I’m really hopeful that the oxymeter caught something. The screen blacks out while you’re wearing it but if the sensor comes off at all you can see the numbers for a moment when you put it back on. It came off at some point and I immediately put it back on and it was at 80% and then again this morning when I was getting ready to turn it off it said 82% so I left it on for another 10 minutes. I’m really hoping it’s enough for the Pulmonologist to be able to do something and not think it’s just a fluke.

It’s a stormy morning. Mandana wanted blanket cuddles and I’m happy to oblige 😌

Recovery After Bronchoscopy: What to Expect
Recovery after a bronchoscopy test in Jaipur involves several considerations, overseen by a skilled pulmonologist in Jaipur like those at Breath Clinic, renowned for their reputation as some of the best pulmonologists in Jaipur. Understanding what to expect post-procedure can help alleviate any concerns and ensure a smooth recovery process.
Tumblr media
Immediate Post-Procedure: After the bronchoscopy, patients are typically monitored in a recovery area until the effects of sedation wear off. You may experience mild throat irritation, a sore throat, or a persistent cough due to the presence of the bronchoscope during the procedure. These symptoms are normal and usually subside within a few hours.
Rest and Recovery: It's advisable to rest for the remainder of the day following the procedure. Activities such as driving, operating machinery, or making important decisions should be avoided until the effects of sedation completely dissipate. Your pulmonologist in Jaipur will provide specific instructions regarding when you can resume normal activities, including work and exercise.
Managing Discomfort: To manage any discomfort or soreness in your throat, soothing lozenges or warm liquids like tea with honey can be helpful. It's essential to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. Avoid smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke to promote healing.
Monitoring for Complications: While complications after bronchoscopy are rare, it's crucial to be vigilant for signs of potential issues such as severe chest pain, persistent coughing up of blood, or difficulty breathing. If you experience any unusual symptoms, contact your pulmonologist in Jaipur promptly for further guidance.
Follow-Up Care: Depending on the reason for your bronchoscopy, your doctor may discuss preliminary findings immediately after the procedure or schedule a follow-up appointment to review results in detail. They may recommend additional tests or treatments based on these findings to address any underlying respiratory conditions.
Reassurance and Support: Recovery after a bronchoscopy can vary from person to person, but with the guidance of a trusted best pulmonologist in Jaipur at Breath Clinic, patients can expect attentive care aimed at minimizing discomfort and promoting a swift return to normal activities. By adhering to post-procedure instructions and communicating openly with your healthcare team, you can facilitate a successful recovery and ensure ongoing respiratory health.

Q. What is nonallergic rhinitis with nasal eosinophilia syndrome (NARES)?
.
.
.
.
.
A. Nonallergic rhinitis with nasal eosinophilia syndrome is the most common inflammatory kind of nonallergic rhinitis. Sufferers have high eosinophils on nasal smear but negative skin or serum tests for IgE. It is associated with asthma and may reflect hyperactive nasal mucosal inflammation.

Three times in as many weeks, I’ve been asked if I’m losing weight (again). Second question is “Are you trying to lose weight?” Yes, losing. No. Not trying. Four years ago, over one year, lost almost 50 pounds. Again, wasn’t trying. I’ve been diagnosed with Polycythemia. That is, my body is making too many hemoglobin, hematocrit and white blood cells - all of which indicates cancer. Oncologist has run a cancer screening and came up with nothing so, sent me to pulmonology. He’s tested me for things like asthma, lung functioning, sleep apnea, chronic obstructed pulmonary disease, emphysema and cardio stress. He too has come up with nothing. I admit I miss being big. I used to work out religiously. Never juiced.

