So I've been relearning giffing this week and when I saw this clip of @vinceaddams looking very pleased with his new dressing gown (in the reveal portion of this very long making video) I immediately wanted a bit of giffing practice with it.

Hope you like it, Vincent, and good job on completing this beast of a project!

The worst thing about formal English is that it offers these wonderful suffixes, then only lets you use them in prescribed circumstances. I should be able to describe things as meatful or leftly or falsewise without departing from the formal register if I darn well please.

Points to be made: Point the first: I used to have a pterrible dinosaur drawing, it was in a frame and everything. I got it as a thanks for some fabric I sent. It was my fave. Point the second: I say 'used to' because I finally cleared out (I think!) every box and storage bin I owned and I can't find it now ;_;

I moved a year ago and finally got through all my stuff and I am -1 plesiosaur :(

I finished the white linen shirt a week ago but keep forgetting to get pictures of me wearing it when the light is good. I meant to today, but then the sun was too low.

It's mostly machine sewn, with hand finishing only on the collar and wristbands, and a tiny bit at the very bottom of the front slit.

I filmed a tiny bit of the construction for the shirt video I'm working on, because I'm showing some different options for some of the steps, but the main shirt for the video is a different one. It'll be quite a while before the shirt video is finished, and I just did a behind the scenes post on patreon. (The patreon is mostly for Pterrible Dinosaur Drawings, but I've also recently started doing monthly progress reports there about sewing videos I'm working on.)

Reasons my shirt tutorial is taking a very very very long time:

This is definitely going to be my longest video so far. I won't know how long until it's finished, but my current longest one is the patchwork dressing gown video at an hour and 13 minutes, and the script for this one is 13% longer than the script for that one. I'm staying on topic the entire time, but it turns out there's a lot to say about shirt construction. The good thing about making videos this painfully detailed is that practically nobody asks for clarification on anything, which saves a lot of time answering questions.

I'm also doing a written version of the tutorial, since I've been meaning to do a better version of my older blog post about it for a while. I've sewn a whole separate shirt for that because it's too hard to remember to film and photograph something at the same time, and I have to finish retyping 14k words of sewing information in a format that works better in a blog post.

My old Singer machine has forgotten how to sew slowly and might possibly be dying. It only goes fast, so I brought it to a repairman and waited for 4 weeks and paid $95 for him to look inside it and not find the problem and return it to me just as bad as it was before. Hooray. I have another vintage machine now, which I'm attempting to fix up myself. (Though the sewing part of the video is all filmed.)

Secret 4th thing that also took some time and effort, but which I won't post publicly until the video is done. (I did post some pictures on patreon though! My patreon is mostly for pterrible dinosaur drawings, but I have also started doing monthly updates on sewing video stuff.)

It's also pretty busy at my workplace this time of year, what with all the prom alterations, but that's ok! I just wanted to let people know that I am working on the shirt video, since I've been mentioning it occasionally for quite a while. It'll be done whenever it gets done and will be precisely as long as it needs to be, and I am not stressing about it!

TOO MUCH 1830s

Stage one: You think the language is appealing in its quaintness— a mix of the very old-fashioned with surprisingly modern idioms. Your sentences lengthen almost imperceptibly; commas appear, in unexpected places.

Stage two: “Actually, 1830s hairstyles aren’t that bad.” You may attempt to replicate a weird recipe or try a dramatic side-part. Romanticism seems more logical.

Some eyes. I haven't done much sketching in ages (unless you count pterrible dinosaurs) and am especially rusty at drawing people, so I hope I can get back into the habit of using my sketchbook regularly.

I've only ever spelled it with the p! It was "shitty dinosaur drawings" for quite a long time, but then I changed it to "pterrible dinosaur drawings", never terrible without the p.
