aka what i say when i realize nora pov or nora related writing has outpaced anything else i've done by several orders of magnitude

i was prompted to check my word count on ch 21 yesterday. which, knowing i have several scenes to write and join with what's been written, i did not expect to be very much. i haven't checked it since that post way back when i was writing 17 or 18 though ive written quite a bit since then

well

it's 12.3k already. and (as i already dodgeballed myself then, ill say it now too) i tentatively predicted 20k as a final. to which the response was 'as a lower limit?'

to which i said 'what? no, as a max'

*cue veryyyyyy long pause as i take inventory on what's missing and do some math*

'oh..... okay maybe as a lower limit yeah'.

me: gods. this chapter feels so short. i have the beginning. i have the heartwrenching end. i'm working on the fluff in the middle. i know all my plot beats at least...

me, miserably: *highlights the chapter & clicks word count* gods that was fast. that was probably what? 3k. godsdamnit. *word count is loading slowly* who am i kidding. it's probably like 2k. maybe 2.5 at most.

me: probably won't even break 5k at this rate-

word count: *loads*

huh.

well, arc 1 being 100k+ is pretty much a foregone conclusion at this point. i'm not AIMING for that, but uh. clearly. that doesn't really matter

happy end of semester to me! i engraved the nora quote that got me through my first phd semester (plus her second symbol and a lightning rim) onto a new water bottle. could not have done it without her honestly. 💞⚡

have been on mobile for a few days. haven't written much. im home and at my laptop and i was curious to see how long ch 6, which is a nora pov chapter, was. since its eeeh maybe 85% finished... i thought it would be 5k or so. it feels longer than ch 3 but i wasn't really sure by how much and well...

it's already 6.6k 😅

this is sweet. of course you can. i put the whole chapter in one doc just for this ask and honestly? thanks bc scrolling through 300+ pages in the main doc was getting annoying on my phone

also had to take a moment to make this because she's at the point where she needed an edit not just a tag

just got on desktop for the first time aince i posted this. immediately had to check...

ch 6 is 3.8k

cool cool. that's reasonable.

ch 7 is *drumroll* 6.2k

finished chapter 6 and immediately split it into two chapters. didn't even check the word count. i already know it's embarrassing.

so i did finish this chapter and let it be known that two weiss chapters are the same length as this one nora chapter 👑

me: oh ill just write a quick chapter around initiation to establish nora as an occasional narrator. it'll be quick and easy! and fun!
