He runs to his whip, hopping inside and taking off after the thing, now a purple and light blue blur, catching up slowly to whatever the hell it was. Swerving out of and around traffic like a madman to get to it.

     Just like that, she was swooped off her feet, and the boy’s lip pressed up again her own. The swordswoman’s face flushed as her eyes widened in surprise as she was frozen in shock for seconds that felt like hours. Her fingers frozen as their gazes locked as his arms swooped around her thin boy, coiling her back to hold her to his chest.

     Something about his presence made her feel relaxed, but yet the boy had this feeling they always wanted to surprise her. Had this been an accident with fortunate timing? Holding her back to make sure Peko didn’t fall with him to the ground?

     Their lips parted as she gasped for oxygen as her chest heaved up and down against his. The other seemed to chuckle at her embarrassment, yet her eyes narrowed, despite her confusion and flush.

     ❝ … You’re enjoying this, aren’t you? ❞

      She asked with a stern voice, obviously trying to mask her feelings with little success.

     IT WASN’T completely abnormal to see the detective get worked up over the missions given to him by the Reikai prince. Botan herself knew how outrageous some of them were, but the teen always pulled through in the end.

     THE REAPER found it rather hard to believe in soulmates. Of course Spirit World held records of such, and often had to deal with those types of souls, but being of Spirit World herself, the fiery girl found it hard to believe she herself could have one; after all, she didn’t really have a soul to begin with, right?

     THOUGH YEARS ago, she’s come across a wandering soul that she was drawn to, one that would get her scolded for missing out on her work as she followed him. It was when he died did she hurt for him. Having to deliver him to the afterlife was a whole other issue. She almost begged his majesty to give him another chance, but couldn’t. It would’ve been too far out of line for her. But it didn’t stop her from not wanting to see him pass over.

     THAT TIME was years ago, and it took months after Yusuke for her to really remember. When he’d come back from his fight with Sensui. Seeing him step out of the cave alive caused the heart in her human body to beat faster. She’d suddenly become overwhelmed with the feeling to protect him from the world. The memories of that lost soul came flooding back.

     IT WAS during her duties that she would come to earth to check on Koenma and Yusuke. Koenma, as her “former boss” coping on the human plane, and Yusuke as what felt like a dire need to make sure he was okay. It was one of those trips that she waited for Yusuke outside his school, once again, donning his school’s uniform for a disguise. Her heart was in her head as she spotted him leaving the grounds, running up to speak with him.

          “ Yusuke, may I speak with you? It’s not spirit world business, mostly… personal. ”
