Welcome to PuzzleJune 2023! We are only two weeks away from a whole month of celebrating our favorite soul mates! A new group came together to make sure we have all the inspiration to fill the internet with all the love we have for these two!

This year's theme is Ancient Egypt, but as per usual, fics and art do not need to be related to that. This month is about finding your inspiration and creativity however it comes to you. Let Yugi and Atem lead your way! Whether it is angst, fluff, humor or something nsfw, this is the time to show the internet that these two embody true love like no one else!

As in years' past, there is an opening prompt, ending prompt, weekly prompts and daily prompts. However you choose to celebrate this month is up to you! Summary: When he had met Atem at a Halloween party last year and had asked what he did for a living, he'd thought the other had just been flirting when he said he was a knight in shining armor. Admittedly, it had worked that night, but when he actually went to Atem's house a few days later and saw all the costumes, swords, and riding equipment, Yugi took it a bit more seriously.

Atem is a jousting knight at the local Renaissance Festival, and Yugi and the gang take their first trip to see him at work.

I don't think I've shared a fic on tumblr in... let's just say SEVERAL years.... But this most recent offering I created for PuzzleJune 2023 has received so much love and encouragement from so many incredible folks I adore and admire. So I've been duly encouraged (by one @cloudsmachinations specifically) to share here as well!

Many years back, I was told that there's a way of holding hands that isn't just about letting your palms or fingers intertwine, but instead you hold onto each others forearms. That way, should you ever slip and lose your grip you will still be held upright.

That imagery was what popped into my head when I saw that strength was the word for day 29, and I really wanted to use it for the one drawing I managed to make for puzzlejune, since these two never let go of each other... and I also wanted to combine that with them parting ways in the last chapter of the manga, the one time they had to let go... agh, now I'm making my own heart hurt (>v<;) But I hope that makes sense!

Thank you to the mod for holding this challenge and for inspiring me to post something for this lovely ship - they are truly precious and deserve the world~

It's a combination PuzzleJune and Year of the OTP chapter of an ongoing fic that will be completed near the end of the year. Note the rating for content. I wish I could find the post, but someone once made the comparison between publicly posting fanfiction and doing a live reading of your newly published book in a store. They compared different kinds of interaction with a fic (the number of hits, number of kudos, comments, and bookmarks with their own comments) with different interactions an in person author may have (number of people listening to you read, the folks that actually come up and talk to you after, overhearing some of their thoughts, etc.). It honestly helped SO much with my confidence posting since the idea of 10 people choosing to listen to my silly stories is wild, and I've got some with 20 in the crowd? 30 EVEN? UNTHINKABLE.

To add to that, though, joining a fandom based writing event like I have this month has felt less like a book reading and more like an authors convention! We've all been tirelessly working on what we'll be presenting, and we'll be working throughout the whole event. We're so so happy with the engagement of the people who attend our panels - often other people who's work we also follow.

I don't know - the feeling is different but not in a bad way at all! It's so collaborative and supportive and SUCH a joy to be surrounded by all of these insanely talented people while we all gush about our shared interests 🥰

Oh, be still my heart! I love how Yugi is Atem's protector here. They both fight to protect one another but Yugi made so many sacrifices for Atem. Such a beautiful relationship.
