So, I've finished up through Chapter 7 of Path To Nowhere, and I'm amazed I haven't seen a single person in the tag posit the theory that I thought was obvious: Is it not obvious the Chief was made that way?

We know some level of cloning is possible in universe as is: we don't know the extent of Hecate's whole… everything, but her death quote is "don't worry, there will always be another me". Where are the others? Who knows. But there are more.

Isn't it curious that the only person who seems to know anything about the Chief (besides Nightingale) is Hecate? The girl whose name we know as well as our own? Hecate, who was made in a lab? The Chief, who woke up in a pod that was doing something to their memories in the first place? Why were we in the pod? Whose memories were we getting downloaded into our skull?

(We're not even going to begin getting into the fact that the Chief and Hecate visually resemble each other to an alarming degree.)

If we move outside the main plot for a moment- Roulecca's lines for the Jackpot repeatedly mention the existence of previous Chiefs who didn't make it as far as we have. While probably also a cheeky reference to players who don't commit to games, it only adds fuel to the mystery fire that is The Chief's backstory.

The Chief doesn't have a single sinner shackled at the beginning of the story: how in the name of god did we do our job without them? The answer is, clearly, we didn't. Suspect-R/Rebecca woke us up to steal our body, supposedly, but I think there's more to it.

In short: could the player character be a clone of a previous Chief, designed to utilize the Shackles and be a last resort for both the Minos Bureau and DisCity as a whole? I think signs point to yes

Ooh, this is good! I imagine this is how cat!Chief will separate Sinners by their likeability after Nightingale calms her down and can't return to human because the neutralizer is unavailable. Bet the Sinners will try to get cat!Chief to like them, but she's just too fickle and unpredictable to figure out and please.

ENTREVISTA A PABLO CATATUMBO MIEMBRO DEL SECRETARIADO DE LAS FARC-EP

Para Estados Unidos las Fuerzas Armadas Revolucionarias de Colombia (FARC) siguen siendo una organización terrorista y ese país ofrece aún US$2,5 millones por información que lleve a la captura o enjuiciamiento de Jorge Torres Victoria, mejor conocido como Pablo Catatumbo.

Pero Catatumbo, comandante del poderoso Bloque Occidental y miembro del secretariado de la mayor organización guerrillera de Colombia, no está escondiéndose.

El comandante insurgente se encuentra en La Elvira, una zona rural del municipio de Buenos Aires, en el departamento occidental del Cauca, junto a decenas de guerrilleros. Y sabe que las autoridades colombianas no lo va a entregar a EE.UU.

Eso es parte de lo que él y los otros miembros del equipo negociador de las FARC pactaron a fines de 2016 con el gobierno colombiano en La Habana, al firmar el acuerdo de paz que ahora está implementándose, tras 52 años de un conflicto interno que dejó más de 220.000 muertos y casi siete millones de desplazados internos.

Se supone que más de 6.300 miembros de la guerrilla pasarán 180 días en 26 áreas llamadas zonas veredales transitorias de normalización (ZVTN; las veredas son pequeñas unidades territoriales rurales) y puntos de normalización (PTN), distribuidas por la geografía colombiana.

Allí irán dejando las armas en forma progresiva, recibiendo capacitación, preparándose para su salida a la vida civil y política (se espera que las FARC anuncien su propio partido político en o a partir de mayo).

Luego iniciarán su proceso de reintegración.

¿Cómo está el cronograma de implementación?

En general las cosas van bien. Las FARC han honrando su palabra de estar el 31 de enero con todas sus tropas en los puntos de concentración (desde donde han estado ingresando a las ZVTN y PTN).

Pero hemos encontrado algunas dificultades: las obras (de las estructuras en las que deben vivir los guerrilleros por 180 días) no están terminadas. El gobierno ha tenido algunos problemas para cumplir con lo acordado. No obstante eso, las FARC estamos en las zonas. Eso en el 98%.

¿Y en términos de la dejación, cuándo van a empezar a entregar las armas?

Ese es un compromiso que se mantiene. Habrá que tener en cuenta, de manera sensata, y eso lo estamos conversando con el gobierno, las demoras que ha habido en la implementación. Pero creo que eso no tiene dificultades.

¿Pero puede ser que se demore algo más que 180 días?

Creo que es posible que se tenga que tener en cuenta. Y yo creo que el gobierno tiene que aceptar… Con sindéresis, con tranquilidad, con sensatez, podemos encontrar una solución de las fechas, de los tiempos, dado que es evidente que ha habido dificultades en la llegada de nuestra gente a las zonas.

¿Qué pasa si en cinco o diez años no se han cumplido los acuerdos?

Sería un escenario muy lamentable y yo espero que eso no ocurra. Si llegara a ocurrir creo que estaríamos fracasando.

¿Eso podría volver a traer violencia armada?

Seguramente sí. Nosotros no quisiéramos ese escenario.

¿Cuánto le preocupa que un futuro gobierno en Colombia cambie cosas del acuerdo?

Sí, nos preocupa. Pero creo que dentro de los acuerdos de La Habana se estableció que nosotros no hicimos una negociación con un gobierno, sino con el Estado colombiano.

El Estado colombiano está obligado a cumplir los compromisos, sea el gobierno que sea.

