Raw Words, Real Truth

Man, who decided language should be all polite and clean? Who said we can't throw in a good "puki" or "nia-mah" when we're talking real, living life? Because, listen, the streets, the people—they talk in raw colors, not some sterilized whitewash. Like "fuck," it's got power, it's got pulse, it means something in the cracks between words. If the previous ones we're considered classic, then I don't know what this is. The embodiment of my childhood, Muti's avocado ice cream. It's basically frozen avocado juice but something about the sweetness both from the avocado itself and the additional chocolate condensed milk is just right.

I don't care, I'm gonna name this brand. Ayam Mas Mono. That's it.

And of course, how can I forget the myth the legend itself, ni ai wo wo ai ni, Mixue. What a Chad.

But most importantly, I miss the people I used to share my meals with almost daily. Eating the regular yet lovely chicken soup by Mama with my brother while waiting for my school's pick-up car to come, eating yet another peanut butter bread with my friends while talking about the same old problem I couldn't seem to walk away from, so many memories though redundant I would relive once more. If He wills, it will happen, but I know it won't last. We won't live through it for days, even months, like we would before. So if there's one thing I learned from leaving home, it would be to cherish the so-called ordinary days.

Today is a writing day. It is usually pretty easy to let the nitty-gritty parts of writing overwhelms me and erases the exciting and enjoyable aspect of it.

This idea of “fraternity unionism” has been brewing in my head for over a year now. Although I have written and talked publicly about it in various occasions, something deeper is confusing and bothering me. But what exactly is it? I am not so sure. It is not about the strategic and perhaps necessary compromise of engaging with union politics despite disgusting people in charge in it. It is not whether and why most forms of unionism corrupts progressive activists. It is not the hopeless dream to purify sexism, racism, ableism, homophobia, xenophobia, etc. in union politics. It is not a call to ignore or underestimate the precious wins after decades of neoliberalization of the labor movement, especially in the West. I suppose I am deeply troubled by the particular form of ontological realism embedded in left-wing homo sociality tied with historical materialism. There is something incapable in historicity of dealing with raciality that potentially explains the convergence of Spivak with Butler in their notoriously bad political intuition and stance in the Avital Ronell case, as the reification of race in contemporary US academia blocks much-needed understandings of racialization. It seems like a lot of issues with international scholars in the US, who grew up as part of the dominant group in their home country, is that they can afford not talking about race because of their racialized body. It is such an odd scene of absurdity, witnessing white people obsessing with racial diversity and weaponizing it to block conversation about racialization, while racialized bodies in academia profitting from their respective sacred identity categories.

Yoongi huffed loudly. He's going to puke. He's just patiently waiting for it now. This really sucked. Everything had to be stopped all because he started feeling a little puky. Hoseok sat beside him rubbing yoongi's thigh and holding yoongi's hand. Yoongi pouts, his stomach churns and he pushes into it with his palm. He wishes he declined those extra pieces of meat taehyung gave him. He was already stuffed but he felt that put him over the edge. yoongi's breathing picks up and he takes off his sunglasses. He doesn't want them to fall off his face if he starts puking. yoongi felt really really full. Hoseok gets a little nervous when he sees yoongi's shoulders rise and fall swiftly. Hoseok takes a calming breath. He promised yoongi he'd stay with him if he started feeling like this, He was going to relax and control himself so he could take care of yoongi. yoongi had taken so much care of him before, he never hesitated to help him when he was sick, hoseok just wanted to be there for him too.

