The expression remained as the seconds ticked by, their passing noted with the dripping sound of her fluids against the bedding beneath her. It wasn't until nearly fifteen seconds had elapsed until a moan, with some slight digital soundboard errors, finally escaped the Majors partially frozen face. It seemed that her jaw was at least once more in working order!
"Deu... S-Shtatus repor..?"
Well... Mostly working order. She sounded like she may still be a little drunk on the earlier ecstasy.

". . . How did The Pack get so heavily cyberized and not have any known symptoms of rejection or cyberpsychosis?"

Hell if I know, but then again the two that were cyberized were already fairly well around the bend... Calling them psychotic might actually be a complement.

Supplementary Notes to Make Me Your Empress
In addition to Chapter 4 and 9, I believe a separate list of important information would be helpful for some of you to refer to. Most of them are not canon, except the five clans marked [Canon], but their roles in the Court are slightly altered and expanded. The list will be updated as the story progresses.
[The following layout took some references from canon, but it is mostly designed for the fic.]
Tumblr media
I - Organizational Structure of the Outer Court
The design was inspired by the canon and the “three departments and six ministries (三省六部)” systems of many ancient Chinese dynasties. The ruling Emperor directly controls three official organizations and one shadow organization.
Department of State Affairs It is the primary executive institution led by the Prime Minister, separated into six ministries. Each ministry is led by one commander, followed by two vice-secretaries. i. Ministry of Personnel - responsible for selection, promotion, welfare, and termination of all Outer Court personnel, which includes the Physician Office  ii. Ministry of Treasury - responsible for tax collection, financial management, and auditory of other ministries and departments iii. Ministry of Rites - responsible for ceremonies and religious affairs iv. Ministry of Military - responsible for managing military personnel training, national defense strategies, and arms v. Ministry of Justice - responsible for law enforcement, judiciary, and prisons vi. Ministry of Works - responsible for public infrastructure development and agricultural planning
Central Secretariat It is the advisory body to the Emperor in laws and policy formulation.
Imperial Guards It is responsible for protecting the Emperor and the security of the Royal palace.
Intelligence Bureau It is a shadow organization that higher-ranking officials know exists. Because of their jobs, its members are never revealed, so they never attend court. Rumor has it that its members work in other departments and ministries under disguise.
II - Organizational Structure of the Inner Court
The Inner Court is led by the Emperor, delegating his power to the Empress or the Empress Dowager when he has yet to name an Empress. Consorts are divided into three ranks: low, middle, and high. Despite no limit on the number of low and middle consorts, there are only four high consorts who live in the Diamond, Garnet, Jade, and Crystal Pavillions.
All matters in the Inner Court are managed by the Office of the Interior, divided into three major sections:
Domestics Services Department The primary organization manages all duties through six Shangs, including Wardrobe, Housekeeping, Catering, Gardening, Furnishing, and Administration.
Office of Eunuchs It is responsible for recruitment, allocation, and welfare of eunuchs. Since Emperor Yang had ceased all castration practices, the office is shrinking and aging.
Office of Serving Women Similarly, it is responsible for recruitment, allocation, and welfare of serving women.
III - The Twelve Named Clans
Ma 馬 - [Canon] the Clan responsible for the Imperial Guards for generations. Their de facto family heads are the females at home, as the males are expected to stay frontline protecting the Royal Family. They often marry the Mi Clan due to their close working relations.
Mi 巳 - [Canon] the Clan that fully controls the Intelligence Bureau. It is a ‘family’ not born by blood but maintained between masters and disciplines, trained and excelled in intel collection, spy work, and martial arts. Most of their identities are unknown to the others, except a few of the ruling Emperor and Ma Clan members with whom they share close relationships.
Kan 漢 - [Canon] the Clan of over a century of standing recently rose to power due to their fourth head of the house, Lakan, earning the position of the Ministry of Military. They do not stand with any factions in the Court and remain distanced from other Clans. Rumors were that the daughter of the Military Commander had a close relationship with the Moon Prince, earning caution and jealousy from different Clans.
You 楊 - [Canon] the Clan named for its governance of the Western Province. Despite its member, Gyoukuyou, rising to power as the Empress Dowager, the fall of her brother Gyouku-en led to its isolation from other clans.
U 卯 - [Canon] the Clan that once held great power over the Court during the time of the Empress Regnant but was currently weakened. Its head of the clan was the father of the former Consort Lishu, who worked as the vice secretary of the Ministry of Rites.
Ryou 梁 - the Clan leading the Ministry of Personnel. The former head of the clan, father of Great Consort Lihua, was the current governor of the Northern Province. His younger brother, the current head, was the Personnel Commander. Part of the conservatives’ faction.
An 安 - another Clan of the conservatives’ faction. Family of the Great Empress Dowager, Anshi. They controlled the Ministry of Justice. (I knew Anshi came from a Named Clan in canon, but their name was never mentioned in the LNs, so I named it instead.)
Kyou 姜 - another Clan of the conservatives’ faction. Its head is the Commander of the Ministry of Rites.
Shin 沈 - the Clan leading the Ministry of Treasury. Part of the reformists’ faction. The clan head Heyi 合義 was famous for being objective and fair.
Tei 鄭 - the Clan leading the Ministry of Works. Part of the reformists’ faction.
Lei 黎 - the newest Named Clan, ascended after the fall of the Shi Clan as their head Liansheng 連生 became the Prime Minister. Both factions disliked him and isolated him at the Court, and some officials called him the ‘Puppet Minister.’
Han 潘 - the Clan with members scattered in the Ministries of Treasury, Justice, Works, and the Central Secretariat. They did not take a stance with any faction or the Prime Minister.
IV - Other Notable Political Families
Dan 段 - Part of the conservatives, working in the Treasury and the Justice ministries.
To 杜 - Relatives of the Prime Minister, working in the Personnel and Rites ministries.
Syuu 周 - Part of the reformists, working in the Personnel.
Sai 蔡 - Part of the reformists, working in the Works.

