I’m really hopeful that the oxymeter caught something. The screen blacks out while you’re wearing it but if the sensor comes off at all you can see the numbers for a moment when you put it back on. It came off at some point and I immediately put it back on and it was at 80% and then again this morning when I was getting ready to turn it off it said 82% so I left it on for another 10 minutes. I’m really hoping it’s enough for the Pulmonologist to be able to do something and not think it’s just a fluke.

It’s a stormy morning. Mandana wanted blanket cuddles and I’m happy to oblige 😌

Recovery After Bronchoscopy: What to Expect
Recovery after a bronchoscopy test in Jaipur involves several considerations, overseen by a skilled pulmonologist in Jaipur like those at Breath Clinic, renowned for their reputation as some of the best pulmonologists in Jaipur. Understanding what to expect post-procedure can help alleviate any concerns and ensure a smooth recovery process.
Tumblr media
Immediate Post-Procedure: After the bronchoscopy, patients are typically monitored in a recovery area until the effects of sedation wear off. You may experience mild throat irritation, a sore throat, or a persistent cough due to the presence of the bronchoscope during the procedure. These symptoms are normal and usually subside within a few hours.
Rest and Recovery: It's advisable to rest for the remainder of the day following the procedure. Activities such as driving, operating machinery, or making important decisions should be avoided until the effects of sedation completely dissipate. Your pulmonologist in Jaipur will provide specific instructions regarding when you can resume normal activities, including work and exercise.
Managing Discomfort: To manage any discomfort or soreness in your throat, soothing lozenges or warm liquids like tea with honey can be helpful. It's essential to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids unless otherwise instructed by your doctor. Avoid smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke to promote healing.
Monitoring for Complications: While complications after bronchoscopy are rare, it's crucial to be vigilant for signs of potential issues such as severe chest pain, persistent coughing up of blood, or difficulty breathing. If you experience any unusual symptoms, contact your pulmonologist in Jaipur promptly for further guidance.
Follow-Up Care: Depending on the reason for your bronchoscopy, your doctor may discuss preliminary findings immediately after the procedure or schedule a follow-up appointment to review results in detail. They may recommend additional tests or treatments based on these findings to address any underlying respiratory conditions.
Reassurance and Support: Recovery after a bronchoscopy can vary from person to person, but with the guidance of a trusted best pulmonologist in Jaipur at Breath Clinic, patients can expect attentive care aimed at minimizing discomfort and promoting a swift return to normal activities. By adhering to post-procedure instructions and communicating openly with your healthcare team, you can facilitate a successful recovery and ensure ongoing respiratory health.

My mood today. Had a lie-in and woke up feeling sore. Checked my phone to find my test results from the PFT I did yesterday and it said that I have "severe air trappings". Haven't heard from the doctor's take on it yet so we'll see. Plan today is to shower, maybe do a little school work, and join a myositis support chat. #pft #myositis #myositisawareness #pulmonology #tests #snow #cats #mood #autoimmune #chronicillness #invisibleillness #lungs #energy #fatigue #breath #livinglife https://www.instagram.com/p/CmZ8MtAyomo/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Three times in as many weeks, I’ve been asked if I’m losing weight (again). Second question is “Are you trying to lose weight?” Yes, losing. No. Not trying. Four years ago, over one year, lost almost 50 pounds. Again, wasn’t trying. I’ve been diagnosed with Polycythemia. That is, my body is making too many hemoglobin, hematocrit and white blood cells - all of which indicates cancer. Oncologist has run a cancer screening and came up with nothing so, sent me to pulmonology. He’s tested me for things like asthma, lung functioning, sleep apnea, chronic obstructed pulmonary disease, emphysema and cardio stress. He too has come up with nothing. I admit I miss being big. I used to work out religiously. Never juiced.

