my personal haircanon is that, living a more stable life in this universe, gerry spent a few years with perfectly well dyed black hair, and then he got a bit bored of it and decided to switch it up and go for some bright bold colors to contrast with the black clothing. and he didn't really think about how going darker was easier than going lighter so now his hair is back to extremely badly dyed but now it's a split dye of half hot pink half baby blue. red string of fate pulling all gerrys in the multiverse to figure out new ways to fuck up their hair.
