If you're a real Victor Victoria (1982) fan, you outright ignore that extra scene and pretend it never existed. You know the scene. The one where King catches Victoria taking a bath and confirming (to himself and his relief) that his crush "Victor" is a woman. That extra scene completely ruins any and all romantic buildup to King's declaration about not caring about gender and him wanting to be with "Victor". I'm glad they left that scene out in the Broadway musical and I skip it every time I watch the DVD.

Strong female space monsters

If your ideal of a strong female character is the Alien Queen, then I want you to know:

It's not just the queen. Only facehuggers are biologically male.

And what about John Carpenter's The Thing? Genetic material enters it and it produces new life that combines those genes with its own. The Thing is the quintessential form of a female being.