A Journey to Healing: A Real-Life Case of Pulmonary Hypertension
Introduction
Pulmonary hypertension is a complex condition that affects the lungs and heart. It is characterized by high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs, which can lead to severe complications if left untreated. This is a story about Mr. Rohit Malhotra, a 45-year-old professional from Gurgaon, whose life took a turn when he was diagnosed with this challenging condition. Dr. Prashant Saxena is Senior Director & Head Pulmonology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine Fortis Hospital, Vasant Kunj, Delhi and Fortis Hospital, Gurugram. He underwent Fellowship training in Westmead & Liverpool Hospitals, Sydney, Australia. He is an expert in the field of Interventional Pulmonology & Critical Care.
The Symptoms: Ignored but Persistent
For months, Rohit experienced unexplained shortness of breath, frequent fatigue, and occasional chest pain. He dismissed these symptoms as work stress and lack of sleep. However, things escalated when he started feeling dizzy even during light activities like walking up a flight of stairs. Concerned, he consulted a doctor, who referred him to the Best Pulmonologist in Delhi for further evaluation.
The Diagnosis: A Turning Point
After undergoing a series of tests, including an echocardiogram and a pulmonary function test, Rohit was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension. The pulmonologist explained how this condition puts pressure on the heart, potentially leading to complications such as heart failure, arrhythmias, and blood clots.
Complications of Pulmonary Hypertension
Heart strain: The right side of the heart works harder to pump blood, leading to enlargement and eventual failure.
Blood clots: Reduced blood flow can cause clots in the lungs, worsening symptoms.
Irregular heartbeat: This can be life-threatening if not managed.
Common Symptoms
Persistent shortness of breath
Fatigue and weakness
Chest pain or tightness
Fainting spells or dizziness
Swelling in the legs or abdomen
The Road to Recovery
Rohit began a treatment plan tailored by his pulmonologist, including medications to relax the pulmonary arteries, lifestyle changes, and regular follow-ups. Over time, his symptoms improved, allowing him to return to a more active life.
Conclusion
Rohit’s story highlights the importance of early diagnosis and specialized care. If you or someone you know experiences symptoms like unexplained breathlessness or fatigue, don’t ignore them. Consult the Best Pulmonologist in Delhi or Gurgaon to ensure timely intervention and better quality of life.
Early awareness and expert care can transform lives. Stay vigilant, and prioritize your health!

Hospital Hijinks: Pulmonology edition
My Pulmonologist told me since my desaturation problems are very transient that I should try to come in on bad days and they will do the 6-minute walk to try to catch it, so that’s what we did today and it did not workout the way the Dr had recommended.
I was in the waiting room for two hours while they messaged various people to try to get answers. No problem, because I really need to do some settle practice at the hospital specifically so it actually worked out for us.
What they finally concluded is that I can’t just do a 6-minute walk because if my oxygen is low they are legally required to prescribe me oxygen before I leave. So I HAVE to have an appointment scheduled for after the test. Fine, whatever. I scheduled an apt for next week.
The annoying part is that I was literally desaturating in their office right in front of them. My oxygen lvls driving there was as low as 74% and I was using two different oxymeters. So they’re liable for me if I have an appointment but if it’s happening right in front of them but I’m not scheduled they can’t help me.
Mandana did great and I really got to nail down what her issue is. She was completely fine waiting two hours. She was fine with a down/stay as I walked around the room. She was fine as I had conversations with other people and she was fine while I was at the front desk trying to clear things up. The only time she whined even a little was when I got close to the door to go to the back while talking to a nurse. So it really is about the back exam room atmosphere and I think it’s because it resembles a new vet.
So yeah, I’m frustrated that I basically have to make appointment after appointment until we catch this in a 6 minute window but on the plus side I really can’t think of a better way to work on her issue with being in an exam room. So I guess there’s a bright side 🤷‍♀️
Tumblr media
They also get to see how well-behaved she really is which is great bc her whining in the apt is my biggest embarrassment 😳

