with werewolves), Kyle on guitar and lead vocals, Daniel on base guitar and backing vocals (although he does do lead vocals sometimes), Ash on guitar who does all of the cool and technical riffs and melodies, Amy on lead/backing vocals and keyboard, Ellie on drums and backing vocals. These guys have been bouncing around my head since I was a teenager, because I came up with them during long car journeys. I would stare out of the window and imagine this band playing all of the songs I listened to on these long journeys. In terms of the music they play, well I was an emo teenager so you can already imagine the kind of bands I was listening to. The reason I’ve added them to this list (because I wasn’t planning on adding OCs I came up with before I was 16), is because I recently gave them a makeover. Some of them have new names and new designs and I’ve finally found a name for the band that I actually like!
So yeah that’s a decent amount of my OCs! I always have some of these funky little dudes spinning around in my head at all times, mostly it’s either the DnD ones, Finders Keepers, or The Van Helsing Project, but the others get turns too occasionally! And obviously I am always down to talk about ANY of them.
#hey I finally wrote everything out and answered!#this has been sat in my drafts for too long lmao#I always put off shit like this even though I enjoy it sjghjg#anyway#ocs#beef speaks#ask

Why Augusta’s Batting Cages Are Perfect for Kids and Beginners
Whether your child is just starting out in baseball or softball, or you’re an adult beginner looking to improve your skills, batting cages Augusta provide an excellent environment for players of all ages and skill levels. For kids and beginners, batting cages offer a safe, controlled, and stress-free space to practice the fundamentals of hitting, build confidence, and develop a love for the game. Here’s why Augusta’s batting cages are the perfect place for young players and beginners to hone their skills.
1. Safe and Controlled Environment
One of the primary reasons batting cages Augusta are ideal for kids and beginners is the safe, controlled environment they provide. Unlike outdoor fields where players can get distracted by outside factors or run into potential hazards, batting cages offer a focused space where players can concentrate solely on their swings. The machines pitch balls consistently at various speeds, ensuring that players can face a manageable challenge without the risk of wild pitches or injury. This predictability helps build confidence and keeps the experience enjoyable for new players.
2. Adjustable Pitching Machines for Different Skill Levels
Another great feature of batting cages Augusta is the ability to adjust the speed of the pitching machines. This is particularly helpful for beginners and younger players who might not yet be able to hit fast pitches. Many batting cages offer machines that can pitch at slow speeds for those just starting out, allowing them to focus on proper mechanics without feeling overwhelmed. As players progress and build their skills, they can gradually increase the pitch speed, providing a structured path for improvement. This flexibility ensures that players of all skill levels can benefit from the experience, whether they are swinging at slow or fast pitches.
3. No Pressure or Competition
For kids and beginners, batting cages offer a no-pressure environment to practice at their own pace. Unlike games where the stakes are high, batting cages allow players to focus on their form and technique without the fear of failure or judgment. This relaxed atmosphere is perfect for building confidence and learning at a comfortable rate. Since there’s no need to worry about performance in front of teammates or spectators, kids and beginners can experiment with different techniques and learn from their mistakes without added stress.
4. Fun and Engaging for Kids
While batting practice is a serious part of improving one’s skills, it’s also important for kids to have fun while learning the game. Batting cages Augusta make the practice enjoyable by providing a fun and interactive experience. Many batting cage facilities feature additional attractions, like arcade games, mini-golf, or snack bars, making them a great destination for family outings. This combination of practice and play helps kids stay motivated and excited about the sport, fostering a positive experience that encourages them to keep coming back and improving.
5. Convenience and Accessibility
For parents and beginners, the convenience of batting cages Augusta cannot be overstated. These facilities are typically open year-round, offering flexible hours that accommodate busy schedules. Whether you're looking for a quick practice session after school or a weekend activity, batting cages provide a convenient location to fit practice into your routine. Since you don’t need a full team or a large field, it’s easier to get started and make steady progress, even if you’re just learning the basics.
Conclusion
In conclusion, batting cages Augusta offer a perfect training ground for kids and beginners who are looking to develop their baseball or softball skills in a supportive and fun environment. With adjustable pitching machines, a safe space for practice, and the opportunity to build confidence without the pressure of competition, Augusta’s batting cages are the ideal place to get started in the sport. Whether you’re looking to improve your swing, learn the fundamentals, or simply have fun, batting cages in Augusta provide everything needed to foster a love for the game and improve your skills.

