Florida Coastal Condo Interior Design

Beautifully designed by the talented interior designer Lisa Michael Interiors, LLC (previously featured here – you need to see it!), this vacation condo located in North Palm Beach features resort-style living with Moroccan flair. Here, the designer shares more insights about this project:

“The water club way project is unique in that it transports the homeowners to the feeling of being in an exotic locale. Through the use of color, texture, materials, and specialty paint applications, the finished look pulls from various design genres that coexist together giving the home an eclectic collected feel. The living areas within the condo were designed to create an experience for the homeowners, each possessing its own unique identity and sense of place. The condo has a tropical and exotic feel, but also an ethnic flair with a contemporary bohemian twist.”

Florida Coastal Condo Interior Design

Beginning in the elevator vestibule you are introduced to what lies ahead.

The hand painted stenciled walls in vibrant orange and a shimmery gold wash create a backdrop for a charpoy bench. A large painting with a moody collage of dots mimics the texture of a Moroccan fabric, giving the home a sense of being in an exotic locale.

Entry

Upon entering into the foyer, the walls are saturated in the same vibrant orange that draw the eye up to the mirrored inlay chevron tile and custom Murano glass triple pendant, enveloping the space. A grass cloth entry table sits below a rattan sun shaped mirror adding a sense of whimsy and a tropical touch (Selamat).

In the kitchen, a river shell mosaic tile backsplash was selected to add texture and reflect light while keeping the space serene.

Kitchen Cabinetry: European Cabinetry, white gloss mixed with white washed wood and taupe/gray gloss panels on island.

Breakfast Nook

The light fixtures in the main living space were carefully selected for their natural elements, adding texture and creating a cohesive lighting story. Both the pendants and beaded fixture were custom ordered from Ro-Sham-Beaux I believe that natural elements calm a space and soften the architectural envelope lending a sense of comfort and warmth.

Living Room

The main feature of the living space is the custom designed Moroccan inspired étagère backed by a hand painted and stenciled paisley wall in an indigo blue.

Television console and media piece: Designed by the interior designer. She custom designed the media piece with integrated etagere. Finish is Benjamin Moore Snowfall White and silver leaf.

Accent Wall

The hand painted paisley wall creates interest and depth to the space, while the étagère was designed to house the television, while adding shelving for décor. Other key design elements in the living space are the contemporary dramatic and visually engaging rattan lounge chairs.

Pillows: Custom, Ikat fabric by F.Schumacher.

Coffee Table

The coffee table is an antique Moroccan tray which adds an eclectic vibe sitting upon a handmade imported jute rug adding texture and warmth.

The outdoor area design continues the color story and resort concept outside and connects the interior and the exterior through color. Table was selected for curved lines and cut out detail. Pop of orange on the chair cushions melds with interior orange accents while the Talavera pottery adds ethnic vibe and woven modern rope chair juxtaposes with dining area for interest and texture.

Den

The den has west views of the city and also functions as an additional guest bedroom with a sleeper sofa.

Enveloping the remaining walls is a saturated cobalt blue that plays back to the linen sleeper sofa dressed with exotic textiles found on the throw pillows. A rattan coffee table juxtaposes with a contemporary lacquered grass cloth desk for her husband who works from home. The windows are framed out with custom draperies with a batik leaf print from Robert Allen fabrics.

Color Scheme

The space features an electric orange accent wall displaying a collection of handmade African baskets giving a tribal touch (non-profit-good cause – from “AllAcrossAfrica”).

Coastal-inspired Home Renovation

Moving from NY to Wilmington, NC, this family bought a 1990’s house that required not only a full renovation but also a lot of creativity. To achieve a more relaxed coastal look, they hired the talented designers at Gathered Group, whom, without any hesitation, brought a more welcoming and happier feel to their home.

With a classic coastal color scheme and coastal decor, this place feels current and ready to embrace summer in full motion!

Coastal-inspired Home Renovation

I love homes that feel like a real home and not just a place that was designed to only be looked at. Certain spaces make you feel welcome as soon you open the door and this is certainly one of them. Beautifully done!