Ghost in the Shell
GHOST IN THE SHELL/攻殻機動隊
(Film)
Cyberpunk by Masamune Shirow / Mamoru Oshii
Era: 1990s
Rating: S
Plot: it's 2029, and Motoko Kusanagi, aka "The Major", is a cyborg working for Section 9 of the public security service in New Port City. After the translator of a cabinet member is found to have been hacked, she is tasked with tracking the culprit, suspected to be master hacker Puppet Master.
Length: 83 minutes
Thoughts: Well, if I'm doing movies, might as well start with one that is turning 30 in a few months, was the entry point for many non-believers in the medium in the 1990s and a key influence in the development of cyberpunk both thematically and visually - for instance, the lobby shootout in The Matrix (oh yeah, might do The Animatrix sometime), one of the defining sequences of the movie, is heavily indebted to the climax of GitS, where pillars are slowly destroyed by heavy gunfire, each stray bullet leaving a mark in the surroundings. As the legend goes, the Wachowski Sisters pitched the movie while pointing at GitS and saying "we want to do a live version of this".
Anyway. There's very little I can say of this that many people much smarter than me haven't said in the previous three decades - it's maybe the most seriously written about anime film in the west, with the themes of what does it mean to be conscious or self-aware and even if a self-aware machine has rights as a living being, to this day highly influential in western science fiction (tapping my huge VHS box of The Matrix special edition again). Or the horrendous implication of all these cybernetic augmented people being at the mercy of an hacker who can just create fictional memories of a life they never had to be more easily manipulated. As someone who if asked what really hard stuff I would make a career in if I had the brains for, cognitive neuroscience would probably be a choice, this is both a truly fascinating and horrifying scenario. After all, what are we but our memories and how our experiences shape our way of thinking and acting? Are those two even the same person they were before, even knowing those memories are all fake? Motoko also struggles with her identity as a human - while she has a human brain, her body is fully artificial. Is she a dead person kept alive inside a cyborg body? What does it even mean to be human at that level of encroachment of technology in the human existence?
However, it's worth mentioning it isn't an impenetrable movie - while it raises interesting questions and the world crafted by Masamune Shirow has quite a few things to bite into (Stand Alone Complex, the TV show by the same studio expands greatly on this, and I'll also get to it eventually), it stays at a superficial level and you are never left wondering just what happened - the story is a police investigation with a few big action scenes, and focuses mostly on the Section 9 team - Motoko, Batou and Togusa, as they try to get to the Puppet Master, and understand it's motivations and origin. It's also a very compressed version of the corresponding manga arc, doing away with many characters and all situations played for laughs - Motoko doesn't make someone punch themselves in the face even once, for instance, and characters all look more serious, Aramaki was originally drawn with monkey-like features, but here is a regular old man.
Visually... Well, look who's the director, and teaming up with Production I.G once again, after both Patlabor films. Like it was becoming the style of the time if you had the budget, it combines traditional cel animation with CGI with incredible results, it holds up pretty well to this day. Soundtrack by the revered Kenji Kawai (himself a Headgear member who worked with Oshii in both Patlabor films) is equally excellent.
It's a terrific movie and set the whole franchise as one of the standards in the cyberpunk genre, but beyond SAC I really can't say I enjoyed much of it, but at least here there's a lot of magic.
Recommended to: Fans of sci-fi but it's one of those that is almost obligatory viewing.
Plus:
It looks as you'd expect a mid 90s movie would - absolutely incredible.
Mixes the themes of consciousness with incredible action scenes with extraordinary ease.
Minus:
Could have been a bit deeper on the themes? Hard to say, the movie is very well paced and I don't think 30 more minutes of philosophising would help.

