I had some really incredible shopping experiences in Puerto Rico. I met a couple local designers and bought a maxi dress from the woman who designed it and also splits her time between Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic working with sex trafficking victims. I met a couple shopkeepers who offered great product lines and bought crystals from a young woman who had the coolest beachside shop environment. As a designer and a shopkeeper myself it felt so exciting to experience and support these people and places. Doing it with my bestie who I co-own @hectorhandmade with made it all the sweeter. Especially in tourist areas shopkeepers and the products they offer make a huge impact on people; The stories, intentions and quality reflect on the culture (whether they like it or not and whether it’s “good or bad”!)
