Galley Gala No. 4 - Saudia
Okay, so Saudia's livery isn't fantastic. But their cabin crew uniforms? Top notch.
I feel like the first thing that pops into a Westerner's mind when considering what a Saudia stewardess might look like is "aren't women in Muslim-majority countries legally required to wear a hair covering?" And the answer for airline cabin crew is not only 'no', but actually a fairly emphatic one. Emirates and Qatar Airways actually both ban the hijab (the hair covering). This means that, if you're hijabi and hoping to be a flight attendant, British Airways or WestJet would be a better choice than the national airlines of countries where the majority of women are hijabi. That's bizarre to me, personally.
(It should be clarified that the majority of these countries actually employ primarily foreign cabin crew; while certainly many Saudia flight attendants would have always been Muslim, they only began hiring Saudi women in 2020. Before this, they were all foreigners. The majority were Filipino, Thai, or Eastern European. This is true of many fields in many countries in the Persian Gulf. The UAE and Qatar also have never required head coverings by law, and from what I've heard non-Muslim foreigners generally just don't wear them.)
Saudia's cabin crew, until 2020, dressed in a very smart blue pantsuit with gold hardware and a crisp white shirt underneath. From the neck down, it is literally just a very nice-looking flight attendant uniform which doesn't come with a skirt option in order to preserve hijab (the concept).
Underneath the jackets, there are these lovely light-looking shirts and matching blue vests. I would, in a heartbeat, wear exactly identical clothing to a pre-2020 Saudia flight attendant, except with different shoes. It's stylish! And it comes with these headpieces which have headscarves attached to them, in order to actually cover the wearer's hair. It's a pretty stylish and clever way to approach the task. The scarf blends really well into the vest without constricting the neck, so if it catches on something in an evacuation the wearer won't be horribly strangled. I fully approve.
In 2020, they released an updated version. In addition to incorporating cabin crew's feedback on comfort and practicality, it updates the appearance to something I think is very chic.
These coats, with the brown gloves and shoes, are gorgeous, and I just adore the new darker blue. These are just downright nice outfits. If you asked me what job these women have, I would not guess that they're flight attendants - I would think they're working in some glamorous, high-profile job. Being a flight attendant in Saudi Arabia is not considered glamorous in the least, but you wouldn't be able to tell it from this updated look.
In addition to the darker blue, the female cabin crew are now given the choice to wear skirts, and their suits are given a belted waist for a very 40s look. I like it a lot. I think these are some of the best looking 'traditional' flight attendant uniforms out there. This has all the features Saudia's livery should have, but doesn't.
Here's something a bit weird, though. I think Saudia may have just banned the hijab*?
*The literal headscarf. The rest of their uniform is still quite hijab-compliant as far as I, a non-Muslim man, can tell.
So, there's this drapey bit. It's pretty similar to Emirates's uniforms (which I will discuss some day). Emirates bans the hijab. Emirates flight attendants are all required to remove their hijab for work, if they wear one. Saudi Arabia, until 2018, required all women, including non-Muslims and foreigners, to wear abaya. Since 2018, there is no legal requirement to wear a hair covering, and now their flag carrier seems to have banned hijabs for flight attendants.
The absence of a hair covering inbuilt in the uniform isn't equivalent to it being banned, of course. The reason I think it might be is that it's been three years now and I haven't seen anything to indicate that it isn't, despite other people asking the same question. When this is partnered with the habits of other carriers it begins to feel like it implies something. I don't know. I can't find Saudia saying anything on the topic. This particular headgear really looks almost identical to Emirates's in particular. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a bit of active imitation going on, since Emirates is absolutely massive and Saudia is probably kicking themselves for not getting into imitating them earlier and buying A380s while they still could. Imagine the efficiency of all-economy A380 hajj flights. On the other hand, Saudia's low-cost subsidiary, Flyadeal, doesn't require head coverings but does allow them, so I ultimately just don't know what's happening and am sort of curious. If anyone reading this knows more than I do, I would love to hear from you.
Anyway, all that aside, Saudia cabin crew look absolutely fantastic. These uniforms are elegant in their wide strokes and immaculate in their details, and are up there as one of my favorite uniforms that could be described in structure and vibe as "a suit".

Bayern Munich has tendered an unreserved apology to Nasser Al-Khelaifi, the president of Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), over the actions of their fans who displayed a banner that targeted him on Tuesday during their Champions League clash at the Allianz Arena. The displayed banner criticized the PSG president's so many influential positions in football, including PSG owner, UEFA Executive Committee member, European Club Association chairman, and beIN chairman, regarding him with the adjective "plutocratic" and using an expletive. "FC Bayern would like to apologise when its opponents and their representatives in its stadium feel personally attacked in this manner and tone, and are offended as a result," Bayern said in a statement. "The club would like to make it clear that these banners were not authorised by FC Bayern and do not reflect its stance. They are not in keeping with the good and long-standing relationship between the two clubs. "The tone of these banners also goes against the style of FC Bayern and the respectful relationship the club has with its international partners." Bayern Munich trashed the French team PSG 1-0 after a goal from Kim Min-Jae, while PSG played almost all the second half with 10 men after Ousmane Dembélé was shown a red card. Nasser Al-Khelaifi is a controversial person among the fans of Bayern Munich, and he is scrutinized for a likely conflict of interest because of his multiple involvements in European football and broadcasting. Al-Khelaifi's role in shaping Champions League strategy and beIN's job as a major broadcaster is the reason for the criticism that he gets. The fans of Bayern are known for going against Qatar’s involvement in football, and the inclusion of their club's former sponsorship deal with Qatar Airways that was not renewed last year was due to fans opposition. The banner displays the frustration that football lovers bottle inside of them over the PSG president's control in global sports. Read the full article

