#Odisha #DRDO conducted a test of #Shaurya missile off the east coast today Shaurya is a 700-1,800 km ranged missile developed by @dpi.drdo. It can carry either a conventional or #nuclear warhead weighing upto 1000kg. It is stored, transported in and launched from a canister, ensuring a longer shelf life, ease in transportation through rough terrain. Being quasi-ballistic in nature, it after an initial boost to gain altitude, it follows a low, flatter trajectory than the ballistic missiles, ensuring a low detection and interception probability. It guarantees a high percentage of successful attack. Moreover, the endo-atmospheric flight makes the helps the missile in maneuvering and correction of trajectory to achieve high accuracy. Shaurya has already been commissioned in the #Indian forces years ago and hence this test amid the #LadakhStandoff between the two armies is seen to as a warning against any possible misadventure by the #Chinese side along the #LineOfActualControl. #iaf_in_ia #aviation #aviationgeek #instagramaviation #India #drdoindia #ballisticmissile #quasiballistic #shauryamissile #indiachinaborderdispute #indiachinastandoff #indiandefence #indianmilitary #defencenews #defenceupdates (at India) https://www.instagram.com/p/CF6w7hrBIYq/?igshid=fuk2c5gwpzoo

An anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) is a military quasiballistic missile system designed to hit a warship at sea. The ASBM's conventional warhead and kinetic energy may be sufficient to cripple or outright destroy a supercarrier with a single hit. However, unlike a nuclear warhead, this will require a direct hit to be effective. Thus, and unlike a typical ballistic missile, which follows a ballistic flightpath after the relatively brief initial powered phase of flight, an ASBM would require a precise and high-performance terminal guidance system, with in-flight updates or advanced sensors in order to hit its moving target by Military Vids
