Hi! Waige + 21 "No one has a heart of stone."

Walter looked at his and Paige’s hands entangled together as his girlfriend slept soundly on top of him. It had been their third intimate night together since they declared their love, and Walter was still wondering if he was dreaming. It was quite possible; he hallucinated of their confession once; who was to say it couldn’t happen again? 

But as he shifted slightly and craned his neck to see the woman’s peaceful features, he knew he couldn’t be dreaming. No dream version of Paige was as beautiful as the woman in his arms. He leaned forward a little and pressed a gentle kiss to her crown and smiled as she hummed softly in response. 

How had he lived without her by his side for so long? 

Charles Darwin once said that “a scientific man ought to have no wishes, no affections, - a mere heart of stone.” 

Five years ago, Walter believed him. Five years ago, he had never known what love felt like. Five years ago, his heart was simply a circulatory muscle. Five years ago, he, himself, had a heart of stone. 

But, once Paige and Ralph came into his life, things changed drastically for him. 

Eventually, as he fell hard for Paige Dineen, Darwin’s statement became more and more inadequate. Walter fell more in love with Paige with each passing day, and he was discovering just how limitless love can be. 

Paige stirred a little and lift her head slightly, her half-open eyes meeting his. “You’re still awake?” 

Walter nodded with a smile. “Just thinking.” 

Paige yawned before leaning over to press a kiss over his heart. “What about?” 

The genius laughed quietly. “If I told you now, you wouldn’t remember in the morning. You’re barely awake.” 

She yawned again and smacked her lips together. “I suppose you’re right.” She lowered herself back down on top of him and rested her cheek on top of his shoulder before placing a gentle kiss on his neck. “Get some sleep, Walter.” 

“I will,” he combed his fingers through his girlfriend’s silky, smooth hair. “I promise.” 

“Good,” her voice was almost incoherent, “Love you, Walt.” 

“I love you, too,” Another warm smile colored his lips. “Good night My Little Arrhythmia.” 

“Mhmm,” she hummed sleepily as she snugged closer to him. “Good… night… nerd… boy.” 

With his right arm encircling around her waist, he scooted forward a little bit before lying down, flat on his back. Paige readjusted naturally, wrapping one of her legs over his. 

Walter was glad Darwin was wrong.

119. Favourite book?

I’m not sure I have one tbh! But I can give some that I enjoyed. Elsewhere by Gabrielle Zevin, and Annie On My Mind by Nancy Garden were two great ones. I was also intrigued by A Long Way Gone: Memoirs of a Boy Soldier written by Ishmael Beah, and Irish Chain by Barbara Haworth-Attard. Three of them were ones I had to ready for school and I ended up going out and buying myself a copy of each.

144. Dark, milk or white chocolate?

All of it. I will eat all of it. However, I hate SUPER dark chocolate, because some dark chocolate is too bitter.

148. What’s your favourite quote?

Admittedly my favorite quote changes a lot so I can’t say as though I have a specific favorite.

santiago: my favorite font depends on what I’m using it for.  calibri and arial are what I use for gifs where there’s dialogue involved.  for writing, I like calibri and bookman old style.  for stylish gifs, it also depends on the ambiance of what I’m trying to do, but I like angelina and lullabelle

minivan dad: how do you make holy water? you boil the hell out of it!

cheddar: I have a 6 year old former shelter cat named Eliza and a 23 year old horse named Jazz.

32: Do you listen to music when you write or does music inspire you? If so, which band or genre of music does it for you?

I have really fragile concentration, so I don’t normally listen to music when I write. Once or twice I’ve made a fic playlist though, to get my in the writing mood 😊

39: What is you greatest strength as a writer?

Hmm… I feel like I write dialogue really realistically. Like, a lot of authors (not just fic authors; a lot of published authors too) will write dialogue where characters speak in huge, long, eloquent paragraphs, even if it’s just a conversation between friends. And (at least in my experience) that’s just… not how people talk? So I always try to write dialogue and have the characters say things like “like” and “you know”, and speak in run-on sentences, and just generally talk realistically.

50: How did you get into reading and/or writing fanfiction?

I was just thinking about this the other day! The first fandom I was really in was CSI:NY. And one time when my family was on vacation I was up late with nothing to do. I’d heard of fanfiction but never read any, so I decided to google some CSI:NY fanfiction. That was in April of 2014, and I wrote & posted my first fic in May of that year.

Yep, their children are crazy. Sometimes they’re a little too stubborn and a little too hyper and a little too adventurous for their own good. But in moments like this, she can’t seem to mind. Because they’re a little too cute and a little too sweet and a little too loving for their own good, too.