Ghost in the Shell [1995] & Ghost in the Shell 2: Innocence [2004]
Cyberpunk | 2 Movies: 83 mins & 98 mins
Seinen
In the year 2029, Niihama City has become a technologically advanced metropolis. The world is now more interconnected than ever before, and the city’s Public Security Section 9 is responsible for combating corruption, terrorism, and other dangerous threats following this shift toward globalization.
The strong-willed Major Motoko Kusanagi of Section 9 spearheads a case involving a mysterious hacker known only as the “Puppet Master,” who leaves a trail of victims stripped of their memories.
As Motoko and her subordinates follow the enigmatic criminal’s trail, other parties—including Section 6—start to get involved, forcing her to confront the extremely complicated nature of the case. Pondering about various philosophical questions, such as her own life’s meaning.
My overall rating: 9/10

"D-Deunan!! S-shtop!! I`I'm cummink~!!!" One-State/Two-State
Jeffrey Sachs rightly takes Israel to task for being a prime mover of and supporter behind US wars against Muslim majority States (Afghanistan, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Yemen and, of course, Palestine and Iran) since the days in the late 1990s of the New American Century, which provided a discourse of justification for how the US needed to reshape the globe in its own image since 9/11, its policies of regime-change war so helpfully communicated to an otherwise largely non-comprehending US public by former NATO chief General Wesley Clark (Wesley).
There are few intellectually and emotionally adult people left who do not see the urgent need to break the genocidal ambitions of the lunatic cabal that runs Israel, with the support, unfortunately, of a very large proporotion of Israeli citizens. Almost to a man or woman, they, like Jeffrey Sachs, reach out, somewhat uncritically, for the comforting slogan of a “two state” solution.
There can be little doubt that in contrast to the horrific scenes of Israeli criminality that play out on our screens on a daily basis, a two-state solution woud be a very attractive alternative. It would provide a UN-sanctioned, legitimate, sovereign, independent Palestine with secure (or at least legitimately endorsed) borders. However, as I argued here a few years back (One-State Terror, Two-State Bunkum) this is not at all straight forward.
The concept is great in theory but few people at the moment want to grasp the nettles of its impracticality: these primarily have to do with the miserably fragmented sections of Palestine as currently constituted, the gross imbalances of weaponry and military resources between Palestine and Israel, the deep impoverishment of the Palestinian people, and the likelihood of eternal hatred, aggression and harrassment of Israel towards its new neighbor.

Comprehensive Guide to Finding the Best Girls Hostel in Greater Noida
Greater Noida is home to many educational institutions and is a hub for students from all over India. For female students, finding a safe, comfortable, and affordable hostel is essential. This guide explores the top features to look for when selecting a girls' hostel in Greater Noida, focusing on safety, proximity to institutions, amenities, and budget considerations.
1. Safety and Security
One of the most important factors when choosing a Girls Hostel in Greater Noida is security. Hostels in Greater Noida typically offer 24/7 surveillance through CCTV cameras, security guards, and restricted entry systems to ensure student safety. Some even have biometric access systems to monitor who enters and leaves the premises, providing an added layer of protection.
Tumblr media
2. Proximity to Colleges and Institutes
Staying close to educational institutions such as Galgotias University, GL Bajaj Institute, or Sharda University saves time and money on daily travel. Most hostels in Greater Noida are strategically located near these institutions, allowing easy access to public transportation, and some even offer shuttle services.
3. Room Options and Amenities
Hostels in Greater Noida offer a variety of room types to suit different budgets, ranging from single occupancy rooms to shared accommodations. These rooms are typically well-furnished with comfortable beds, study tables, and storage spaces. Modern hostels also provide air-conditioned rooms, attached bathrooms, and even Wi-Fi access, making them convenient for students who need a quiet environment for studying.
4. Hygiene and Cleanliness
Cleanliness is essential in a hostel environment. Most hostels in Greater Noida offer daily housekeeping services to ensure that rooms, common areas, and washrooms are regularly cleaned. This creates a healthy living space for students and minimizes the chances of falling ill due to unclean surroundings.
5. Nutritious Meals
A well-balanced diet is vital for students, and most girls' hostels in Greater Noida provide meal plans with nutritious, home-style food. These meals are typically served three times a day, with a focus on variety and maintaining hygiene standards in the kitchen. Many hostels also accommodate special dietary needs.
6. Recreational Facilities
Apart from academics, recreational activities are necessary for a balanced lifestyle. Hostels in Greater Noida often provide common areas with televisions, indoor games, and reading rooms. Some may even have fitness centers or sports facilities to encourage physical activities among residents.
7. Affordability
Hostels in Greater Noida offer various pricing options to cater to different budgets. Students can find affordable shared accommodations or invest in a private room with more luxurious facilities. The rent generally includes utilities such as electricity, water, and internet, though some hostels may charge extra for additional services like air conditioning or laundry.
8. Reviews and Ratings
Before finalizing a hostel, it’s helpful to check reviews and ratings from current or former residents. Websites and apps dedicated to student housing often have feedback sections where students can share their experiences. Pay attention to aspects such as management response, issues with maintenance, and overall satisfaction with the hostel environment.
9. Transportation and Accessibility
While some hostels are located within walking distance of educational institutes, others are connected via public transport. Easy access to metro stations and bus routes is a major advantage for students who need to commute across Greater Noida or to other parts of Delhi-NCR.
Conclusion
Finding the right girls' hostel in Greater Noida is crucial for a safe, comfortable, and productive student life. By considering factors such as safety, proximity to educational institutions, amenities, affordability, and reviews, students can make informed decisions that meet both their academic and personal needs. With the right choice, a hostel can become a second home during your time in Greater Noida.