Air Hostess Salary in India: Salary Breakdown
The variety of jobs in the cabin crew profession includes several ranks, and their pay varies according to the extent of responsibility and experience level.
New or subordinate junior air hostesses and cabin crew members are paid lower wages than superior positions such as pursers or lead cabin attendants.
A Junior Air Hostess in India is paid an initial wage of INR 25,000 – INR 40,000; whereas, a Senior Air Hostess in a similar organization is entitled to a wage of INR 70,000- INR 90,000 per month.
Pursers who are assigned with the managerial job in the cabin can even go higher and may cross INR 1 lakh in salary rate.
Cabin Crew, particularly Chief Pursers and Supervisors, form the apex in the Cabin Crew ranking and are offered the highest remuneration; international airlines usually provide improved incentives for these posts.
Overview of the Air Hostess Salary in India:
The pay scale of air hostesses in India varies, but some companies offer their freshers starting pay scales ranging between INR 25000 and INR 40000 per month for domestic carriers. The more experience they gain, their wage improves, and air hostesses and pursers at the senior level get anything from INR 50,000 to INR 80,000 monthly, or more. Some foreign airline companies, such as Emirates and Qatar Airways, start paying packages from INR 1-1.5 lakh a month.
This range shows that the profession pays well, especially for that person who is ascending through the ladder to senior positions. In addition to their wages, the cabin crew members get other remunerations that also improve their pay such as layover allowances, free accommodation, and health cover.

My life is a smorgasboard of failures
yeah I have been pretty inconsistent with the zero ball knowledge segment, but you know what, we have been pretty shit lately. there is nothing exciting to write about. we play so average, we can't score, we concede so much. we are so bang average it is a wonder we are currently sat at 6th place. we have injuries after injuries. majority of them coming from training. some injuries we don't even have details, just season long mystery injuries. where is malacia for heavens sake.
my life is pretty boring at the moment, i have put all my eggs in a basket so I'm just playing the waiting game now. just waiting and waiting and waiting -07/03/24
still waiting - 03/04/24
I have been waiting for an email about a qatar airways interview and yoh it's taking its time but its alright because my face isn't ready yet. I'm patient but i fear my parents are so scared that I'm going to be a bum.
so my mom on her own accord decided to get a job for me at her work place and i am not happy about it one bit. I've been praying a lot lately, loving God, trusting God and I'm just confused if I should turn it down and have faith that qatar will be happening. I'm thinking of just doing my masters now.
I finally got feedback on that job, yup they aren't moving forward with my application. they did thank me for taking the time and encouraged me to keep applying, so i did and got two more rejection letters to add to my arsenal. business as usual over here
I finally broke and applied to a local uni to do my masters, how do people get rich. It seems impossible. Should i just go to pilot school and try my luck. I have recently gotten into aviation, not quite an avgeek but I could sit with them.
This blog was supposed to be my money making entity but setting up adsense has to be the single most frustrating thing in the world

Holgado hits back to take pole, Sasaki fourth & Masia tenth in Qatar
Daniel Holgado (Red Bull KTM Tech3) got the job done in qualifying at the Qatar Airways Grand Prix of Qatar as the Spaniard took his KTM machine to the top of timesheets to secure himself a clear run into Turn 1 on Sunday. Holgado's 2:04.732 saw him steal the show from Diogo Moreira (MT Helmets - MSI) by just 0.003s as the young Brazilian was forced to settle for 2nd place. Deniz Öncü (Red Bull KTM Ajo) will join them on the front row after his flyer took him to P3, the Turk has looked in fine form all weekend as he aims to keep his title hopes alive on Sunday. The title battle is wide open in Moto3™ as Ayumu Sasaki (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP) and Jaume Masia (Leopard Racing) prepare for battle under the floodlights. It was Sasaki who won the qualifying fight as he took fourth place with Masia down in 10th. Whilst the Spaniard does have the opportunity to take the title on Sunday, he'll have to fight his way through from the fourth row of the grid if he is to seal the deal. Sasaki will be on row two alongside his teammate Collin Veijer (Liqui Moly Husqvarna Intact GP), who rounded out the top five ahead of Romano Fenati (Rivacold Snipers Team). Joel Kelso (CFMOTO Racing PruestelGP) will line up just behind as he's set to head Row 3 after finishing 0.003s ahead of Matteo Bertelle (Rivacold Snipers Team) to take 7th. The pair will be joined by Ivan Ortola (Angeluss MTA Team) on the third row as the Spaniard finished Q2 in P9. The fourth row will feature a frustrated Masia with work to do, and he has Fillipo Farioli (Red Bull KTM Tech3) and Vicente Perez (BOE Motorsports) for company in 11th and 12th respectively. Will Masia claim the title, or are we heading to a final showdown in Valencia? Don't miss any of the action when it commences at 17:00 local time (GMT +3)!

Opening Bell: September 29th, 2023
I genuinely think that every single person involved in the creation and dissemination of this Jardiance commercial should face terrorism charges.
Say what you will about Alabama, but they've got some great investigative reporters at their various outlets. This story about a pair of charlatan freaks using their "church" to buy up large swaths of a small town north of Birmingham is good stuff. Well, I mean, it's definitely BAD stuff. But, interesting to read about.
British Airways fired a pilot for simply wanting to be at his best while on the job.
In other air travel news: "Qatar Airways executive says invasive gynecological examinations of patients won't be repeated."
Finally, Katy Independent School District is mercifully allowing Texas school children the chance to laugh at the hilarious ass cracks that show up in their library books again.
