Just in: Obi-Datti Campaign Council confirms Obi’s arrest, detention in UK
The Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Office has confirmed that the Labour Party (LP), presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Obi, was arrested and detained on arrival at the Heathrow Airport by UK Immigration officials on April 7, over a case of mistaken identity. The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Paul University, Awka, Anambra State, Prof. Chinyere Okunna, had in a post on her Facebook page on Wednesday, narrated how Obi told her of his ordeal in London and the harassment he has been facing from powerful politicians in Nigeria to force him to flee from the country. While reacting to the story, spokesman for the Campaign Council, Diran Onifade, in a statement on Wednesday, confirmed that Obi was detained and questioned for an identity duplication offense, which adds credence to Prof. Okunna’s allegations that someone has been impersonating Obi in London. In the statement, Onifade said Obi had arrived the Heathrow Airport in London from Nigeria on Good Friday, April 7, 2023, and joined the queue for the necessary airport protocols when he was accosted by immigration official who handed him a detention note and told him to step aside. “He was questioned for a long time and it was very strange for a man who lived for over a decade in that country. “Since Obi’s face was already an international frame, especially for Nigerians, Africans home, and in Diaspora who are likely to be Obidients, the people quickly raised their voices wondering why he was being delayed.” Onifade said the situation was saved by the spontaneous reaction of Nigerians at Heathrow Airport who were ready to create a scene over Obi’s detention. He further explained that the immigration officials who were also taken aback at the reaction of the people were forced to reveal to those present Obi was being questioned. “Since the impersonator is still at large, the scenario is unimaginable as Obi could be implicated in a series of forbidden acts and even be framed in a manner that could be a huge embarrassment to him, his family, his party, the Obidient Movement, and indeed Nigeria, where he currently and indisputably remains the conscience of the people. “Obi’s telephone line was also bugged when they were possibly looking for information to portray him badly before a section of the country who had voted for him massively. “As if they were not getting the desired results of denting his image, and possibly placing the traducers under a heavier conscience load, they tried to persuade him to leave the country and go take a rest. “It’s also not impossible that those urging him to leave the country may have planted the impersonators ostensibly to tar the Eagle’s immaculate appearance,” Onifade said, adding, that Obi has been under all kinds of attack, since the February 25th presidential election. “Even the Federal Government who directed him to go to court over the result of the election despatched the Minister of Information, Lai Mohammad, to the United States to attempt at de-marketing him and accused him of treason. “The Obi-Datti Media office will like to therefore assure all persons of goodwill especially the Obidients that the Rock is not deterred as he is ready to suffer the pain and remain even more determined to pursue whichever path his creator destined for him in Nigeria.” Read the full article

Akane: What do you mean?
Kaga: It's a form of dishonesty that you are using for self gain or amusement. It's actually quite sophisticated stuff, well done

America’s government shutdown is an act of economic self-harm
BEER BREWERS are facing bottlenecks. Airline passengers are facing queues. Around 800,000 federal employees are not being paid. These are the casualties of America’s government shutdown, which began on December 21st and is now the longest on record. It shows few signs of ending; its costs are climbing.
Get our daily newsletter

Historically, such shutdowns seem barely to have budged the juggernaut that is the American economy. Economists at the Bureau of Economic Analysis (BEA) estimated that the 16-day funding lapse in October 2013 lowered real GDP growth in that quarter by 0.3 percentage points. This time, as only around 40% of federal employees are affected, most estimates of the weekly impact are even smaller. Economists at Moody’s, a rating agency, reckon that for each week it continues, the dent to GDP growth will be 0.04 percentage points.
There are reasons to think that these numbers understate the impact of the shutdown. Kevin Hassett, chairman of the Trump administration’s Council of Economic Advisers, said on January 15th that after taking into account unpaid government contractors, his officials had recently doubled their estimates to a hit worth 0.1 percentage points per week. Congress has passed legislation to ensure that federal employees receive back pay. Although the government will have to pay its contractors (with interest) once the shutdown ends, in the past many of those companies did not pass the cash along to workers.
Another caveat is that these figures measure the economic impact of the shutdown by valuing the public services that the government is no longer paying for. When the government reopens, the assumption is that GDP will be bumped up by roughly the same amount it was depressed by, with few lasting effects.
This is quite a narrow view of the impact of shutting down government functions that support other economic activity. The closure of the Tax and Trade Bureau, for example, means that no new labels for nationally distributed beer can be approved, creating a headache for John Laffler of Off Color, an Illinois-based brewer. He wants to launch a new beer, and is keen to package it as soon as possible. He could gamble, pay for packaging and hope that the approval arrives. But that is risky, as there is no knowing what the regulators will approve. (He recalls a droopy-eyed fish being rejected. Demonic ladies dancing with goats were fine.) A wrong decision would cost him money.
Beyond beer, the Securities and Exchange Commission has stopped reviewing IPO filings. Employees at the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), who run airport security checks, on January 16th reported unscheduled absences at a national rate of 6.1%, higher than the 3.7% rate a year earlier. Gummed-up airports cost passengers time and airlines money.
Then there is the hardship faced by workers who are not being paid. In past shutdowns the impact on consumption was softened, as people expected them to be temporary and in the event they were brief. This one has lasted longer, and the poorest among those affected may not have savings to dip into. Mr Hassett says one of his employees is driving for Uber to make ends meet. Thousands of people are worried about losing housing subsidies. Regulators have instructed banks to work with borrowers and extend credit if necessary. But such services are unlikely to be free.
The longer the shutdown lasts, the harder it will be to escape its teeth. On January 11th the TSA announced that employees will be treated to a $500 bonus and a day’s pay. The US Department of Agriculture is handing out food stamps for February early, to avoid tens of millions of Americans going without that month. If such loopholes run out, and the shutdown extends until March, then payments for food stamps worth $4.8bn per month will cease flowing. According to the economists at Moody’s, that alone would sap GDP by $8.2bn per month, given how quickly it would bite into spending. Shutdowns are non-linear: one that lasts twice as long will incur more than twice the cost.