The newly-designed cabinets are painted in “Benjamin Moore Simply White”.

Built-ins

The living room features custom built-in cabinets with seat and shiplap. This is a great alternative for living rooms without fireplace.

Deep blues, whites, beige and turquoise accentuates the coastal feel of this home.

Garden Stool

Garden stools are always a convenient and an affordable choice. I love using them as side tables – like we see above – by a tub or outdoors.

Long Beach, California Home Design

When the designers went to see this house, it was already stripped to the studs and ready for a full on remodel. The clients of the talented interior designers at Three Salt Design Co. were staying on their boat in the mean time. As professionals in the banking world, the clients wanted their space to prioritize function and family, but still give the appeal of a bayside getaway with a lot of character. The designers focused on inclusive and functional millwork, sleek contemporary lines and a coastal element throughout that paid homage to the bay and the best part of Long Beach.

“Before & After” California Home Renovation

Wendy Blackband and Rachel Azzolina of the Blackband Design team (previously featured here – a house tour you really can’t miss!) brought this home down to the studs and fully remodeled it into a modern Mediterranean open floor plan with hotel amenities. Their focus was bringing in warmth and comfort while creating additions and new layouts to best suit the homeowners’ lifestyle – including their two daughters Annie and Abbey (Golden Retrievers). Speaking for the pups, their favorite home features would most likely be the built-in food and water dish station in the kitchen island and their under-staircase sleeping nook in the master bedroom complete with a miniature headboard to match their parents. The homeowners recognized the value of investing in quality and luxurious details that they will forever appreciate in their dream home.

Can you believe this is the same house? The older kitchen felt dark and the “old Mediterranean” style had a heavy feel to it.

New Ideas

This home is located in a neighborhood where the houses feature Mediterranean-inspired architecture. It was important for the designers to respect the architectural details but they also wanted to reinvent this style and give it a more modern feel. This modern Mediterranean kitchen is a great example of that.

Keeping it Fresh

Customizing a pet food station in your kitchen island isn’t only a brilliant idea but it also very functional. It’s easy to keep the dogs’ food station fresh and cleaner with a pot filler and by being so close to a sink and the dishwasher.

Marble is Honed Calacatta Eccellente. Say it with an Italian accent.

Living Room “Before”

The space had good bones but everything felt too heavy and outdated with the faux plaster walls and these ugly draperies… sorry.

Oh, much, much better, right?! It seems that you can even breathe better in this room now!

New-Construction Farmhouse with Front Porch

Located in Western Springs, Illinois, and recently completed by Timber Trails Development Company, this new-construction farmhouse has a white exterior, black front door and an inviting front porch. Timber Trails Western Springs is well-known for creating a new subdivision with new-construction homes that are far from being cookie cutter.

With the help of interior designer Julie Howard, these homes, which includes the farmhouse I am sharing with you today, feature a lot of custom details, from custom cabinetry to high ceilings and plenty of shiplap.

This home also features a large mudroom, a large open kitchen and inspiring home decor. I hope this inspires you.

I’ve always wanted a space to use them and they work perfectly here. We had a full length mirror made for the back of the door since there isn’t a traditional mirror over the sink. For a powder room I think it’s perfect and actually better to have a full length option. The vanity is 6′ long and the toilet and door are on the opposite wall.” – Designer Julie Howard.

“We like to have our countertop fabricator cut interesting shapes on backsplashes. I think people forget to ask for this. We often bevel just the edges or make a backsplash taller like 6″ or 8″. The vessel sink is marble. A vessel sink was imperative because the corbels were desk height 30″ and we wanted our sink to be at 36”. “

Corbels

The base corbels were from RH (they don’t sell them anymore) and were meant to hold a piece of glass as a desk. The designer turned the corbels sideways so you could enjoy the beauty of the carving. The top is a slab of Caesarstone in Raw Concrete which perfectly matches the wall color.