Pulmonary Billing: Maximizing Revenue While Improving Patient Outcomes
Pulmonary billing plays a crucial role in both the financial health of a pulmonology practice and the quality of care patients receive. By ensuring that pulmonary services are billed accurately and efficiently, practices can maximize revenue while simultaneously improving patient outcomes. With the right approach to medical billing services, healthcare information management, and insurance claim processing, pulmonology practices can overcome common billing challenges and foster better care coordination. In this article, we’ll explore how optimizing pulmonary billing processes not only boosts revenue but also positively impacts patient outcomes.
The Importance of Accurate Pulmonary Billing
Accurate pulmonary billing is critical for ensuring that medical practices are reimbursed properly for the services they provide. Pulmonology practices often deal with complex conditions, such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), asthma, lung cancer, and sleep-related disorders. These conditions require frequent diagnostic tests, procedures, and long-term treatments, making proper documentation and coding essential.
Medical billing services play a key role in ensuring that every procedure, from spirometry to bronchoscopy, is billed correctly. Failure to properly document and code services can lead to underpayment or denial of insurance claims, which directly impacts a practice’s revenue. Furthermore, inaccurate billing can create unnecessary delays in patient care. When claim denials happen, they often lead to resubmissions, which slow down the entire process and can delay the approval of crucial treatments for patients.
Streamlining Insurance Claim Processing
A significant aspect of pulmonary billing is ensuring that insurance claim processing runs smoothly. Many pulmonology practices struggle with navigating the intricacies of different insurance plans, including Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurers. By streamlining insurance claim processing, practices can reduce the number of denied or delayed claims. This, in turn, speeds up reimbursement and allows practices to reinvest in patient care initiatives.
Effective healthcare information management is critical in this regard. With up-to-date systems in place, pulmonology practices can maintain accurate patient records, monitor claim status in real time, and quickly identify any discrepancies that may lead to a denial. By maintaining a proactive approach to claims processing, practices can not only maximize revenue but also ensure that patients receive timely care.
Improving Outcomes Through Denial Management
Denial management services are essential for pulmonology practices aiming to minimize revenue loss and improve patient outcomes. Denied claims can create financial strain for medical practices, but they also impact patients by delaying necessary treatments. A robust denial management strategy can prevent these issues before they arise, by identifying and resolving coding errors, documentation gaps, and missing pre-authorizations.
By focusing on denial management, practices can ensure that denied claims are promptly appealed and corrected. This reduces the financial burden on both the patient and the practice while ensuring that patients do not experience delays in their care. For example, a patient requiring a bronchoscopy may have their procedure delayed if the insurance claim is denied due to improper coding. By resolving the denial quickly, the practice ensures that the patient’s care continues uninterrupted, which leads to better clinical outcomes.
Revenue Cycle Management for Pulmonary Practices
Revenue cycle management (RCM) is an integral part of any pulmonology practice. A well-organized RCM system helps practices track and optimize their financial performance by managing the entire lifecycle of a patient account. From patient registration to final payment, RCM covers every step of the billing process. Pulmonology practices, which often see patients for chronic conditions requiring long-term care, benefit significantly from strong revenue cycle management.
By using effective RCM strategies, such as automated billing systems, electronic health records (EHR) integration, and real-time claim tracking, pulmonology practices can reduce errors and inefficiencies in their billing processes. This not only helps increase revenue but also allows practices to focus more on patient care. Furthermore, a streamlined RCM process ensures that practices can reinvest in advanced treatments and technologies that improve patient outcomes, such as new diagnostic tools or cutting-edge therapies for respiratory diseases.
Conclusion
Pulmonary billing is not just about managing the financial aspects of a medical practice; it is about improving patient care as well. By focusing on accurate documentation, efficient insurance claim processing, and effective denial management services, pulmonology practices can maximize their revenue while ensuring that patients receive timely and appropriate care. Moreover, integrating strong revenue cycle management practices allows pulmonology providers to reduce administrative burdens and focus on what truly matters—enhancing patient outcomes.
In today’s complex healthcare landscape, optimizing pulmonary billing processes is essential for achieving financial stability and improving patient care. By leveraging the right medical billing services, healthcare information management tools, and robust denial management strategies, pulmonology practices can meet the demands of both their patients and their bottom line.