¿Le preocupa que el gobierno de Donald Trump pueda modificar los compromisos de EE.UU. con el proceso de paz colombiano (apoyo político y económico)?

Sí, sí. Preocupa. Pero nosotros confiamos en que se respeten los acuerdos que son compromisos de Estado.

¿Cuáles son los planes de participación política de las FARC, van a presentar un candidato a presidente para las elecciones de 2018?

Nosotros hemos hecho una propuesta al país: consideramos que es necesario un gobierno de convergencia.

Nosotros no vamos a presentar un candidato propio.

Esperamos poder concertar con los candidatos que se presenten, en base a una línea, a una espina dorsal, que sea el cumplimiento de los acuerdos.

En base a eso, a un programa, unos compromisos mínimos de tres o cuatro puntos, poder construir una candidatura a la cual apostarle. Esa candidatura no está construida, pero de entrada le digo que las FARC no tendrán candidato propio.

¿Apoyarían a Humberto De la Calle (exjefe del equipo negociador de paz del gobierno, quien podría lanzar su candidatura)?

Cualquiera que se comprometa a cumplir con la implementación de los acuerdos, cualquiera que se comprometa a combatir la corrupción, que es uno de los más grandes males que tiene nuestro país, cualquiera que se comprometa a cumplir con la apertura democrática que implican los acuerdos de paz, es viable para que pueda recibir el apoyo de nosotros.

Al menos en el punto de cumplir con los acuerdos, entonces, De la Calle parecería un buen candidato para recibir el apoyo de las FARC…

Sí, podría ser. O cualquiera que se comprometa a cumplir con los acuerdos. Ese sería el punto central.

Además, ¿quién en Colombia está en contra de un candidato que se comprometa a luchar contra la corrupción, que es el mal mayor que tiene la sociedad, el Estado colombiano? Si De la Calle asume esa bandera, o (la senadora y precandidata) Claudia López, el que sea, estaríamos dispuestos a entrar en conversaciones.

¿Cuántos votos le puede conseguir las FARC a un candidato?

Hay mucha gente que dice que nosotros tenemos el 0,98%, pero también hay encuestas que Timochenko (líder máximo de las FARC, cuyo nombre real es Rodrigo Londoño Echeverri) tiene favorabilidad del 26%.

(BBC Mundo no encontró esa encuesta; de las que encontró, la que más le da se acerca al 20%, aunque en general es menor).

Nunca hemos estado en unas elecciones, pero nosotros aspiramos a que esa franja de millones de colombianos que nunca ha creído en la política, porque en Colombia la política es corrupta, pueda participar esta vez.

Aventurarme en cifras sería irresponsable. Pero yo confío en que sí van a ser muchos los que voten por las FARC.

¿A qué tipo de cargos de elección popular presentarán candidatos?

Nosotros vamos a participar en todo. En las alcaldías, en las gobernaciones, para concejales, vamos a medir fuerzas.

Lo único que le hemos pedido al gobierno es que nos den garantías. Vemos con preocupación que nos están asesinando líderes sociales, sobre todo líderes que defienden el proceso de paz. Esa es una preocupación mayor.

Hay una preocupación respecto a las disidencias de las FARC. ¿Cuán razonable es esa preocupación y cuán preocupado está usted?

Yo creo personalmente que los llamados disidentes son compañeros que no confían en el acuerdo de paz, debido también en parte a los incumplimientos del gobierno.

Ellos dicen: “Miren, a ustedes los van a traicionar, el gobierno no va a cumplir, a ustedes los van a meter a la cárcel, a ustedes los van a extraditar”. Y nos parece que eso se origina en los incumplimientos del gobierno. Si el gobierno cumple, se les respondería a ellos: “Eso no es cierto”. Pero muchos de ellos tienen esas dudas.

A uno le preocupa la decisión que tomaron. No creo que con la fuerza que tienen, 100, 200 guerrilleros, sean capaces de cumplir con los que se proponen: seguir la lucha de (Manuel) Marulanda (uno de los fundadores de las FARC), tomar el poder, cambiar a Colombia. Están corriendo un gran riesgo, porque no van a tener amnistía y pueden ser extraditados. Yo los conozco a muchos de ellos, son hombres y mujeres que han luchado muchos años en las FARC.

Yo creo que están equivocados, creo que no tienen una lectura correcta de la realidad colombiana. Respeto su decisión, pero creo que van a fracasar.

Yo creo que ellos deben tomar su decisión, ellos tienen su propia lectura de la realidad y nosotros respetaremos la decisión que tomen. Yo creo que en Colombia no hay otro camino que la paz.

¿Cuándo va a dejar de ser comandante de las FARC y qué va a ser?

Yo dejaré de ser comandante el día 180+1 (en referencia al momento en que se acabará el proceso de dejación de armas y las FARC abandonen las ZVTN). Y una vez que se termine ese tiempo, seguramente la organización determinará qué vamos a hacer. Eso lo vamos a definir en congresos del nuevo partido.

Hay muchas cosas por hacer. Todavía uno no puede definir qué va a pasar.

¿Y qué le gustaría hacer, si pudiera elegir?

Me gustaría ser académico, dar instrucción. Si me toca en la política nacional, también.

Pero si me pregunta a mí qué es lo que me gusta, a mí me gusta estudiar, leer, y enseñar.