California Beach House Interior Design Ideas

If you love the relaxed coastal vibe we find in some of the best California homes, you’re on the right blog! As you probably know by know I tend to feature most of the stunning homes built by Patterson Custom Homes and it’s always a happy day when they send me a new project to share with you guys!

Located in Corona del Mar (don’t you love saying that? :)), this beach house was recently completed and it features many inspiring coastal interior design ideas.

Here, the interior designer, Sydney Levine of WFD Furniture & Interiors (all custom furniture available through her), shares more details about this beautiful project:

“The goal for this home was to create a beautiful, livable coastal chic home with a fun twist. We were able to achieve this goal in collaboration with Patterson Custom Homes & Brandon Architects by incorporating a lot of cozy textures, custom furniture pieces and a mix of blues & neutrals with pops of bright color. The clients really do live in every inch of this home from the indoors to the outdoors!”

It’s easy to fall in love with this classic beach house from the moment you set your eyes on it.

Front Door

This home features custom wooden Dutch-doors.

Classic architectural details, such as the custom balcony railing, rafters and corbels, add a timeless feel to this shingle home.

Copper

Gutters and down spouts are real Copper.

Patterson Custom Homes uses copper because it is a superior material – copper doesn’t react with salt, so it doesn’t deteriorate in the salt air, and since they live on the ocean that’s important! Copper doesn’t rust, it doesn’t need paint and it won’t fall apart. Galvanized metal, which is the standard flashing material used by most builders, simply doesn’t hold up on oceanfront homes. A Patterson Custom Homes has copper flashing on top of all exterior horizontal surfaces for greater waterproofing protection: on exhaust vents, at the deck flashing, where the roof meets the wall, on shade structures, at window and door casings, at the tops of columns, at the tops of gates, at door and window pans, on electrical outlet boxes, at the base of the house, where we put a 12” copper band flashing around the perimeter (going way above and beyond code in the process).

Using copper is one of the many ways that this builder go above and beyond code and ensure their homes are built to last.

Garage

The garage doors are custom, painted Mahogany with clear glass.

Exterior Walls: 6’ high 6” CMU wall with smooth trowel plaster on both sides.

Portico

A portico, with Cedar shake roof and custom columns, add architectural interest to the front entry.

Welcoming

The front entry feels warm and welcoming. I am loving this shade of blue on the front door!

Interiors

This is the beautiful view you have the moment you open the front door. Beams are stain-grade, custom stained to match hardwood flooring.

Beautiful Homes of Instagram: A Builder’s Home

Hello, my friends. How are you doing today? I hope everything is wonderful with you. It’s really great to be back with a “Beautiful Homes of Instagram” feature.

Built by M. Lahr Homes, this home exudes beauty from every angle and it proves that a family home can be stylish. Please, keep reading to know more details shared by the builder and homeowner:

“This is my personal home that we completed earlier this year. My husband and I have been building custom homes for 9 years now. This is our 3rd personal residence together (and our favorite so far), I’m sure there will be more to come! That’s the life of a builder, right?

Important elements were; master bedroom downstairs, a playroom on the first floor, an open floor plan, and a large backyard for our children. Our home is 3600 Sq. Ft. 5 bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms. The lot size is 70×196, which in our area is considered larger than average.

Our last home (which you can also see on our website portfolio, Gerda Terrace) was light, bright, and airy which we loved but we wanted to go in a very different direction with this home and try out a new feeling. We were really craving a more sophisticated look with the feel of a modern hotel. It was very important to us to have the outdoor living space feel like an extension of the inside. We choose a porcelain wood look plank flooring for the entire first floor including the patio. We love the tall windows and transoms in the living, dining and kitchen that bring in natural light. It was important that if we were going to use dark cabinets and flooring that the rooms be abundant in natural light.”

Today, I am happy to be sharing this gorgeous home designed by The LifeStyled Company.

Kristen Forgione, the creator + principal designer, together with LCo lead designers, Kylie Ray and Rachel McCloskey, teamed up with E&S Builders on this project, and the result was stunning! This project was a new build in Paradise Valley, AZ, and the team worked together with the client to make the home all things luxe, chic and organic desert living!
