I’ve been so removed from most Kpop news that you SIMPING over vampire Baekhyun (which is completely understandable) and the music video is how I found out he was out of the military…..

it took me a few days to catch on though. …not until I finally watched the music video last night and halfway through realized he has been discharged.

But because one of them has flown halfway across the world to try and make something of herself for reasons that still have yet to be revealed, she has absolutely no intention of Fucking Around (nor, Finding Out).

..........mmmmmmmThough, she does sometimes have moments where she’s lying in bed at night thinking about one of her best friends and how much she likes him but doesn’t want to fuck their friendship up or even worse, her future because everything is riding on this one moment that she’s thrown everything she has into, and next thing she’s fighting back tears like...

So because each of them is under the impression that the other is completely disinterested in dating in general, they’re both walking around like this:

While at least Johnny, Anna, and Taeyong (so far) have picked up on this. But because the only person who was really worth talking shit about was Luna, they’re all keeping themselves to themselves re: discussing it in the open. (They’re all, also, very busy with classes and shit.)

You and Baekhyun had been secretly dating for almost a year. Up until recently, even SM didn't know of the relationship, so you both poured your heart into it carelessly. When a manager from the company called for you earlier in the week, you assumed your boyfriend requested they allow the relationship to go public, since it's been a recent topic of conversation between the two of you. So, you headed to the company with a weary but hopeful lump in your stomach. However, the moment you walked into the room only to find the manager rather than both him and Baekhyun, your heart sank.

"No matter the cost, we will help you settle somewhere, but we cannot have you distracting Byun Baekhyun anymore. You are not allowed to continue seeing him. You need to pack your things to leave Seoul at the end of the week. We'll even send monthly payments, but you cannot contact him after you leave."

There wasn't even an option. No choice between money or love. Instead, they were simply forcing you to leave and paying you to keep quiet and hidden. So, with a heavy heart and quite a few tears, you packed your things and waited for the car, ignoring the numerous calls from your soon-to-be ex-boyfriend.

When a car pulled up to your house, you instantly stood. When Baekhyun got out rather than the driver you expected, you didn't know what to do, so you froze.

"What's going on? Why is everything packed? Where are you going?"

"I'm leaving, Baekhyun. I'm sorry." You choke back tears as you continue, "I can't keep doing this. Let's break up."

"What?! Why? What did I do? Was I not good enough? Y/N, tell me something!" He grabs your shoulders, hurt and confused, "Did you never even love me?"

You finally make eye contact out of pain from his comment, noticing the tears stream down his cheeks, "I loved you. I lived for you, breathed for you! I loved you more than life itself! So don't you ever say I didn't love you! I always have and still do!"

"Then why?! Why are you leaving me?!"

At that moment, the driver arrives, saving you from breaking down in front of him. You pull away to load your things. Baekhyun recognizes the driver and thinks he understands the situation now, and his voice drops from screaming to a near-whisper.

"Wait... Did they find out? So you had to choose between me or money, right? I thought our love was great. Why wasn't I good enough? Why couldn't we figure it out?"

You hear his voice breaking behind you, but you know that you can't tell him the truth because of the terms his manager gave you, so you don't dare turn around to face him.

As you finish loading your bags, you apologize one last time before getting into the car. You watch him in the mirror as you drive off, seeing him fall to his knees just before the car turns a corner. The moment he leaves your vision, you bawl your eyes out for the remainder of the drive, knowing you'll never meet your lover again.

So yeah, I may have invented these little idiots, figured out what they were going to do, how they were going to do it, what they were going to say - although, writing dialogue sometimes feels like you’re eavesdropping on someone else’s conversation and you’re just trying to write it all down before they leave and you’re left with nothing (I remember Neil Gaiman said something similar and that made me feel a lot better about this because I started wondering if I was going insane) - so like... okay, yeah, technically you’re right.

But, I think that we should write stories we want to read and so I wrote a slow burn because I wanted to read one, which means I AM ALSO SITTING HERE LIKE:

When these idiots - each who is under the impression that the other is uninterested in dating in general - won’t just be like:

(Which, I was worried if I managed to set that up without it feeling forced - I read a lot of fic and I’ve seen instances of “they both like each other but they don’t know the other person likes them back” where it’s very contrived, but I think I managed to do it in a way that feels natural? Please let me know your thoughts.)

So like, I’m the writer and I’m in charge, but everything is written and set in motion at this point so I’m just sitting here like:

Waiting for the cabana boy to come back with my daiquiri because I’m watching these two fools still not being honest about their feelings and they’re both getting on my nerves.

The interpretive dance of memery ends. It was beautiful, glorious. It went through several different fandoms and possibly spans seven decades of TV. the way they were mixed together - stirred and blended as if in a pot of meme gumbo - was both exciting and satisfying. I am covered in sweat, chest heaving as I fight for air. The camera zooms in on me. I pause for a second, confused. But I understand: an Ending Fairy, that’s what the cameraman, the producers, and the audience wants. I give them what they’re waiting for.

(The irony of me taking almost an hour to put this whole thing together when I have a work email I should be writing and sending and I still haven’t done it. I think this is a better use of my time, tbh. At least I’m having fun lol.)