The Ultimate Guide to Safe and Stylish Traveling with Your Jewelry
Tumblr media
Traveling is an exhilarating experience, offering new sights, sounds, and cultures. However, bringing along your precious jewelry, especially valuable pieces like a redesigned wedding ring, can add a layer of complexity to your travel plans. Whether you're planning a romantic getaway, a business trip, or an adventure-filled vacation, ensuring your jewelry's safety and accessibility is crucial. Here’s how to travel with jewelry like a pro.
1. Prioritize What to Pack
When it comes to jewelry, less is often more. Begin by deciding which pieces are essential for your trip. Select versatile items that can complement various outfits. Consider leaving extremely valuable or sentimental pieces, like your redesigned wedding ring, at home unless it's an absolute necessity. This minimizes the risk of loss or theft.
2. Use a Travel Jewelry Organizer
Invest in a quality travel jewelry organizer. These organizers are designed with compartments to keep your pieces separate and untangled. Choose one that fits your travel style—compact for carry-on luggage or a larger case if you’re packing checked bags. Opt for one with padded sections for added protection, especially for delicate items like your redesigned wedding ring.
3. Keep Jewelry in Your Carry-On
Always keep your jewelry in your carry-on luggage. This reduces the risk of losing your valuables due to misplaced checked baggage. It also allows you to keep a close eye on your items. For added security, store your redesigned wedding ring and other precious pieces in a small, discrete pouch or case within your carry-on bag.
4. Consider Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is a wise investment, particularly if you're carrying valuable jewelry. Ensure that your policy covers loss, theft, or damage to jewelry. Document your jewelry, especially significant pieces like your redesigned wedding ring, with photos and appraisals. This documentation will be invaluable if you need to make a claim.
5. Use Hotel Safes Wisely
When you arrive at your destination, use the hotel safe to store your jewelry when it’s not in use. Ensure the safe is operational and secure before placing your items inside. Avoid leaving your redesigned wedding ring and other valuable jewelry unattended in the room, as even the best hotels can't guarantee complete security.
6. Be Mindful of Local Customs and Security
Research your destination to understand local customs and potential security issues. In some regions, wearing flashy or expensive jewelry can attract unwanted attention. It might be wise to leave items like a redesigned wedding ring in the hotel safe or opt for less conspicuous accessories when exploring the area.
7. Maintain Personal Security
While traveling, stay vigilant about your surroundings. Avoid removing jewelry in public places where it could be lost or stolen. Consider wearing a fake ring or less valuable pieces in place of your redesigned wedding ring if you're concerned about security.
8. Clean and Check Your Jewelry
Before you travel, have your jewelry cleaned and inspected. This ensures that clasps and settings are secure, reducing the risk of loss. For intricate pieces like a redesigned wedding ring, professional cleaning can also bring out their brilliance, making them perfect for any special occasion during your trip.
9. Emergency Kit
Carry a small emergency kit with a few basic tools for quick jewelry repairs. This kit might include a magnifying glass, a polishing cloth, and small pliers. While this won’t fix major issues, it can help with minor problems, ensuring your redesigned wedding ring or other pieces remain wearable.
10. Discretion Is Key
Lastly, be discreet about your jewelry. Avoid discussing its value with strangers, and don’t flaunt expensive pieces unnecessarily. The less attention you draw to your redesigned wedding ring and other valuable items, the safer they will be.
Conclusion
Traveling with jewelry, especially cherished pieces like a redesigned wedding ring, requires thoughtful planning and precautions. By following these tips, you can enjoy your journey with the peace of mind that your treasured items are secure and accessible. Safe travels!