Role of Bronchoscopy in Diagnosing and Treating Respiratory Conditions Bronchoscopy is a procedure
Bronchoscopy is a procedure that allows doctors to examine inside lungs and airways with the use of a thin, lighted tube which is known as a bronchoscope. It is an important test in diagnosis and respiratory conditions. Pulmo Vista is a multi-speciality clinic in Delhi with extensive provision for pulmonology diagnostics and therapy with some of the best pulmonologists in Delhi and offers bronchoscopy as well. It is best to get a bronchoscopy at a lung specialist hospital in Delhi.
What is Bronchoscopy?
It involves putting of a tube in the nose or mouth, down the throat and windpipe to look at the voice-box, trachea and large & amp; medium airways. For a procedure like this, it is good to approach the best pulmonologists in Delhi. There are two kinds of bronchoscopes –
Rigid: It is a straight tube used to view the large airways. Within the bronchi, it is used to remove a large amount of secretion or blood; control bleeding; remove foreign objects; remove diseased tissue (lesions); or carry out procedures and treatments.
Flexible: It is used more frequently and it can be moved down into the smaller airways. It is used to place a breathing tube in the airway for oxygen; to suction out secretions; for biopsies and to deliver medicines to lungs.
Who needs a Bronchoscopy?
It is used to diagnose and treat pulmonary lung disease and other problems like tumours or bronchial cancer.
Blockage in airways
Narrowed areas in airways
Inflammation and infections like tuberculosis, pneumonia and lung infections (fungal or parasitic)
Interstitial pulmonary disease
Determine cause of persistent cough
Determine cause of blood in cough
Spots in chest X-rays
Paralysis of vocal cord
Treatments that are done using bronchoscopy include biopsy, sputum collection, bronchoalveolar lavage or BAL, removal of secretions, blood, mucus plugs or growths, control of bronchial bleeding, removing foreign objects or other blockages, laser therapy or radiation treatment for bronchial tumours, placement of a small tube (stent) to keep an airway open and draining pus. When you go to the best pulmonary doctor, they may prescribe these to offer relief to you. Is Bronchoscopy not suitable for some people?
Sometimes people with severe narrowing or blockage of trachea and high blood pressure in the Lungs & blood vessels (pulmonary hypertension) are advised against getting a Bronchoscopy. People who have a severe cough or gag response, have low blood oxygen levels or are at high the risk of bleeding should also not get a Bronchoscopy done. This is one of the advantages of being at a lungs specialist hospital in Delhi, you will be guided well after ascertaining your suitability. Certain conditions require precautions during the procedure. If you have high carbon dioxide levels or shortness of breath, you may be put on a breathing machine to send oxygen directly to your lungs during Bronchoscopy. What does Bronchoscopy involve?
A Bronchoscopy can be done as an outpatient procedure or be a part of a longer hospital stay. It takes about fifteen minutes to an hour. While the procedure may vary depending on your particular case, it involves the following steps under the care of some of the best pulmonologists of Delhi.
• You may be asked to wear a hospital gown and remove your jewellery.
• You will be asked to lay down on the procedure table with your head slightly raised.
• An IV may be inserted into your arm or hand.
• You may be put on antibiotics before and after the procedure.
• You may be administered a sedative to relax you, but you will otherwise be awake. You will receive medicine to numb your nose and throat.
• In case of rigid Bronchoscopy, you will receive a general anaesthesia to keep you asleep during the procedure and prevent pain.
• Oxygen may be administered through a nasal tube or face mask.
• Your blood pressure, heart rate and breathing will be monitored throughout the procedure. • A numbing spray will be applied to the back of your throat to prevent gagging. Gagging will go away once the pipe passes down the throat.
• Saliva will be suctioned from your mouth and you won't be able to talk or swallow during the procedure.
• You may feel mild pain and if needed, additional oxygen will be provided.
• Lungs are examined and if tissue or mucus samples are needed, they are taken.
• After the procedure has been conducted, the bronchoscope is removed.
• You spend some time in the recovery room and you may be sleepy or confused due to sedation or general anaesthesia.
• Immediately after the bronchoscopy, you may be given a chest x-ray to ensure that your lungs are okay.
• You may be asked to spit up for your saliva that may be checked for blood.
Post-procedure care
As your gag reflex might not have returned, you won’t be allowed to eat or drink for a while till it returns. Gargling and throat lozenges may help. It is normal to feel some pain. For out-patient procedures, you can return home after your healthcare provider allows you to. You won't be able to drive back yourself so you would need to make appropriate arrangements. When your doctor permits, you may resume a normal diet. Strenuous activities may be prohibited for a while. Because of the technical nature of the test, it is advisable to choose only the best pulmonary doctor for this treatment.
What should I watch out for after a bronchoscopy?
If you have fever above 100.4°F, redness, swelling or fluid leakage from the spot of the IV, breathing problem, hoarseness that won’t go away, pain in the chest or coughing up a lot of blood, you may need to see your doctor.
At Pulmo Vista, among a range of pulmonary lung disease tests that we offer, bronchoscopy is one of them. It is administered under the care of some of the best pulmonologists in Delhi. As we are a lung speciality Hospital in Delhi, we ensure your procedure is as smooth as possible.

Hospital Hijinks: Pulmonology edition
My Pulmonologist told me since my desaturation problems are very transient that I should try to come in on bad days and they will do the 6-minute walk to try to catch it, so that’s what we did today and it did not workout the way the Dr had recommended.
I was in the waiting room for two hours while they messaged various people to try to get answers. No problem, because I really need to do some settle practice at the hospital specifically so it actually worked out for us.
What they finally concluded is that I can’t just do a 6-minute walk because if my oxygen is low they are legally required to prescribe me oxygen before I leave. So I HAVE to have an appointment scheduled for after the test. Fine, whatever. I scheduled an apt for next week.
The annoying part is that I was literally desaturating in their office right in front of them. My oxygen lvls driving there was as low as 74% and I was using two different oxymeters. So they’re liable for me if I have an appointment but if it’s happening right in front of them but I’m not scheduled they can’t help me.
Mandana did great and I really got to nail down what her issue is. She was completely fine waiting two hours. She was fine with a down/stay as I walked around the room. She was fine as I had conversations with other people and she was fine while I was at the front desk trying to clear things up. The only time she whined even a little was when I got close to the door to go to the back while talking to a nurse. So it really is about the back exam room atmosphere and I think it’s because it resembles a new vet.
So yeah, I’m frustrated that I basically have to make appointment after appointment until we catch this in a 6 minute window but on the plus side I really can’t think of a better way to work on her issue with being in an exam room. So I guess there’s a bright side 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
They also get to see how well-behaved she really is which is great bc her whining in the apt is my biggest embarrassment 😳
