Finally, it’s time for the big news: I won Best Presentation in the Cleveland ConCoction 2019 Cosplay Contest!! Folks, you’ve all been fantastic this week: so many thanks to you all for being such fans of this cosplay! I loved making it and wearing it. Puddles is seriously one of my favorite performers, and I was so thrilled to translate my love into a cosplay tribute. I’m pretty proud of it; sure, there’s some bits that didn’t live up to the dream, but all in all I enjoyed it throughly. Enjoying what you do is something that will come through, no matter what it is that you do. Sincerely having a good time is the best way to get other people involved; after all, joy is something that increases the more that it is shared. When you love what you do, other people get excited about it because your happiness shines through... which makes being the saddest clown super hard. However, my smiles must not have cracked the surface too hard, because the judges decided to award me Best Presentation and I am simply blown away by that. Thank you so very much; I’m so glad you appreciated the work that went into it, and Puddles is a hard character to maintain when I’m having so much fun. Seriously, do you know how hard it is to be constantly sad? I have the greatest respect for Puddles - the fact that he never cracks when in character is amazing. These photos were taken at the con by GE Allen; I highly recommend him. He got some incredible shots! Oh my gosh, the past weekend at Cleveland ConCoction was totally magic and so many awesome things happened and I achieved a major personal milestone (that I will tell you about shortly,) but first... I’m so very excited to share my newest cosplay with you all! Puddles Pity Party is one of my favorite performers of all time, and if he ever comes to your town, you should definitely go to his show; I promise you, you will be thoroughly entertained! I wanted to do a Puddles cosplay for a lot of reasons, but at the top of the list, I love how he uses sad songs to make you smile. Puddles lets you know it’s ok to cry, and it’s ok to feel things strongly, and he gives voice to the current cultural zeitgeist and supports everyone who’s having a tough time. Plus, he’s like a post-modern blend of Pagliacci and Diogenes, and that fascinates me. Puddles truly is the sad clown with the golden voice, and that’s an aspect of the character that I dearly love and wholly respect.
