Purple-throated Fruitcrow (males) - Querula purpurata
Though having the size and shape of a small crow, the Purple-throated Fruitcrow, Querula purpurata (Passeriformes - Cotingidae), is not a crow but a cotinga species, in which males have a deep purple throat patch extending to the side of the neck.
The Purple-throated Fruitcrow is the only species of cotinga that is social, occurring in noisy groups of 3-8 birds and is the only member of its family to breed cooperatively.
This species has a large range, from Bolivia and Brazil north into Central America.