yoongi can feel it in his throat. His stomach twists and his mouth fills with saliva. At that same moment, namjoon walked up to the two of them sitting on the big rock. Namjoon wore green cargo pants, white sneakers, and a grey fear of god shirt. He carried on his back a large black bag with reflectors on it. " guys we should really get going soon, it looks like it might rain." hoseok looks up to the sky to see what namjoon is talking about. It was geting quite cloudy. Yoongi, lets go of hoseok's hand and gets up from the big rock. He walks a little further away from hoseok. He knew hoseok would not be able to handle what was about to come next so when he heard hoseok shuffling to get up and go to him yoongi held out a hand, telling the other not to go any further. "No, don't," hoseok stays stiff, as does namjoon. " hyung, you alright." hoseok says. yoongi only holds his stomach with both hands and jolts forward. He gags, sick could be heard plopping into the grass. Hoseok covers his mouth with his elbow and cringes and the sound. Hoseok looked away. Namjoon cringed when yoongi bent down further and coughed up another round. Namjoon felt like this was a bad time. Maybe they'd been hiking for too long. Namjoon was quite tired, but joon thought they could make it all the way there without stopping. looking back it probably wasn't a bright idea. yoongi hiccuped. He looked back to the other members and walked over to them. They were still on the trail waiting. He looked at all of them. They all looked extremely tired. All of them were breathing loudly. Even jungkook looked tired, now namjoon knows he overworked the members. He asks " does anyone have any water for yoongi hyung?" Yoongi retches loudly momentarily catching everyone's attention. Jimin takes his backpack off of his back and opens it. He pulls out water. " here, is hyung going to be ok?" Jimin asks namjoon. " he'll be fine-" sick could be heard splattering with force in the background. " we'll just rest here for a moment," yoongi is heard again his retch turns into a belch" -or two" namjoon finishes his sentence and walks back over to yoongi who is violently projectile vomiting onto a tree. It was not a pretty sight. Namjoon can see why hoseok's been keeping his distance from his boyfriend.

He touches yoongi's back to let him know he's near. yoongi can't do anything but project his lunch onto the tree and plants in front of him. What caused his lunch to exit his body so violently. He himself didn't even know why. He was walking with the other members on the trail to the camping grounds, he was tired but he thought it was normal cause they had been walking for so long. Then he started feeling sick and he asked for a break. Now his stomach was hurting really badly.

"Indigestion" yoongi says as he sits down on the ground near his puddle. "I think I have indigestion." yoongi huffs out. " hyung if you don't think you can handle the rest of the journey we can get someone from the crew to come to get you." namjoon says. " no, no, I'm fine I can keep going." yoongi wipes his mouth on the sleeve of his shirt. I just need a few minutes then I can keep walking. " if you say so hyung, but please if you need another break or if you feel too bad to continue on let me know, it's not too late." namjoon put a comforting hand on yoongi's shoulder" yoongi knocks it off " I told you I'm fine" yoongi says trying to get himself off the ground to stand. Namjoon moved out of the yoongi's way. " you don't have to be so rude hyung" namjoon murmurs shoving the water into yoongi's hand and walking back to the trail. yoongi didn't mean to upset namjoon he just needed him to give him space and leave him alone. his stomach felt terrible and he felt like he could puke but namjoon was right they needed to keep going if it was going to rain. Yoongi grabbed his stuff he sat down and put it back on his back. keeping the two latches wrapped against his front unlocked, they were too tight and they felt uncomfortable. Yoongi started heading toward the others and hoseok followed behind. Hoseok could tell Yoon wasn't in the mood for touch or a conversation so he opted to not bother him. The members all began walking again. yoongi was constantly stifling nauseous burps the entire time. luckily he was quite enough to not raise suspicion. He was really nauseous and walking only made it worse. His legs felt like jelly and the sun was slowly going away so it was geting freezing.

He was shaking and falling behind in the group. He felt extremely weak from throwing up but he had to keep going. Hoseok stayed by his side the entire time no matter what yoongi's walking speed was. There was a point in time when yoongi stopped and leaned up against a tree. When hoseok stopped to see him the other members stopped as well. the members thought he was just tired and was slowly running out of energy while that was true the real reason he stopped was that he accidentally burped and sickness came up in his throat at lightning speeds. filling up his cheeks with vomit.
