🍜 a/n: a little preview of a chef kyungsoo story that i’ve been working on. while i have the plot fleshed out it’ll honestly be a while before the long one/two-shot comes out since a lot of research goes into the details. and….i write at a snail’s pace. thank you for your patience and lmk if you’d like a tag in the updates!
this story is inspired by a lot of random yt videos and netflix’s shows - street food and chef’s table.

Twelfth Night Entry 4: Act 2.1,2.2 & 2.3
The fool, Sir Toby, and Sir Andrew
Act 2.1
Summary:
We are introduced to two new characters. They are Antonio and Sebastian who is the twin brother of Viola. This scene takes place after the ship wreck. In this, Antonio asks if he should go with Sebastian to wherever he was going. Sebastian says that it is better that he doesn’t because his luck is bad and he doesn’t want that to affect Antonio too. When Antonio wants to know where Sebastian is going, Sebastian says that he doesn’t know. He then goes on to tell Antonio what his name is, and who his father was, and about his twin sister who he believes is dead. He thanks Antonio for saving his life. He also starts talking about Viola and how much beauty she held- especially in the mind. Afterwards, Antonio says he wants to be Sebastian’s servant but Sebastian refuses saying that he doesn’t want to cause him trouble, and then he leaves for Count Orsino’s court. Antonio first talks to himself about the fact that he has many enemies there, but then decides to follow him anyways because he cares about Sebastian a lot.
Reaction:
The atmosphere in this scene shows many emotions at once, although I believe that what stood out the most was the emotion of sadness that was especially shown in Sebastian. This is mainly shown when Sebastian talks highly of his sister when he is upset because of her “death.” Antonio seems unhappy because of empathy towards Sebastian’s loss. He also seems upset because Sebastian keeps refusing when Antonio asked him if he could go with him.
Q&A
Question #1: What do you think will be Sebastian’s role in the way this story plays out?
I believe that Sebastian will be the one to help Viola because he could take her place in becoming the lover of Lady Olivia. He could be the person to break the ongoing love triangle with everyone receiving a happy ending.
Act 2.2
Summary:
While Cesario is walking back to Count Orsino’s court, he is stopped by Malvolio because Olivia had sent him to go “return” a ring that Cesario had “left” with her. She plays along and says that Olivia had taken that ring from her and that now he won’t take it back. Malvolio throws it on the ground rudely because he believes that Cesario had thrown it at Olivia rudely. After Malvolio leaves Cesario starts to talk to himself by wondering why Olivia had left him with this ring. He then realizes that Olivia has fallen for him and now feels pity because he is actually a woman too. Viola then realizes the problem she is in because she loves Orsino, Orsino loves Olivia, and Olivia loves Cesario/Viola. She comforts herself by saying that only time will tell what happens next - for better or for worse.
Reaction:
From this scene, we can see that Viola is a cool-headed person. We can tell because of how she reacted when she realized that Olivia had fallen for her.. Instead of freaking out she just told herself that only time will sort out the mess she’s in. She also doesn’t start to argue with Malvolio over the fact that the ring wasn’t hers and that it was actually Olivia’s.
Q&A:
Question #1: Do you think that Olivia feels ashamed about lying that Viola had left the ring?
I think that Olivia doesn’t care about that because of how she thinks she isn’t even the one in control and that love is. She also is in a higher level of class than “Cesario” which means that nobody would believe Viola over her.
Act 2.3
Summary:
This act is for comic relief after the tension that was quickly building up in the other scenes. The characters in here consist of Sir Andrew, Sir Toby, the fool, and Maria. Sir Andrew and Sir Toby are drunk. The fool comes and they pay him to sing a love song. Maria comes and scolds them because if they are too loud Olivia will wake up and tell Malvolio to kick them out. They all ignore her. Malvolio then comes out and threatens them by telling them that Olivia will hear of this. When he leaves, Maria hatches a plan to put Malvolio to shame.
Reaction:
The atmosphere in this part of the play was made for comic relief. The side story that is so far playing out shows a hilarious dialogue between Sir Andrew, Sir Toby, and the fool. When Malvolio comes, it seems that it would be more serious, but it’s feel doesn’t change because of Maria’s plan to shame Malvolio.
Q&A:
Question#1: Why do you think that Malvolio had also threatened Maria even though she din’t do anything?
I believe it is because Malvolio doesn’t want any of them in court, and so he makes up excuses to kick them out. Malvolio wants to be the only one who Olivia hasn’t had any problems with.