Do they know what 'dignity' means?
MARIAM MOKHTAR Published: Today 7:38 am | Modified: Today 7:38 am
COMMENT | Do the organisers of last Sunday's "Malay Dignity Congress" know what the word, 'dignity', means?
The Kongres Maruah Melayu was not a congress in dignity. It was anything but dignified. The organisers were less than honourable. The congress was a contest to massage Malay egos and admire the best sabre-rattlers.
The congress was jointly organised by Universiti Malaya, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris, Universiti Putra Malaysia and Universiti Teknologi Mara.
Academicians have no business wasting taxpayers' money on this futile event. In the end, this congress gave us a spectacular display of the insecurity of Malay leaders, academicians, students and religious preachers. Advertisement The order of the day was race-baiting, grandstanding, belittling the non-Malays, whilst at the same time, making five demands relating to politics, religion, the economy, education and culture for the Malays.
Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad and some leaders from Amanah, Bersatu and PKR attended the event. They gave the congress the legitimacy that the organisers were desperate to have. Shame on these Pakatan Harapan leaders!
The political discourse in multiracial Malaysia has been hijacked by racist and corrupt Malays. Malays who lack integrity. Malays who are happy to stick knives into the backs of their fellow Malays, if it will bring them power, wealth and position.
A number of them are already on trial for corruption, and more are in the long queue, soon to be brought to justice.
The shame is not so much that these Malays have stolen the rakyat's money. The greater shame is that so many Malays still live in denial and think that rich Malays, senior Malay politicians and the scions of wealthy and noble families cannot be guilty of stealing, of injustice or of committing crimes.
Centuries of Malay upbringing in terhutang budi (debt of gratitude) has crippled the Malay sense of reasoning, especially if he is a beneficiary of a corrupt system.
In politics, there was a call for leading positions to be held by Malays, and for institutions like the Bar Council, Suhakam and liberal NGOs to stop meddling in Islamic matters.
Can the congress's audience have forgotten so quickly? In GE14, the rakyat brought down the previous government, in which Malay leaders, who occupied all the top positions in government and in GLCs like Felda, Mara and Tabung Haji, swiped the rakyat's money. Are the Malays gluttons for punishment? Or are they too stupid to learn from past mistakes?
People and institutions do not wish to meddle in Islamic matters. More importantly, it is the brand of Islam that is practised in Malaysia, and propagated by Jakim, that has invaded our private lives, including those of the non-Muslims.
There was a call for vernacular schools to be abolished because they do not promote unity. The person who suggested this is both blind and ignorant.
The standard of education in government schools is abysmal. The acts of racism in governments schools, both from students and teachers, are increasing. The quality of teaching and the level of discipline are appalling. Which parents would want to destroy their child's future?
The ignorance about Peninsular Malaya's early history, shown by the participants and organisers, especially the congress's chief executive, Zainal Kling is mind-boggling.
Did they ever stop to think about how the economy of Malaya/Malaysia was founded? Chinese traders and Indian spice merchants established the Silk Road and the monsoon sailing routes, several centuries ago.
Over the past 200 years, Chinese miners and Indians working in the estates, formed the backbone of our economy, in rubber and tin. Let's be clear, without the British importing extra labour from China and the Indian sub-continent, business and money would not have come to Malaya.
A similar scenario was enacted in East Malaysia, which also benefited from the discovery of oil in Sarawak. The important ingredient which brought money, business and trade to Malaysia, was brought by the non-Malays, foreigners and kaffirs.
Malaysia's reputation has been severely dented by disgraced Najib Abdul Razak's kleptocracy. Malaysia's status as a moderate Muslim nation has also taken a dive, with the proliferation of extremist preachers who are wannabe politicians, and politicians who are wannabe preachers. We are well on the way to becoming an extremist Muslim country.
The Malay organisers demanding Malay and Muslim dominance in politics, religion, education, economy and culture do not understand that affirmative action policies have not worked and should be discontinued.
In the two decades after their introduction, the affirmative action policies may have contributed to an increase in middle-class Malays, but today, they only give Malays a sense of entitlement. The Malays have become arrogant, spoilt, irrational and they ignore the long-term consequences of a nation where they are mollycoddled.
In the end, Malay nationalists and Muslim extremists do the nation much harm. Foreign investors will bypass us, and we will lose out to the Indo-Chinese nations of Cambodia and Vietnam.
The bottom line is this - without the hard work, dedication and commitment of the non-Malays and non-Muslims, Malaysia would be an even less developed country.
The congress was also a study in stupidity. The Malays at the event failed to realise that Malaysia will become prosperous once again, only when all the races are treated as equals.
The Malay congress focused on navel-gazing and massaging one another's egos.

