The Flash “Duet”

So, this will be a bit strange, but after the first few moments, I decided to start writing... so... I’m writing as I’m watching because I don’t want to make a bunch of posts about it... so bear with me.

Aside from everything else... WHY IS MON-EL THERE BRINGING KARA TO THE FLASH SCOOBY GANG?  Where is Alex?  In what universe would Alex not be there at her sister’s side?  And would she let Mon-El, who she knows Kara broke up with, carry her to help? 

Buckle up kiddies... Possible Spoilers...

Why are you forcing Mon-El on me in a whole other show?  And how gross is he for introducing himself as her boyfriend, after she broke up with him?  He was already inserting himself back into her life at the DEO after the break up (rather than leading his people to being BETTER people, which would be a better use of his time if he was really embarrassed by who he was before and how his people were before - for him to be the ‘changed man’ he is always claiming to be).  And who is he to ‘correct’ J’onn with ‘we did a lot of kissing’ when it’s pointed out that she broke up with him and she is unable to speak for herself?

And rather than focusing on waking Kara up and helping her, he’s focused on finding the one who did it to her and punching her... which makes me feel like it’s less about helping her and more about punishing the person who did damage to something he feels is his... which is further proven by him saying he is her boyfriend in the first place when he KNOWS she broke up with him.

 - I’m pissed off that I’m being subjected to the Mon-El + Kara relationship when Barry mentioned about meeting her boyfriend (which again, pissed me off because now Mon-El had inserted himself falsely into her life to her friends who don’t know him), but YAY!  Kara was like, nope, not my boyfriend.  Not my friend.

 - But Supergirl writers, CAN YOU PLEASE STOP PUSHING THIS RELATIONSHIP?  MON-EL AND KARA IS NOT A HEALTHY RELATIONSHIP!  AND EVERYONE TELLING HER, “GIVE HIM A ANOTHER CHANCE.” OR “HE SEEMS TO REALLY CARE ABOUT YOU.” ALL SOUNDS LIKE SUPPORT FOR AN ABUSIVE RELATIONSHIP!  THAT’S NOT ROMANTIC.

And the fact that this is crossing shows is really annoying.  I would have loved to enjoy this musical without having Mon-El shoved at me, yet again.  She broke up with him, can we PLEASE MOVE ON FROM HIM AND THIS FAIL OF A RELATIONSHIP.  

 - Don’t you dare put the same level of love and caring of Iris for Barry, on Mon-El and Kara... Don’t belittle the relationship of Barry and Iris like that!  I don’t necessarily feel the Barry/Iris thing, but that’s had a lot of time and effort and development, not a few weeks of forced ‘love’.  It has been shown as sweet and loving...  nothing like Mon-El and Kara.

- AND GODDAMMIT...  There’s Kara ‘understanding Mon-El’.  Seriously.  FUCK YOU WRITERS... I’ve really had it with this situation. 

 - AND UGH... WHAT THE FUUUUUCK WITH THE TRUE LOVE’S KISS B.S. with Mon-El and Kara...  

 - And oh look... she’s giving him ANOTHER chance.  AAAARGH.  Seriously.  I may be done with Supergirl.  I literally called this yesterday in my post about “Star-Crossed”. I hoped I was wrong, but I knew they weren’t done with this crap... I want to support Supergirl, but...  I don’t know if I can anymore.  Not even with the Alex and Maggie relationship that I love.  Why couldn’t they just keep Kara and Jimmy....  He totally respected her and encouraged her, believed in her and supported her - like a REAL man wanting a real relationship.  The complete bullshit of Kara being unsupportive of his desire to be a hero (which was a stupid plot line really.  He had power before that and it would have been awesome to explore him being a leader at Cat’s company... and I miss Cat because she would have called B.S. on this whole thing!) was already annoying, but I take whatever their relationship is over Mon-El and Kara. 

Mon-El and Kara is an unhealthy relationship.  There is nothing cute or romantic and sweet about it.  Mon-El has consistently lied to, disrespected, manipulated and disregarded Kara.  When it was EVER time to step up, he has stepped backwards.  He has proven himself to be selfish, self-interested and generally all about what he wanted, thought and needed.  Kara should not be there ‘to make him a better man’.  That’s not her job as his ‘girlfriend’.  That doesn’t make him a good man.  That doesn’t make him a hero.  Mon-El’s mother was right... he isn’t good enough for her and showing him as being that, only feeds the lie many girls tell themselves that they can ‘change him’ when faced with the same type of man in the real world.  It encourages the idea that a woman is there to ‘make a man better’, when he should be doing that on his own.  It’s one thing to be inspired by someone else’s behavior... That’s awesome.  But Mon-El has only done anything because of Kara... and only sometimes has it been for Kara.  On his own, he has constantly made a selfish choice.  And when ever Kara has not done what he wanted, he has been petulant and childish.

The fact that his Dude-bro behavior is being rewarded by ‘getting the girl’, is insulting to women and Supergirl/Kara Danvers, who has been such an amazing representation of a woman coming into her own power.  And again, it sends a message to men/boys (and girls) that you just have to keep inserting yourself into a woman’s life, keep apologizing without changing your behavior, and without any sort of repercussion and that’s all right. ��He still gets the girl.  

Like women don’t have enough of a trouble dealing with men pushing themselves and their agenda on us... we get to watch a show do the same and present it as ‘romantic’.

This is not the Supergirl I started watching.  Not as a show and not as a character.   

Am I the only one feeling this way?