Housekeeping for Busy Families in Dade City: Tips and Tricks
In the fast-paced world of work, school activities, and social commitments, keeping a clean and organized home can feel overwhelming, especially for busy families in Dade City, Florida. With its warm climate and outdoor lifestyle, families here often have extra challenges like sandy floors, outdoor gear, and lots of activity. But maintaining a tidy home doesn’t have to be a time-consuming chore. Here are some practical tips and tricks to help your family stay on top of housekeeping, even when time is tight.
1. Embrace a Cleaning Schedule
Creating a cleaning schedule that works for your family is key. Instead of leaving cleaning tasks to the weekend, spread them out across the week. Assign small, manageable tasks to each day. For instance, on Mondays, focus on laundry; on Tuesdays, tackle the bathrooms; and so on. This prevents chores from piling up and becoming overwhelming. You can also set aside 15–20 minutes each day for a family-wide quick clean, where everyone tidies their own areas or completes a small chore.
2. Declutter Regularly
Clutter is the enemy of a clean home. One of the best ways to stay organized is to reduce the amount of stuff in your house. Dedicate time once a month or every few weeks to declutter. Go through closets, toys, and household items, and donate or discard things you no longer use. A more minimalist approach can make cleaning quicker and less daunting.
3. Create Cleaning Zones
Divide your home into zones, and assign specific areas to each family member. For example, one person can handle the living room, while another takes care of the kitchen. If you have kids, make sure their zones are age-appropriate. This method not only ensures that the whole house is covered, but it also fosters a sense of responsibility and teamwork within the family.
4. Make Use of Shortcuts and Cleaning Tools
Take advantage of modern cleaning tools that can save you time. For busy families, a robotic vacuum cleaner can be a lifesaver for keeping floors dirt- and dust-free between deep cleans. Microfiber cloths are great for quick wipe-downs, while multipurpose cleaners can help you tackle different surfaces in one go. Consider investing in a steam mop for deep cleaning floors without using harsh chemicals.
5. Practice the “Clean as You Go” Rule
Teaching everyone in the family to clean as they go is a simple but highly effective habit. For example, encourage kids to put their toys away after playing, have everyone rinse their dishes and load them into the dishwasher immediately after meals, and get in the habit of wiping down bathroom counters after use. These small actions prevent messes from building up throughout the day.
6. Use Laundry Hacks
Laundry can pile up fast, but a few tricks can help you stay on top of it. Try doing one load a day instead of letting laundry accumulate for the weekend. Set up sorting baskets for whites, colors, and delicates to streamline the process. Assign laundry duties to older kids or other family members, and don’t hesitate to simplify your routine by using wrinkle-free or low-maintenance fabrics.
7. Prioritize High-Traffic Areas
If you’re short on time, focus your cleaning efforts on high-traffic areas like the kitchen, living room, and bathrooms. These are the spaces that tend to accumulate the most dirt and clutter. Keeping these areas clean will give your home a fresher look and feel, even if other parts of the house aren’t as tidy.
8. Get the Whole Family Involved
Housekeeping isn’t just a parent’s job—it should be a team effort. Assign age-appropriate chores to your kids, such as putting away their toys, making their beds, or helping with meal cleanup. Involving everyone not only lightens your load but also teaches kids valuable life skills and fosters a sense of responsibility.
9. Plan for Regular Deep Cleans
While daily tidying helps keep your home in order, it’s essential to plan for deeper cleaning sessions. Set aside time once a month to focus on bigger tasks, like cleaning baseboards, dusting ceiling fans, or scrubbing tile grout. Alternatively, consider hiring professional cleaning services for a thorough deep clean every few months.
10. Simplify Meal Prep and Cleanup
Meal times can create a lot of mess in a busy household. To make things easier, try meal prepping on weekends or on a slow evening. Preparing meals in advance reduces cooking messes during the week. You can also use one-pot or sheet pan recipes to minimize dishwashing. After meals, have everyone pitch in with clearing the table, wiping surfaces, and loading the dishwasher to make cleanup quick and easy.
11. Stay Flexible and Realistic
Life with kids is unpredictable, and no matter how well-organized you are, some days will get away from you. Accept that your house won’t always be spotless, and that’s okay! Adjust your expectations based on your family’s schedule and energy levels. The goal is to create a comfortable, happy home, not a picture-perfect one.
Conclusion
For busy families in Dade City, keeping a clean and organized home doesn’t have to be stressful. By following these tips—like establishing a routine, involving the whole family, and making smart use of time-saving tools—you can maintain a tidy home without sacrificing your precious family time. Remember, consistency is key, and a little effort every day can lead to a more organized and peaceful living space for everyone.