Cam ni dok kata gomen anti-Melayu pi mampuih buang....
Mananya empayar Perniagaan Bumiputera ? Agensi Bumiputera ni seronok buat Event..Buat seminar.. Tapi Bani Melayu masih merempat berniaga sana sini.. Berniaga Tepi Jalan..Buatlah kempen BMF pun tak guna kalau takda sokongan yang jelas dari Kerajaan dan Institusi Pembiayaan...
Tengok Al-Arqam (Global Ikhwan)... Mana pernah diumumkan Peruntukan untuk depa setiap tahun, Tapi Empayar perniagaan depa berkembang setiap tahun... Jadi Jangan salahkan bukan Islam, salahkan Cina atas kegagalan orang melayu, Nak boikot sana sini..Belajar salahkan diri sendiri.. Rasanya Kerajaan dah sedia pelbagai Agensi, Pelbagai Dana.. Tetapi tetap gagal.. Apa puncanya ? Ini yang kerajaan PH kena ubah..jangan dok ikut cara Kerajaan BN dan UMNO urus bantuan kepada Bani Melayu..- Ipohmali

How to Go the CLEP Spanish Check
Operating through the hub of the sleepy town wherever I are now living in the Upper Costa Blanca, just today, I withstood a other motorist moving in to a U-turn, over the twin carriageway. Well why not you may ask? Effectively, possibly it would surprise you to master he was also negotiating his U-turn between two bollards, spaced around an inch each side of his vehicle, around a pedestrian crossing marked with red lines, found around a rate bump, detailed with pedestrian attempting to website . Passing drivers were therefore pleased which they stopped to get a better view. I mentioned the queue of cars behind this intrepid flouter of most traffic regulations and hoped to obtain a greater look at him whenever we surely got to the traffic lights, and I might have, had he stopped at the red gentle, but he only held going.. In a certain the main Previous Area, only a hundred or so meters from the location I just stated, you will find some traffic lights which display green in equally guidelines, including the pedestrian crossing light. There's a street café perhaps not far across the street where you are able to drink your day coffee, read the magazine, and view the near miss path accidents at the lights. The question of crap has been resolved with some seriousness within our town. It absolutely was decreed time before that in order to maintain a natural and balanced world, it was necessary to have a recycling policy. Therefore the Community Council start appointing councilors to be in change of utilizing recycling policies and educating local citizens to split up magazines, packages, glass, plastic presentation etc. All the containers were then collected by the trash trucks and emptied in to one landfill site. Hmm. Spot the catch in this program.. In poor temperature, and by poor climate I mean torrential water and winds, the streets inside our little area flooding very quickly, so much so that it is difficult to see the trail underneath the dull water. As soon as the heavy water starts to puddle, the neighborhood police eliminate most of the manhole addresses in the trail, to help the drainage. Yes, the manhole covers are now actually in the street, so it is really probable you'll get into one and damage your car. When I complained to a Spanish man in regards to the wisdom of uncovering enormous holes in the trail, he recommended the obligation dropped upon the driver to truly have a vehicle so scarred with dents and scores that driving into a manhole could incur no longer damage. I must state I had not regarded this option. Throughout fiestas, everybody works out to view the fireworks and have a party. The fireworks usually have the ability to take up a serious fireplace in somebody's roof and the insurance costs run to many 1000s of euros. Through the height of the parties categories of teenage boys explain to you the streets tossing fire cookies underneath dresses and up trouser feet, it's all very exciting and in the event that you thing to such behavior you are considered to become a tiny poor sport. I'm no longer amazed or surprised when the garage worker continues to smoking his cigarette though filling my reservoir with petrol. After all, I have been here for six years and I haven't been involved with an explosion, have I? Not yet anyway..
